We continue our examination of the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. Fr. Mike explores that interior conversion, or conversion of the heart, is a radical reorientation of our whole life. Conversion is so much more than just going through the motions or checking off the boxes. He emphasizes that interior conversion and repentance requires an active hatred for sin. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1427-1433. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Why does the Church seem so ineffective (and sometimes corrupt) when it claims to carry the truth? Does this mean the Holy Spirit is no longer at work? And why does Frank recommend so many books on his podcast: Isn't the Bible all we need? Tune in this week as he tackles these pressing listener questions and quickly recaps last week's popular series on the Book of Revelation and the end times while addressing other questions like:Why would God allow His Church to be so corrupt, chaotic, and unfaithful?Do we need to sense the Holy Spirit working in our lives in order for Christianity to be true?Despite its shortcomings, what positive impact has the Church made in the West and all over the world? What is the contrasting difference between Jesus and Muhammad that many people don't understand? What is Sola Scriptura? Does it mean everything we need to know is in the Bible? What are the three tiers of understanding the Bible? What are the three ways to gain wisdom? What is prolegomena and why is it essential to a proper understanding of Scripture? What's the #1 subject kids (and adults) should learn in addition to the Bible? Why is redemption better than innocence?Do you have a question for Frank? Segment 1: • Dr. John MacArthur has passed, but his gospel legacy endures. • He was simply a tool in the Carpenter's hand—Christ deserves the glory. • Mourn not fearfully, but gratefully: “Look what Jesus has done.” Segment 2: • MacArthur preached through the New Testament for 42 years, never wavering from expository preaching. • He carried himself with pastoral dignity, never settling for entertainment over shepherding souls. • When death comes, serious men—not silly ones—are the pastors we long for. Segment 3: • College students today can't explain basic Christian doctrines. • Emotional reasoning and claims of oppression now trump truth. • New campus events will tackle why young adults are “deconstructing” their faith. Segment 4: • Baylor University returned $630,000 meant for LGBT research—good news! • Disturbing data: professing Christians report record levels of pornography addiction. • If you're not part of a local church, you're missing vital gospel growth.

E.Z., Mark, and Oscar retrace Ray's evangelism journey across Tahiti, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii, experiencing both challenges and powerful encounters as they shared the gospel. From late-night partiers in Tahiti to a weeping man in Fiji, they saw firsthand how the message of Christ can reach hearts in unexpected ways. Along the way, they used creativity, cultural connections, and boldness to open doors for conversation. Visiting places significant to Ray's faith journey made the experience even more meaningful. In a concluding Q&A, the guys offered practical evangelism advice, encouraged using downtime for spiritual growth, affirmed the role of women in sharing the gospel, and reminded listeners that God's grace makes us worthy, not our past. It is a message increasingly echoed from the nation's pulpits, presented as common-sense decency and virtue. Calls for “radical non-violence” are routinely endowed with the imprimatur of religious doctrine. But what if such teachings were misguided, even damaging? What if the potential of a citizenry to exercise force against violent criminals and tyrannical governments is not just compatible with church teaching, but flows from the very heart of Biblical faith and reason? What if the freedoms we treasure are intimately tied to the power to resist violent coercion? This is the long-overdue case John Zmirak makes with stunning clarity and conviction in No Second Amendment, No First. A Yale-educated journalist and former college professor, Zmirak shows how the right of self-defense against authoritarian government was affirmed in both the Old and New Testaments, is implied in Natural Law, and has been part of Church tradition over the centuries. