Jay and Ashley are back nearly 200 episodes after their first appearance, and they don't sugarcoat what the last few years have looked like: raising a big family, trying to run a business together, and realizing how fast “life stuff” can spill into “work stuff.”They get real about what's working right now in the market—Zillow Preferred leads, staying in front of past clients, and being consistent even when motivation is nowhere to be found. Then the conversation pivots into mentorship and networking: how asking for a simple coffee (or cigar) can change your entire trajectory, plus a “failing forward” segment that turns a painful multifamily experience into a legit lesson. They wrap with what it all comes back to: family support, unconditional love, and building something that lasts.Check out the show and more episodes at @REIARadioThis episode is sponsored by Entrepreneur Addict — get started at entrepreneuraddict.com/REIA.Where to find Jay & AshleyInstagram: Ashley Jackson WellsFacebook: jcapelYou can Join the Omaha REIA - https://omahareia.com/join-todayOmaha REIA on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/OmahaREIACheck out the National REIA - https://nationalreia.org/ Find Ted Kaasch at www.tedkaasch.com Owen Dashner on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/owen.dashner Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/odawg2424/ Red Ladder Property Solutions - www.sellmyhouseinomahafast.com Liquid Lending Solutions - www.liquidlendingsolutions.com Owen's Blogs - www.otowninvestor.com www.reiquicktips.com Propstream - https://trial.propstreampro.com/reianebraska/Timber Creek Virtual - https://timbercreekvirtual.com/services/MagicDoor - https://magicdoor.com/reia/...

Why Become a Disciple Maker: Insights from Jim Putman, Dr. Coleman, and More In this video, leaders in the disciple making movement participate in a forum to discuss the essential question: why become a disciple maker? Jim Putman opens with a deep dive into the motives behind disciple making and challenges the conventional view of tying disciple-making to church growth. Instead, he emphasizes the importance of a more profound, relational approach where the focus is on spiritual maturity and following Christ wholeheartedly, even when it might not lead to church growth. The discussion extends into practical insights on creating a culture of disciple-making, highlighting the significance of transparency and intentionality in relationships. Prominent voices like Bill Hull, Dr. Robert Coleman, and Daniel Im contribute their perspectives. Bill Hull underscores the necessity of investing in the right people, while Dr. Coleman points out the simplicity of following Jesus' example. Ariana Rimsson shares her personal experiences and advice on how to take intentional steps to disciple others, even if one has never been discipled themselves. The forum also includes a celebration of disciple-making giants, with Bill Hull receiving the Robert Coleman Disciple Maker Award for his lifetime commitment to Jesus' methods. Key themes covered include the importance of relational disciple-making, the challenges of being authentic and transparent, and the critical role of disciple-makers in a world increasingly obsessed with self. This video aims to inspire pastors and ministry leaders to embrace the call to make disciples deeply and authentically, replicating the life-on-life model exemplified by Jesus.  Check out Discipleship.org for resources on disciple-making: https://discipleship.org/resources/  Key Takeaways  00:00 Introduction: The Importance of Disciple Making 07:40 The Great Commission and Making Disciples 09:45 Personal Stories and Testimonies 14:55 The Need for Relational Discipleship 21:44 Practical Takeaways and Reflections 36:43 The Heart of Jesus' Ministry 37:25 Motives in Discipleship 39:54 Creating a Culture of Disciple Making 43:52 Life-on-Life Discipleship 48:56 Honesty and Transparency in Discipleship 53:23 The Disciple Maker Assessment 01:11:07 Closing Remarks and Reflections Stay Informed - Get our newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hPViAr Title: Why Become a Disciple Maker | Jim Putman See below for a longer description: In Jim Putman's enlightening speech, he delves deep into the essential question, "Why become a disciple maker?" He challenges the audience by reframing the question to "Why wouldn't you be a disciple maker?" Putman emphasizes that disciple making should not be viewed as merely a church growth strategy but as a profound spiritual calling rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He addresses the popular misconception that disciple making guarantees church growth, clarifying that the true essence is spiritual maturity and obedience to Christ, which may not always align with numerical growth. Putman underscores the reality that the gospel's message of self-denial and daily cross-bearing is often unpopular in American culture, leading to a potential decline in church attendance when it's preached authentically. He cautions that many churchgoers might leave when confronted with the true demands of discipleship, particularly those who attend church for superficial reasons like seeking personal gain or social approval. A significant portion of his talk focuses on the characteristics of a mature disciple. Putman describes a mature disciple as someone continually growing in obedience and being transformed to resemble Jesus Christ. This transformation involves loving God with all one's heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving one's neighbor as oneself. He critiques the shallow understanding of discipleship that equates it to mere knowledge accumulation, explaining that true discipleship is relational and rooted in love. Moreover, Putman discusses the importance of having a common language and definition within disciple making movements, referencing Jesus' invitation in Matthew 4:19 to "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." He explains that disciple makers are those who follow