The Life Movement and the Way Forward with Peter Range of Ohio Right to Life In the aftermath of the effort to defeat the passage of Issue 1, the abortion rights amendment, the pro-life movement is re-engaging to educate a younger voter and to start the discussion to advance a pro-life culture among 18-35 year-olds. Exit polls indicated that the pro-life community fared poorly with this age demographic. We must change that trajectory if we are going to build a culture of life with the current generation. Peter shares that he attended the March for Life for many years and participated with the marchers. But this year, he wanted to watch them walk by and witness who had come from across the country to make a stand for life. He was moved to tears watching the tens of thousands of young people who had come to march for life in our nation's capitol. We discuss some strategies of how we will continue to advocate for life through education and public policy. Tune in and tell a friend.
Bob talks with Peter Range, Executive Director of Ohio Right to Life, about the passage of Issue 1 in Ohio, the Constitutional Amendment entitled "The Right to Reproductive Freedom". What did we learn, what can we do legislatively to limit its effects, and what should we do in our every day lives to continue to promote a culture of life. Support the show

Ohio school choice program with Greg Lawson. Vote NO in November with Lizzy Marbach. Ohio's ed choice program has been expanded to historic levels here in the State of Ohio. Over 100,000 have registered for the program so far this year. To apply for ed choice money for your child, you can make application for this year's school tuition until June 30, 2024. Greg Lawson, Research Fellow at the Buckeye Institute, and a champion of the ed choice program, explains in detail how parents and students benefit from the new school choice program, whether it's public school, private school, charter school, or a combination for each of their students, Ohio's ed choice program is a win-win for everyone. Click here to see Ohio EdChoice program details and the income chart per family and dollar amount for each student. Part 2 Interview with Lizzy Marbach, former communications director of Ohio Right to Life Lizzie and I discuss the recent August election on Issue 1's defeat. What can we learn from it and what must Christians and pro-life leaders do to defeat the radical abortion ballot issue in November? 1.3 million Ohioans voted for Issue One. 1.7 million Ohioans voted against it. As one analyst said in a recent report, these numbers do not portend a guarantee for the abortion ballot measure. Some Ohioans who voted no in August will also vote no in November. But, because Issue 1 failed, it will be a simple majority vote of 51% for passage. The Ballot Board meets this week and will assign issue numbers to both the abortion ballot issue and to the marijuana legalization issue. It's imperative for Ohioans to come out in big numbers and vote no in November.

Breaking News - Abortion issue will be on November ballot - We must pass Issue 1 on Aug 8th to save Ohio's unborn! The Ohio SOS today announced that the ACLU-led abortion ballot group has secured enough signatures to be on the November ballot. If this radical abortion ballot proposal passes, it will legalize abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy in Ohio. If it passes, all of Ohio's pro-life reasonable laws will be stricken from the books, including Ohio's ban on partial-birth abortion and Ohio's parental rights notification law. It is an emergency for Ohio Christians to get out and vote YES on Issue 1 on August 8th. Joining me on today's program is the President of Created Equal, Mark Harrington, to discuss the August special election on protecting Ohio's constitution by raising the Constitutional amendment passage threshold to 60 percent. Issue 1 Who's for, who's against tells the story with Mike Gonidakis of ORTL On today's program, we are joined by Ohio Right to Life President Mike Gonidakis who gives us an update on the Issue 1 campaign. Momentum is building in the faith community in support of Issue 1 on the August 8th Special Election. The proposed constitutional amendment will increase the threshold to 60 percent for passage of any future constitutional amendment proposal. It will also require that signatures be gathered from all of Ohio's 88 counties, not just a few. Mike Gonidakis points out the organizations supporting Issue 1 and the radical leftist organizations that oppose its passage.

Mike and Laura have been meeting with pastors in gatherings to discuss the importance of defense of the unborn and how people of faith can lend their voices to support the life movement and protect the unborn. In the last two months, they have been urging pastors to share with their congregations the importance of the passage of Issue 1 on August 8th.

