Are Billboards Worth It for Home Service Businesses? (Or Just an Expensive Ego Boost?)Billboards can feel like a milestone for a growing home service company—your name on the highway, customers saying they saw your brand, friends texting photos of your sign. But for most HVAC, plumbing, and electrical companies, billboard advertising starts too early and becomes an expensive distraction from what actually drives growth: leads. In this episode, John Wilson sits down with Sam Preston (CEO of Service Scalers) for another installment of the Clicks to Calls series. They break down when billboards actually work, when they don't, and why most contractors under $20M are usually better off buying more leads instead of investing heavily in brand campaigns. They also unpack what makes a billboard memorable, why density matters more than just “having one,” and how brand channels like billboards show up in your data through branded search rather than traditional attribution. You'll learn:When billboards actually make sense for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical companiesThe biggest mistake contractors make: running one or two billboards instead of building densityWhy most companies under ~$20M should prioritize buying leads over brand marketingHost: John Wilson — https://x.com/WilsonCompanies Guest: Sam Preston — https://x.com/HeySamPrestonBreak through the $5M ceiling.Join John Wilson and Jack Carr May 5–7, 2026 in Akron, Ohio for the Breaking $5 Million Workshop—a 3-day, in-person event for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical owners ready to scale. Send a textMost marketing reports tell a neat story that isn't true. We peel back the layers with Jeff from Provalytics to show how real customers actually find and choose a contractor—and why single-source attribution keeps leading teams astray. Think of it as a tour through the “dash” between first touch and last touch, where attention becomes awareness, awareness becomes preference, and preference shows up as revenue when the system fails on a 102-degree day.We start with the mess: platforms that overcount conversions, privacy updates that stripped away hyper-targeting, and CRMs that force a one-source label on multi-touch journeys. Jeff breaks down a simple fix with outsized impact—track impressions alongside clicks, calls, and bookings. When you watch impressions daily, you'll see how demand builds before it converts, and you'll finally know whether that Meta video, CTV spot, or direct mail drop did the heavy lifting while Google just closed the loop. From there, we get practical. Billboards don't need QR codes to work; trucks are mobile billboards that make you familiar before the emergency; magnets can produce for years with a single tracking number. We map sprints and marathons across channels, separate aggregator leads so they don't sink your averages, and reframe success around revenue per lead and booking rates instead of raw volume. Expect different timelines by channel, embrace the carryover or “drag” effect, and accept that some value is real even when it isn't perfectly measurable. The mindset shift is simple: be less wrong this month than last month. Weather changes, rates move, teams evolve, and platforms rewrite rules. When you track impressions, clicks, bookings, and revenue together, you get the confidence to pivot fast or ride out campaigns with patience. That's how you build a durable brand, control your demand, and own your market. If this hit home, follow the show, share it with a fellow contractor, and leave a quick review so more pros can measure what truly matters. If you enjoyed this chat From the Yellow Chair, consider joining our newsletter, "Let's Sip Some Lemonade," where you can receive exclusive interviews, our bank of helpful downloadables, and updates on upcoming content. Bruno Mars : Le jour où le vintage a repris le pouvoir

