Over the past few months of the Corona virus season, most of us have experienced a shift in what we invest ourselves in. Life and our roles in it have become more narrow. The question of purpose pops up. In light of what we’re experiencing what is my purpose as a mom, dad, boss, employee, and so on. Why am I here? Why am I going through this? In this uncertain season of the Corona Virus pandemic it is easy to be overwhelmed by "What if...?" In today's message find out how to avoid being paralyzed by "What if...?" and how PC3 is adjusting to "What is" while still keeping people connected.
In a few short weeks our lives have changed. Sports and entertainment events have been suspended, schools shut down, and many things we take for granted aren't as accessible because of the Corona Virus. But more than this there is a sense of fear, of anxiety, blanketing our nation and the world. If we aren't careful, it will blanket us as the Church too. Rest: Silence and Solitude Even Jesus needed silence and solitude and retreated to quiet places. Shouldn't we? Consider small changes-turning off TV for 1 hour/night, spend 10 minutes in your car during lunch, drive home without turning on the radio, visit a park/beach, etc. Silence and solitude allows us to be present to God and present to other people.
Shopping is now the #1 American leisure activity, taking the place of previous #1 - religion. Social media influencers are the new priests/preistesses of this culture which worships by double clicking to accumulate more stuff. The average American gets rid of more than 65 lbs of clothes every year. 25% of people with 2 car garages can't park in them because they're filled with stuff. This is exactly the opposite of how Jesus speaks of a life of peace, the way of contentment, and where our devotion should be directed. Watch today's message to learn how we got here and what will help us recover from the chaos and stress this kind of lifestyle will cause.
