Today on Frame Trap, Ben, Bloodworth, and Ian have numerous stories to share from their time at GDC. Huber has been plowing through big recent releases such as Horzion Zero Dawn and Yakuza 0. The truth is, however, that the entire panel really just wants to play as much Zelda as they possibly can. TIMESTAMPS 06:08 - What has Bloodworth been playing/what did he do at GDC? On this episode Ant and Tom go on a trail of things that somehow link together. These things include games, films, TV shows and more. Included in this are conversations about the passing of Gene Wilder and all the films that you should have watched, or should now watch including Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, The Producers, See No Evil, Hear No Evil and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. A couple of games are coming out by teams that made the originals but are carrying on in the genre such as Formula Fusion creating an updated version of Wipeout and Planet Coaster is being released by the team that worked on the Rollercoaster Tycoon series. Both games will undoubtedly suck time from your life but not quite as much as No Man's Sky which doesn't even seem to have a point... or does it? Ant watched Coming to America for the first time and didn't find it quite as funny as he was led to believe it was, which prompts the age-old conversation about things at the time being remembered as great but a modern audience not getting at all. Is it just an 80s thing, or do kids today find 90s films as dated? North Korean news is back with the secretive state releasing its own version on Netflix, called Manbang. Fancy a Manbang and chill? No, didn't think so. It also seems that an American missionary who reportedly died in 2004 has actually been living in North Korea after being kidnapped to teach Kim Jong Un English. Also, the guys have both watched the whole first series of Strange Things and although they don't want to say it's the best TV show out there like everyone else, they can't find much to criticise about it either. Amazing attention to detail, a solid cast of actors (even the children) and a well researched and subtle script. It feels authentically 80s and that's why we loved it.
