(2 Kings 10:10) In this survey of 2 Kings, Scott traces how national decline often mirrors personal spiritual failure. This study highlights the consequences of idolatry and disobedience, the role of God's messengers, and the presence of a faithful remnant, and serves to remind all of our personal walk with God. Wise people understand the consequences of disobedience. It is much easier to learn this from the failure of others than to experience it for yourself. The illustrations in the kings provides instruction for each of us. (10019260122) Read Scott's book, The Need of Our Nation, HERE.  Join our study through Scripture this year. Our Ultimate Treasure: Living with Margin

We live in a culture that stretches us to the very limits of our time, energy, and finances. Every hour gets booked, every dollar gets assigned, and before we know it, we're operating without room to breathe. Scripture calls that lack of space folly—and the presence of space wisdom. Today, we're talking about margin and why it's essential to biblical stewardship.Margin is the space between our limits and our load—the distance between what we could do and what we actually do. Proverbs 21:20 tells us, “Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man's dwelling, but a foolish man devours it.” Wise people don't consume everything they have. They create space. They build reserves. They plan ahead. The foolish run to the edges, spending and consuming as fast as resources arrive. One of Scripture's most beautiful pictures of margin appears in the story of Ruth. In Leviticus 23:22, God instructs His people not to harvest their fields all the way to the edges. They were to leave grain for the poor, the widow, and the foreigner. Boaz obeyed that command. He refused to maximize every inch of profit, and because of that simple act of obedience, Ruth and Naomi survived. Margin became the soil for redemption—leading to the lineage of King David, and ultimately, to Jesus Christ. Margin makes room for God to work.Think of a beautifully designed page. The words never run from edge to edge. The white space allows the page to breathe. Without it, the text would feel overwhelming. Our lives are the same. When we fill every minute of our schedules and every dollar of our budgets, life becomes chaotic. We lose clarity, rest, and the ability to respond to God's promptings.Financially, the absence of margin makes even small disruptions feel like emergencies. A car repair or medical bill can suddenly derail us. But margin absorbs shocks. It quiets anxiety. And it lays the groundwork for stewardship.Margin produces at least three spiritual benefits:Space for Rest. When we're not bound to every dollar, we can Sabbath—enjoying God's presence without pressure.Space for Faith. When we don't consume everything, we confess that God—not our paycheck—is our provider.Space for Generosity. Living at the edge leaves no room to say yes when God nudges us to give. Margin fuels ministry.Ultimately, margin is a spiritual discipline. It isn't just about saving money—it's about creating space for God's pace, God's provision, and God's purposes. The first step is simple to name and difficult to practice: spend less than you earn. Say no to good things so you can say yes to better things. Margin doesn't appear on its own—it's created through intentional choices.Boaz never imagined that leaving grain behind would shape the family line of the Messiah. But God often uses margin to accomplish eternal things.————————————————————————————————If you want to go deeper in learning how our stewardship makes room for God's work in our lives, our own Rob West wrote about this theme in his new 21-day devotional, Our Ultimate Treasure. It will be released next month. You can preorder or place bulk orders at FaithFi.com/Shop, and a digital version will be available soon in the FaithFi App for FaithFi Partners. I'd love for you to experience it.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I received a notice from my bank regarding an arbitration provision and class action waiver—specifically, a notice about resolving disputes through individual arbitration. I don't understand what that means or what happens if I opt out. I'm confused and unsure what to do.I'm a truck driver, and I'm 62. I've got a few years before retirement, and I'm starting to have a little extra money in my paycheck. I'd like to invest some of it, but I'm unsure about the current market conditions. I'm also curious about crypto and Bitcoin, and wanted to hear your take.I'm trying to organize several things I've inherited—stock, savings, an IRA, an annuity, a CD, an insurance inheritance, and a house. I'm almost 72, and my dad is 100 and still living, so I need to plan for possibly 30 more years. I work part-time and receive Social Security, and my husband, who is bed-bound, also receives Social Security. Overall, our income is about $9,000 per month, which we don't need right now. I want to know how to organize all of this wisely and plan for the long term.I have two adult children in their late 30s who still have a lot of student loan debt. I'd like to help pay it off, but most of my money is in retirement accounts—401(k), IRA, and Roth IRA. Is there any way to use that money without a big tax hit? Is there any option to reduce their debt through repayment programs? One child has federal loans, and the other is in forbearance, with interest accruing. I'd really like to see them free from this debt, but I'm not sure how to approach it.Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's Quarterly Magazine (Become a FaithFi Partner)Wisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on MoneyLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions every workday at (800) 525-7000. GEOPOLITICAL RISK: IS YOUR MONEY REALLY SAFE? FROM BALTIMORE WASHINGTON FINANCIAL ADVISORS Sandy Hornor | CEPS Managing Director, Wealth Management & Executive Manager, BWFA Tessa Hall Media and Communications Specialist, BWFA About This Episode Geopolitical risk can be unsettling for investors, especially during periods of market volatility. In this episode, BWFA advisor Sandy is joined by Tessa to discuss how global events impact markets, why reacting emotionally can be costly, and how diversification and planning help investors stay disciplined during uncertain times. Full Description Geopolitical risk can make even experienced investors uneasy. Global tensions and unexpected crises influence markets and shake investor confidence. In this episode of Healthy, Wealthy & Wise, BWFA advisor Sandy joins Tessa to examine how geopolitical risk affects markets and, more importantly, how investors should respond when uncertainty dominates the news cycle. The discussion highlights a counterintuitive but critical point: in most cases, investors benefit from doing very little. While global events can feel tragic and unsettling, markets often absorb their impact quickly. History shows that even severe events usually cause temporary disruptions rather than lasting damage for long-term investors. Sandy and Tessa review past examples, including wartime events, terrorist attacks, and the COVID-19 market shock, to show how markets recovered over time. These moments underscore the value of a long-term perspective and explain why reacting to headlines often locks in losses instead of protecting portfolios. The episode also explores diversification. Rather than avoiding international investments during periods of geopolitical tension, Sandy explains why broad diversification remains essential. Markets rotate, leadership changes, and global exposure reduces reliance on any single region or outcome. Recent years have reinforced how risky it can be to abandon diversification based on short-term performance. For retirees and those nearing retirement, the conversation turns to planning for volatility. Sandy explains how income planning and non-market-correlated assets help maintain stability during market declines. A well-structured plan allows investors to weather downturns without disrupting their lifestyle or long-term goals. Ultimately, the episode reinforces a simple truth: market volatility is inevitable, but panic is optional. With a disciplined strategy, thoughtful diversification, and a clear financial plan, investors can stay focused on what matters most, even when the world feels uncertain. Guitarist-singer-songwriter Alex Wise is pleased to announce the release of his new solo acoustic album, One Take, a wide-ranging collection of 28 originals and covers. All tracks are accompanied by a live video of each performance. This album is the culmination of two years of live solo performances at San Francisco's Park Chalet, where he has a weekly residency. After honing his solo acoustic sound, Wise found he wanted to replicate the live experience by capturing some of his favorite tunes in uncut video and audio recordings. The material for the album spans a wide array of sounds: from Wise originals like "Split The Sky," to an unplugged version of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," to an original take on Irene Cara's 80s pop classic "Fame" -- he makes each of these songs his own with a simple guitar and heartfelt vocals.Accustomed to more elaborate multi-instrument recordings that involve several takes and extensive post-production, Wise found this "one take" solo acoustic format to be refreshingly intimate. The album cover is a custom-designed logo which incorporates images of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge and the New Orleans symbol of a fleur de lys - these two cities (Wise's home and home away from home, respectively) inspire both his musical tastes and his own songwriting.Wise has fronted the bands Fog Swamp and The Shreep and has made numerous TV & radio appearances. He has performed with Joan Baez, Darius Rucker, Brian Stoltz (Dr. John/Bob Dylan/Neville Bros), The Monophonics, members of The Radiators, Sugarland, and others. His music has also been used in feature films and video games. One Take marks his seventh album release. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

Deuteronomy 17 God anticipated that Israel would ask for a king, and He did not forbid it. Instead, He gave specific instructions for those He would appoint. The most important requirement was that the king write a personal copy of the Law and use it as a guide for his life and rule. God also placed specific limitations on the king: he was not to multiply wives, horses, chariots, or silver and gold. These restrictions were intended to keep the king dependent on God rather than on worldly power or wealth. Ultimately, God was to remain Israel's true King, and any human ruler was to serve in partnership with Him, not as a replacement. 1 Samuel 8:5-7 Israel says: “Now appoint a king for us to judge us like all the nations.” – wrong motive. 1 Kings 10:22-24 The first three kings; Saul, David, and Solomon all reigned for 40 years. Saul failed to remain faithful, David was the best having God central, Solomon starts good ended terrible. v.23 So King Solomon became greater than all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. 1 Kings 11:1-13 Solomon worshiped false gods influenced by his pagan wives. God told him He would split the kingdom. 1 Kings 12:1-33 Rehoboam was king over Judah and Benjamin and Jeroboam over the 10 northern tribes. Proverbs 16:18; 11:2; 29:23 Pride comes before a fall. Episode DescriptionIn this episode of the Lead Ministry Podcast, Josh Denhart and guest Vance Martin kick off a New Year series on productivity and progress in ministry. They introduce Vance's “Progress Spiral,” a simple framework to evaluate, strategize, and execute in your ministry, starting with a deep dive into the probe phase. They explore how to honestly assess your people, processes, and programs across three core cultures – volunteers, parents, and kids – offering practical language and real stories to help ministry leaders diagnose what is actually happening on the ground before they start fixing anything. If you've ever felt stuck in the same problems year after year, or frustrated that your changes never quite solve the real issues, this episode will equip and inspire you with a simple way to evaluate your ministry with clarity and courage.Key Topics CoveredThe Progress Spiral – a three-part framework for ongoing ministry improvement. The Probe Phase – evaluating people, processes, and programs without fear or assumptions.Hearing Hard Truth – why asking volunteers, parents, and kids for feedback builds trust and real change.Key Quote"Prognosis