La Story Nostalgie

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 12, 2026 3:25

Lai is a British Citizen and an adherent of the Catholic Church. World journalists are marking the case as a worldwide setback for freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The United Kingdom home office has responded to the news. The Hong Kong Free Press reports that “British national status holders will be able to immigrate into the U.K. with their children. The office estimates that 26,000 people will arrive in the U.K. over the next five years.” Thousands of Tanzanians murdered Political upheaval, tyranny, and blood in the streets is the order of the day in Tanzania over the last few months.  Some reports have revealed the government of President Samia Suluhu Hassan killed thousands of Tanzanians. Hassan is a Muslim who was re-elected in a landslide victory last October, marred by accusations of massive fraud.  That's when the African country was plunged into chaos and rioting.  The bloodshed and terror has gone on for months, reports The Washington Stand. In an effort to conceal the atrocities taking place there, the government has reportedly shut down the internet. Tanzania is at least nominally Christian with a 57 percent Christian population and a 37 percent Muslim population, as the Muslim creep hits south Saharan Africa. Christian martyrdom grows with Muslim population in Nigeria Islamic influence is growing in Nigeria as well — a nation where 56 percent of the population is Muslim and 43 percent is Christian. This has resulted in the martyrdom of 50,000 Christians and the displacement of millions of Christians from their homeland.   Pray for our Christian brothers and sisters and the people of Tanzania, Nigeria, and Uganda.  Civilian killings continue in Nigeria Last Tuesday, almost 200 Nigerians were killed by gunmen in the communities of Woro and Katsina, reports the International Center for Transitional Justice. Woro is located in the western Nigerian state of Kwara, while Katsina is in the northern region of the country. Psalm 35:1 says, “Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.” War Department will no longer work with Harvard War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the War Department will no longer send military officers to Harvard. He slammed the university for what he called its support of terrorism and the Chinese Communist Party.   Hegseth said, “Too many of our officers came back looking too much like Harvard — heads full of globalist and radical ideologies that do not improve our fighting ranks.” The War Department is set to re-evaluate all Ivy League school partnerships.  Virginia Democrats unveil gerrymandered congressional map Democrat lawmakers in Virginia put forward a new congressional map heading into the midterm elections this November. The Old Dominion state map heavily favors Democrats, giving them four extra seats, while the Republicans would lose four seats. This comes after the Supreme Court ruled that the new congressional map for California was valid, giving Democrats five additional seats. Virginia Democrats swept the last election, winning races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General.  All told, gerrymandering in Virginia, California, and a few other states should yield the Democrats an additional 5 to 9 seats in Congress in 2026. And gerrymandering in Texas, North Carolina, and Missouri could yield the Republicans an additional 6 to 10 seats in the upcoming election. Connecticut works to expand abortion access Connecticut is launching a billboard campaign to promote abortion and death, reports LifeSiteNews. The campaign, sponsored by the Reproductive Equity Now Foundation, is advertising the state's commitment to make the killing of unborn children more accessible. Billboards will announce a state-provided pro-abortion hotline.  Connecticut Democrat Attorney General William Tong talked about his state's culture of death. He said, “Abortion is safe, legal and accessible here in Connecticut, and that's the way it's going to stay.”  But Proverbs 31:9 instructs us to “Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” GOP Rep chastises NBC & NFL for Bad Bunny's foul lyrics And finally, Sunday's Super Bowl half-time show turned into one big leftist political statement with Benito Ocasio, known as Bad Bunny, and a few other characters, who openly opposed President Trump's “America First” policies.   To his shame, the Puerto Rican singer sang a bunch of foul-mouthed, sexually-explicit lyrics in Spanish. Republican Congressman Randy Fine of Florida did not pull any punches in his X post. He wrote, “You can't say the f-word on live TV. Bad Bunny's disgusting halftime show was illegal. Had he said these lyrics -- and all of the other disgusting and pornographic filth -- in English on live TV, the broadcast would have been pulled down and the fines would have been enormous. “We are sending FCC Chairman Brendan Carr a letter calling for dramatic action, including fines and broadcast license reviews, against the NFL, NBC, and Bad Bunny. Lock them up.” You can send a short 2-4 sentence letter to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, urging him to levy these fines.  The address is Federal Communications Commission, 45 L Street NE, Washington, DC 20554. Kid Rock, on Turning Point USA's half-time show, pointed to Christ Meanwhile, Turning Point USA, founded by the late Charlie Kirk, simulcast their alternative “All-American Halftime Show” featuring Robert Ritchie known as Kid Rock. Some 20 to 30 million Americans tuned in, reports Fox News. Kid Rock threw in another verse to the hit song “Til You Can't.” Check out the lyrics. KID ROCK: “There's a book a'sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off . . . There's a man who died for all our sins a'hanging from the cross. You can give your life to Jesus and He'll give you a second chance, till you can't.”  Other performers included Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.  War Secretary Pete Hegseth and House Speaker Mike Johnson both praised the Turning Point event, reports Politico. Extra stories Trump administration provides lower costs on prescription drugs President Donald Trump unveiled Trump Rx, a plan that brings down medicine costs for American citizens. Trump Rx negotiates lower rates with drug companies, passing the savings directly to the consumer. The plan specifically helps those who pay for medications out of pocket. The president is calling on lawmakers to pass healthcare reform through Congress to further codify his agenda.   Senator launches caucus against Sharia Law Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama launched the new Sharia-Free America Caucus in the U.S. Congress, and has introduced a bill to ban Sharia Law in the United States. Tuberville said, “The strength of our country comes from one law applied equally to all. We cannot allow competing systems of governance to weaken that foundation.”

