Osheaga 2026 is 42 days away! Our Unofficial Osheaga Podcast is back for 2026! We're into June already and that means it's time to take a look at Saturday's lineup (More or less) every two weeks Sarah and I have been digging into the entire lineup of this year's Osheaga to give you music recommendations all summer long. We pick ten acts from each day, we talk about them, play clips of their tunes to give you a feel for their music and tell you why we think they're worth checking. As always we'll be listening to music and talking about some of our favorite acts all summer long. If you're like us you might have heard of some of the bigger acts headlining each day of the festival but it's hard to be familiar with the entire lineup. We're here to make discoveries and let you know about some of the acts a little further down the lineup. So (for the purposes of this show) we ruled out the entire top line of each day of the lineup. Trust us, if you listen to all of these episodes you might find yourself running back and forth between stages all weekend and discovering your new favourite artists. Here is our second batch of 5 “non-headline” acts we think are worth checking out for Saturday: PARTYOF2 – PUNKB!TCH it's murph, Khalid – Here With Me Now AJ Tracey – Baja Blast Kingfishr – The Blade Little Simz – That's a No No See You at Osheaga! Osheaga runs from July 31st to August 2nd at Parc Jean Drapeau. Check out osheaga.com for more info and tickets. So normally this time of year Sarah and I would be interviewing a bunch of artists performing at the Montreal Fringe Festival and up until last Wednesday I promise you: that was the plan. Then, unfortunately, Sarah took a bad fall on a bike path while heroically saving a child and broke her leg pretty badly. 10 days in the hospital later she’s finally home and the Montreal Fringe Festival is in full swing but we’re not doing much of anything except for rehabilitating Sarah’s leg. So that means for the first time in a long time, we won’t be Fringing this year. It got me thinking: When was the last time we didn’t Fringe? Oh right, that pesky pandemic. Lawrence Corber and I sat down remotely in April 2021 with Amy Blackmore pretty much a full year into the pandemic.  So let’s take a trip down memory lane and enjoy that chat from 2021, shall we? The Montreal Fringe Festival is in full swing and runs until June 21st, head to montrealfringe.ca for tickets and showtimes. The Montreal podcast that asks Simon Peacock & Wassim El-Mounzer: “What is your ‘seed’ song for streaming music?” That question was asked back in episode 336 by Tom Murphy. On this week’s episode we’re joined by the President of ACTRA Montreal Simon Peacock and the host of this year’s ACTRA Awards in Montreal Wassim El-Mounzer. Simon and Wassim talk about this year’s ACTRA Awards in Montreal, Canadian content, Degrassi and so much more. We have a fun conversation about what people look for today in entertainment and in our very humble opinions, maybe they’re looking for something different. Something unique. Something they’ve never seen before. Could that something be Canadian? Maybe we are all just a little sick of algorithms convincing us to watch the same old boring crap? Just maybe. This year’s awards will be honoring members like Jacob Tierney, Duy Nguyen and Kirwan Cox and awarding nominees in categories like outstanding performances in television, films, video games and stunts. This years awards takes place Friday, June 12th at Le Gesù and you can buy tickets here. For the full list of awards and nominees check out ACTRA Montreal’s website. I’m joined this week by Walter J. Lyng as co-host and we recorded this episode at the back of Grumpy’s Bar on Bishop. Enjoy the show! The Montreal arts & entertainment podcast that asks Montreal comedian Tom Murphy: What’s your favourite Disney movie? That question asked, of course, by Oren Shbiro back in episode 334. On this week’s episode we welcome Tom Murphy to the show. Tom hosts what he describes as an old school open mic at Ye Olde Orchard on Monkland every Sunday night at 8 pm where anybody can show up, grab the mic and show off whatever they’ve got. Tom’s also moving away in a few months so this might be his first and last time on Go Plug Yourself. Tom Murphy, we barely knew you. Walter J. Ever since Troy Stark came back to Montreal a few years ago he’s been an important part of the Montreal comedy scene. Not only performing, but also producing some of the best local comedy events this city has to offer. So when the opportunity came up to have some of Montreal’s funniest folks gather together and celebrate Troy turning 40 on Go Plug Yourself we had to take it. Erik Intrevado, Daniel Carin and Sarah Warren join Chris Venditto, Walter J. Lyng and I to celebrate all things Troy Stark. He’s read 10 books this year already! What ensues is obviously something akin to our annual Shit Shows but hey, isn’t that part of the fun? We’ve got stories of concealed weapons, alcohol on planes, smuggling drugs across state lines and getting tossed into the back of a cop car because someone was playing with a toy gun while