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out our ACU Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/ACUPodcast HELP ACU SPREAD THE WORD! Dan Duckworth speaks, teaches, and writes on leadership, power, and systemic change. His forthcoming book, The Leader in Chains (spring 2026), challenges conventional ideas and calls for a radical rethinking of leadership—and how it is developed. You can read his Zion Leadership essays at danduckworth.substack.com or connect with him on LinkedIn. Links LeadingSaints.org/Zion DanDuckworth.Substack.com Share your thoughts in the Leading Saints community Transcript coming soon Get 14-day access to the Core Leader Library Highlights In this episode, Dan Duckworth engages in a thought-provoking discussion about the concept of Zion and its implications for leadership within the context of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He begins by addressing the common resistance to transformational leadership in church settings, noting that many members feel uncomfortable with the idea of change-making. Dan emphasizes that the principles of leadership are deeply rooted in scripture, particularly in the teachings of Jesus Christ. He articulates the need for a "faithful vocabulary of leadership" that resonates with church members, moving away from secular leadership jargon that may not align with their beliefs. Dan challenges the traditional view of hierarchy in church leadership, asserting that God's ways are different from man's ways. He references the Doctrine and Covenants, specifically highlighting that in Zion, there shall be no king or ruler, suggesting that true leadership should not be about hierarchy but about unity and collaboration. Dan elaborates on the idea that Zion is not merely a future state but a present social condition characterized by a people who are of one heart and one mind. He encourages listeners to reflect on their own communities—families, wards, and councils—asking whether they operate under a hierarchical structure or if they embody the principles of Zion. He argues that the work of building Zion requires breaking free from systemic forces that constrain behavior and perpetuate the status quo. Dan also explains that leadership involves creating space for individuals to use their gifts and talents, rather than adhering strictly to established hierarchies. He emphasizes that leaders should discern the needs of their communities and empower others to step into leadership roles, regardless of formal titles or positions. Dan shares a scriptural example from the Old Testament, recounting how Moses responded to the concerns of Joshua regarding unauthorized prophecy. Moses expresses a desire for all people to be prophets, highlighting the importance of recognizing and nurturing the gifts within the community. He contrasts this with the story of Aaron and Miriam, who are chastised for their desire to lead without the proper authority, illustrating the balance between recognizing divine gifts and maintaining order. Dan underscores the significance of understanding the difference between appointed leaders and true leaders. He notes that a bishop, while holding an ecclesiastical role, may not necessarily be a leader in the transformative sense. Instead, he should act as a facilitator, allowing the gifts of others to flourish and ensuring that the community operates in alignment with God's mercies. Dan concludes by addressing the challenges faced by those who feel called to lead in a Zion-like manner, particularly in the face of institutional resistance. He encourages listeners to be mindful of the timing and approach when implementing change, suggesting that leaders should work quietly and effectively to build Zion without drawing unnecessary attention or backlash from the established hierarchy. He emphasizes the importance of direct communication with the Lord to ensure that one's actions align with divine guidance, ultimately reinforcing the idea that building Zion is a collective effort that requires courage, discernment, and a willingness to embrace the messiness of commun...

When Finnish parliamentarian Päivi Maria Räsänen tweeted a verse from Romans back in 2019, she had no idea that it would ignite a firestorm not only in her home country, but around the world. For today's episode of Fearless, I'm bringing you into the room for this year's BGEA European Congress on Evangelism, where I had the chance to talk with Päivi onstage all about her courageous stand for biblical truth in the face of ongoing cultural and legal pressure to take back her words. During our time together, Päivi walks me through how growing up next to a prison in eastern Finland shaped her early understanding of sin, grace, and redemption—and how those convictions would later sustain her through hours of police interrogation and years of public scrutiny. Despite enduring multiple trials—including one currently awaiting a verdict in Finland's Supreme Court—Päivi has refused to recant. She talks about the surreal experience of being questioned by police and prosecutors about Scripture, the pressure to deny her faith, and the global impact of her story. Through it all, Päivi has stood firm, refusing to apologize for God's Word. Päivi's testimony is a call to courage for believers everywhere: to speak truth in love, to resist self-censorship, and to trust that God's purposes are greater than any opposition. I pray this episode would be a wakeup call for believers everywhere, that our freedom to speak biblical truth is under attack, even in the West. Now is the time to hold to our Christ-given convictions and refuse to back down.