Mainstream economists and environmentalists share something in common. Both tend to tout efficiency -- think better light bulbs -- as the solution to climate change and all our other environmental problems. But the little-understood Jevons Paradox intervenes to overwhelm any progress that comes from improved efficiency. We skewer the efficiency gains of electric vehicles, lighting, and plenty of other sectors, and we cover ideas for avoiding the efficiency trap, including unveiling our new political platform, which is sure to take the country by storm.Sources/Links/Notes:Jason Barlow, "EVs Have Gotten Too Powerful," Wired, September 19, 2025.Russ Heaps, "Heaviest Electric Vehicles of 2025," Kelley Blue Book, April 7, 2025.Wikipedia article on energy efficiency in transport that includes a table that compares many modes of transportWilliam Stanley Jevons, The Coal Question: An Inquiry concerning the Progress of the Nation, and the Probable Exhaustion of our Coal-mines (London: Macmillan and Co., 1866). 2nd edition, revised.Tomas Kloucek, "Darkness as an Endangered Species: Why Light Pollution Matters," Earth Bridge, June 11, 2025.Scenic America, "Billboards in the Sky: The Hidden Culprit Behind Light Pollution," July 30, 2025.Prepared Mind, "Welcome to the Great Unraveling (Tapestry Cloud Style Reweaving Polycrisis into Polyopportunity," June 20, 2025.2,000 Watt SocietyCalculate your ecological footprint.Related episode(s) of Crazy Town:Episode 3, "One Point Twenty-One Jigawatts"Episode 19, "I Can't Drive...

With a career spanning leadership roles at Apple, Google, National Geographic, and more, Marcus brings a rare dual perspective from both Big Tech and legacy enterprises. They unpack why most digital transformation efforts fail despite heavy investment, what separates successful tech leaders from those who merely talk innovation, and how culture—not just code—can make or break your future. Marcus shares powerful real-world stories: from National Geographic's transformation into a digital juggernaut, to the organizational inertia that derails billion-dollar initiatives. He outlines the “three dinosaurs” that stall progress—legacy systems, outdated operating models, and people unwilling to change—and offers sharp insights into why customer obsession beats tech obsession every time.Whether you lead a startup or a Fortune 500, this episode will challenge your assumptions, sharpen your thinking, and equip you with frameworks to lead meaningful change in an AI-driven world.TakeawaysLegacy companies don't fail because of age—they fail when they refuse to update thinking while technology advances.Successful transformations require both visionary leadership and operational discipline across the org.Billions in digital investment are wasted when the right people aren't empowered to drive change.Embedding innovation into the core business beats isolating it in innovation labs.Flexible technology is a must—but without true cross-functional collaboration, it's not enough.Only about 5% of AI investments currently show ROI, largely due to legacy systems and poor org alignment.Top-performing organizations operate with tight accountability and a focus on measurable outcomes.Customer experience—not tech stack—should guide transformation priorities.Large “grand projects” that last years often fail to deliver value or ROI.Elite talent gravitates toward environments with high standards, fast iteration, and meaningful impact.Companies that can't attract top talent must either lead with a compelling mission or lean into strategic partnerships.People are the hardest "dinosaur" to evolve—fixing culture and mindset is harder than replacing tech.Chapters00:00 Intro & Guest Introduction01:30 Why Some Legacy Companies Transform & Others Fail03:45 The Real Problem: People & Culture06:20 The Innovation Lab Trap08:15 The First Domino: Flexible Tech & Cross-Team Collaboration10:25 Build vs. Buy in the Age of Cloud12:30 AI Hype vs. ROI Reality14:20 Leadership's Role in Driving Transformation17:55 Customer-First Thinking Over Tech Fetishism21:30 The Dangers of Tech-First Transformation23:45 Why Accountability is the Missing Link29:45 Why Elite Tech Talent Clusters (and Leaves)34:00 Rest & Vest vs. Impact-Driven Professionals41:45 What If You Can't Attract Top Talent?47:00 The Three Dinosaurs: People, Tech, Models53:30 Why Outdated Processes Are More Dangerous Than Tech57:00 Extreme Accountability as a Performance Driver59:15 Books, Billboards & Final ThoughtsMarcus East's Social Media Link:https://www.linkedin.com/in/marcuseast/Resources and Links:https://www.hireclout.comhttps://www.podcast.hireclout.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/hirefasthireright

Generally, leftists accuse Republicans of what they are doing.  In this case, the billboard accuses Honor Wyoming of not being transparent or accountable.  Pretty rich coming from a group that has almost absolutely nothing online about them.  However, there is a little nugget in their website data.  The website was registered by a Utah company that has some pretty spooky ties.

