This week on Excelsior Journeys, host & producer George Sirois continues his 3-part miniseries celebrating other podcasters, just in time for International Podcasting Month, by sitting down with author & podcaster LaShaunda Hoffman. As the showrunner of the Sormag Writer's Cafe podcast, LaShaunda has spent the past several years maintaining a prime location for independent authors to come on and share who they are and what they write. She has created a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere in all of her episodes by setting each one up as conversations, not interviews. LaShaunda Hoffman stops by "Talking with Authors" to share her book, "Building Online Relationships: One Reader At A Time". LaShaunda has been involved with books and the promotion of books for over seventeen years. LaShaunda created and managed the web site "Shades of Romance" (SORMAG) to create a space for lovers of romance literature focused on the African American community. Her site became very popular and brought an audience together with writers. LaShaunda takes the knowledge she gained from managing the website to develop her book. It started with a blog post that asks authors a series of questions as the first step in developing a promotion schedule .After much prompting from her friends and a desire to dedicate a book to her mother, was motivated to write "Building Online Relationships: One Reader At A Time". During the interview LaShaunda explains the importance of building your mailing list and how to use it to build the relationships needed to drive book sales. The book is a workbook that is designed to give an author short assignments they can work to address a specific need. Using a friendly and approachable tone, LaShaunda's book converts the intimidating task of book promotion into a series of tasks that are easy to understand and implement. You just need to open the book and get started. As a writer works through the book they will develop a promotion calendar that is tailored to their audience. LaShaunda also offers promotions services for authors that are tailored for all budgets. She provides personal guidance for authors to help them get their books in front of their audience. Got to her website (www.lashaundahoffman.com) and sign up for her mailing list so you can stay on top of all the great wisdom LaShaunda has.
