In this video, I explore the ancient presence of the Snake Goddess in Old Europe, drawing from the work of Maria Gimbutas and her groundbreaking book The Language of the Goddess. I share images of Neolithic goddess figurines—dating from around the 10th to 8th century BC—and point out the hidden or stylized snake forms that appear on these sacred sculptures. Together, we look at how these images symbolized regeneration, rebirth, and deep ancestral connection, linking the snake to the underworld and to the living earth beneath our feet.I also talk about the beautiful relationship between the snake and the bird—how one connects to the sky above and the other to the depths below—and how this polarity shows up in ancient iconography. We travel from the deep past into the folk traditions of Romania, where the house snake is seen as a guardian spirit, a bringer of happiness, and a vital force that keeps the energy of a home flowing.To anchor these symbols into everyday life, I share how mint and mint family plants can be used to connect with this sacred serpent energy. Episode 522 - Julie Strong - The Tudor Prophecy, An epic, literary tale blending Game of Thrones and Little WomenJulie Strong is a soon-to-be-retired family physician in Halifax, Nova Scotia; she has an ongoing shamanic practice where she addresses the spiritual causes of illness. Julie was born in Manchester, England, grew up in Wales, Australia, and Ireland, and emigrated to Canada in 1980. Her medical degree is from Trinity College, Dublin University, Ireland, and she holds a BA in Classics from Dalhousie University, Halifax. Her shamanism training is from the Foundation for Shamanic Studies in Marin County, California. Dr. Strong has given presentations in Canada, the US, and Europe on the subject of insanity in ancient Greek literature. She presented a three-part series on Greek mythology at Halifax Central Library in spring 2018 and also “Finding Comfort in Difficult Times,” an overview of shamanism, in fall 2021. She is a lecturer with the Senior College Association of Nova Scotia (SCANS) and delivered a six-week course, The Goddess in Antiquity, in spring 2024, which emphasized humanity's need to reconnect with Nature and the Divine Feminine. Book: The Tudor ProphecyEngland, 1541. We talk about how they got interested in Rand's thought, how they philosophically dealt with works that were mostly fiction, and where their philosophy, individualistic perfectionism, diverges from Rand's and fills in some important blanks. Den Uyl is a resident scholar at Liberty Fund, and Rasmussen is a professor emeritus in philosophy at St. John's University and senior affiliated scholar at the Center for Economic Inquiry at Creighton University. Together, they have written extensively on the subject, including editing a collection called The Philosophic Thought of Ayn Rand. They've written a lot on the topic at the Journal for Ayn Rand Studies.
