There are many reasons why people choose not to believe in God. It's possible, that many of those people may not really be rejecting the true God but rather a distorted view of God. In this series we look at these assumed views and offer an alternative one. This week we will focus on the “Killjoy” God that is out to overwhelm us with a million rules and suck the joy out of life.
killjoy /ˈkilˌjoi/ noun a person who deliberately spoils the enjoyment of others through resentful or overly sober behavior. Is God a killjoy? It sure seems like it, the God of the Bible has a crap-ton of rules and they seem to try to steal our joy. And this makes me skeptical about following Jesus. Join the conversation as we lean into the rules of God that we find in the Bible and explore why God has these rules. It’s often difficult to believe in a God we cannot see. We wonder why God didn’t answer our prayers, why God allows suffering, or why we can’t feel His presence. God may not meet all your expectations—but that’s good news! Find out why in the series I Want to Believe, But....Support the show (http://chandleracreschurch.com/give)
It's easy to make assumptions about who God is when we only see Him in the wrong light. When you ask questions like… “WHO MADE GOD?” Or “WHO IS GOD?” are you talking about God, or your own version of Him? This is KILLJOY GOD with Pastor Brett Esslinger EngageChurch.ca
I Want to Believe, But….Killjoy God Laws are not to confine us; but free us as God wants us to live! Religion complicates with laws, Jesus simplifies it with love.

Scripture: Matthew 22-23 Romans 3 Galatians 2, What is the difference between "religion" and following Jesus as Lord?
In this message we learn that the idea of a "Killjoy God" comes from a distorted view of religion, and not from the good news of Jesus.