Send us a textGood morning! Thank you for taking a few minutes to listen. If you are interested in the Daily Bible Devotional, you can find it at the links below:Amazon - (paperback, hardcover, and Kindle)Spiritbuilding.com - (premium quality paperback)Youtube Video Introducing the ContentFeel free to reach out with any questions: emersonk78@me.comI Corinthians 4 The apostles of Christ should not be viewed as exalted leaders, but rather as servants and stewards of God's mysteries. They are subject to God's examination, just like everyone else. Paul reminds the Corinthians that faithfulness to God is what truly matters, not the judgments or opinions of others. Genuine evaluation belongs to the Lord, who will illuminate hidden things and unveil the intentions of the heart. Paul cautions against pride and boasting in human leaders, urging humility by reminding them that everything they possess is a gift from God. Apostles are examples of suffering and perseverance, often regarded as “fools for Christ” while demonstrating God's power. Paul encourages the Corinthians to follow his example, living humbly and faithfully under God's authority, for they are ultimately accountable to Him alone. Judgment and approval belong to the Lord in every situation. This absolute truth carries two important implications. First, we do not have the right to determine our own righteousness. God examines each of us, and His conclusions supersede our own. Second, and hopefully obviously, we do not pass judgment upon other believers. They will answer to God, and His praise is all that matters in the end. Unfortunately, some Corinthians have become prideful and even judge the apostles as less than themselves, despite Paul and others having done so much for God and for them. There is no room for such arrogance in the kingdom. We should emulate the faithfulness of the apostles and the humble, active servants among us. Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us through Your Word that we are stewards of Your mysteries. Help us remain faithful to You in all things, seeking Your approval above the opinions of others. Teach us humility, reminding us that everything we have is a gift from You. Strengthen us to endure challenges and reflect Christ's love, even when faced with opposition or ridicule. May we follow the example of faithful servants like Paul, living for Your glory and not our own. Reveal to us the intentions of our hearts and guide us to walk in humble obedience to You. Thought Questions: - If God's judgment about you is more important than how you see yourself, how do you determine what God desires from You as His servant? - Why is it so tempting to demean others and elevate yourself? What do you usually miss about yourself and the other person when you do this? - What would happen if we spent less time in pride or jealousy toward others and more time emulating the godliness we see in them?

Why do self-defense classes exist? Because we live in a world where danger is real and people need to be prepared. In today's episode, we continue our sermon series from the archives, Elect Exiles, from 1 Peter. In this message, Paul unpacks what he calls “defensive, Christological thinking”—a mindset rooted in Christ that equips us to face suffering, resist temptation, and live in light of coming judgment and eternity. To hear more sermons from Paul, visit PaulTripp.com/Sermons.
Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the Jesus as the Mashiach Nagid, the Messiah the King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. It was written by a Jew, to Jews, about a Jew. This book of the Bible uses more Old Testament quotes than any other. The Gospel of Matthew emphasizes the saying of Jesus, including ten parables not found in any other Gospel. After first establishing the royal genealogy, he then goes on to focus on the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Matthew uses the term "fulfilled" 82 times! Many scholars now believe that the Gospel was written before Paul's first imprisonment of 57-60 A.D., and that virtually all of the New Testament books were written before Jerusalem's destruction. In this episode we discuss the importance of making sure that what we believe about God is actually rooted in the Scriptures and not based just on our experiences or what we've heard other people say. From the Journey of the Mind to God by St Bonaventure Mystical wisdom is revealed by the Holy Spirit Christ is both the way and the door. Christ is the staircase and the vehicle, like the throne of mercy over the Ark of the Covenant, and the mystery hidden from the ages. A man should turn his full attention to this throne of mercy, and should gaze at him hanging on the cross, full of faith, hope and charity, devoted, full of wonder and joy, marked by gratitude, and open to praise and jubilation. Then such a man will make with Christ a pasch, that is, a passing-over. Through the branches of the cross he will pass over the Red Sea, leaving Egypt and entering the desert. There he will taste the hidden manna, and rest with Christ in the sepulchre, as if he were dead to things outside. He will experience, as much as is possible for one who is still living, what was promised to the thief who hung beside Christ: Today you will be with me in paradise. Read