without diagnosis is malpractice."Scripture ReferencesProverbs 27:23 – "Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds."Luke 14:28 – "For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost."TakeawayBefore you rewrite your calendar, overhaul your programs, or launch something new, you must slow down and see reality as it is. When you humbly probe your people, processes, and programs – and invite honest feedback from those you serve – you discover where the real problems are and where God may be inviting you to grow. Diagnosis comes before prescription, and good leaders are willing to ask hard questions and listen well.Call to ActionWe hope this episode encourages and equips you. Pastor John Ryan Cantu brings this week's message, “Wise, Wicked, Fools."Previous Sermons: Move with Mercy God's Money Key Verse: Proverbs 14:1-35 NLT: “A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands. Those who follow the right path fear the Lord; those who take the wrong path despise him. A fool's proud talk becomes a rod that beats him, but the words of the wise keep them safe. Without oxen a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest. An honest witness does not lie; a false witness breathes lies. A mocker seeks wisdom and never finds it, but knowledge comes easily to those with understanding. Stay away from fools, for you won't find knowledge on their lips. The prudent understand where they are going, but fools deceive themselves. Fools make fun of guilt, but the godly acknowledge it and seek reconciliation. Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can fully share its joy. The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the godly will flourish. There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. Laughter can conceal a heavy heart, but when the laughter ends, the grief remains. Backsliders get what they deserve; good people receive their reward. Only simpletons believe everything they're told! The prudent carefully consider their steps. The wise are cautious and avoid danger; fools plunge ahead with reckless confidence. Short-tempered people do foolish things, and schemers are hated. Simpletons are clothed with foolishness, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge. Evil people will bow before good people; the wicked will bow at the gates of the godly. The poor are despised even by their neighbors, while the rich have many “friends.” It is a sin to belittle one's neighbor; blessed are those who help the poor. If you plan to do evil, you will be lost; if you plan to do good, you will receive unfailing love and faithfulness. Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty! Wealth is a crown for the wise; the effort of fools yields only foolishness. A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is a traitor. Those who fear the Lord are secure; he will be a refuge for their children. Fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain; it offers escape from the snares of death. A growing population is a king's glory; a prince without subjects has nothing. People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness. A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones. Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors him. The wicked are crushed by disaster, but the godly have a refuge when they die. Wisdom is enshrined in an understanding heart; wisdom is not found among fools. Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people. A king rejoices in wise servants but is angry with those who disgrace him.” Sermon Topics: Wickedness, Foolishness, WisdomIf you enjoyed the podcast, please subscribe and share it with your friends on social media. In this Mussar Masterclass (Day 116) from Orchos Tzaddikim's Gate of Silence, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe teaches the seven hallmarks of a wise person (chacham) versus a fool (golem): a wise person speaks only after greater/older people, avoids interrupting, answers thoughtfully and in order, admits "I didn't hear" or "I don't know," and concedes truth—while a fool does the opposite.Silence earns reward when listening to the wise, but becomes sinful when rooted in arrogance ("I know more"). Wise speech adds flavor like salt or a ruby in gold; weak or foolish words are ignored. If your advice is rejected, quietly share it through someone influential instead of persisting.Idle chatter (sichah betelah) destroys concentration in prayer and fear of heaven—guarding speech like precious jewels in layered safes is essential. The episode concludes with an introduction to four categories (mockers, liars, flatterers, slanderers) who cannot receive the Divine Presence, promising deeper exploration next time.Recorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on July 1, 2025, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on January 11, 2026_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! Share your questions at aw@torchweb.org or visit torchweb.org for more Torah content.  _____________About the Host:Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe, Director of TORCH in Houston, brings decades of Torah scholarship to guide listeners in applying Jewish wisdom to daily life.  To directly send your questions, comments, and feedback, please email: awolbe@torchweb.org_____________Support Our Mission:Our Mission is Connecting Jews & Judaism. This talk explores wise intention as a living, moment-to-moment inquiry rather than a fixed decision or self-improvement project. Drawing from the Buddhist understanding of Right Intention, it reframes intention as an embodied process of noticing what genuinely supports clarity and ease, honestly recognizing what leads to contraction, and allowing the heart to recalibrate without judgment. The emphasis is on alignment over striving, and on learning directly from lived experience.   You'll learn how to evaluate your life and practice through clear cause-and-effect, recognize when effort is actually creating more struggle, and make mindful course corrections that are kind, practical, and sustainable. The talk offers simple reflections and practices to help you listen beneath habit and preference, so you can open to what most deeply calls and let wise intention guide your actions with greater trust, coherence, and care.
