In this episode of The Back of the Pack Podcast, we crack open our 2025 race calendar like a scrapbook with sweat stains and start pulling out the stories. Forty-eight races, forty-seven race days, and enough finish lines to make our bib drawer file for workers' comp. We dig into the “stat snacks” too: 339.95 miles of racing, an average rhythm of basically a race every week, and a whole lot of half-marathon living. We relive the highs (hello Top City Half as our fastest 13.1), the gritty ones (yes, Summer Argo, we remember you), and the weird little coincidences that only show up when we actually look at our year in one big pile. Like running two different halves and landing on the exact same finish time, or clocking the same 5K time twice like our watch got stuck in a time loop. There were double-header weekends, holiday races, travel races, hometown classics, and at least one event whose name tried to convince our spreadsheet we ran farther than we did. But the real story isn't the pace, it's what each course dragged out of us: patience, pride, stubbornness, gratitude, and a few laughs when the plan went off the rails. If you've ever wondered what consistency looks like for a back-of-the-pack runner, this episode is the honest, imperfect, strangely beautiful proof. Come for the numbers, stay for the stories.

National conservative podcasters all fired up he echo chamber by over-reacting to a fake news story put out by progressive democrats without doing a quick google search to find out that Lawrence Mayor Brian DePena actually DOES speak English and is not QUITE the liberal democrat they portrayed him to be. NOPE if they bothered to do a quick search they would have found Depena is PRO LIFE, ANTI-TRANS, pro TRUMP, Supports ICE, and "Cheers" when ICE deports criminals from his community. Also lightening round CHRISTMAS edition! GUESTS: Kristen Maxwell and Dave-ID Consoli!
The DOJ's transcripts with Ghislaine Maxwell read less like a deposition and more like a polite coffee chat, with Todd Blanche treating a convicted trafficker as if she were a misunderstood guest instead of a predator. Rather than pressing her for truth, the exchanges gave Maxwell space to “set the record straight,” validating her narrative and laundering her image into something official. The tone was soft, deferential, and absurd — serving not to expose corruption but to protect it, wrapping the cover-up in the illusion of accountability. Survivors were left silenced while Maxwell was gifted the spotlight, turning justice into propaganda.Worse still, many in the media and commentary class framed this transcript as a form of closure. Podcasters, influencers, and columnists repeated the DOJ's narrative with an air of finality, presenting Maxwell's statements as meaningful contributions to the record. They highlighted her composure, spoke of nuance, and positioned the exchange as a step forward. In practice, this served less as analysis and more as amplification of a managed script. By portraying the transcript as progress, these voices reinforced the perception that the matter was resolved, when in reality it functioned only to shield institutions, minimize scrutiny, and reframe a cover-up as resolution.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.
“Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!” (Luke 12:51 NLT) This may come as a shock to you, but the real Christmas story is not about love, peace, harmony, and gathering with family around a crackling fire. The real Christmas story is about conflict. It always has been, and it always will be. In Luke 12:51, Jesus said, “Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!” (NLT). One of the most surprising passages in Scripture that deals with the subject of Christmas is Revelation 12. There we find the apostle John’s account of a woman being pursued by a powerful dragon who seeks her death. As she is preparing to give birth to a child, the dragon hovers over her, wanting to destroy the baby. The woman is a picture of Israel, the child is a picture of Jesus Christ, and the dragon is a picture of the devil. That’s Christmas from a heavenly perspective. John’s imagery in Revelation 12 gives us the big picture of what was really happening when God sent His Son into the world. The devil opposed God’s plan and wanted to stop Jesus’ birth. It’s not hard to see how that story is still playing out today, especially at this time of year. The season of giving often turns into a season of giving those who celebrate Christmas a hard time. Hostility toward Christmas seems to escalate a little more every year. More nativity scenes are being removed from public places. Christmas carols are being prohibited in more places. Podcasters and influencers who attack the Christian faith are becoming more and more popular. Many people still object to the use of the word Christmas. All these things are individual battles in the great spiritual conflict of Christmas. We can rejoice in that. Jesus said, “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way” (Matthew 5:11–12 NLT). Jesus did not come to bring an empty, feel-good peace on earth devoid of truth. Look again at the angel’s message to the shepherds on the night Christ was born. “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased” (Luke 2:14 NLT). The peace that Jesus offers is conditional. It’s hard-earned. It requires sacrifice and purposeful choices on our part. It encourages us to live as He lived, to prioritize God’s will, and to spread His message to others. We will have peace on earth only when we’re pleasing to God. Hello to you listening in Hannover, Germany!