I'm just so thrilled about all the new Kālī content we've been putting out this past month, in the days leading up to Śyåma Kālī Pūjā, and the weeks after: First, in How To Get Possesed By Kālī we carefully explained what it is to be a paśu or anu, a discreet unit of consciousness (i.e an embodied soul or jīva) and then carefully pointed out why the ānavopaya is so suited for most of us, despite our pretense at high-flying non-dual philosophies! The ānavopaya assumes duality, individuality and the separate, external existence of God that can be invoked, evoked and experienced in the vigraha (image). We discussed how the goal of ānavopaya is a kind of immersion in the Goddess through worship and other techniques that can very well be understood as a kind of "possession" (aveśa) experience. Then, having explained all of that, we presented you with How To Get Started With Kālī Worship and also Who Is Kali? | & A Ritual to Invoke Her to kickstart your practice and for more seasoned practitioners, we even went over a A Left Hand Path Ritual for Kālī having given some nuance and context for it in Introducing The Left Hand Worship of KālīAnd for whatever reason if you're somehow not convinced about the power and importance of ritual worship in your spiritual life (because you're attached to some notion of non-duality or something, for instance), we make a case for it in The Essence of Tantra | & Why You Should Learn Pūjā. I think it's neat also that you can watch a demo of the whole pūjā (in an albeit abbreviated form) in Śyāmā Kālī Pūjā 2025. For who can sincerely state that they have no regrets? No harsh word you wish you could have retracted?; No unsubstantiated suspicion that poisoned the well of a friendship or a faithful love?; Are you discounting the abuses large and small that have piled up so high that, somehow, you've become numb to them?; What about the road not taken…?These songs tell tales about the burden of living under the crushing weight of regret. If you don't shed a tear listening to them, your fluids need replenishing. The divine Spanish diva, Luz Casal singing Jackson Browne's “These Days”, accompanied by the writer and his ride or die Sancho Panza, David Lindley on his keening fiddle is like hearing a penitent sinner's weary confession; and, then there's the  incomparable Rufus Wainwright, in a duet with Sara Bareilles, delivering her own anthem with a thrilling operatic intimacy. THESE DAYS / LUZ CASAL, JACKSON BROWNE, AND DAVID LINDLEYThe preternaturally wise Jackson Browne was sixteen when he wrote “These Days” for Nico, who intoned it with a teutonic world weariness that spoke volumes. What did he know then about regrets? Certainly, the intervening years have instructed the now 76 year old songsmith in all the permutations of tragedy, yet somehow, he has managed to valiantly soldier on, staying creative, performing, and advocating for humanity.  There is something almost mystical about the voice of Luz Casal, and the delicacy with which she interprets Jackson's lyrics that transcends her heavily accented pronunciations. The words are sometimes hard to follow - but not the meaning - that's never lost. Time collapses as the message of this song, originally brought into being by the foreign born Christa Paffgen - and resurrected now, almost 60 years later, by this Goddess, comes full circle to enfold the aging songwriter in the arms of his own mortality. SHE USED TO BE MINE / SARA BAREILLES AND RUFUS WAINWRIGHTSara Bareilles wrote She Used to Be Mine as a show stopper for her Broadway musical, Waitress, and it's a barn burner. Here, in combination with the musical magus, Rufus Wainwright it morphs into something entirely different from it's template: it has become a religious act of forgiveness and redemption - an acknowledgment of life's profound losses, and at the same time an appreciation for what was - a ritual of devotion that celebrates living in all its ecstasy and futility - the duality of darkness and light, love and death. First Rufus sings alone, then Sara… but, when they harmonize the full extent of the love that was lost, and yet remains, lifts us up to the realization of the eternal knowledge that love is never lost. It is a requiem.

A Sanskrit word for the Divine Feminine — Shakti is the Goddess and Mother of all creation who has guarded and led me evercloser to her. Shakti's powers are infinite. She is the primordial feminine force of creation. As the primordial feminine energy, she is the root source on which all else depends for survival, nourishment, and thriving. She exists in every iota of life, each life form, and in all genders, albeit only women carry her power in its awakened form. This concept is rooted in the idea that women are the repository of both creative and destructivepower, reflecting the dual nature of feminine primordial power. In Hinduism, women's inheritance of Shakti is used toempower them, to resist patriarchy and reclaim their inherentdivine power.The work of I Am Shakti emerged after years of being violently targeted and assaulted by a group of well-funded haters who carried out their attacks with military precision. They have succeeded in strategically numbing individual intelligence, dumbing our voices to fit into their inscrutable model- that of a life bereft of awareness. Both masculine and feminine energies have been enduring crippling disempowerment. To safeguard the life and sacred purpose of our planet we must stop living as the unmourned and recover consciousness. Obviously, I Am Shakti, is not for the faint hearted. Drawing on ancient Vedic wisdom, historical and current events, and my personal story, I explored how the fear of the feminine has been weaponized throughout history. At its core, I Am Shakti is an impassioned plea for women, in particular, to reclaim their innate Shakti nature to foster justice, compassion, cooperation, love, and nourishment for all beings.
