Joel Kroeker is an internationally known pop star, music-centered psychotherapist, and psychoanalyst with a private practice in Victoria, British Columbia. We discuss how curiosity can lead us to discover our unique superpowers. We also talk about when it's time to answer our true calling and how to end one career and start another. Joel received a Master's in ethnomusicology but dropped out of the Ph.D. program to sign a record deal with Universal/True North Records. He spent ten years traveling the world as an award-winning singer-songwriter. Still, he felt called to get a second Master's in music-centered psychotherapy and eventually trained as a Jungian analyst in Switzerland. Joel blends his passions and expertise in his amazing TED talk and new book, Jungian Music Psychotherapy. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/drmichellechappel/support

It’s another incredibly busy week for shows, including the return of Sunset Saloon favourite Christina Martin and the next big show at the Saloon, John Wort Hannam! Also, Cuff the Duke, Del Barber, Matt Epp, and more do shows this week, and we try to give you the details on them all. There are also some great new CDs out now (or soon) and we heard brand new tracks from Lynn Miles, Ken Whiteley, Jim Bryson and more! And, as if that weren’t enough, through the magic of modern technology, we went LIVE to a Leeroy Stagger concert in the Netherlands!

If my voice gets any freakin' deeper I'll be up for the next Darth Vader pic.. Lots of local and Canadian releases this week, as well as a l'il Alejandro Escovedo and Townes Van Zandt thrown in for good measure. Featured phone interview at 8:30 was with a fine Albertan singer-songwriter, Joel Kroeker, currently touring his new CD. As he reminds us, we should all try to support live music despite the hockey playoffs. Amen to that!cheers, valfolkoasis@gmail.com
