Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Romans 12:18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 1. Predetermine to be a peacemaker Definition of peacemaker: Eirēnopoios Eirene = peace or wholeness Poieo = to make, to do, or to create A peacemaker chooses to be a BRIDGE of reconciliation to people who DON'T KNOW peace to a GOD WHO IS peace. John 13:35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. Romans 12:9-21 “Marks of a True Christian” Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. 2. Practically be a peacemaker Matthew 5:47 If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. 3. Portray the original Peacemaker Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.Romans 15:5-6 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
Some journeys feel like quick getaways. Others slowly change the way we see God, ourselves, and the world. This week at Community, we're pausing our regular series for a standalone message called “Tourist or Pilgrim?”, drawing from Isaiah 40:31 and its picture of people who find fresh strength as they place their hope in the Lord. Instead of moving through life as spectators or spiritual tourists, we'll reflect on what it means to walk as pilgrims—people who are learning to be carried, renewed, and sustained by God in every season, especially when we feel weary or stretched thin. Join us as we worship, open Scripture, and ask what it looks like to have our strength renewed by the God who never grows tired. If you are new to Community Church, WELCOME! We would love to get to know you. Please fill in the following form and we look forward to connecting with you: https://bit.ly/cc-new-connect You can find all timely and relevant links from this service on https://bit.ly/cc-links You can also find out more about us at https://communitychurch.hk/ ================ This Week's Scripture: // John 15:4-13 (NIV) // Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. ‘I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. ‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.Jeremiah 17:9 The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. The impurity of our hearts can block the blessing of God in our lives.1. Examine your motivesPsalm 139:23-24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.Have you examined the motives of your heart?Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. The motives of your heart must be filtered by the truth of God's word.2. Realign your desiresPsalm 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. The more time you spend with God, the more your desires begin to change.3. Devote your heartMatthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Our hearts can only serve one master.Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.A pure heart isn't a perfect heart. It's a heart that is undivided.Psalm 51:9-11 Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Romans 14:11 tells us of a coming day when every knee will bow and every tongue will acknowledge God—a picture of God's ultimate authority and the final defeat of evil. In this service, we'll explore how Jesus' death and resurrection bring that future reality into our present lives. Whether you are carrying questions about injustice, wrestling with personal struggles, or simply curious about what Christians mean when we say that Jesus is Lord, we invite you to journey with us as we worship, listen, and respond together. Our prayer is that today you will encounter not only a story in Scripture, but the living Christ who completes the story and promises that evil will not have the final word. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. The judgment of the dead Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Program for 06/01/26 Covenant Community Church: Mark 9:14-32
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:7 Mercy = Not getting what YOU DESERVE. “To be let OFF THE HOOK.” Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. CARRYING HIS OWN CROSS, he went out to the place of the Skull. John 19:16-17 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 #1 Mercy CARRIES Mercy PICKS UP A WEIGHT someone else was supposed to CARRY THEMSELVES. Mercy is less about giving someone a piece of your MIND, and more about giving someone a piece of your HEART. Have I prioritized a relationship of mercy, or of justice? Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals - one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:32-34 #2 Mercy SEES. Mercy sees PEOPLE how God sees PEOPLE. Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image. Psalm 139:14 I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”“There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry,‘Mine!'” - Abraham Kuyper Mercy sees SOULS, not ISSUES. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9 People aren't your PROBLEM, they're your CALLING. One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at Him: “Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don't you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43 #3 Mercy FREES Mercy = FORGIVENESS For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23-24 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 You simply cannot be MERCIFUL if you cannot FORGIVE. If you can extend FORGIVENESS, God will overflow you with His MERCY.

Christ's sacrifice wasn't just a moment in history—it's the hinge upon which our entire story turns. The Lamb who was slain didn't just bear our burdens; He completed the story we could never finish on our own. His suffering became our path to freedom and His victory our hope. Today, we have been called to follow in those steps—not because the journey is easy, but because the One who leads has already conquered death. The story isn't over. In Christ, it's just beginning. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?' But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.' Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the centre of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

Sin: Taking a GODLY DESIRE and fulfilling it in an UNGODLY WAY.Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is STRENGTH under CONTROL.Matthew 11:29–30 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.HARSHNESS can drive short-term results, but it will lead to long-term DESTRUCTION.2. TRUST puts your power under control because you know WHO'S IN CONTROL.When you TRUST God completely, GENTLENESS comes easily.Psalm 37:1–11 “Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.”Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.3. The reward of meekness: PROGRESS.Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.Galatians 5:22–23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.Matthew 11:29–30 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.' So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.
