In this episode, we sit down with Nicholas Tanek, the host of the Your Kinky Friends podcast, creator of YourKinkyFriends.com, and author of the Your Kinky Friends book. Nicholas shares his passion for kink, emphasizing that it's a blend of sex and creativity, and an essential part of his life. He believes that embracing kink often signifies a deep self-awareness, making kinky individuals more insightful and compassionate in their roles as parents, friends, and community members. Nicholas delves into his personal fetishes, including Femdom, forced crossdressing, sissification, and chastity. He explains how crossdressing and sissification challenge toxic masculinity and societal norms. Our conversation covers gender roles, female empowerment, and how Nicholas incorporates kink into his daily life, such as wearing women's undergarments and a cock cage at work. He describes the heightened arousal and pleasure he experiences from worshiping his Femdom partner. We also explore the misconceptions about Femdom, highlighting that true Femdom focuses on the woman's pleasure and the man's selfless service. Nicholas shares insights from his podcast, where he interviews kinky individuals worldwide, including many Dominatrixes, celebrating the courage and privilege of discussing sexual expression openly. Nicholas also shares his motivations for writing Your Kinky Friends which stemmed from a desire to authentically represent the kink community, countering the unsafe portrayals popularized by 50 Shades of Grey. In his podcast, Nicholas wanted to create a safe, open space where people could connect and feel less alone in their kinks. Nicholas reflects on his upbringing as a punk rock kid in New Jersey, where exposure to punk rock girls and movies like Sid & Nancy shaped his understanding of personal expression. His early fascination with sexuality set him apart from his peers, fueling his lifelong journey in the kink community. He also discusses his Switch tendencies, enjoying both Dominant and submissive roles. Nicholas emphasizes that finding compatible partners is about genuine connections, community involvement, and building trust through local kink events and relationships. Nicholas leaves us with a hopeful message: support the kinky individuals in your life, acknowledge their uniqueness, and let them know they are seen and understood. Episode 2 has arrived! Our guest today is Author/Blogger Nicholas Tanek, author of Your Kinky Friends, The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself, and Chipped Black Nail Polish. Nicholas Tanek grew up as a New Jersey punk rock skater kid who lost himself in the early 90’s New York City rave scene. After years of drug addiction, he got his life together when he was reunited with Lynn, the love of his life, before she died at the age of 37. Instead of choosing negativity, he chose creativity. Losing Lynn inspired him to write his first book, The Coolest Way To Kill Yourself. A huge lover of all things kinky and very knowledgable. Nick is also a contributer and blogger on the site, Take Back Your Sex, created by fellow podcasters and friends of this show, Megan and Tanya hosts of the similarly named podcast. You can find Nick's books on Amazon. The blog is on Take Back Your Sex. His latest blog is on the Dos and Don'ts of approaching people in kink can be found HERE. Nicholas Tanek (@nicholastanek) is a New Jersey based writer who drew from a dissolute youth, tragedy, and the BDSM scene to write his books The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself, Chipped Black Nail Polish, and Your Kinky Friends. Have you ever learnt something unsavory about a celebrity you admired, only to have that fact change your perception of that person? The year is halfway through - what has been our favorite bits of pop culture so far in 2017? Every film is now part of an Extended Cinematic Universe and now we no longer know how to experience a “one-off” film.
Author Nicholas Tanek joins us this week to discuss his new book ‘Your Kinky Friends’. We also touch upon his other titles ‘Chipped Black Nail Polish’ and ‘The Coolest Way To Kill Yourself’. Both Bakji and Floss have read all three books between them, and they come highly recommended. It is not often you get to chat with an author about a book you have enjoyed, so this made for a really nice experience. [caption id="attachment_1330" align="aligncenter" width="193"] Your Kinky Friends[/caption] Nicholas is based in the U.S, so once again we were faced with the issue of time difference. We really wanted to bring this chat to the podcast though, so we took the hit and recorded at 1am U.K time. So you may need to look past the fact That Bakji and Floss sound a little on the tired side. We promise the next episode with be full energy and recorded at a normal time of day. We talk to Nicholas about what prompted him to join the scene, and how the BDSM community provided a positive space for him at a very low point in his life. For anyone who has wondered if you can find true friends and positive influences in the BDSM community then this story is for you. Pre-scene kink also crops up, as we discuss what kind of things Nicholas enjoyed as a young kinkster. More of which crops up in his book ‘The Coolest Way To Kill Yourself’. Which is peppered with lots of kinky tales but also deals with addiction, recovery, loss of a partner, love and friendship. Other topics we discuss in this episode are: Early forays into kink The love of all things FemDom Perving the lingerie section of catalogues The love of all things British Hidden porn in the woods And a whole host of other things If anything we discuss in this episode prompts you to want to get in touch with us then you can do so via hello@proudtobekinky.com. We are also on Instagram, Twitter and Fetlife. We also have our own Patreon page too, so if you love the podcast and would like to support us in reaching even more people with it, then you can do so there.