wearing a trench coat in the 1990s. If this is our last episode it’s because we’re all now in jail. Also I was going to use AI to generate an episode image of Troy as a Toy Story character but then Mike Carrozza would yell at me. So you get this instead: Credit Where Credit is Due As always, a big thank you to the providers of our theme song: Leighland Beckman and Aural Turpitude! The Montreal arts & entertainment podcast that asks Montreal comedian Oren Shbiro: “What was the last time you got lost?” That question was asked of course by our previous guest Steve Leckman from Programmes Coyote on our last episode. This week, Chris Venditto and I welcome Oren Shbiro to the show. Oren joined us at the back of Grumpy’s to talk about connecting with audiences in Montreal and online, the rush of comedy and figuring out the tempo of a headlining set of comedy. Speaking of headlining: Oren’s got his first ever headlining set at the Comedy Nest coming up on April 26th presented by On Da Clock so you should probably buy tickets for that here. Oren is one of Montreal’s best working comedians and honestly if you take away one thing from this podcast it’s that you should probably go out and see more local comedy. Oh hey – did we mention that our own Chris Venditto will be performing a headlining showcase at The Comedy Nest on May 31st as well? Yeah, you should go to that too. The Montreal podcast Go Plug Yourself asks Steve Leckman from Programmes Coyote: You have to diffuse a bomb – do you choose to ask the audience, go 50/50 or phone a friend? That question was asked by Lucie Gee and Dan Carin promoting Le Mini Grand Yes And on our last episode. Steve Leckman is the Director of Programmes Coyote / Coyote Programs. Coyote Programs offer kids and teens the chance to get out in nature, have an adventure and take risks (while still supervised by skilled and knowledgeable grownup guides). They offer after school programs, daycamps, mentoring and getaway camping trips where kids experience screen free time in nature and foster creativity, resilience and to quote one of the kids “skills they might need in the zombie apocalypse.” If this sounds amazing (because it is), Coyote Programs is gearing up for their summer registration period. Reach out to Steve and team here. Steve joined Chris Venditto and I to talk about these programs, how important they are in 2026 to counter the rise of perpetual screen time and toxic masculinity and how kids are just so freaking ready to get outside and have an adventure. Early in the episode we talk about Steve’s uncanny ability to mimic animal gaits. Do yourself a favour and watch this video for the full demonstration of what we’re talking about. This is a little off the beaten path (ha ha!) for us but I promise it’s a good time, enjoy the show! The Montreal arts and entertainment podcast Go Plug Yourself asks Lucie Gee and Daniel Carin (from Le Mini Grand Yes And Improv Festival): “Who was your first celebrity crush?” That question was asked by Jason Rockman & Ryan Stick back in episode 331. A few months ago we had Lucie Gee and Costa Tsimiklis on the show to talk about the debut edition of the burgeoning improv festival “Le Grand Yes And” – well guess what? They’re back at it with a new edition festival they’re calling “Le Mini Grand Yes And” – this springtime edition is focused more on producer-centric improv shows (the main edition will be focused more on improv troupes). We’ve brought back Lucie Gee and one of those producers (and friend of the show) Daniel Carin to talk about “Le Mini Grand Yes And” in general and Dan’s show “Improv By The Fireplace” which will be kicking off the festival. We talk about the Oscars, improv comedy’s standing in the comedy world, celebrity crushes and so much more, so sit back, enjoy the show and Go Plug Yourself. Tickets and information for Le Grand Yes And can be found on their official website and you can follow them on Instagram and Facebook as well. Dan’s show “Advice By The Fireplace” is going to be featured at the festival Friday March 27 at 6:30PM : Improv By The Fireplace but you can listen to the archive of episodes on Apple Podcasts and follow the show in Instagram as well. The Montreal arts & entertainment podcast that asks Jason Rockman & Ryan Stick: Which Montrealers do you respect the most and the least? That question asked by Carmina Berbari Daou & Raquel Maestre. Jason Rockman & Ryan Stick are two guys who seem to know a little bit about everything in pop-culture. Comic books, horror movies, wrestling, old school television, music and more. Sound familiar? Together they host The Rockman Power Hour which is at 147 episodes and counting featuring everyone from The Damn Truth to UFC fighter Rashad Evans to Todd McFarlane… oh I could go on. Do yourself a favour and check out The Rockman Power Hour wherever you get your podcasts (and it’s a video podcast on Youtube too!) Jason Rockman’s latest endeavour is Morning Gory Productions a new collaboration with a few other horror nerds in Montreal to bring retro cinema experiences to our city. They’re starting off with a bang tomorrow night, March 6th