Mosher explains that his Cybercheck technology was built to analyze open-source internet data using AI to generate investigative “intelligence,” not courtroom evidence. Mosher admits the company failed early on to clearly communicate those limits, allowing prosecutors to use Cybercheck as evidence, and he acknowledges the risks of relying on AI without independent verification. However, he defends the system's value, denies wrongdoing, and attributes criticism to misunderstandings and aggressive defense attorneys. Despite mounting doubts—including inconsistencies in his claims, refusal to share source code, and questions about peer review—Mosher insists Cybercheck remains useful to law enforcement, while the interview leaves unresolved concerns about its reliability, transparency, and continued use. Mosher tells Sam he needs to speak to the people behind the curtain who are having success with it.Binge all 9 episodes of this season on our YouTube page, or get them ad-free on CBC True Crime Premium on Apple Podcasts.A listener's guide to Uncover: Where to go from here.

BING BONG! After an extended absence due to some antibiotics, Liv is back and has brought with her another episode filled with a slurry of emotion. Liv's latest covers the betting app Kalshi and its competitor, Polymarket. Although illegal in some states, these “prediction market platforms” have had a boom in popularity allowing users to bet on anything imaginable, including but not limited to, political events. With Don Jr as a strategic advisor for both Kalshi and Polymarket, it's safe to say these morally questionable sites will be with us for the foreseeable future. Jake and Julian join Liv on this adventure and I would bet it doesn't take too long for the rails to leave entirely with this troublesome trio. She married them fast, drugged their food, and emptied their bank accounts. Then they died. Melissa Ann Shepard did it for decades, moving between Canada and Florida, leaving a trail of dead and disabled husbands behind her. The drug was always the same. The pattern was always the same. And no one could stop her until one man survived long enough to tell someone what was in his coffee. You overate last night, so today you tell yourself you'll be "extra careful." A light salad. Maybe skip lunch. It sounds smart. It sounds like the responsible thing to do. But that little plan to make up for it? It sets up your next overeating episode. In this episode I break down the binge-restrict cycle — the hidden loop that keeps almost everyone stuck. I'll show you why trying to stop yourself right before you eat almost never works, why beating yourself up after only makes it worse, and the easiest place to step out of the cycle (it's probably not where you think). If you've been working so hard and still feel out of control around food, this one's for you.
In Part 2 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy follows Andrew Cunanan's cross-country killing spree from Minneapolis to Miami Beach. After murdering two men he knew personally, Andrew killed a wealthy Chicago real estate developer and a New Jersey cemetery worker before driving south to Florida, where he spent two months hiding in plain sight just miles from Gianni Versace's Ocean Drive mansion. On the morning of July 15th, 1997, Gianni stepped out for magazines and coffee. He never made it back through his front door. What followed was a massive manhunt, an eight-day standoff that ended on a houseboat, and a death that left every question about motive unanswered. Andrew Cunanan took his reasons with him, but Gianni's legacy endured through the sister who refused to let it die.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. Have you ever eaten past the point of fullness and immediately thought, “What is wrong with me?” Maybe you told yourself you had no self-control. Maybe you promised you would start over on Monday. Maybe you felt guilty, frustrated, or ashamed, then tried to fix it with another plan, another set of rules, or another attempt to “be good.” In this episode, we're talking about the restrict binge cycle, and why the story you've been told about it may be completely wrong. Because what if your eating patterns are not a sign that you need more willpower or self-control? What if your body is responding exactly the way it was designed to respond? And what if the very thing you keep turning to for control is the thing keeping you stuck? We're breaking down why food restriction can lead to intense cravings, overeating, and shame, and why willpower is not the answer most people think it is. We also talk about the sneaky ways restriction can show up, even when you are not technically “on a diet.” You'll learn: What the restrict binge cycle is and why so many people get stuck in it Why overeating is not always a lack of self-control How physical