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Once upon a time long ago and far away there lived a farmer. His most treasured possession was a fine stallion. Oh my, said the neighbors: what good fortune to own such a fine horse! Perhaps, said the farmer. One night the stallion ran off in a storm. Oh no, said the neighbors, what a disaster to lose your horse! Perhaps, said the farmer. But after some time the stallion came back and following him a mare and a pony. Oh my, said the neighbors: what good fortune! You had no horses and now you have 3! Perhaps, said the farmer. One day the farmer's son galloped off on the mare, hit the branch of a tree, fell to the ground, and badly broke his leg. Neighbors found him, carried him home and said, Oh no, what a disaster for your poor son. Perhaps, said the farmer. The son was in bed with his broken leg when a tribe from the north descended on the village. Every able-bodied man and boy went out to defend their homes and farms. Many died that day. But the farmer's son who could not fight —through no fault of his own— was spared. Oh my, said the neighbors, what good fortune your son was spared! Perhaps, said the farmer. And so the old ones say that just beneath good fortune crouches disaster but always perched above disaster one finds good fortune and it is impossible to know which is really which.Story Prompt: Life shows up in such integrated complexity, how can we know whether what happens is good or bad? Are you feeling like your podcast has become a never-ending chore rather than a creative outlet? A rigid path of weekly production - without proper workflows - often leads straight to burnout. In this episode of Podcasting Unlocked, we sit down with Jacki Hayes to challenge the status quo of "hustle" podcasting. We dive deep into how to reclaim your capacity by implementing a seasonal approach, optimizing your workflow, and identifying exactly when and what to delegate. This week, episode 253 of Podcasting Unlocked is about time saving systems for podcasters! Jacki Hayes helps creative service providers build businesses that actually work—for them and their clients. She's the go-to when you're ready to stop duct-taping systems together and finally create a business that runs with more ease, clarity, and flexibility. With a sharp eye for strategy and a gift for simplifying the messy middle, Jacki supports business owners who want structure without rigidity. In this episode of Podcasting Unlocked, Jacki is sharing the importance of starting your podcast endeavor with strategy in mind and actionable steps you can take right now to implement systems that will save you time and allow you to work on other parts of your business. Jacki and I also chat about the following: Embrace the Seasonal Break: Taking intentional pauses between seasons isn't just for you—it creates anticipation for your listeners and allows you to "regroup and love your podcast again" instead of it becoming a burden .Build a Content Backlog: To avoid the pressure of weekly deadlines, aim to have a "backpocket" of recorded conversations. This buffer allows you to maintain consistency on the front end without feeling the stress of "Tuesday is coming" on the back end .Systemize Before You Delegate: Use project management tools like ClickUp and document your SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) before bringing on help. This ensures that when you do hire a virtual assistant or producer, they have a clear roadmap to follow.Personalize Your Workflow: Stop following "cookie-cutter" templates. Whether you are an early-bird perfectionist or a last-minute deadline seeker, your systems should be built around how you actually work best.Be sure to tune in to all the episodes to receive tons of practical tips on turning your podcast listeners into leads and to hear even more about the points outlined above. Movie of the Year: 1971The Panic in Needle ParkWhy Panic in Needle Park Still ResonatesIn this episode of Movie of the Year, Ryan, Greg, and Mike revisit Panic in Needle Park (1971), an unflinching and immersive portrait of addiction, intimacy, and desperation etched into the grit of New York in the 70s. The film's stark realism and emotional rawness turn what might have been exploitation into something astonishingly human — and absolutely unforgettable. The Taste Buds explore how Schatzburg's shots and the fraught dynamics of Bobby and Helen place Panic in Needle Park among the most honest depictions of addiction and dependency in American cinema.SCHATZBURG'S SHOTS: Cinematic Realism Without ArtificeDirector Jerry Schatzberg crafts Panic in Needle Park with a visual language that refuses escape. Rather than offering stylized glamour, Schatzburg's shots are observational and immersive — handheld, close, and relentlessly present. These techniques force viewers into the characters' world, where discomfort isn't cinematic but immediate and visceral. The Taste Buds discuss how