It's Friday, July 14th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Afghan Christians continue to suffer under the Taliban Since the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, religious and civil liberties have rapidly deteriorated under Taliban rule. Christians face regular raids on their homes by the Taliban, frequently receive threats against their jobs and families, and lack access to educational opportunities, reports International Christian Concern. The Taliban has practically eradicated on-the-ground relief efforts by aid groups. Plus, because it's working to completely erase Christianity from the country many Christians have gone underground to avoid being kidnapped by the Taliban “courts.” The rising starvation rates and increasing poverty in Afghanistan create an even higher security threat to these believers since the Taliban is now offering financial compensation to anyone who reports on Christians. Unless ransomed by their families, Christians captured by the “courts” face brutal torture and even death. If redeemed, the survivors and their families, often bankrupt from the exorbitant ransom demands, must flee their homes to avoid repeated kidnappings from the various Taliban gangs. Because many Afghani Muslims are dissatisfied with their religion, they are open to Christianity despite the risks. Believers are hosting secret prayer meetings which is incredibly courageous, considering the implications. Acts 5:29 says, “We ought to obey God rather than man.” Secret Service closes cocaine investigation in The White House On Thursday, the Secret Service officially and mysteriously closed its investigation into how cocaine ended up in the West Wing of the White House without identifying a suspect, reports ABC News. In its report, the Secret Service said, "There was no surveillance video footage found that provided investigative leads or any other means for investigators to identify who may have deposited the found substance in this area." Hollywood shuts down as actors go on strike Tens of thousands of Hollywood actors went on strike at midnight Thursday, effectively bringing the giant movie and television business to a halt as they join writers in the first industry-wide walkout for 63 years, reports AFP. The Screen Actors Guild issued a strike order after last-ditch talks with studios on their demands over dwindling pay and the threat posed by artificial intelligence ended without a deal. College student caught vandalizing pregnancy center A college student is facing federal charges for the vandalism of a pro-life pregnancy center in Ohio, as many similar organizations have been vandalized or firebombed following the U.S. Supreme Court's determination that the U.S. Constitution does not contain a right to abortion, reports The Christian Post. Last week, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio announced that Whitney Durant, a 20-year-old Bowling Green State University student, also known as “Soren Monroe,” is facing federal misdemeanor charges for vandalizing a pro-life pregnancy center in Bowling Green, Ohio. On April 15, Ohio Right to Life announced that the Bowling Green Pregnancy Center had been vandalized with the phrases "Fake Clinic," "Jane's Revenge," "Fund Abortion" and "Abort God" on the exterior wall of the pro-life center while the word "Liars" was spray-painted on the window. Jane's Revenge, a pro-abortion terrorist group, is named after the Jane's Collective in Chicago, prior to 1973, who helped mothers kill their babies illegally through abortion. On Whitney's Facebook page, she describes herself as "a communist trying to spread the gay agenda" who uses "all pronouns." One public post on her page is an ironic request to give money to the National Abortion Rights Action League to celebrate her birthday. But apparently, the abortion terrorist doesn't want to allow children inside the womb the blessing of having a birthday. In Psalm 139:13-14, King David wrote, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb.” 14-year-old Canadian donates his tithe money to The Worldview Theo Jantz, a 14-year-old Worldview listener in Sexsmith, Alberta, Canada, graciously donated $13.13. We tithe 10% of the money we earn. And that was just the money that had collected in the jar over time. And I wanted to do something with it. So, I decided to give it to The Worldview.” He explained why he gave the unusual amount of $13.13. THEO: “I did $13.13 because at the moment, it's ‘something' dollars and 88 cents, I think. I thought it'd be funny to hear ‘something' [dollars] and one cent.” Theo cited the sources for the money he has earned. THEO: “Well, it would come from three different things. [1] Picking weeds. We get paid by the garbage can. (laughs) [2] And I sell stuff for my dad and get 10% on a Canadian Craigslist. Random stuff that he has around that he doesn't really want anymore. [3] I have a very, very small business that I've made of cleaning cars.” The 14-year-old talked about a story he especially liked from Thursday's newscast. THEO: “I liked the story of the archaeologist who found Sodom. I thought that was really interesting. I really liked the part where the pottery was melted and burned. It was really good proof that it actually was Sodom. We listen to it as a family in the morning, in our morning time. I like the ending where you say ‘seize the day for Jesus Christ. ' And our whole family says it with you.” Listen to Theo's challenge to Worldview listeners. THEO: “I would like to encourage other people who have their tithing jar piling up to give it to The Worldview or to some other worthy cause.” McMANUS: “Theo, I really appreciate it. It means so much because every little bit helps.” THEO: “Thank you!” McMANUS: “God bless you. Bye bye now.” THEO: “Bye.” 16 Worldview listeners gave $5,053.13 Wow! We exceeded the 10-donor goal yesterday by 6 donors as 16 Worldview listeners gave toward our $80,000 goal by Monday, July 31st to keep this unique Christian newscast on the air. Our thanks to Theo in Sexsmith, Alberta, Canada who gave $13.13 as well as Faith in Coeur D Alene, Idaho, Mary in Chaska, Minnesota, Bonnie in Happy Valley, Oregon, Brenda in Simla, Colorado, and Jerry in Booneville, Mississippi – each of whom gave $50. We thank God for B.C. in Grandview, Washington who gave $100, as well as Raymond in Las Cruces, New Mexico and Dawna in Troy, Montana – both of whom gave $150, Elaine in San Antonio, Texas who gave $200, and Cheryl in Cumming, Georgia who pledged $20/month for 12 months for a total gift of $240. And we're grateful for the generosity of Joe and Emily in Alexandria, Indiana who gave $250 as well as Kenneth in Carthage, North Carolina and Luke in Esperance, Washington – both of whom gave $300, Andrew in Calgary, Alberta, Canada who pledged $25/month for 12 months for a total gift of $300, and an anonymous donor in Bardstown, Kentucky who gave $2,800. Those 16 new donations add up to $5,053.13. Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (Drum roll sound effect) $19,957.01 (Crowd cheering sound effect) In order to hit our $40,000 immediate goal by midnight tonight, we still need to raise $20,042.99. Could you be one of 10 Worldview listeners to pledge $100/month for 12 months? Then, we would need 6 to pledge $50/month for 12 months. And another 12 listeners to pledge $25/month for 12 months. We are half way through the race. It would be so exciting to announce on Monday that you helped us reach the $40,000 midway goal! *Note: I reached out to Ohio Right to Life to provide them with the opportunity to appear on the show, as well, but they did not respond to my request. Petitions to add abortion to the November ballot in Ohio were recently submitted, and on this week's Community Focus, I'm joined by one of the many who worked to collect signatures: Megan Schmidt, a pro-abortion rights activist.

This is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief for Friday, May 26th, 2023. https://www.dailywire.com/news/college-enrollment-keeps-sliding-even-three-years-after-lockdowns College Enrollment Keeps Sliding Even Three Years After Lockdowns Enrollment for most forms of postsecondary education in the United States continued to decline three years after nationwide lockdowns forced many students to temporarily continue their degrees online, according to a new analysis from the National Student Clearinghouse. Public four-year institutions saw a 0.8% enrollment decline as of spring 2023, a somewhat less severe decrease than the 1.2% decline recorded in 2022 but more pronounced than the 0.3% decline in 2021 and the 0.2% decline in 2020. Private four-year nonprofit institutions meanwhile witnessed a 1.0% decrease in 2023, compared to the 1.2% decrease in 2022, the 0.4% decrease in 2021, and the 0.6% decrease in 2020. There are currently 7.1 million students enrolled in public four-year colleges and 3.9 million students enrolled in private four-year nonprofit colleges, marking drops from 7.3 million and 4.0 million enrolled students, respectively, from spring 2019, the last year which was not affected by the lockdowns. “Undergraduates at public and private nonprofit four-year institutions are still declining but at slower rates,” the analysis from the National Student Clearinghouse summarized. “Total postsecondary enrollment remains well below pre-pandemic levels.” Community college enrollment nevertheless increased 0.5% as of spring 2023, a phenomenon driven by “dual enrolled high school students and freshmen,” while the number of students pursuing graduate or professional degrees plummeted 2.2% from last year. The postsecondary education marketplace has been critically disrupted by the lockdowns and the advent of virtual instruction, realities which increasingly prompted students to question the time and funds they devote toward their college degrees. Elevated levels of student debt, which officials in the Biden administration are seeking to address through an executive order to cancel $10,000 in loans for every borrower earning less than $125,000, have also prompted many students to pause or discontinue their education. The debt forgiveness policy was recently examined by the Supreme Court, which is expected to release an opinion on the controversial move within the next month. Lockdowns also severely diminished learning outcomes at the primary and secondary levels. The most recent National Assessment of Educational Progress showed that average reading scores for nine-year-olds plummeted five points and average mathematics scores dropped seven points, marking the first score decline for reading in three decades and the first score decline for mathematics in the history of the initiative. Stanford University economist and Hoover Institution senior fellow Eric Hanushek revealed in a recent study that learning losses could cause affected students to lose between 2% and 9% of their lifetime earnings as they miss the opportunity to learn critical skills, reducing prospects for future nationwide economic growth. Parents concerned about the impact of lockdowns on education have removed their children from government schools at an unprecedented rate. The number of homeschooled students increased from 2.7 million in 2020 to 3.1 million