This season chronicles the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders as they battle injuries, rivalries, and playoff pressure. For the Eagles, it's especially historic — this marks the first time the franchise has ever been featured on Hard Knocks. Shannon is embedded this season with the Eagles. Today's guest is Thiago Da Costa, a serial entrepreneur with multiple exits and decades of experience building deeply technical companies. His latest venture, Datagrid AI is an enterprise agentic solution that connects data and automates workflows across tools, files, and systems, Thiago brings a rare combination of technical depth, founder instinct, and hard-earned perspective on what it really takes to start, scale, and survive as an entrepreneur. We talk candidly about the realities of founder-led growth, why most early hires fail, how scaling actually works in practice, and why instinct—tempered by experience—often matters more than advice. We also dig into the employee side of the equation: how to evaluate a founder before joining a startup, what questions really matter in interviews, and why effort, ownership, and clarity are the ultimate differentiators in today's market.Contact Dino at: dino@al4ep.comWebsites:al4ep.comdatagrid.aiAdditional Guest Links:LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/thiagocosta2Corporate LinkedIn: linkedin.com/company/datagrid-ai/Authentic Leadership For Everyday People / Dino CattaneoDino on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/dinocattaneoPodcast Instagram – @al4edp Podcast Twitter – @al4edpPodcast Facebook: facebook.com/al4edpMusicSusan Cattaneo: susancattaneo.bandcamp.com
In this episode, we take an unflinching look at one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. Theodore Robert Bundy murdered at least thirty women across seven states during the 1970s, and his case forever changed how we understand the nature of predatory violence. This is the complete story of Ted Bundy, from his troubled beginnings to his final moments in Florida's electric chair. We open on a summer afternoon at Lake Sammamish State Park in Washington State, where a handsome young man with his arm in a sling approached woman after woman, asking for help with his sailboat. Two of those women would never be seen alive again, and their disappearances would mark a turning point in one of the largest manhunts in Pacific Northwest history. The story begins in 1946 at the Elizabeth Lund Home for Unwed Mothers in Burlington, Vermont, where a young woman named Louise Cowell gave birth to a son she could not publicly claim as her own. We explore the elaborate family deception that followed, with Ted being raised to believe his grandparents were his parents and his mother was merely his older sister. We examine the household dynamics in Philadelphia, including accounts of his grandfather Samuel Cowell's violent temper, and we follow the family's cross-country relocation to Tacoma, Washington, where Louise would eventually marry a hospital cook named Johnnie Bundy. From there, we trace Ted's development through childhood and adolescence. We look at his struggles to connect with peers, his early fascination with violence and true crime, his nighttime prowling through neighborhoods, and the petty thefts that taught him he could take what he wanted without consequence. We follow him to the University of Washington, where he reinvented himself as a charming political operative and met the wealthy young woman whose rejection would send him spiraling into darkness. The heart of this episode chronicles Ted Bundy's years of murder. Beginning with the attack on Karen Sparks in January 1974 and the disappearance of Lynda Ann Healy just weeks later, we document the wave of terror that swept through the Pacific Northwest as young women vanished from college campuses and public spaces. We cover each known victim, the circumstances of their disappearances, and the desperate efforts of investigators who were working without the benefit of modern forensic tools or computerized databases. We examine the critical turning point at Lake Sammamish, where multiple witnesses saw the same man approaching women and where a composite sketch finally gave investigators something to work with. We reveal how Ted Bundy's own girlfriend reported her suspicions to police and how his name was lost in a pile of thousands of tips. The narrative follows Bundy to Utah, where he enrolled in law school and immediately began hunting again. We cover the murders of Nancy Wilcox, Melissa Smith, Laura Aime, and Debra Kent. We give particular attention to the attack on Carol DaRonch, the young woman who fought back and escaped, providing investigators with their first surviving witness who could identify her attacker. We then trace the crimes into Colorado and Idaho, documenting the murders of Caryn Campbell, Julie