OnlineAt that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.” Matthew 11:25This passage is in stark contrast to the passage just before it in which Jesus chastised the towns of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum for not repenting and believing in Him. And as soon as Jesus issued those rebukes, He turned His eyes to Heaven and offered praise to the Father for revealing the hidden mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven to those who were “childlike.”One of the greatest threats to a pure and childlike faith is intellectual pride. Those who consider themselves as “wise and learned” are often tempted to rely upon their own reasoning abilities to come to conclusions and beliefs in life. The problem is that even though the matters of our faith are fully reasonable, they go beyond the conclusions that human reason alone can achieve. We cannot figure out God by ourselves. We need the gift of faith for that, and the gift of faith begins with a spiritual communication from God through which He reveals to us Who He is and what is true. Only the childlike, meaning, those who are humble, are able to hear this form of communication from God and respond. This passage also reveals to us that Jesus passionately rejoices in this form of humble faith. He gives “praise” to the Father in Heaven for witnessing such faith, because Jesus knows that this form of faith originates from the Father. In your life, it is important that you regularly ponder whether you are more like the wise and learned or like those who are childlike. Though God is an infinite and incomprehensible mystery, He must be known. And the only way we can come to know God is if He reveals Himself to us. And the only way God will reveal Himself to us is if we remain humble and childlike. As we come to childlike faith, we must also imitate the praise that Jesus offered the Father for the faith that He witnessed in the lives of His followers. We, too, must turn our eyes to those who clearly manifest this pure knowledge of God by the gift of faith. As we see this faith lived, we must rejoice and offer praise to the Father. And this act of praise must be given not only when we see faith alive in others, it must also be given when we see the gift of faith grow within our own soul. We must foster a holy awe of what God does within us, and we must rejoice in that experience. Reflect, today, upon Jesus giving praise to the Father as He witnesses the faith born in the hearts of His followers. When Jesus looks at you, what does He do? Does He issue chastisements? Or does His Sacred Heart rejoice and give praise for what He sees. Give joy to the Heart of Christ by humbling yourself to the point that you, too, are counted among the childlike who truly know and love God. My rejoicing Lord, You are attentive to the workings of grace in every human heart. As You see the Voice of the Father speaking to Your children, You rejoice at such a sight. Dear Lord, I pray that my own heart will be the cause of Your joy and Your praise of the Father in Heaven. Please speak to me and help me to believe with all my heart. Let's talk about two of today's parables that are different from the others, because in them Jesus points to sinful men as examples of that which is good, which is confusing on the face of it, but let me explain. In the parable of the dishonest manager, his goal is to show his people how to think about wealth and earthly possessions: we are to use them to win favor with others while we still have them. In the parable of the persistent widow, God the Father is compared to an unjust judge. The goal, however, is to argue from the lesser to the greater. If an unjust judge will give justice through persistence, how much more so will the righteous judge grant justice to those who earnestly pray?Luke 16 - 1:08 . Luke 17 - 7:20 . Luke 18 - 13:42 . Margaret Laird's life was extraordinary in so many ways. She was born in 1897 in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in a large family, went to college and became a dental radiologist. Though a church goer all her life, it was in college that Margaret first heard the Gospel and received Jesus as her Lord. Put off at first by the idea of leaving America as a missionary, she was nevertheless compelled to yield her whole life to whatever plans God had for her. Yielding to God became the slogan of her life. She went to the Central Republic of Africa in 1924 and spent the next forty years ministering, loving, and sharing the Gospel with the Banda people.
In this episode of the Celebrate Kids podcast, Dr. Kathy addresses the importance of instilling consistent and automatic character in kids to prepare them for proper leadership roles. As the world witnesses a trend of young men gravitating toward authoritarian leaders, Dr. Kathy emphasizes the dangers of this mindset and the need for parents to guide their children toward understanding biblical leadership. She advocates for following the example of servant leaders, particularly Jesus, to foster a generation equipped to discern healthy leadership. The discussion also touches on a recent poll from the UK revealing concerning attitudes among young adults towards governance. Tune in for valuable insights on nurturing future leaders with integrity and discernment.
