For the next few weeks we will be exploring the rich laments of the prophet Jeremiah. Rich, because we can relate to the prophet's complaints, and also be encouraged that God gives us a script in His holy Word to speak to Him about the things that vex us. Chad shines a bright light on these words of Jeremiah, and meditates on God's responses. The talented Markita Knight sings "Always For Me". Wetly All the Way. In this episode, we visit with author Kathryn Morales about her new book, Remembering Your Baptism. We discuss who should be baptized and why. How many times does someone need to be baptized? Can someone fall away from baptism, and what if someone doubts that baptism saves them from judgment and death? This and much, much more on today's episode of the podcast. The Thinking Fellows are joined by Todd Hains to discuss the concept of the Rule of Faith as articulated by Martin Luther. Todd explains the significance of the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, and the Lord's Prayer in shaping Christian doctrine and practice. The discussion delves into how these elements serve as a catechetical foundation for both preaching and personal faith, emphasizing their role in guiding believers in their interpretation of Scripture and their relationship with God. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson take up Christ's teaching on anxiety. Jesus tells the disciples, first of all, not to be afraid about their life day by day. This doesn't take away the anxiety, but intensifies it. But it's his concluding, direct statement which casts out all anxiety: fear not, little flock, for it is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. My guest today is Preston Pysh, engineer, Apache helicopter pilot, partner at Ego Death Capital VC, and co-founder of The Investor's Podcast Network. Known for co-hosting “Bitcoin Fundamentals” podcast and authoring several books on investing, Preston is one of the most influential voices in the Bitcoin space. In this episode, Preston shares how his systems-thinking mindset and background in military aviation led him to identify Bitcoin early as a superior store of value. We explore the emergence of Bitcoin treasury companies, how public markets are being rewired from within, and why financial engineering inspired by MicroStrategy's playbook could unlock asymmetric returns for institutions and retail alike. Preston unpacks the mechanics behind mNAV models, risk-adjusted performance, and why stablecoins could be a threat but also a necessary step in Bitcoin's adoption curve. He reflects on the spiritual and psychological shifts required to truly “get” Bitcoin, the importance of hope, and the dangers of institutional inertia. This is a conversation about clarity, conviction, and how Bitcoin is remapping the future of capital allocation, gear by gear, company by company.► If you got value, please like, comment, share, follow and support my work. Tolkien's letter to his son, Christopher, about a question of Genesis' unfashionable status amongst Christians and those who value beautiful ‘stories.' In SESSION NINE of this new series, Wade discusses the role habits play in setting us back or moving forward, and the relationship between habits and character. How can we build healthy habits? How can we identify and address unhealthy habits? How can habits help make helpful things natural to us? Wade discusses all this and more. Since losing a lot of weight over the past year, many have asked why he has been doing so and how he has been doing it. This series will talk about that, but also hopefully focus more broadly on the relationship between faith, fitness, and fellowship in formation. We hope you enjoy the series and this episode! In this episode of the Outlaw God podcast, Stephen Paulson and Caleb Keith continue to look at the theological implications of Paul's sermon at the Areopagus. They discuss common misinterpretations of Paul's message, the concept of allotted periods in theology, the distinction between Jews and Gentiles, and the role of preachers in conveying God's word. The conversation also touches on God's overlooking of ignorance, the call to repentance, and the assurance provided through Christ's resurrection. The episode concludes with reflections on the impact of Paul's message on his audience. Gretchen and Katie share their favorite things these days, and then, as fall scheduling is looming, they talk about the longing for a good Bible study. at church. How do we reach the women who are longing for a Bible study, but are swamped by family obligations? We are all searching for a magical recipe for engagement, and so many things are out of our hands. It's important that we clarify our goals. Are we wanting to get things back to the way they used to be? Are we searching for authentic friendships? Are we needing to be fed? There's not a grand answer, but a micro one, of looking for the needs of those right in front of us, instead of some faceless “culture.” Show Notes: Support 1517 Podcast Network 1517 Podcasts 1517 on Youtube 1517 Podcast Network on Apple Podcasts 1517 Events Schedule 1517 Academy - Free Theological Education What's New from 1517: Sinner Saint by Luke Kjolhaug The Impossible Prize: A Theology of Addiction by Donavan Riley Ditching the Checklist by Mark Mattes Broken Bonds: A Novel of the Reformation, Book 1 of 2 by Amy Mantravadi More from the hosts: Gretchen Ronnevik Katie Koplin Magnus Persson talks from Mount Carmel Family Camp on the purpose of the church Gretchen Ronnevik's Gospel Mentoring training videos

In this episode of Bootstrap MD, Dr. Mike Woo-Ming, shares a game-changing mindset shift for healthcare professionals tired of unpredictable revenue and burnout. Drawing from his experience building seven-figure businesses, Dr. Woo-Ming explains why focusing on systems, not goals, is the key to sustainable success. He breaks down why goal-only thinking creates feast-or-famine cycles, feelings of failure, and vulnerability to real-world variables like staff turnover or market shifts. Through practical examples—like patient acquisition, content marketing, hiring, and investment systems—Dr. Woo-Ming offers a four-step framework to systemize your practice or side hustle. This episode is packed with actionable strategies to help physicians take control of their income, time, and freedom by building reliable, repeatable processes. Three Actionable Takeaways: Define Specific, Measurable Outcomes – Set clear but flexible goals (e.g., "10 paying coaching clients in 60 days") to guide your system-building without micromanaging every detail. Focus on Repeatable Inputs – Identify and schedule consistent weekly tasks (e.g., outreach to 5 leads, creating 1 video) that drive your outcomes, ensuring control over what you can predictably execute. Track Inputs, Not Just Results – Monitor weekly system tasks (e.g., discovery calls booked, content published) using simple tools like Google Docs or Loom to ensure consistency and improve outcomes over time. About the Show: Bootstrap MD is the ultimate podcast for physician entrepreneurs looking to escape traditional healthcare and control their financial futures. The Thinking Fellows podcast breaks down C.F.W. Walther's classic work The Proper Distinction Between Law and Gospel. This episode offers a brief introduction to Walther and explores why properly distinguishing between Law and Gospel is a vital task for every Christian preacher. Distinguishing Law and Gospel is one of the most difficult yet essential tasks of the Christian life. Command and promise are not merely theological slogans; they are the means by which God delivers faith and creates saints out of sinners. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson take up an inquiry of the crowd with Jesus in which a man asks him to divide his inheritance between himself and his brother. In the course of their conversation, Jesus tells a parable to teach about the danger of coveteousness, and the problem of placing faith in earthly goods. Such goods are gifts of God alone whom faith trusts. This text also brings out the question of Jesus' status as our judge – not according to the law, but according to the gospel. Essay: Gerhard O. Caleb, Scott, and Adam take up the question: was Peter the first pope? They follow this with a conversation about why contemporary Lutherans need not long for the ecclesiology of Rome or the papacy. In the second half of the episode, the Fellows discuss the growing number of pastoral vacancies in the LCMS. They encourage patience and thoughtful reflection as congregations navigate this challenging reality.