Cunningham, Denise Oliverson, Lynette Culver, and Susan Curtis. We explore how investigators across multiple states were slowly beginning to connect the dots, recognizing patterns that suggested a single killer was responsible for disappearances spanning thousands of miles. The capture of Ted Bundy receives detailed attention, beginning with the routine traffic stop by Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Bob Hayward that revealed a car full of disturbing items. We cover Bundy's conviction for the kidnapping of Carol DaRonch and his extradition to Colorado to face murder charges. Two full chapters are devoted to Ted Bundy's escapes from custody. The first escape came when he leaped from a second-story window of the Pitkin County Courthouse in Aspen, leading authorities on a six-day manhunt through the Colorado mountains. The second escape was even more audacious, with Bundy sawing through the ceiling of his cell and walking out the front door of the Garfield County Jail on the night of December 30th, 1977. We follow Bundy to Florida, where he committed his most violent attacks. The Chi Omega sorority house massacre is covered in detail, documenting how Bundy killed two young women and severely injured three others in a span of minutes. We also cover his final victim, twelve-year-old Kimberly Leach, who was abducted from her junior high school in Lake City just weeks later. The legal proceedings receive thorough examination. We cover the groundbreaking Miami trial, one of the first to be televised nationally, where Bundy represented himself and was ultimately convicted based on eyewitness testimony and forensic bite mark evidence. We also cover the subsequent trial for the murder of Kimberly Leach and the failed insanity defense. The episode concludes with Bundy's nine years on death row, his eventual confessions to investigators, and his execution on January 24th, 1989. We examine his final interview with Dr. James Dobson, in which he blamed his crimes on pornography, and we consider the complicated legacy he left behind.Throughout this episode, we keep the focus where it belongs, on the victims. We name every known victim and honor their memory, reminding listeners that behind the sensational headlines were real women whose lives were cut short by a predator who exploited their trust and kindness. The Ted Bundy case fundamentally changed American law enforcement. It contributed to the creation of the FBI's Violent Criminal Apprehension Program and helped establish the modern science of criminal profiling. But perhaps its most important legacy is the warning it provides.Evil does not always announce itself. Sometimes it comes with a warm smile and a request for help. Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it probably is.

In the early 1990s, a beloved first-grade teacher in Pennsylvania began receiving harassing, threatening letters from an anonymous sender. Her school principal, fellow teachers, and the parents of some of her students soon began receiving them too. As the ordeal wore on, the stalker slowly escalated from taunts to vile accusations and death threats—and then, finally, violence. From early on in the case, the police thought they knew the tormentor's identity, but it took 18 months to finally gather the evidence needed for an arrest. The trial to follow would be one of the most bizarre the state had ever seen. The case took twist after twist before reaching a conclusion nobody saw coming. Kate discusses the Netflix documentary Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story, a chilling true-crime examination of Utah therapist Jodi Hildebrandt and her role in a devastating child abuse case involving popular parenting YouTuber Ruby Franke. Directed by Skye Borgman, the film explores how Hildebrandt, a licensed therapist and life coach, built power and credibility through her program ConneXions, ultimately manipulating Franke and others by weaponizing therapeutic language and moral authority. The documentary escalates as it reveals the “inhumane and merciless disciplinary regime” enforced under Hildebrandt's influence, normalizing cruelty in the name of accountability and faith. The story reaches its horrifying conclusion in August 2023, when Franke's emaciated 12-year-old son escaped through a window of Hildebrandt's home and sought help from a neighbor, triggering the arrest of both women and exposing the dangers of unchecked influence, therapy culture misuse, and social media-driven credibility. We are taking this week off for the holidays, but wanted to put something out in case anyone needed a TCATT fix. This is a fascinating 2022 episode that has always stuck with us. The level of deceit and horrible decisions in this one is off the charts. Thomas Montgomery is currently incarcerated for murdering his 22-year-old coworker, Brian Barrett. Both men were involved with a girl they met on the internet, and Montgomery became enraged with jealousy to the point where he murdered Brian in cold blood.Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the case of Thomas Montgomery. The more facts that were revealed in this case, the stranger they became. This is a story of elaborate catfishing by multiple parties and shows how bad things can go when people pretend to be someone else online. The story was the subject of an excellent documentary called TalhotBlond. You can help support the show at patreon.com/truecrimeallthetimeVisit the show's website at truecrimeallthetime.com for contact, merchandise, and donation informationAn Emash Digital productionSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In 1961, George Carroll, a 30-year-old U.S. Army veteran and father of six, vanished without a trace from his family's Long Island home on Olive Street, leaving behind a wife and young children, including his eight-month-old son Michael. For decades, the Carroll children were told their father had abandoned them, but unanswered questions lingered as the family endured years of silence, abuse, and buried secrets after their mother, Dorothy Carroll, remarried the family's handyman, Richard Darress. Driven by a lifelong search for truth, Michael Carroll eventually bought the family home and, alongside his sister Jean, pursued answers through neighbors, rumors, and even psychics—until a chilling revelation led Michael's sons, Mike Carroll Jr. and Chris Carroll, to dig beneath the basement floor in 2018. Six feet below the house, they uncovered human remains later confirmed to be George Carroll's, transforming a decades-old disappearance into an active homicide investigation. Kate is joined by director Patricia Gillespie, and Mike Carroll Jr. and Chris Carroll. What This Episode Is AboutIf your brain generates ideas faster than you can execute them, this conversation will make you feel seen. Sarah runs five businesses and has developed a systematic approach to managing what I call the "burden of creativity"—that relentless flow of inspiration that can fuel or derail you, depending on how you work with it.This isn't about picking one lane or shutting down your creative engine. It's about building frameworks that let you honor your ideas without drowning in them.Who This Episode Is ForFounders juggling multiple business ideas or revenue streamsCreatives who struggle with follow-through despite abundant inspirationConsultants and coaches who feel scattered across too many offersAnyone who's been shamed for having "too many interests."Serial entrepreneurs who want to build interconnected businesses without burning outThe Big IdeaHaving an ADHD brain means you're wired for abundant creativity. The challenge isn't generating ideas—it's knowing which ones deserve your energy and how to move them from concept to completion without burning out or abandoning ship halfway through.Sarah's approach: treat your ideas like they matter, but give them structure so they don't hijack your focus. What to Listen For The Reality of Being a Creative PolymathFor many ADHD entrepreneurs, being interested in multiple things isn't a distraction —it's how they're built. Sarah explains why being a polymath is actually an advantage in today's business landscape, as long as you set boundaries around what gets your attention. The "Catching Butterflies" System: Capture, Connect, Structure, Iterate, Express, ReflectSarah walks through her six-stage process for managing creative output. It starts with capturing every idea without judgment, then moves through connecting related concepts, building structure around the keepers, iterating on them, expressing them in the world, and reflecting on what worked. Simple in concept, powerful in practice.Using AI as Your Digital Thought PartnerBoth Sarah and I use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) to externalize our thinking. Instead of letting ideas swirl in our heads, we dump them into our AI assistants to help us organize, connect dots, and build project folders. It's like having a patient colleague who never gets tired of your tangents. The 3D Jenga Model for Interconnected ProjectsRather than treating each business or project as a standalone tower that could topple, Sarah visualizes her work as a 3D Jenga structure. Each piece supports the others. When one idea doesn't work out, the whole thing doesn't collapse—the remaining pieces actually get stronger.Energy Management Over Time ManagementReflection isn't self-indulgence—it's how you build a feedback loop that keeps you moving forward. Regular check-ins about how you feel, what your vision is, and whether your projects still serve that vision help you stay aligned instead of spinning your...

Their crimes were horrific, and after they were caught, they gave very different accounts of what happened and each other's involvement.