in 2023, according to a study from the National Home Education Research Institute. To find out more, visit: nsa.edu https://www.theblaze.com/news/member-group-of-coalition-pushing-extreme-abortion-initiative-in-ohio-fighting-to-undercut-parental-rights Coalition pushing extreme abortion initiative in Ohio says it isn't trying to undermine parental rights. A member group's explicit agenda suggests otherwise. A leftist coalition is working to roll back Ohio's few remaining abortion restrictions by way of a proposed constitutional amendment. Some opposition groups have suggested that this craftily worded proposal will not only enable late-term abortions, but undermine parental rights on these and other matters of life and death, including the ability to protect children from sex-change mutilations. While proponents of member groups in the coalition have claimed the amendment will not undermine parental rights, recently highlighted remarks made by a key player behind the abortion initiative have done little to inspire confidence. Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights and Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom PAC are leading the charge to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution by way of an initiated constitutional amendment called the "Ohio Right to Make Reproductive Decisions Including Abortion Initiative." The proposal to put this abortion initiative on the November 2023 ballot was certified in March by the state attorney general. The proposed amendment further states that the "state shall not, directly or indirectly, burden, penalize, prohibit, interfere with, or discriminate against either: 1. An individual's voluntary exercise of this right or 2. A person or entity that assists an individual exercising this right, unless the State demonstrates that it is using the least restrictive means to advance the individual's health in accordance with widely accepted and evidence-based standards of care." The only ostensible restriction on abortion admitted in the amendment leaves determinations as to whether a viable human being can be exterminated up to abortionists. Parental rights are implicated and eroded under the amendment, argued the pro-life activists, because "'reproductive decisions' is a very broad term, and is intentionally included to stop any effort to put reasonable restrictions or enforce parental rights on a wide array of other destructive decisions—potentially including sex change surgeries." Carrie Severino and Frank Scaturro of the Judicial Crisis Network concurred, noting in National Review that "'reproductive decisions' ... is a very broad term. By explicitly defining such decisions as 'not limited to' the enumerated categories, the proposal establishes its scope as sweeping. A natural reading would extend to any medical procedure that involves the human reproductive system, including sex-change surgery." Extra to potentially affecting parents' ability to protect their children from sex-change mutilations and devastating puberty blockers, Dannenfelser and Sekulow highlighted how "if Ohio adopts the amendment, the state's supreme court can be expected to go even farther than the U.S. Supreme Court ever did in undoing the state's parental consent laws," in part by "outlawing any legal requirement for a parent to be notified about or consent before an abortion—or any other procedure related to 'reproduction decisions'—is performed on their child." https://twitter.com/i/status/1636019433578672130 - Play Video https://www.military.com/daily-news/2023/05/23/va-cant-account-187-million-emergency-covid-19-funding.html VA Can't Account for $187 Million in Emergency COVID-19 Funding The Department of Veterans Affairs can’t account for at least $187 million in supplementary COVID-19 funding spread across more than 10,000 transactions related to the pandemic, according to a House oversight committee. Congress and the VA are at odds over the department's handling of nearly $37 billion in additional funding it received to address the COVID-19 pandemic, with House Veterans Affairs Committee leaders on both sides of the aisle critical of its failure to account for every dime. Chairman Mike Bost, R-Ill., and ranking member Rep. Mark Takano, D-Calif., praised the department for its pandemic response overall but called the VA out for its inability to account for the money, during a hearing sidetracked by GOP rancor over the department's messaging on debt ceiling legislation. Between 2020 and 2021, the VA received roughly $37 billion to address COVID-19 response, including an initial $60 million, followed by $19.6 billion in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act and another $17 billion in the American Rescue Plan. As part of the deal to receive the funding, the department was required to account for its spending, a mandate underscored by passage in November 2021 of the VA Transparency and Trust Act. Across a series of 40 reviews and reports, the VA Office of Inspector General found numerous accounting issues involving the COVID-19 funds, including a lack of visibility over payroll, some contracts and medical supplies. The IG said the problems are attributable to the department's decentralized management structure, as well as an outdated financial information technology software – that it doesn't expect to modernize for another decade. It determined that the department was challenged by inaccurate payroll accounting; used manual transfers and adjustments to its financial management systems that led to at least 53 reporting errors; had problems with supply acquisition, such as duplicate