POPULARITY
Attraction preshows are an interesting aspect of theme park storytelling. They’re the first act of a ride’s story, giving us the background and mood we need to know as we fill in all the available space and wait for our chance at adventure. And some of these become quotable favorites for generations. Today’s guest is uhhhh…one of these. Actor David Danipour portrays Dr. Stevens in Pandora: Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom and has quickly become a recognizable part of the land. A fan favorite to some and an oddity to others, David’s performance grounds an extraordinary experience and has helped change exactly what we think a preshow can be. David sits down with Nahtan to talk about getting lost at Disneyland when he was young, making his way through the Los Angeles comedy scene, and working on shows like The Good Place and Westworld. Keep up with David on Instagram, Twitter or his YouTube Channel. RUN We ran at home this weekend. Dana was able to get a 5K in everyday this weekend at work. Aimee was still recovering from her ankle injury last weekend, so we postponed the longer run for a week. The Beat The Blerch weekend we were scheduled for in September was canceled. We registered successfully for all 3 races at the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend. We even got into the Kessel Run Challenge, that includes getting in the Star Wars Virtual anywhere in the galaxy prior to the race weekend in Orlando in April of 2021. Fingers crossed! We got in last Thursday as Annual Passholders, but regular registration is Tuesday, August 11th at 10AM. May the Force Be With You! EAT We took our training run to Walt Disney World to check out the 2020 Epcot Food and Wine Festival last week, and this week we flashback to the awesome quick service meal we had at Satu’li Canteen. This place is situated right next to the popular ride, Pandora Flight of Passage, in Animal Kingdom, and we were lucky enough to make a quick visit there on our last day in Orlando. The My Disney Experience App allowed us to mobile order and come in once our meal was ready. We had tasty Cheeseburger Bao Buns and a flavorful Slow-Roasted Sliced Grilled Beef Bowl with noodles and a charred green onion vinaigrette. We had friendly employees guiding us to a table, and one named Tiger who noticed our Happy Anniversary buttons and got us a complimentary Chocolate Cake dessert. He definitely got a cast compliment! DRINK The 2020 Epcot Food and Wine Festival had some great beer offerings, but Satu’li Canteen did as well. Dana had an Organic Blonde Ale from Orlando Brewing. It was light and refreshing on a humid post-rain summer day. Aimee had a Dreamwalker Sangria, which is a white sangria with a hint of blue curaçao. It was light and crisp, not overly sweetened. They were great beverages to go along with one of our new favorite places to visit at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. THAT’S A WRAP!