Jesus, are changed by Jesus, and commit to Jesus' mission. This mission includes evangelizing, teaching, and nurturing new disciples to maturity so they, in turn, can make disciples. Putman shares a personal anecdote about his son, illustrating the profound impact someone can make by reaching out to love and disciple others. In conclusion, Putman appeals to the audience's sense of love and obedience to God as the primary motives for making disciples. He discards the notion of doing it for rewards or recognition, centering the practice in genuine care for others' spiritual well-being and growth in Christ. In this episode, we break down what's really going on with New York City's housing crisis — from strict rent control and proposed rent freezes to a billion-dollar bailout for “distressed” landlords. We talk about how rising insurance, taxes, and maintenance costs crush owners when income is capped, and what happens when the city steps in with taxpayer-funded rescue plans. Is this sustainable, or are we just kicking the can down the road? Then we bring it back home and look at how big city projects — like Omaha's new railcar line — can quietly bleed local restaurants and small businesses while everyone cheers “progress.” We share a Golden Nugget on staying ahead of city planning so you don't buy into a “great deal” that gets wrecked by construction, street closures, and shifting tax burdens. If you own rentals, run a small business, or just want to understand how politics and policy actually hit your bottom line, this one's for you. Reaching and Discipling Millennials: Challenges and Opportunities In this insightful discussion, various speakers explore the vital topic of how to effectively reach and disciple the millennial generation. The session begins with an introduction by Thom Rainer who shares personal anecdotes and sets the stage for the main focus: can we truly disciple millennials, and can they become disciple-makers themselves? The speaker highlights the complexity and clarity sometimes lacking within church communities, using both humor and personal stories to illustrate these points. Statistical data is presented to underscore the significant decline in generational Christian adherence, from the builder generation to the millennials, who only show roughly 15% followers of Christ. However, despite this decline, there is a notable receptivity among millennials, presenting a hopeful opportunity for the church. Key characteristics of millennials, such as their value for relationships and desire for authenticity, humility, transparency, and integrity, are discussed. Practical advice and strategies are given on how to engage millennials effectively, including the importance of personal relationships, leveraging older generations for mentorship, and ensuring corporate authenticity within the church community. The session also delves into specific, real-world examples and testimonies that illustrate how these principles can be applied successfully. Overall, this comprehensive dialogue provides valuable insights and actionable steps for anyone looking to engage with and disciple millennials in a meaningful way. He stresses the importance of understanding this generation's unique characteristics. According to Rainer, millennials are highly relational but often perceive church environments as unclear or hypocritical. He advocates for churches to pursue authenticity and integrity in their ministries. Using statistical data, Rainer highlights the low percentage of millennials who identify as Christians compared to previous generations. He emphasizes that despite this, there is significant openness and receptivity among millennials toward the gospel, possibly more than seen in prior generations. The key is for churches to make intentional efforts in relationship-buildingand personal discipleship. Various speakers at the forum further discuss strategies to effectively disciple millennials. Heather Zempel shares examples of relational discipleship occurring in Washington, D.C., pointing out that millennials are actively engaged in mission trips and small groups that prioritize hands-on, real-life applications of faith. Ariana Rimson highlights the need for millennials to align their relationships with God's word, focusing on authenticity and integrity. Jim Putman stresses the importance of relational discipleship over mere church participation, reinforcing that millennials seek genuine connections and discipleship that integrate with their everyday lives. Rainer and other speakers argue that churches must move beyond traditional and superficial churchianity to embrace genuine Christianity characterized by personal relationships and community impact. The panel collectively underscores the importance of meeting millennials where they are, both physically and culturally. They advocate for a church environment that prioritizes community engagement, social impact, and authentic relationships. The ultimate goal is to foster a generation of disciple-makers who are deeply rooted in their faith and committed to living out the teachings of Jesus in practical, transformative ways. In summary, this video provides a thorough exploration of the challenges and opportunities in discipling millennials. It offers valuable insights and practical strategies for church leaders aiming to bridge generational gaps and cultivate meaningful, faith-driven relationships within their congregations. It stresses the need for churches to adapt, be authentic, and focus on relational and community-oriented ministry to effectively reach and disciple the millennial generation. SHOW NOTES (Episode 412)In this episode I take a breath, lift my head from the workbench, and catch you up on everything happening inside the Soulcruzer universe. It has been a season of creating, refining, and laying foundations for the narrative alchemy community as we move through Advent and toward the turning of the year.I open with the Gnostic Caravan, my Advent series of Instagram reels and daily contemplations