NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio. This week, Kelley, Vashitta, and Gabe discuss our win in Toledo! Capital Care Network, Toledo's only abortion provider, received their license this week. Northwest Ohio women will again have the trusted physicians' office to turn to for safe and legal abortion care. Donald Trump also announced a new "gag rule" that will prevent doctors from discussing abortion care with patients if they also provide family planning care funded by federal Title X grants. This is very bad. Join NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio at an event near you: https://www.facebook.com/pg/NARALProChoiceOhio/events/

Our Executive Director Kellie Copeland took over the podcast this week and welcomed back Stephanie Sherwood, Executive Director of Woman Have Options / Ohio! WHO/O just wrapped another successful fundraising season as a Bowl-a-Thon partner with the National Network of Abortion Funds. As Ohio's largest abortion fund, WHO/O is instrumental in providing direct financial assistance to low-income women seeking abortion care. WHO/O grants may pay for medical services or be used to offset travel to a clinic. This month, these services are even more necessary as we wait for the Ohio Department of Health to re-issue the license for Capital Care Network, Toledo's only abortion provider. Email ODH Director Lance Himes to demand a license. Don't forget to plan to vote on May 8th, or to vote early. For more information on where and when to vote in your community visit MyOhioVote.com. Created Equal is leading a demonstration along with other pro-life activists in Toledo to ask two local hospitals, ProMedica and St. Luke's, to keep their word and stay out of the grisly business of abortion. Ohio state law requires ambulatory surgical centers, like Capital Care network’s Toledo abortion facility, to have a transfer agreement with a local hospital. To date, Toledo’s ProMedica Hospital had chosen not to provide Capital Care the transfer agreement. Randy Oostra, President and CEO of ProMedica, previously said, "Toledo ProMedica Hospital does not have transfer agreements with abortion clinics. However, with or without a transfer agreement, we will perform any necessary treatment of women, or any patient, in need of emergent care." However, following the Supreme Court decision last week, ProMedica spokesman Tedra White stated, "At this point, ProMedica has not changed its position; obviously we’re considering it. We feel like this Ohio Supreme Court decision warrants a review of the issue, but we have not changed our position." In response, Created Equal first led a campaign to generate phone calls and emails to ProMedica, urging them not to collaborate with Capital Care. Call ProMedica CEO Randy Oostra (567-585-3562). Call Dan Wakeman, CEO 419-893-5902 Write: Randy Oostra, CEO & PresidentProMedica Health System Corporate5520 Monroe StreetSylvania, OH 43560 Dan Wakeman, CEOSt. Luke’s Hospital5901 Monclova RoadMaumee, OH 43537 Urge them to stay out of the abortion controversy between the State of Ohio and Capital Care Network.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court of Ohioheard the case of Capital Care Network of Toledo v. Ohio Department of Health, which has a lawless Toledo abortion clinic ON THE ROPES due to its numerous and longstanding violations of Ohio law.Why is Capital Care Network going to lose this case? Mark Harrington says it's because abortion is NOT HEALTH CARE, and abortion mills are NOT CLINICS. Abortion clinics wishing to be treated as "HEALTH CLINICS" can't have their cake and eat it too. Written transfer agreements are ROUTINE for all surgical centers, and if abortion clinics want to be considered health clinics (which is what they've INSISTED on being called), they should be required to meet basic surgical standards!Abortion facilities, like any other ambulatory surgical facility (ASF) in Ohio, must have a transfer agreement (TA) with a local hospital. According to Ohio law only private hospitals can make TAs with abortion facilities. In Toledo, no private hospital wants to make a TA with the last remaining abortion clinic in the city.Health care facilities don’t want to be affiliated with abortionists and abortion mills because they are tired of cleaning up their messes. THIS is why Capital Care of Toledo WILL LOSE THIS CASE! You can watch The Mark Harrington Show LIVE every Thursday at 1pm ET on Created Equal Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts. If you can't catch him live, you can subscribe to Mark via podcast to listen any time!