restriction and mental restriction can both affect your relationship with food How hunger hormones shift when your body feels deprived, and why willpower was never going to win that fight Why certain foods can feel more tempting when you label them as “bad” or off-limits Why the guilt and shame after a binge keep the binge cycle alive long after the eating stops How diet culture profits from making you believe you are the problem Why self-compassion is such an important part of healing your relationship with food This conversation is for anyone who has ever felt like they cannot trust themselves around food. We hope it helps you see that your body is not the enemy, and that there may be a much kinder, more freeing way forward. Let's rebrand wellness together! Elizabeth, Tara & Maria Connect with us! Gianni Versace was the Italian fashion designer who turned bold prints, bare skin, and celebrity culture into a global empire. From his mother's seamstress studio in southern Italy, he rose to dress everyone from Princess Diana to Tupac Shakur, building a brand that generated over $800 million in annual sales by the mid-1990s. In Part 1 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy traces Gianni's creative journey from small-town Calabria to the top of the fashion world, while introducing the man who would destroy it all: Andrew Cunanan, a 27-year-old con artist whose carefully constructed life of lies was collapsing around him. As Gianni settled into his Miami Beach mansion at the height of his influence, Andrew bought a one-way ticket to Minneapolis, where two men who trusted him were about to pay for it with their lives.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. Bingeing can be painful and costly, but it often persists because it is doing a job.Not working because it is harmless or because you want to keep doing it, but because it may have been doing something important for you. Bingeing may provide relief, comfort, rest, numbness, pleasure, rebellion, privacy, or a way to get through moments that feel impossible. In this episode, we look at bingeing as a coping strategy that may have helped you survive, especially if it began when you were young and had fewer choices. The goal is not to romanticize bingeing, but to understand what need it has been meeting so you can begin meeting that need earlier, more directly, and with less harm.New to the show? In the 1920s, members of the Osage Nation in Oklahoma were among the wealthiest people on the planet, thanks to massive oil reserves beneath their land. Then they started dying: poisoned, shot, and blown up in their own homes. Local law enforcement wouldn't help, and some of them were in on it. There was no FBI to call. Not the way we know it. This is the story of the conspiracy that targeted the Osage for their oil money, and the investigation that transformed a small federal agency into the most powerful law enforcement organization in the country. We're wrapping up our coverage of the classic 6-episode anime FLCL (Fooly Cooly) on Anime Binge Club, and Spencer and Kevin have a lot to say about robots, aliens, and the crushing weight of adolescence. After Spencer accidentally swears on YouTube (twice), forgets the show's name, and loses his fidget toy, we dive into the finale with the enthusiasm of someone who just had a guitar pulled out of their head. Kevin confesses he found the ending confusing, which surprises absolutely no one, and Spencer responds by delivering an impressive breakdown of the entire plot involving space pirates, NO-powered brains, and a giant iron trying to flatten the planet. We debate whether Haruko is basically Bugs Bunny with a vespa and a spring-loaded boxing glove in a very uncomfortable location. Spencer also traces the origin story of his beloved character The Spleen back to a Twitch DJ persona called DJ Horny Smooth, and somehow it all makes sense. Along the way we cover the dual meaning of hate symbols, the South Park animation cameo, why cocking a gun and feeling cocky might be etymologically linked, and why the show is secretly about emotionally unavailable parents and small-town adolescent stagnation. Spencer gets deep, Kevin gets confused, and Spenpai gets HR-flagged again. We also debate whether Superman flying out of someone's house is canon. It is. Learn more about your ad choices. What if the voice urging you to binge isn't really you — and you could learn to talk back to it? This week, Dr. Vera Tarman sits down with psychologist and bestselling author Dr. Glenn Livingston, whose unconventional path from Fortune 500 food industry consultant to food compulsion researcher led him to develop one of the most distinctive frameworks in recovery: Never Binge Again. Glenn shares how his own 80-pound weight loss journey — and nearly 2,000 clients later — shaped a method built on