inspired by the Gnostic Tarot. Each day introduces a figure from the Gnostic mythology alongside a journaling question designed to help you navigate your own inner terrain. You don't need to be Gnostic to join in. You only need curiosity, a journal, and the desire to understand yourself a little more deeply.I invite listeners to share their reflections either privately by email, or inside the Narrative Alchemy Forums, which now include an Open Forum and soon a dedicated Podcast Forum where you can discuss episodes in a quieter, members-only space away from the noise of the public web. From there I talk about the Narrative Alchemy Journey email series. It's not a newsletter in the traditional sense. Each weekly transmission contains one insight, one actionable practice, and one journaling prompt. It's meant to unfold sequentially, guiding you through an accumulative journey of self-inquiry and transformation. If you've not joined yet, now is a good moment.I also give an update on the Narrative Alchemy Codex, the web-book evolving on Soulcruzer.com. The first four chapters are now live, with Chapter Five queued up to begin. The Codex is designed as a self-guided framework for inner alchemy, using symbolic transformation as a map for consciousness work.I talk about how this whole approach is shaped with the self-directed learner in mind. If you're the kind of person who prefers a handful of books and the chance to explore ideas for yourself rather than being told what to think, this ecosystem is being built for you.Next, I turn toward games as transformative tools. I've been building several solo RPG and tarot-inspired narrative experiences such as Magus Eternal, The Infamous Masquerade, and a short-form introductory journaling game. Each one blends archetypes with storytelling to help you access deeper layers of imagination and self-understanding.Alongside those, I'm designing a mini LARP/ARG that will run between now and the New Year. Think of it as a mission woven into everyday life, using the tools you already use: email, voice notes, websites, social platforms, and ordinary environments. It's part puzzle, part fictional mission, part adventure threaded through the world you're already moving through.I close with a wider reflection on digital presence and creativity. If you've abandoned your blog, dust it off. If you've never had one, consider starting. WordPress, Blogger, and even NeoCities (if you're willing to hand-code) all offer free entry points. This is a gentle call to reclaim the open web and share your ideas in your own space, not just inside walled gardens. Finally, I offer an invitation to connect. Whether through email, forums, socials, or an unexpected coffee somewhere in the world, I'm always open to conversation.

Ever wonder what it takes to walk away from a successful career and start over from scratch? Adam Drucker went from IT executive to dishwasher, then built something extraordinary. In this episode, I speak with Adam Drucker, founder of Doctor Dough. His Reinvention story is great. After a thriving career in IT, Adam walked away from the keyboard in 2010 to start over as a dishwasher at Paradise Cove. He worked his way up into management, landed at Border Grill with celebrity chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken managing their food truck business, then launched his own restaurant, Big Mango Cafe, which expanded to two locations before he exited just ahead of COVID. The pizza he makes now is phenomenal. I've tasted it myself, and it's the real deal. From Takeout to Doctor DoughAdam grew up in a household where his mom, bless her heart, couldn't cook. He tells this hilarious story about coming back from college breaks and hearing all his friends rave about their mom's cooking, while all Adam wanted was takeout. Those sleepovers at friends' houses showed young Adam there was a whole world of flavor out there. It planted a seed. During lockdown, with zero interest in splurging on a backyard pizza oven, Adam set out to create truly great pizza dough for a standard home oven. His wife Rita—who is one of my favorite humans—said, "Hey, maybe other people would want this." What began as a quest for the perfect crust became Doctor Dough. Today he's curing the world's pizza ills through dough sales, private catering, pop-ups, and markets. What You Can LearnHere's what you can take from Adam's story: Start where you are. Adam started as a dishwasher without culinary school. If you've got an idea that won't leave you alone, lean into it. He spent nearly two years perfecting his dough recipe because he believed in what he was creating. Take the leap even when you're terrified—Adam still asks Rita, "Is this right?" There's fear and uncertainty, but he feels fulfilled, and that matters. Involve the people you love. Adam talks about pizza-making as a family activity, flour everywhere, creating memories that matter. That's what Reinvention is really about. The Doctor Will See You Now Ready to cure your pizza cravings? The discussion is introduced by Trillia Newbell, who emphasizes gender equality in the mission of disciple-making. The initial conversation covers logistical challenges and underscores the need for family support and good will from one's community. The dialogue transitions, to a penal where Bobby presents an earnest reflection on why women should be heavily involved in disciple-making. For a moment, listeners are asked to visualize a church devoid of women's contributions. This exercise serves to underline the essential roles women have historically played in biblical narratives—from Ruth to Mary, and further extending to modern-day church settings. Trillia Newbell also emphasizes the theological basis for women in discipleship, citing scriptures like Psalm 8 and the Great Commission. She introduces four key points to support her argument that all people, including women, are created to serve. The session continues as she elaborates on how societal constraints and gender wars often hinder women from fulfilling