In this episode of Tea, Talk, and Truth with Karuna, Michael Hewett and Karuna take a glimpse into esoteric wisdom from Yoga and Buddhist traditions, chat about their upcoming Yoga Immersion on Mind Oasis, and contemplate the principle of waking up for the sake of helping others. "The mind that created the issue is not going to be the mind that solves the issue. Can I blaze a new pathway for myself? Where, yeah, I stumble on it because it's new. I'm trying to walk on legs I've never walked on before! But at least it's not the same old broken path that I'd been asleep on. And then celebrating the third part of this act of waking up is the fruit! Seeing the small changes in our lives that we weren't as asleep as we used to be. We're not as negative as we used to feel compelled to be. We're not lost in another person's pain as we go to serve them as we used to be. There's more of an integrity there... ...And now that there are more clusters of people in the process of waking up and communities and this is less stigmatized and we can actually look in the different religions, particularly from the esoteric view, and see how they all agree. They just express it in different ways. They're all saying the same thing. Again, this is where yoga can be a source of peace versus some silly pose on a piece of plastic that really doesn't do anybody much good anyway. We are interested in people waking up by any means necessary and then having a community to support them through that process because inside experiences can be really disruptive to a person. There also needs the ability to come back down to three dimensional normal reality and function there after we have these mind blowing epiphanies" Show Notes and Links

When we commit to a detox or a cleanse program - we often want to set strict boundaries and push ourselves to the limit. This can not only increase our risk of failure - but also decrease the chance that the effects of the detox last past its conclusion. Lynne describes her struggle with the tendency to “Stop, Drop, and Detox.” She explains how her perspective on the detox experience changed during her multiple experiences in the YogiDetox program and what she has learned. Jessica and Lynne discuss how the YogiDetox program encourages easing into and out of a detox. This way, it feels less strict and it is less likely that we struggle with not returning to our old habits. Lynne emphasizes the importance of the online forum in finding support in our health and personal growth journeys - especially when we lack similarly thinking people in our day-to-day lives. The detox experience isn’t meant to be a temporary form of existence - its meant to change our lifestyles even after we exit it’s defined boundaries. Link's mentioned in the episode: Body Thrive Book YogiDetox Webpage Body Thrive Course Webpage Ayurvedic Spring Detox And The Doshas With Alex Biondo Intermittent Fasting, Detoxing And The Ayurvedic Clock Show Highlights: 2:20 - The YogiDetox program is a powerful guide when it comes to preparing for a detox. It doesn’t matter who you are or your individual circumstances because you can design it to fit your life. 7:50 It is more effective when we ease into and out of a detox. YogiDetox is not meant as a quick cleanse, but rather as a method of setting yourself up for constant evolution as you enter the new season. 12:00 - Not everyone is fortunate enough to have friends or family focused on living healthy lives. Having the online forum that YogiDetox provides allows people from any environment to have access to support from people that are equally as invested in their health. Favorite Quotes: “It’s more consciously entering the portal thats taking you into the next season.” - Jessica Robinson “You’re setting yourself up for constant evolution instead of more of the same.” - Jessica Robinson “It’s not a stop, drop and detox.” - Jessican Robinson Guest BIO: Lynne Taillefer, A.K.A. David Danon is a multi-faceted yogi with 40 years of practice and over 20 years of teaching experience. In that time, he has founded a clothing line, earned a pilot’s license, built motorcycles, and followed a number of other creative pursuits, perhaps all fueled by his deep questioning of authority and the status quo. After a cancer diagnosis in 2012, he embarked on a journey of research and experimentation into the world of traditional and alternative treatments of cancer, which has recently culminated in the release of his new book, Life, Yoga and Cancer: Lessons From the Battlefield. In this episode, you’ll hear from David on: What yoga, dharma, and improvisational jazz have in common, and why children have a unique advantage to progress in almost anything Why creativity is overrated when it comes to sequencing, and the value of consistent repetition in both teaching and practice Dealing with hypersensitive students in class, and what David focuses on to get students to either fall in love or stay in love with yoga How he used the tools he learned in yoga to respond to a cancer diagnosis, and how anyone can face a worthy opponent in the battlefield of life with grace Announcements: Sign up for 300-hour Advanced Jared McCann Yoga teacher training this July at Lighthouse Yoga School. In this episode, you’ll hear from Jered on: Why he’s made it his mission to change the narrow image of yoga for male practitioners, and the importance of finding your “why” as an entrepreneur in any space How he struggled to take off the mask he wore for years as an insurance salesmen, and why authenticity is especially important in the yoga community How developing a quality of sensitivity has helped him build connections and create a movement larger than himself Announcements: Sign up for 300-hour Advanced Jared McCann Yoga teacher training this July at Lighthouse Yoga School. Jeanne Heaton’s journey began with the deep realization that if she were to save her life she would need to change it, entirely. After years of debilitating heroin addiction and homelessness, a painful attempt at rehabilitation, and eventually surrender, she discovered hot yoga and realized ‘this’ was the missing ingredient to her recovery, and that it could be the missing ingredient to everyone’s recovery. She received a scholarship to Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in 2010 and went on to co-found the non-profit, ‘One Posture at a Time’ with Pure Action.org in Texas and Fuel Hot Yoga in Georgia. Jeanne is currently drafting her upcoming book, From Junkie to Yogi, Finding Freedom One Posture at a Time. In this episode, you’ll hear from Jeanne on: Striking parallels between the 12-step program and the practice of yoga, and how yoga fills a critical missing link in the traditional addiction recovery process Why addiction is not a problem of the brain, despite popular opinion, and what addiction is truly a symptom of Why the one person you can’t stand or you think you’re most different from could be your absolute best, most important teacher The simple psychic shift Jeanne made (and continues to practice daily) that unlocked the present moment Announcements: Sign up for 300-hour Advanced Jared McCann Yoga teacher training this July at Lighthouse Yoga School. Michael Fine’s life was tragically altered on the morning of April 14, 2010, when driving to work, he was struck head on by a truck, resulting in the traumatic amputation of his left arm at the shoulder. After the accident, Michael found some relief from Chronic Residual Limb Pain Syndrome through a combination of Hatha Yoga and medical cannabis, both of which he has championed as a teacher and advocate.