purchases; and failed to properly oversee its efforts to provide telehealth hardware to veterans, namely distributing tablet computers and cell phones so they could access health care but not recouping the equipment when the veteran failed to use it. Given the issues, both Bost and Takano said they have concerns for the $2.1 billion remaining in American Rescue Plan funds, with Bost and fellow Republicans saying the money should be returned, while Takano pressed the VA to be more transparent as it continues using the funding. VA officials told the committee Tuesday that the department will spend the remaining American Rescue Plan money by the end of the fiscal year for programs initiated during the pandemic such as housing and telehealth for homeless veterans; prosthetics and medical research, including studies of long COVID; and on preventing the spread of contagious diseases in hospital and administrative settings. https://www.outkick.com/matt-araiza-jets-workout-allegations-cleared-up/ NEW YORK JETS WORKING OUT MATT ARAIZA TWO WEEKS AFTER PUNTER’S NAME WAS CLEARED OF GANG RAPE ALLEGATIONS Matt Araiza has landed his first workout with an NFL team since being cut by the Buffalo Bills ahead of last season over gang rape allegations. The New York Jets are giving the free-agent punter a look, according to Adam Schefter. Matt Araiza was cut by the Bills in August 2022 shortly after an allegation was made public that he had taken part in the gang rape of a minor while attending San Diego State. Fast-forward nine months to May of this year, and it has been determined that he was not present at the time of the incident that allegedly took place in October 2021. The transcript of a meeting between the accuser and prosecutors was brought to light just over two weeks ago in which investigators explained that they do not believe Araiza was present at the time of the alleged assault. Prosecutors in the San Diego District Attorney’s Office declined to file criminal charges, but Araiza is still facing a civil suit that he has no plans of settling anytime soon. Despite that there wasn’t a single fact was known about the alleged incident, the Bills caved to the portion of the public who had already deemed the punter guilty and cut him shortly before the start of the 2022 NFL regular season.

Mike Gonidakis and Ohio Right to Life see abortion as a black and white issue. Every fetus deserves to be born. Period. But many Ohioans see it differently. There's the matter of a woman's right to autonomy over her body. There are economic and family problems that push women to abort. And low income women especially are affected by an abortion ban. It all comes down to an individual's moral stance, doesn't it? And if that's true, then why should the government get involved?Listen to our conversation with Mike.

Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, the pro-life movement has struggled to curb the growth of abortion. Pro-life advocates have lost five votes on constitutional amendments in California, Vermont, Kentucky, Kansas, Montana, and Michigan. For several decades, polling indicates that Americans want abortion to remain legal in most cases. Despite the overturning of Roe, the pro-life movement has yet to win over the American public. In this episode of "The Mark Harrington Show", Peter Range from Ohio Right to Life will join Mark as a guest. Peter will discuss the likelihood of pro-abortion advocates introducing an abortion amendment in Ohio and suggest ways to defeat it. The pro-life movement must now focus on defense. To effectively defend winnable states, the movement should retreat from "occupied states". However, the pro-life movement's lack of cooperation may prevent such a strategy from being adopted. Groups and leaders are often protective of their resources and donors. This strategy may require reallocating resources to battleground states, at least temporarily. If the pro-life movement doesn't change its approach and work together, it could be in an even worse position in five years than it was before Roe v. Wade was overturned. The movement risks losing the gains it has made over recent decades if it doesn't fight together. It's time to treat this battle as a land war and make strategic decisions to retreat and defend winnable states. Once these states are secure, the movement can start to retake the ground it has lost. Important update on Ohio's Heartbeat Law with Ohio RTL President Mike Gonidakis Ohio's Heartbeat Law currently has a judicial stay on it from a common pleas court in Hamilton County, Ohio. Judge Jenkins today extended that stay an additional fourteen days. Abortions are currently being performed for up to 20 weeks. The judge has until October 7th to issue a decision on the case. It could be disastrous, not only for Ohio's Heartbeat law but for all of Ohio's abortion restrictions. Mike Gonidakis, President of Ohio Right to Life breaks this news on today's News in Focus program. It is not known what the Democrat common pleas judge might do, but pro-life Ohioans should be prepared. The worst-case scenario is that abortion would be legal to the ninth month in Ohio like California and New York. Of course, the case will be appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court, but many believe it would be best to wait until after the election, making the Ohio Supreme Court races the most important Ohio Supreme Court races in many years. It will literally be a life and death decision for the unborn in Ohio. Tune in and hear this important informative interview with OCA President Chris Long and Ohio Right to Life President Mike Gonidakis.