this divine calling. Yet, she reassures that God's design includes women actively participating in disciple-making. Further adding depth to the discussion, other speakers contribute their own experiences and observations. Arriana Rimson, shares her journey emphasizing the importance of having spiritual leaders and mentors who encourage and affirm women's roles in the church. She talks about the significance of creating space for women to use their gifts, drawing on examples from her own life including support from her local church and male colleagues. Other panel speakers recount their challenges and growth as a single mother and highlights the untapped potential within single moms for evangelism and discipleship. Both stress the importance of addressing the practical needs of single mothers as a form of holistic disciple-making. The episode's focus shifts to practical advice, as the speakers provide actionable insights on integrating discipleship into daily routines. For mothers juggling numerous responsibilities, the speakers propose inviting others into their existing activities to foster natural and organic discipling relationships. By sharing personal stories and pragmatic suggestions, they demonstrate that disciple-making can be woven into the fabric of everyday life rather than being perceived as an added burden. Towards the end of the episode, the conversation becomes deeply personal. The speakers open up about the weariness that many—especially women—feel as they strive to fulfill their callings amidst life's demands. They offer encouragement and remind listeners of the grace and help that God provides. They also underscore the importance of communal and familial support in realizing these discipleship missions. In conclusion, the speakers reiterate that every woman, whether single, married, a mother, or a professional, has an intrinsic calling and a special place in the mission of disciple-making. They advocate for church leaders, especially male pastors, to recognize, encourage, and equip women in their congregations, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for spiritual growth. This episode is a profound call to action, serving as both an inspirational message and a practical guide for women to embrace their roles as disciple-makers. It reassures listeners that by leaning on God's grace, they can overcome societal barriers and fulfill their divine mission within the church. Check out our Blogs: https://discipleship.org/blog/

McCoy discusses his journey from church planting to leading a thriving congregation that emphasizes intentional discipleship. Central to this approach is the concept of the '360 Church,' represented by three circles: large weekend worship gatherings, mid-sized small groups, and intimate one-on-one or micro-group discipleship settings. This method aims to replicate Jesus' relational disciple-making style, fostering deeper connections and spiritual growth among church members. McCoy outlines the various levels of discipleship at 360 Church, such as congregational worship, deeper discussions in small groups, and highly personalized one-on-one discipleship relationships. He also introduces a discipleship tool called 'Small Circle,' which is available for free on mobile apps and features a range of resources structured to ease everyday people into disciple-making roles. The tool includes detailed lesson plans, scripture, memory verses, and methods for fostering a strong relational depth. The discussion further goes into the importance of practical tools in empowering individuals like 'truck driver Ted' to become effective disciple-makers. Steve McCoy emphasizes the necessity of providing everyday church members with the confidence and resources to engage in discipleship, thereby creating a movement within the church community. Today's video promotes the logical use of discipleship tools that go beyond mere information transfer to achieve life transformation and relational depth. #266: Creative Fix & Flip Strategy – Live Omaha REIA Event with Casey Gregersen

This episode is a replay from our live Omaha REIA event in early November, where Ted brings back Casey Gregersen—Wyo Houses and Bighorn Capital—for a deep dive into the Revive Method, the strategy his team is on track to use for 100 flips and roughly $5M in revenue with dramatically reduced risk.Casey breaks down how investors, wholesalers, and private lenders can all plug into this model by using the “Big 3” filters (equity, time, and value-add), structuring deals so the seller shares in the risk, and baking his profit directly into the rehab budget instead of gambling on an uncertain ARV. He walks through real case studies, the underwriting spreadsheet he uses, and why this approach protects you when interest rates, comps, or contractors don't cooperate. You'll also hear Casey's story—going from W-2 at Shell to 400+ units, 70–100 flips a year, and still coaching his kids' teams—and how systems, processes, and a clear “why” (choosing family over work) shaped the way he now builds businesses and helps other investors do the same.If you're a fix-and-flipper tired of skinny margins, a wholesaler sitting on “almost” deals, or a lender looking for better-protected opportunities, this episode gives you a playbook you can start using on your very next lead. You can Join the Omaha REIA - https://omahareia.com/join-todayOmaha REIA on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/OmahaREIACheck out the National REIA - https://nationalreia.org/ Find Ted Kaasch at www.tedkaasch.com Owen Dashner on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/owen.dashner Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/odawg2424/ Red Ladder Property Solutions - www.sellmyhouseinomahafast.com Liquid Lending Solutions - www.liquidlendingsolutions.com Owen's Blogs - www.otowninvestor.com www.reiquicktips.com Propstream - https://trial.propstreampro.com/reianebraska/Timber Creek Virtual - https://timbercreekvirtual.com/services/MagicDoor - https://magicdoor.com/reia/...