Our guests comprise conservatively over 2000 years of experience in the industry so in our humble opinion look nowhere else for your top 100.BBH features many times, so we took the opportunity to discuss BBH past and present with Sir John. Levi's was obviously prominent with the black sheep billboard at number 20. We got behind the story of when the world zigs, zag. Plus a funny bonus story told about the Richard Avedon campaign and how the scrawled headlines came about after Heg told art director Martin Galton his original typography was ‘fucking shit'. Martin left the review in a fit of rage and returned minutes later with three hand written headlines and slung them onto Heg's desk. And the rest is history. We did the no logo debate, discussing whether brands have gone too far in reductive executions. We chatted about how originating a campaign is like launching a rocket - it's the first 6 seconds that count. We went over long running campaigns such as Silk Cut, Economist and Specsavers and pondered why there's a lack of these any more. And of course Sir John revealed the winner. It's an immense collection of work and one sure to fuel debate. Feel free to agree / whoop from the sidelines / add heart emojis. Or rage at what isn't in there / or what was actually a press ad / or what actually ran or not?! Billboards are back–and smarter than ever. Forget pop-ups and crowded social feeds. Forward-thinking marketers are reimagining out-of-home advertising as a precision growth channel and yielding real results. Today's guest is Greg Wise, Co-Founder and Chief Customer Officer at OneScreen.ai, where he's helping modern brands move beyond the screen and back into the streets.  After starting his career at HubSpot and working in commercial real estate, Greg spotted an overlooked opportunity: integrating data-driven marketing into the world of physical advertising. Now, he's helping B2B and DTC companies rethink how and where they show up–online and off. How Founders Can Use Physical Ads to Build a Stronger Brand If you're relying on performance digital marketing alone, you're leaving brand equity on the table. Greg explains why founders at high-growth companies are turning to old-school channels—such as billboards and in-store signage—to cut through the digital noise and stay top of mind.  Why Out-of-Home Advertising is Easier Than You Think Greg shares how platforms like OneScreen are making it easier than ever to plan, buy, and measure out-of-home campaigns with real data–think billboards, bus stops, airport signage, and even wrapped cars.  You'll learn how B2B teams are using out-of-home advertising to reach niche audiences by location and profession, and track web lift just like digital marketing. Some of their campaigns are driving over 130% increases in website activity—and you'll hear exactly how. This episode is packed with practical ideas on how to blend real-world and online campaigns, as well as why investing in your brand today makes conversions easier, cheaper, and faster tomorrow. Enjoy this episode with Greg Wise… Soundbytes 39:47 - 40:07 "Doing out of home can increase web lift conversions by 134%...For B2B companies. …For DTC companies was well over 200%." 44:10 - 44:39 "The performance marketer might generally think about it as someone who's focused on the bottom of a funnel, the people that are ready to buy, the people that are ready to convert. But that's potentially 5%. It's the 95-5 rule. 95% of your target audience and your target customer base are not in the market to buy right now, and for years, we've ignored those people. The way you go after those people is through brand work." 33:49 - 34:02 "We need that physical location, to show up in the real world, in the places where our customers are, so they can see and touch and feel, try on, experience, and then we don't care if they buy it in the store or if they buy it online." Quotes "How are you communicating brand in a way that can be memorable and stand out?" "The problem is that people don't really know how to do it right if they've never done it before." Pastors' Point of View Ep. 379 with Dr. Andy Woods “Prophecy Update”In today's Pastors' Point of View: Peace TreatyGlobalismEurocentric NWOGlobal ReligionAre we watching prophecy unfold in real-time? The psychology of desperation is setting the stage for what Scripture predicted thousands of years ago.Israel is searching for another Cyrus—a deliverer, a protector, a guarantor of peace. Billboards across Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are already declaring modern leaders as their "Cyrus the Great." But this desperate search for security reveals something deeper: a nation primed to embrace a false peace that won't last.Daniel 9:27 tells us the tribulation period will begin with a treaty between the Antichrist and Israel. What we're seeing today isn't just politics—it's prophetic preparation. From peace deals that Hamas openly admits are just temporary truces, to global carbon taxes pushing us toward one-world government, to interfaith dialogue merging world religions, the pieces are coming together. The Trump peace plan may have freed hostages, but it's a band-aid over a wound that won't heal until Israel receives her true King. Hamas leaders have already stated they don't even have a word for "peace"—only "truce." They're regrouping, not surrendering.Meanwhile, Europe is consolidating power, the Vatican is opening Muslim prayer rooms, and global governance is being pushed under the guise of climate crisis. Everything the Bible predicted about the end times is accelerating. But here's the hope: before the tribulation begins, the church will be removed in the rapture. Titus 2:13 calls this our "blessed hope." The world is being prepared for judgment, but believers are being prepared for glory. The signs are undeniable. The stage is set. Are you ready?#BibleProphecy #EndTimes #Daniel927 #BlessedHope #Rapture #ProphecyUpdate #Israel #GlobalGovernment #OneWorldReligion #LastDays