structured food rules, cognitive refutation, and understanding the neuroscience of cravings extinction. In This Episode: Why Glenn left lucrative food industry work and what he saw from the inside about how hyperpalatable foods are engineered The "inner pig" framework — and why separating from the voice that drives bingeing is the foundation of his approach How his self-funded study of 40,000 people shaped his thinking (and why the results surprised him) The four food rule categories: Never, Always, Conditional, and Unrestricted Why 1 in 3 people genuinely need abstinence — and how to tell if you're one of them The extinction burst: why cravings often get worse before they disappear (and why this is actually good news) The "screw it, just do it" response — what causes it and how to address it with self-regulation Commit with perfection, forgive with dignity — how to handle slips without derailing recovery Abstinence vs. moderation: where Glenn agrees with food addiction models, and where his philosophy diverges His take on GLP-1 medications and how they fit into the bigger picture The difference between his original Never Binge Again and his newer book Defeat Your Cravings Resources Mentioned:
By the mid-1970s, Sal Mineo's Oscar-nominated Hollywood career had collapsed. He was broke, deeply in debt, and sleeping in a rented apartment with rented furniture. But a sold-out stage run in San Francisco had the critics raving again, and a deal to direct his first feature film was finally coming together. On the night of February 12th, 1976, Sal left rehearsal for the LA run of his comeback show, stopped for cupcakes and cigarettes, and pulled into his usual parking spot. He never made it to his front door. In Part 2 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy follows Sal's fall from teen idol to forgotten star, the brutal stabbing that ended his life at 37, and an investigation derailed by tabloid speculation before the truth finally surfaced.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. She walks through what a typical week looks like, how the live sessions work, why each participant follows a different thread through the season, and how spending time with the same show—and the same group of people—changes the way you watch. The first season of The Long Arc begins June 30.
On June 17th, Rex Heuermann was sentenced to life in prison without parole — but the verdict only deepens the question at the heart of this case. What kind of man keeps a private "how to get away with murder" playbook and still convinces his wife, his neighbors, and his coworkers he's just an ordinary Long Island dad? In this Crime Scene bonus, forensic psychologist Dr. Joni Johnston joins us to unpack the psychology of the Gilgo Beach killer: how Rex Heuermann compartmentalized two lives for more than a decade, why the people closest to him never saw it, and what the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit will be looking for when they finally sit across from him. A Long Island architect and family man pleads guilty to killing multiple women — finally putting a name and a face to a case that haunted New York for more than a decade. But as investigators unearth Rex Heuermann's private "how to get away with murder" playbook and the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit prepares to sit across from him, the real chill comes from how carefully he studied the people hunting him, and how many chances those closest to him had to see who he really was before the bodies were ever found. Before he was a Hollywood star, Sal Mineo was a scrappy kid from the Bronx who couldn't stop getting into fights. His mother enrolled him in dance lessons to keep him out of trouble, and by 11 he was on Broadway. By 15 he was in his first film. By 16, he was reading lines poolside at the Chateau Marmont with James Dean, cast as one of three leads in Rebel Without a Cause. It was the kind of rise that seemed destined to last forever. It didn't. In Part 1 of Murder: True Crime Stories, host Carter Roy traces Sal's path from a tiny apartment above his family's casket business to the brightest lights in Hollywood, and the beginning of a story that would end on a dark Los Angeles street two decades later.Head over to our Murder True Crime Stories YouTube channel to WATCH our video episodes: https://www.youtube.com/@MurderTrueCrimeStoriesJoin Crime House+ to binge a special limited series on Murder: True Crime Stories for America's 250th: The Crimes That Built America. Cybercheck has spread across the U.S. through aggressive cold-email marketing, word of mouth, and partnerships with law enforcement agencies eager to solve cold cases. Journalist Todd Feathers uncovers questionable claims in Cybercheck reports, including supposed access to dark web accounts and the ability to retroactively place phones at