Schatzberg uses tight framing, real location shooting, and a documentary-like approach to blur the line between performance and lived experience — making addiction feel as suffocating onscreen as it must in reality.Bobby and Helen and Al: Love, Dependency, and CollapseAt the emotional core of the film lies the complex, destructive relationship of Bobby and Helen. Bobby and Helen's relationship is not romanticized — it's transactional, codependent, and shaped by survival on the margins. Al looms as both enabler and inevitability, a reminder that escape is always temporary.Ryan, Greg, and Mike explore how the film treats love and addiction as mirrors: Bobby and Helen cling not to hope, but to each other because they have nowhere else to turn. The cycle of dependency becomes the story's most heartbreaking theme.New York in the 70s: A City That Sees It AllFew films capture New York in the 70s with the same unvarnished clarity as Panic in Needle Park. The city is at once backdrop and silent character — indifferent, worn, and sprawling. Parks, streets, and subways become interchangeable landscapes of desperation and anonymity. The Taste Buds discuss how Panic in Needle Park uses real locations to root its story in a specific urban moment — a New York fraught with economic hardship, social upheaval, and the grinding anonymity that shapes these lives.Guest Spotlight: Mark Searby — Scholar, Podcaster, and Al Pacino ExpertThis episode features special guest Mark Searby, a seasoned film critic, broadcaster, and author with deep expertise in character-driven cinema. Mark is best known as the host of All About Al: The Pacino Podcast, a series dedicated to exploring the film, television, and stage career of Al Pacino. The show offers in-depth discussions with critics, scholars, and collaborators about Pacino's work and influence. AcastMark is also the author of Al Pacino: The Movies Behind The Man, a comprehensive guide to Pacino's filmography that examines the actor's artistic evolution — from his breakout performance in Panic in Needle Park through classics like The Godfather and Dog Day Afternoon. 2025 Show Notes addendum: In light of the release of C1E100 (the final "non-retrospective" Ch 1), I thought it would also be good to release C2E20 (the final "non-retrospective" Ch 2) as a nice tie-in. Though my production quality has improved somewhat since late 2024, it is nowhere even remotely close to the quantum leap that is the difference between my Dec 2025 and my Jan 2017 production quality difference with C1E1. Channel 2 was a COMPLETELY different kind of show, though. Rather than being a vaguely NPR-esque mixtape-style program that was "less a podcast per se" and more "a late nite FM radio music program which just so happened to go out over the podosphere", Ch 2 was a "proper podcast" with a co-host out of Chicago and myself taking turns sharing tracks and talking about them. We wrapped the show at the end of 2024 because my co-host had been podcasting since 2009, and would be turning 50 in 2025, and so he decided at the end of 2023 that he would be retiring completely from podcasting at the end of 2024, and I didn't feel like replacing him, so we just wrapped it together. Anyway, since we referenced C2E20 and even featured a few tracks from it in C1E100, and since we're rerunning C1E1, I figured I'd rerun this too. By the way: that one upcoming Ch F one-off with Trey Johnson of NintenDomain and W.A.R.T. Radio will be in this exact format - only, obviously, a different co-host. Anyway....enjoy! Also, this rerun will release on Christmas Eve. So, Merry Christmas to anyone who celebrates it - and a belated Happy Hannukah to anyone who celebrates it instead (I celebrate both, myself!) :-D ------------------------------------------------------ orig show notes Today's Broadcast is C2E20, for Theme Thursday, Oct 24th, 2024. All good things must come to an end. Today is the final “regular” (as in, “final non-retrospective” episode - and as opposed to “final all time” episode). This will be the final episode where we bring new tracks to the show, though. So it is still an ending. The theme, therefore, is ending music, on a program we're calling “...all good things…” Track# / Track / Game / System / Composer(s) / Selected By 01) Summer Vacation - Tokyo Xanadu - Multiplatform - Takahiro Unisuga (Falcom Sound Team jdk) - Hugues Earcatcher - 00:00:00 Music - 00:00:03 Introduction - 00:05:23 Top of Show Business - 00:06:14 The Reveal of last episode's mystery themes - 00:09:44 Discussion - 00:24:38 02) Credits - Sonic 2 - Genesis - Masato Nakamura - St. John Music - 00:30:16 Discussion - 00:33:01 03) Staff Roll - Phantasy Star III - Genesis - Ippo Takeuchi - Hugues Music - 00:35:17 Discussion - 00:37:15 04) Ending - Super Castlevania IV - SNES - Masanori Adachi and/or Taro Kudo - St. John Music - 00:42:07 Discussion - 00:44:46 05) Ending - Another World - Amiga - Jean-François Freitas - Hugues Music - 00:54:53 Discussion - 00:56:27 06) Triforce Chamber - LoZ: Link to the Past - SNES - Koji Kondo Music - 01:00:40 Discussion - 01:02:09 07) The Credits Concerto - Donkey Kong Country - SNES - David Wise and/or Eveline Fischer - Hugues Music - 01:08:45 Discussion - 01:10:43 [EDITOR's NOTE: I partially confused Vangelis with fellow Greek musician, Iasos.

