Yoga is not cheap. Some classes can cost $20 a session, and if you want to practice 3 times a week, that’s $260 a month assuming you attend every week, averaging $3,120 a year. Moreover, to become a Yoga instructor can cost upwards of $3,000 or more. That doesn’t even include travel, accommodations, and meals yet. You’re looking closer to a price tag of $4,500 to $5,000 at minimum out of pocket. This traditional business model of yoga has typically favored financially privileged white individuals. Meet Rachelle Knowles – she’s out to shake up the yoga world and make it more inclusive for all. She’s on a mission to make sure that yoga teachers are representative of the world, so that ALL students can feel welcome and see that their instructors are reflective of them. To fulfill this, she founded Cultivate Union to provide financial assistance to minority communities, particularly focusing on providing access to yoga training for the LGBTQ community and people of color. Yoga can be accessible by all students and teachers, regardless of their financial status.   What we tackle in this episode: How and where you can access affordable yoga, online and locally What to expect from yoga as a newbie How you can partner with Cultivate Union and be part of the movement for change The current state of the yoga community and why it needs to change GUEST: Rachelle Knowles Read more about her teacher training program Instagram Facebook Join the conversation and be part of the Made® community: Join the Self-Made CEOTM Club: http://bit.ly/SelfMadeCEOJoin Facebook Instagram