crime scenes decades earlier. Despite producing few verifiable results, respected agencies like Ohio's Bureau of Criminal Investigation still promoted the tool to other departments, helping expand its reach. Is there anyone willing to put this tech under the necessary scrutiny? Maybe in West Texas. The First 60 Seconds: Don't Let the Urge Become a Story (The Urge Proof Life — Episode 4)There's a tiny moment when an urge first appears—before the binge, before the “might as well,” before the story starts writing itself. In this episode, Georgie explains why the first danger often isn't the urge itself, but the meaning we attach to it: I can't handle this, I already know how this ends, I'm going to binge. You'll learn the “two waves” of an urge: the first wave is sensation, and the second wave is interpretation. The skill in the first 60 seconds isn't to make the urge disappear or diagnose it perfectly, it's to meet it with boring neutrality: “This is an urge. That's all. It'll be here for a while, and then it will leave.” From there, you can choose one small support, and later use the Urge Map if needed.Try this week: Practice the boring sentence three times when an urge appears. You don't have to stop eating, solve the urge, or do anything perfectly. Just notice what happens when you decline the story.New to the show? You know the words by heart: "You have the right to remain silent." But do you know the crime behind them? In 1963, a man named Ernesto Miranda confessed to a violent crime in a Phoenix police station, was convicted, and sentenced to decades in prison. Three years later, the Supreme Court threw out his conviction, not because he was innocent, but because of how he'd been questioned. The ruling changed the rules for every police interrogation in America, and what happened to Miranda afterward is one of the strangest stories in criminal justice history. This is episode 1 of The Crimes That Built America, a special four-part series on Murder: True Crime Stories hosted by Carter Roy. Four crimes, four failures, and four systems that exist because someone refused to let it happen again. New episodes drop every Monday, and all four are available now, ad-free, on Crime House Plus. The hit podcast The Telepathy Tapes claims to reveal a hidden world where nonverbal autistic people communicate telepathically, visit one another on an astral gathering place called “The Hill,” access cosmic knowledge, and perhaps even commune with psychic animals. But behind the paranormal framing is a much older and more troubling story: facilitated communication, the discredited practice that can turn vulnerable people into human Ouija boards. In this episode, Jack looks at the ideomotor effect, Clever Hans, “letter boarding,” the career of Diane Hennacy Powell, Ky Dickens' rise as the voice of The Telepathy Tapes, and how New Age ideas about telepathy, dark matter, the Akashic Records, savants, parrots, dogs, and morphic fields have attached themselves to the desperate desire to give non-speaking people a voice. Prosecutors privately begin questioning Adam Mosher's false peer review claims, while defense attorney Don Malarcik uncovers evidence that Cybercheck reports were manually edited—contradicting claims that the system was fully automated. As the critical Daubert hearing approaches, prosecutors abruptly withdraw Cybercheck as evidence rather than defend it in court, effectively ending its use in Summit County without admitting wrongdoing. National reporting and expert analysis further undermine the technology's credibility, comparing it to unsupported pseudoscience. But despite Cybercheck being abandoned locally and Mosher facing investigation, Don realizes the tool has silently continued to spread across the country and raises troubling questions about how easily unproven technology can influence the justice system.Binge all 9 episodes of this season on our YouTube page, or get them ad-free on CBC True Crime Premium on Apple Podcasts.A listener's guide to Uncover: Where to go next
Just days after Thanksgiving in 2018, 29-year-old Kelsey Berreth seemingly vanished without a trace from her Colorado home. At first, her family tried convincing themselves there had to be a reasonable explanation. But as the days passed with no calls, no texts, and no sign of Kelsey, panic started setting in. Inside her condo, everything looked as though she had simply stepped out for a moment and never came back. Her belongings were still there, unfinished food sat untouched, and small details inside the apartment began making investigators increasingly uneasy. Meanwhile, the one person who should have been most desperate to find her, Kelsey's fiancé and the father of her child, appeared strangely calm….If you're new here, don't forget to follow the show for weekly deep dives into the darkest true crime cases!
