Grimmlife Collective is a horror and true-crime travel channel hosted by Michael and Jessica Kolence, known for exploring filming locations, cemeteries, abandoned sites, and dark history locations across the world. Their work blends on-location storytelling, horror fandom, and documentary-style deep dives into the strange and macabre. From traveling Europe and Disney cruises to abandoned videos, fear of flying, prophetic dreams, and night terrors. We talk Dark Universe, react to the Scream 7 release and trailer, get into horror sequels and fan theories, and why trailers are ruining movies. We get into the real exorcism of Anneliese Michel, listening to the tapes, covering Ted Bundy, being contacted by victims of cold cases, and why we're fascinated with the morbid in the first place.Michael and Jessica open up about convention politics, celebrities who don't care, the horror industry being highly competitive and cliquish, navigating social media hate, insecurities on camera, and why they stopped daily vlogs. We also get into aliens, Bigfoot, Area 51, conspiracy theories, world-ending scenarios, and the strange psychology behind negativity in the YouTube community.—Subscribe: youtube.com/@TalksFromTheCryptFollow On Social Media –Talks From The Crypt: https://instagram.com/talksfromthecrypthttps://talksfromthecrypt.com Grimmlife Collective: https://instagram.com/grimmlifecollectivehttps://grimmlifecollective.com Jessica Kolence: https://instagram.com/witchydamehttps://www.youtube.com/BabyGhoulAsmr—00:00:00 – Intro00:00:57 – Traveling the World: Europe, Disney Cruises, Abandoned Videos, Living Life Through A Lens00:06:21 – Dark Universe, Movie Trailers, Bone Temple, Scream 7 Teaser Reaction, Scream Fan Theories, Sequels and Remakes00:16:29 – Vegas and LA Tear Everything Down, Embracing History, Fear of Flying, Prophetic Dreams, and Night Terrors00:26:59 – Conventions/Signings, Celebrities That Don't Care and Bad Experiences With Them, Being In a Bad Mood While Signing00:37:00 – Horror Fans Are Great, But the Horror Industry is HIGHLY Politicized and Competitive. After experiencing life-threatening cancer in his early 20s that left a permanent facial difference and required more than 30 surgeries, Terry still calls it "a gift in disguise." There are three other gifts he has found in multiple decades of leading teams: Gratitude, Perspective and Empathy. His advice for leaders? "Reward initiative, not results. People will learn more from the mistakes they made than their wins oftentimes." Through it all, Terry remans focused on the fundamentals. "Stay humble, never assume you have all the answers and listen more. Two ears and on mouth, right?".

In this episode, I answer a follower's question about how I “always” keep a positive mindset. The truth? I don't.I talk about the pressure we put on ourselves to be perfect, why toxic positivity sets us up for failure, and how real resilience comes from admitting we have rough days. Positivity isn't about ignoring the bad — it's about recognizing it, owning it, and still being grateful for the things that go right. If you've ever struggled with the expectation to keep smiling no matter what — especially as a veteran, first responder, or just someone trying to hold it together — this conversation is for you.

With decades of experience across nearly every role in nonprofit leadership, she brings both practical strategies and heartfelt encouragement to the discussion.Together, Amy and Joan explore how nonprofit professionals can reframe fundraising from a stressful numbers game into an opportunity for donors to feel connected, valued, and part of meaningful impact. They discuss:Why development directors often struggle with discouragement when revenue sources shiftHow focusing solely on total dollars raised can create a harmful and unrealistic definition of successAlternative metrics to measure fundraising effectiveness, including donor retention rates, board engagement, and stewardship practicesThe importance of innovation and creativity in fundraising, with real-world examples of organizations trying bold approaches to meet urgent needsHow leaders can support staff through professional development, peer learning, and community support to build confidence and resilienceThe role of board members in donor stewardship and why even simple gestures from board leaders can significantly strengthen relationshipsPractical steps for reconnecting with the mission, “touching the work,” and finding inspiration that replenishes energy for fundraisers and leaders alikeListeners will hear stories ranging from a climate change think tank tapping into untapped expertise in Washington, to LGBTQ advocacy groups addressing urgent needs through imaginative funding models, to a legal nonprofit rethinking the concept of a capital campaign by focusing on “human capital.” These examples highlight what is possible when leaders are willing to experiment and redefine what success looks like.Joan also shares advice on how nonprofit executives can manage fear, support their fundraising staff, and avoid the trap of holding onto poor performance because of the myth that strong development professionals are scarce. She emphasizes the importance of professional development and investment in fundraisers, noting that providing learning opportunities is a powerful way to strengthen skills and morale.Amy and Joan both highlight the value of peer communities—whether through Capital Campaign Pro's weekly mastermind groups or the Nonprofit Leadership Lab's global membership network—where nonprofit leaders can share challenges, celebrate wins, and draw inspiration from one another.Whether you are an executive director, development officer, or board member, this conversation will help you see fundraising in a new light. (38:07) NFL Week 2 has a Super Bowl rematch as the Chiefs need to bounce back in a big way after not just losing in the opening week, but to erase the bad taste of getting embarrassed in the big game to the Eagles. I'll check in on the rest of the schedule and what to watch for this weekend. (49:24) College football picks up after a not so good Saturday last week. I'll see what's on tap for the third week in the sport. (52:15) A new NBA rule was announced, which made sense at first, until it didn't? Plus, the WNBA playoffs will tip off on Saturday. I'll do my best to preview what to look out for in the coming weeks. (1:01:22) A big time scorer in the NHL turns down the biggest deal in league history. It's not who you think, but how will that impact the player who you think it is? (1:04:49) Boxing will have their night on Saturday as Canelo Alvarez will fight Terence Crawford for the super middleweight championship. Any idea why this bout isn't getting the love that it deserves? And MUCH MORE in between. I would bet that virtually every person listening is wanting to help rebuild the world into better shape than it is right now. But how can we do selfcare in all of this? How can we stay positive? I just got started reading Jon Gordon's new book, “The 7 Commitments of a Great Team”, and it's got some powerful lessons in it. Since teams are always a part of life, and it's not just sports, I wanted to share these 5 parts of Staying Positive. Over the next five days I'll be sharing some of my thoughts from his book.  He's all talking about “living LIGHT.” I'll explain what that means throughout this coming week. To start us off,  part 1 is all about “Love instead of Fear”. He brings up a couple of great points. Jon reminds us that Love puts a shadow on fear and helps to get rid of it.  Fears are out to weaken us, put limits on us and strikes doubt all around us. Remember, Love is a choice! Contrary to what some people think - love is a big-time strength, not a weakness like some people think. I feel bad for those people that think it's a weakness.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.