Mike is President of Ohio Right to Life. He says the Heartbeat Bill that became law in Ohio this year, but has been held up in court, could be the catalyst for overturning Roe v. Wade.
Dispatch public affairs editor Darrel Rowland speaks with reporters Jim Siegel and Ben Deeter regarding the topic of abortion. During this we discuss the current laws that Ohio has in place regarding abortion, what the so called “heartbeat bill” entails, and look at what other states are doing nationally on the topic. Finally, we explain how the Ohio Right to Life group is involved in this, discuss what the “Abortion Pill Reversal Information Act” consists of, and speculate if the Supreme Court’s decision of Roe v. Wade could be overturned.
Stephanie Ranade Krider is the Executive Director of Ohio Right to Life, a politically strategic pro-life organization. Dave asks her what life would look like for the most vulnerable women in states like Alabama if the constitutional right to abortion were overturned.

As the Ohio Heartbeat Bill receives another round of hearings in the Ohio legislature, some discussion of political tactics has re-emerged. After what happened in the lame duck session, when Ohio lawmakers came one vote away from overriding then Gov. John Kasich’s veto, we know there are more than likely enough votes to pass the Heartbeat Bill. Now, Ohio has a governor who will sign the bill and it could be put into law sometime very soon. Of course, there is the typical opposition from abortion supporters. Oddly, in past years the bill was opposed by Ohio Right to Life. But this time around, opposition isn’t coming from Ohio Right to Life (who now supports the bill). In the past, some incrementalists opposed the bill because it went too far. This time some pro-life advocates are opposing the legislation because it doesn’t go far enough. Aided by an interview with former State Representative Christian Hagan, Mark tackles this difficult topic by comparing both views. With the changing composition of the Supreme Court, and the uncertain status of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, there could soon be enough justices to overturn Roe v Wade, which would return the abortion issue back where it belongs to the state legislatures. This is another reason why we need to understand the best way forward. This is the debut of Ohio Right to Life's podcast, Back to Life! This week, Jamieson Weaver, our Director of Communications, and Jessica Koehler, our Director of Legislative Affairs, talk about what is going on in Pro-Life Ohio, and five things you should know!
Description: This week, Kelley, Elaina, and Gabe discussed the US Senate vote to defeat Skinny Repeal that would destroy Americans' access to affordable health care and block Planned Parenthood from Medicaid funding. Also, they talk about this week's federal court hearing to challenge John Kasich's latest plan to defund Planned Parenthood at the state level. Elaina spoke up against Ohio Right to Life's latest announcement that they really, really, don't support rape survivors. She has a letter in the Columbus Dispatch: “As a rape survivor and a committed Christian, I'm deeply disturbed by Ohio Right to Life's decision to only endorse candidates that “hold a ‘pro-life' position with no exceptions to abortion stemming from rape or incest (Dispatch article, last Friday).” “No woman should be forced to carry a pregnancy against her will, no matter the circumstance. As the executive director of the Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, I faithfully advocate for compassionate reproductive care for all — including full access to contraceptives, adoption, abortion, and foster care. Anything less violates the lived experiences and moral agency of Ohio women, particularly survivors of rape and incest. Given that 1 in 3 women will experience physical or sexual violence, Ohio Right to Life's hard-line agenda perpetuates a rape culture. Rape survivors should not be punished and traumatized further to carry a pregnancy to term without their full consent. Whether or not to become a parent is a sacred decision and should remain personal and private. While Ohio Right to Life claims to be nonsectarian, it has a long history of using toxic Christian rhetoric to restrict women's reproductive health-care access. The actions of Ohio Right to Life do not represent my faith, that of other religious traditions, nor the will of most women across our state.” ~ Elaina Ramsey NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Executive Director Kellie Copeland issued a statement: “This new low standard in the Ohio Right to Life endorsement criteria further solidifies their alignment with extremists like President Donald Trump who believe that women who have abortions should be punished. These values are not Ohio values. Women deserve access to safe, legal abortion care in their communities without judgment or political interference—regardless of the reason she is unable to continue a pregnancy. Here at NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, we trust women to make their own reproductive health decisions, and we will continue to back candidates that do as well.” Also in the Dispatch, the newspaper issued their third editorial criticizing Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharen Kennedy for participating in an anti-abortion event before hearing a case about Toledo's last abortion clinic: “The high court should modernize its process for handling complaints against one of its own. This is disappointing given that this court has been open with the public. This falls short of its own standard.”
