Ever since Troy Stark came back to Montreal a few years ago he’s been an important part of the Montreal comedy scene. Not only performing, but also producing some of the best local comedy events this city has to offer. So when the opportunity came up to have some of Montreal’s funniest folks gather together and celebrate Troy turning 40 on Go Plug Yourself we had to take it. Erik Intrevado, Daniel Carin and Sarah Warren join Chris Venditto, Walter J. Lyng and I to celebrate all things Troy Stark. He’s read 10 books this year already! What ensues is obviously something akin to our annual Shit Shows but hey, isn’t that part of the fun? We’ve got stories of concealed weapons, alcohol on planes, smuggling drugs across state lines and getting tossed into the back of a cop car because someone was playing with a toy gun while wearing a trench coat in the 1990s. If this is our last episode it’s because we’re all now in jail. Also I was going to use AI to generate an episode image of Troy as a Toy Story character but then Mike Carrozza would yell at me. So you get this instead: Credit Where Credit is Due As always, a big thank you to the providers of our theme song: Leighland Beckman and Aural Turpitude! Chris Venditto is another funny person in Montreal who you can see all over the place and if you don't want to miss him take the stage you should follow him on all the socials. He's @chrisvenditto on Twitter and Instagram so you should follow him on those two things. He also produces shows with the guys at Perfect Bite Productions who you should also follow on Instagram and on Facebook. Keith does all sorts of things here on 9to5.cc, he works with the other founders on 9to5 (illustrated), co-hosts our two podcasts: The 9to5 Entertainment System and Go Plug Yourself and sometimes blogs here as The Perspicacious Geek. Walter J. Lyng is a stand-up comedian based out of Montreal, you should follow him on Twitter @wallygoodtimes and on Facebook: Walter J. Lyng Troy Stark is yet another amazing Montreal comedian and promoter who indulges me in co-hosting this wonderful little show of ours. You can catch him pretty often at the World's Smallest Comedy Night and Cheap Laughs at Rustik Pub, both of which he produces and he’s @tronstark on Instagram The post GPYS 335: Troy Story 40 appeared first on 9to5 (dot cc).

The Montreal arts and entertainment podcast Go Plug Yourself asks Lucie Gee and Daniel Carin (from Le Mini Grand Yes And Improv Festival): “Who was your first celebrity crush?” That question was asked by Jason Rockman & Ryan Stick back in episode 331. A few months ago we had Lucie Gee and Costa Tsimiklis on the show to talk about the debut edition of the burgeoning improv festival “Le Grand Yes And” – well guess what? They’re back at it with a new edition festival they’re calling “Le Mini Grand Yes And” – this springtime edition is focused more on producer-centric improv shows (the main edition will be focused more on improv troupes). We’ve brought back Lucie Gee and one of those producers (and friend of the show) Daniel Carin to talk about “Le Mini Grand Yes And” in general and Dan’s show “Improv By The Fireplace” which will be kicking off the festival. We talk about the Oscars, improv comedy’s standing in the comedy world, celebrity crushes and so much more, so sit back, enjoy the show and Go Plug Yourself. Tickets and information for Le Grand Yes And can be found on their official website and you can follow them on Instagram and Facebook as well. Dan’s show “Advice By The Fireplace” is going to be featured at the festival Friday March 27 at 6:30PM : Improv By The Fireplace but you can listen to the archive of episodes on Apple Podcasts and follow the show in Instagram as well. In Episode 71, we are joined by Montréal sweethearts Ladies & Gentlemen (Chris Sandiford and Daniel Carin)! We talk about the BEAUTIFUL Westin hotel that Edmonton's Rapid Fire Theatre has put us all up in, we discuss the best route to Edmo, and revile the curse of driving. Rory Learns that the queen is above the law and that some states have some weird state vegetables. We Billius-ly blow by Word of the Week and move onto our next segment. In a classic Breaking Ladies and Gentlemen, Chris and Daniel find themselves at the Kennedy Space Station with all of the Kennedy's, living and dead. Chris hops aboard his fine vessel, The Jolly Rancher, and captains himself into space while Daniel sends him a manly goodbye. After some temporal hijinks, will Chris and Daniel ever meet again in the vestiges of time and space? Finally, in a very special Two Truths & A Lie, Daniel throws up cheesecake on a plane, Chris smashes a choice punk guitar, and the L&G meet Joe Biden!!! OR DO THEY?!?!?! You'll have to tune in to find out!