How should we view the Bible in a world full of cultural noise and confusion? And what does real faith look like in everyday life? I'm diving into these topics and more, offering biblical truth, personal insight, and plenty of encouragement along the way. In this Real Estate Rundown, Ted and Owen go off on one of the most painful parts of investing right now: appraisals and lenders changing the rules mid-game. From Ted's delayed car wash deal and wasted appraisal fees to Owen's stories of last-minute down payment shocks and nonsense tax assessments, they break down how shaky appraisals can wreck your timeline, your budget, and your blood pressure. You'll hear why today's market demands tighter underwriting, multiple exit strategies, and when it's time to bring in a commercial loan broker instead of begging one bank to make sense. They wrap by teeing up flipper and systems nerd Casey Gregersen, who's coming back for the Fix & Flip Mastery Series to go even deeper into how he structures deals and scales his volume. If you're an active investor, this is your reminder to stop counting on perfect appraisals—and start building smarter financing and backup plans into every deal. If this episode hits a nerve (or saves you from a bad deal), share it with another investor who's fighting their lender, and grab your seat for the next REIA Mastery Series workshop at http://reiamasteryseries.com/You can Join the Omaha REIA - https://omahareia.com/join-todayOmaha REIA on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/OmahaREIACheck out the National REIA - https://nationalreia.org/ Find Ted Kaasch at www.tedkaasch.com Owen Dashner on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/owen.dashner Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/odawg2424/ Red Ladder Property Solutions - www.sellmyhouseinomahafast.com Liquid Lending Solutions - www.liquidlendingsolutions.com Owen's Blogs - www.otowninvestor.com www.reiquicktips.com Propstream - https://trial.propstreampro.com/reianebraska/Timber Creek Virtual - https://timbercreekvirtual.com/services/MagicDoor - https://magicdoor.com/reia/...

In this final chapter of our Bible Reading and Coffee Drinking Romans series, we dive into Romans 16—a chapter that may look like a list of names, but is actually a beautiful picture of the early church. Paul celebrates faithful believers, warns against division, and reminds us that the gospel is worth giving our lives to. This chapter shows that ministry is personal, relational, and rooted in community. Grab your Bible and coffee, and let's close out Romans by celebrating the people who helped carry the good news and the God who strengthens us all. Also, use the code "Podcast20" to get 20% off our entire store. A man goes into a coma, wakes up totally paralyzed, gets fired from his job in the hospital… and somehow his investments are doing better than before. In this episode, AJ Osborne walks us through the day his body shut down from Guillain-Barré syndrome, what it felt like to wake up trapped in his own head, and the moment he realized his real estate investments were quietly keeping his family afloat while he fought to stay alive. He talks about the guilt, the pain, the look on his kids' faces the first time they saw him in the ICU—and the pride of knowing he'd built something that took care of them when he couldn't.From there, we dig into how that experience reshaped his entire mission: why he doubled down on self-storage, how he built a business that works without him, and why most people are stuck on the “earn a paycheck, hope it works out” treadmill. AJ breaks down supply and demand in housing and storage in plain English, what investors get wrong about cycles, and why owning assets (not just having a job) is the real line between security and chaos. We also get into working with family (without blowing it up), why the education system trains employees instead of owners, and how younger investors can still win in a world of high prices, high rates, and wild inequality—if they're willing to change the playbook. If this conversation punches you in the gut a little, don't just nod and move on. Share this episode with someone who's depending 100% on their job, then take one concrete step toward owning an asset this week—no matter how small.
