It's the beginning of a two week long sub-event where we're pitting the offspring of Martin Sheen against each other in a laugh for laugh showdown to find out who the funniest Estevez is and the first movie up is HOT SHOTS!.

Last week our schedules went nuts and we missed an episode, so this week we're dropping a little early as a mea culpa, which is Latin for, “Hey, get off my dick.” September is Just For Laughs month here at BOaB, and we've kept things moving by watching another action comedy. This week it's a Matt O favorite, as his role model and personal favorite actor Martin Lawrence pretends to be a cop in BLUE STREAK. Luke Wilson is here being as dry as burnt toast, William Forsythe is here showing off how good he is at growing mustaches. It's a good time!
Ron James' stand-up comedy performances have consistently sold out theatres from coast to coast for twenty years, garnering accolades from critics and audiences alike. His one-hour comedy specials on CBC TV have long been a New Year's Eve tradition, the last three garnering a record breaking 1.5 million viewers, with a ninth set to air December 31st. After three years spent acting in Los Angeles as a regular cast member on ‘My Talk Show' (IMAGINE TV) and guest starring in numerous television series, (not to mention being the national spokesman on CNN for Texas Tourism), he returned to Toronto and penned a one man show, ‘Up & Down In Shaky Town'. Filmed for the premiere season of CTV's Comedy Network, it was heralded as ‘one of the ten best events of the television season'. Ron quickly earned a stellar reputation as a comedian who consistently delivered, appearing at every major televised comedy festival from Halifax to Winnipeg to Montreal's prestigious ‘Just For Laughs'. The following two decades saw him win a Gemini Award for writing on ‘This Hour Has 22 Minutes', be anointed Comedian of the Year at the Canadian Comedy Awards, create and star in two television series, ‘Blackfly' on GLOBAL TV (‘an original and uniquely Canadian series'…Globe and Mail ) and ‘The Ron James Show', that ran for five years on CBC and landed him a Screen Award nomination for Best Actor In A Comedy Series. He's received the Dave Broadfoot Award for Comedic Genius, a Doctorate in the Humanities from his alma mater, Acadia University and has recently released his first book, ‘All Over the Map', published by Random House. After a couple weeks of insane scheduling conflicts Nate was left with a tough decision today––use the evening to record a podcast or use the evening to get blind drunk. He decided to do both. We're kicking off our big month of talking about action comedies, ‘Just For Laughs,' by discussing one of the most beloved pieces of action comedy weirdness of all time––John Carpenter's BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA. It's so strange that Hollywood had no idea how to sell it, so we're not going to try to sell this podcast any further. We've paid our dues. The check is in the mail.

The Stuph File Program Featuring Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy; mystery writer, Hilary MacLeod; & Stuart Nulman with Book Banter Download With his recent railing against the parent company of his network because of the misleading antics of Fox News (check out an article on the issue here), we feature a conversation from 2000, back when the show first went on the air, with Seth MacFarlane, the creator and major voice talent behind Family Guy on FOX. (Patreon Stuph File Program fans, there are three Patreon Reward Extras where you can listen to three more conversations with Seth. There are two conversations from 2003; one where we talked about the success of the DVD's; a second on the return of the show on the network after a short lived cancellation; and one from 2004 where Seth talks about and the live cast readings that he was preparing to do here in Montreal for Just For Laughs). Hilary MacLeod is a broadcaster, professor and mystery writer with six novels under her belt. All of her mysteries take place in a small PEI village, which is where she summers Stuart Nulman with another edition of Book Banter.