This conversation is a reminder that marketing does not have to feel chaotic to be effective. I joined Sam Brake Guia on his podcast Mics to Millions to unpack how I moved away from the "be everywhere" era and into a more intentional way of showing up. We talked about signature content, supporting content, and how to build a marketing strategy that works within real life constraints like limited time, energy, and attention. We also got into how I decide what actions are worth my effort, how I keep up with trends without spiraling, and the metrics I actually look at to know what's working. It's a practical, honest conversation about marketing with clarity instead of pressure. In this episode of the podcast, we talk about: What mindful marketing actually looks like in practice How to choose signature content that deserves your energy Why being everywhere leads to burnout for podcasters How to pick attraction strategies that feel easier Which metrics matter when measuring real progress …And More! Moms Who Podcast - Simply Start, Grow, or Monetize Your Podcast
Earlier this year, I was a guest on the Cubicle to CEO podcast with Ellen Yin for a conversation all about podcasting, consistency, visibility, and using your podcast intentionally as a business owner. We talked about why so many podcasters quit early, what actually happens when you stay consistent, and how to think about your podcast as a long-term business asset instead of a short-term content experiment.I wanted to share this full conversation here because it represents one of the many visibility conversations I stepped into this year and gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how I approach podcasting strategy when I'm speaking on someone else's platform. If you're a busy mom entrepreneur who wants a podcast that supports your business in a sustainable way, this episode is for you!Questions answered in this episode:Who do you think is the right business owner to host their own podcast where it actually makes sense and helps their business grow versus focusing on podcast guesting instead? Why do you think so many podcasters burn out and quit so early? What are the biggest mistakes you see new podcasters make in their first few episodes?Do you recommend launching a podcast with a trailer or multiple episodes? How many episodes do you recommend podcasters launch with? What are your thoughts on podcast SEO and being discovered through search? How should podcasters think about keywords for Apple Podcasts and search?Join the FREE Moms Who Podcast Community: https://skool.com/podcasters/Ready to launch your podcast?: https://pamelakrista.com/podcast-launch/Need help with editing or managing your show?: https://pamelakrista.com/podcast-managementConnect with Pamela:YouTube: https://youtube.com/@pamelakrista/Website: https://www.pamelakrista.comInstagram: @pamelakrista Email: pamela@pamelakrista.com
In this heartfelt and inspiring episode, Dr. Stephanie J. Wong talks with filmmaker and sports producer Jon Hill to explore how identity, loss, and creativity have shaped his life and work. Jon opens up about his mixed-race heritage—growing up with a Thai mother and an American father whose love story began in Thailand during the Vietnam War—and how that unique background inspired his film Above the Clouds, now available on streaming platforms. The conversation takes a deeply personal turn as Jon reflects on losing his father at 25 and the long, unexpected journey of grief that followed. He shares how a chance encounter and a miraculous experience during his father's final moments sparked a short film that eventually became a feature-length comedy, created over 13 years. Through humor and honesty, Jon offers thoughtful insights into coping with loss, acknowledging emotions, and understanding that healing is never linear. We also dive into Jon's professional world—from covering major events like the Super Bowl and World Cup at Fox Sports to navigating independent filmmaking and advocating for Asian representation in media. The episode wraps with stories of resilience, work-life balance, a surreal Michael Jordan birthday party moment! This episode blends laughter, reflection, and inspiration, offering listeners a powerful reminder of how personal stories can become meaningful art—and how connection can emerge from even the most difficult experiences. ========================================== Jon Hill's Full Bio: Jon Hill is the writer and director of the film Above the Clouds, currently streaming on Amazon Prime. Hello to you listening in Jakarta, Indonesia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. As the old ones say, “If we are not grateful for what we have in this present moment, what makes us think we will be happy with more?” Maybe it's true and maybe it isn't but long ago and far away there lived a man in a small country village. He had everything he had ever asked for: friends, livelihood, wife, family - and yet and yet something was stirring in him: Looking around he asked himself, Is this all there is? Perhaps I am meant for something more, something better. Perhaps I should go and seek my happiness outside the village. One summer morning he left his home, carefully closed the garden gate behind him and walked away. He walked for miles and miles until he could no longer see where he had been. Night fell and he found himself deep in a dark forest. Having no other shelter he took off his shoes, spread his coat on the ground, and fell asleep against the trunk of a tree for he was very tired.Watching him sleep his angel shook her head at the folly of his adventure. But what could she do? She could turn his shoes around facing them back in the direction from which he came. And so she did. When the man awoke he pulled on his coat, put his feet into his shoes and began to walk. After many miles of walking the man began to see familiar fields, a few farmhouses, a village - all looking very much like what he had left; but how could that be? People in the village market greeted him as if he was familiar to them; but how could that be? Arriving at a cottage with a garden gate he was startled to be greeted by children and a woman as if he were their long lost father and husband; but how could that be? They welcomed him inside, took off his shoes, sat him at a table very much like one he knew, fed him food that tasted like home; but how could that be?To this very day the man lives with that family in that home in that village and wonders, “If this isn't happiness, what is?” As the old ones say, “If we are not grateful for what we have in this present moment, what makes us think we will be happy with more?” You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!"