at Cinéma du Muséee with a double feature of both The Omen & The Exorcist. Get your tickets here. Jason mentions some of the merch that will be available tomorrow night and let me tell you, it’s awesome. Jason and Ryan joined Walter and I at the back of Grumpy’s to talk about the Buffalo Bills, music, fandoms and so much more, so sit back, relax and Go Plug Yourself. You can check out more of Ryan Stick’s work over at You, Me & YTV his love letter to a little Canadian television channel that introduced so many of us to so many cool things in the 90s and early 2000s. The Montreal arts & entertainment podcast that asks Carmina Berbari Daou & Raquel Maestre of the Montreal Indie Comedy Collective: “If you could party on any planet, real or fictional, what would it be?” Then we ask: “Ass or titties?” (thanks for that Shosho). Those questions came to us from Serag and Shosho back in our last episode (hot top: you can still buy tickets for their show on February 28th). Welcome to a brand new episode of the Go Plug Yourself Podcast – this week we welcome Carmina Barbari Daou and Raquel Maestre from the Montreal Indie Comedy Collective to talk about all of the joys of producing comedy shows in Montreal, how they got started, how they work together and so much more. They host monthlies like Thursday Stand-Up? Cool! and Queer Laughs and they are also producing a bunch of other shows too! Sarah jumps on for this episode and honestly we don’t talk enough about the fact that Carmina found a perfect used copy of Travel Scrabble. For a minute there was a very real chance this podcast was just going to be the four of us playing Scrabble. The Montreal arts & entertainment podcast that asks comedians Shosho Abotouk & Serag Meletian: “What’s your favorite breakfast cereal both now and as a kid?” That question asked, as always, by our previous guest Nazeer Khan. You may remember that we had Shosho on the show a few months ago to talk about the runaway success story of merging comedy with crochet. Well, she’s at it again and this time she’s got our own Walter J. Lyng and longtime friend of the show Serag Meletian bringing the laughs as The Crochet & Comedy show takes over historic Café Cleopatra for The Yarn Ball on February 28th. There will even be prizes! Things go off the rails as they so often do and we end up talking with Shosho and Serag about Devon Sawa, telegrams, payphones and Bad Bunny. What else did you expect? We’re back at Grumpy’s for this one and fully embody the spirit of the chaotic safespace that is this wacky little podcast. Remember to subscribe and tell your friends on Tiktok and Instagram or whatever it is you kids do these days when you like something. Oh yeah – Chris Venditto shows up at the end of the show too! Get your tickets to the Yarn Ball on February 28th, enjoy the show, and Go Plug Yourself. The Montreal arts & entertainment podcast Go Plug Yourself asks comedian and producer Nazeer Khan: What new grocery store item are you most excited about? That question asked in our previous episode by Dr. Tyler Lemco. It took a little bit of coordination (which is also why we’re a day late in posting this episode) but we finally managed to get Nazeer Khan on the show. If you don’t know, Nazeer Khan is one of Montreal’s finest comedy producers and is producing shows all over the Greater Montreal area. From the West Island, to Downtown, to the Plateau (allegedly) and all the way up to Deux Montagnes. Want to know more? Of course you do. If you’re in the West Island, do yourself a favour and follow the West Island Comedy Night (@westislandcomedynight on Instagram) and for the rest of the city check out Comedy Cave MTL (@comedycavemtl on Instagram). Nazeer Khan joins Walter J. Lyng and I to talk about mixed-martial arts and comedy and then Zak Kik shows up for the back half of the show and we end up talking a LOT about cereal. Would you expect anything less of Go Plug Yourself? Of course not. Enjoy the show! The Montreal arts & entertainment podcast Go Plug Yourself welcomes back Tyler Lemco and asks the question: “Who in your life do you think is most likely a time traveler?” That question asked as always be our good friend Sarah Warren back in episode 326. If you remember back in July we had Tyler Lemco on the show talking about Dr Lemco’s Creative Club where Tyler was hosting creative art parties all over the city, one of the things he mentioned was that it was his dream to have his own space to host these events. A Creative Clubhouse so to speak. Well guess what? He did it! Located at 5271 de Maisonneuve just steps away from Vendome metro Dr Lemco’s Creative Club is now a real place that you can go to with your friends and make cool art. He’ll be hosting theme nights, watch parties, trivia nights and more and you can book the space for your own private art parties too. For more information check out www.drlem.co to find out more. Troy, Walter and I headed over to check out the new space and talk art, comedy and more. What do you got to lose? Dr. Lemco’s Creative Club is located at 5271 de Maisonneuve, full calendar of events and tickets here. Enjoy the show!
