King David writes in Psalm 103 - "Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. 5 He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust." Today we continue our series on how to raise your boys and turn them into godly men. Dr. Mike Fabarez is my guest, and we are discussing his latest book, "Raising Men, Not Boys: Shepherding Your Sons To Be Men of God." In today’s podcast, we’ll discuss several things: 1) How to take your son’s sin seriously and yet provide hope at the same time. 2) Learn how to come with sympathy from our past, but yet at the same time not minimize the sin itself. 3) Final thoughts for parents who think things are to far gone.
The English word chivalry comes from the Old French word chevalerie. Its origin came from medieval times and was the code of conduct required for knights. When we think of chivalry, we think of a man’s courtesy toward a woman. When it comes to Biblical chivalry, the Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:21 to “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” While God created men and women equal, He also placed deep within the heart of man a unique desire. A godly willingness to guard and protect women. Now, that statement will infuriate the women’s liberation movement, but regardless, the reality is that God created men and women equally, but differently. In other words, men and women have different functions that complement one another. We are not to compete with one another. Part of a man’s duty is demonstrated through chivalry. By holding doors, helping with coats, how about rising when a woman enters—a man makes God smile when he honors female beauty. Today we continue our series on how to raise your boys and turn them into godly men. Dr. Mike Fabarez is my guest, and we are discussing his latest book, "Raising Men, Not Boys: Shepherding Your Sons To Be Men of God." In today’s podcast, we’ll discuss several things: 1) The importance of Modesty 2) The physiological nature of the male brain 3) Do we as parents have a willingness to answer questions about sexuality
In Exodus 20:3, Moses tells us that, "You must not have any other god but me." Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, "No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money." Jesus is speaking about money there, but His point is that anything that replaces Him will be a miserable existence. Isn’t that the truth? As someone who served at the altar of sexuality for over 20 years of my life, I learned first hand how slavery works. And that is our topic for today as we continue our series on how to raise your boys and turn them into godly men. Dr. Mike Fabarez is my guest, and we are discussing his latest book, "Raising Men, Not Boys: Shepherding Your Sons To Be Men of God." In today’s podcast, we’ll discuss several things: 1) Explaining the redefinition of marriage. 2) Why our kids are getting married later in life. 3) Does waiting mean perfect rock star sex?
If you are a parent, you’re aware of the “the dreaded sex talk” with your children, aren’t you? Maybe you’ve already had it and think you're done. Maybe you just plan to ignore the subject because that’s the way your parent’s handled it. But what does God say about it? King Solomon writes in Proverbs 22:6, "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it." Today we continue our series on how to raise your boys and turn them into godly men. Dr. Mike Fabarez is my guest, and we are discussing his latest book, "Raising Men, Not Boys: Shepherding Your Sons To Be Men of God." In today’s podcast, we’ll discuss several things: 1) Why hoping that your children are blissfully ignorant about sex is a bad plan 2) Why little life lessons on sexuality are important 3) Why fathers must guide and lead this discussion on sexuality
"Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!" -Psalm 127:3 Isn’t that a great word from the Lord? Especially in our day and age when the world mocks the idea of large families. Today we continue our series on how to raise your boys and turn them into godly men. Dr. Mike Fabarez is my guest, and we are discussing his latest book, Raising Men, Not Boys: Shepherding Your Sons To Be Men of God. In today’s podcast, we’ll discuss several things: 1) The reality that all of our sexual desires will not be met. 2) How guilt from our past prevents us from talking about the future.
Raising up men with godly integrity and convictions has never been more challenging than in today’s culture. A culture that has created and thrives on moral confusion, uncertainty, and doubt especially among young boys and girls. As you know, God’s design for the family - one biological man, one biological woman in a commitment, a covenant called marriage is scrutinized, mocked, laughed at in our culture. And raising children in this midst of all this opposition seems to be more challenging than ever before. Today we start a brand new series on how to raise your boys and turn them into godly men. My guest today is Dr. Mike Fabarez. Mike is the founding pastor of Compass Bible Church in Aliso Viejo, Ca and is the author of several books. Today we discuss his latest, Raising Men, Not Boys: Shepherding Your Sons To Be Men of God. In today’s podcast, we’ll discuss several things: 1) The concept of guarding and vilifying sexuality. 2) Learn the lazy parents approach to keeping their children pure.
