There was a time in his life when Dan was in a pretty difficult situation. He was facing something that most people don't ever have to go through. Even though he was not a violent person, and he certainly was not any kind of career criminal, he made a bad decision and accepted a job that, looking back, he never should have taken. But he did. And that lead him to the tough spot he found himself in. Dan was headed to prison. His plea deal meant he could get up to 60 months. 5 years of his life. One of the things he found to be the most stressful was that he had no idea what to expect. Now we fast forward to today, and Dan is at a very different place in his life. A much better, happier place. He runs a very successful business, working as a Prison Consultant. When non-violent, first-time offenders are suddenly faced with the fact that they're going to do time in prison, they are desperate for answers and guidance. What to expect, how to prepare, how to get your time reduced, how to interact with the other inmates, and Dan helps with all of that. In our conversation, Dan told me all about his own experience – what he did that earned him that prison time, what his first day was like (which is actually a pretty hilarious story in itself), and how he shortened his own time. And he told me how he helps people today. Imagine if you've never even been arrested before, but you make a stupid decision, or you drive drunk and kill someone, or whatever – and you're headed to prison. Dan knows exactly how you feel, and he has the answers you're looking for. Also – this is a Flashback episode. Dan came on the podcast back in 2020, and I recently had a conversation with him, which you'll hear at the end of this episode. Since his original episode, he's been through some stuff that I never would have predicted. If you'd like to contact Dan, his website is RDAPDAN.com, and this is his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@RDAPDAN1 Full show notes and pictures for this episode are here: https://WhatWasThatLike.com/220 Graphics for this episode by Bob Bretz. What happens when we teach science and math not just as technical subjects—but as opportunities for wonder, worship, and wisdom? In this summer flashback episode, Davies Owens is joined by renowned classical educator Ravi Jain, co-author of The Liberal Arts Tradition and a leading voice in the recovery of classical science education. Too often, classical schools are seen as focused on the humanities, while math and science remain untouched by the classical tradition. But Ravi makes a compelling case for why recovering natural philosophy—the pursuit of truth in the created world—is vital to forming whole human beings. From sketchbooks and pendulums to Pascal, Newton, and Galileo, this conversation explores how students can rediscover the beauty and order of God's creation—and how science class can become a place of discovery, not just memorization.

Less really can be more!Flashback to the end of 2024… the year ended with me feeling pressure. You know, that low-key anxiety about “having to” post everywhere, everyday… no matter what.Having to be “ON” all the time and network as MUCH as possible…It was draining. And it wasn't working anymore. So I did something radical: I let go. I created a 9-grid on IG, stepped back from FB and decided to post just 2x a week on Linked In.And guess what?✨ My business has grown exponentially.✨ Clients flowed in (so much that I currently have a waitlist for 1:1 work)!✨ Everything has felt easier and more effortless. In this week's Your Legacy Brand™ Podcast, I'm sharing how this ONE shift led to incredible growth, and how you can apply a principle in your brand that I've dubbed Rhythmic Visibility. This is especially for you if you're an introvert, ambivert, or just tired of the hustle. It doesn't mean you have to take the exact steps that I did, you simply need to uncover what that shift is for you! It's time to stop forcing and start flowing.Tune in for the mindset shifts and practical steps to show up more powerfully, by doing less. Here's to building a brand with soul and sustainability!Links mentioned in this episode:Apply for the in-person Brand Alchemy Experience HERE.Rate, Review, and Follow on Your Favorite Platform! If you loved this episode, leave us a review. And always make sure you're following the podcast so you never miss an episode. Dr. Joy Fleming reads from the book by Della Olson, "A Woman of Her Times - Stories of Women who dared to place obedience to the commands of Christ above submission to the traditions of men." First Lady of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) for 34 years, and knowing the languages of the Nordic countries at the root of the EFCA, she delves into history and lifts up those whose stories have been forgotten. The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. E. Fleming where we “true” the verse of Genesis 3:16. The Tru316 Message is that “God didn't curse Eve (or Adam) or limit woman in any way.” Once Genesis 3:16 is made clear the other passages on women and men become clear too. You are encouraged to access the episodes of Seasons 1-11 of The Eden Podcast for teaching on the seven key passages on women and men. Are you a reader? 2025 is shaping up to be the Year of Stephen King, with three films and one TV series adaptations of his work on offer for rabid fans. This week, Earth's Mightiest Critics look at Mike Flanagan's The Life of Chuck, a very different kind of King movie--inspired by a very different kind of King short story!Chuck Krantz (Tom Hiddleston) is an accountant whose imminent retirement is advertised on billboards all over town. Most residents are too busy worrying about rampant Internet outages, colossal natural disasters, and mysterious sinkholes to notice. But soon, Chuck's likeness becomes impossible to escape. How does this relate to dancing? And why are people calling this bizarre, end-of-the-world scenario an uplifting film? The answers are as tricky as The Life of Chuck's asynchronous structure. Summer Flashback: Virtue in Action with Tim DernlanHow do we move virtue from a vague school value to a transformative life habit? In this special Summer Flashback episode, we revisit one of our most impactful conversations with Dr. Tim Dernlan, joined by two of his high school students. Recorded five years ago but more relevant than ever, this episode explores how one classical Christian school brought virtue to life through intentional student formation—and yes, even lunchtime conversations at Five Guys. From Aristotle's golden mean to Biblical foundations, this isn't just a theoretical discussion. You'll hear how weekly student groups, guided reflections, and peer accountability made virtue tangible, relational, and long-lasting. If you've ever wondered how to bridge the gap between what students know and how they live, this episode is for you.
After 40 years of preaching, and serving on boards, his daughter brought him a serious theological book he had never seen before. Dr. Bill Rudd began to take seriously the possibility that the key passages on women and men taught the opposite of what he had been teaching. Then, he discovered the works of Dr. Joy Fleming and Rev. Bruce C. E. Fleming. They pointed out words and word patterns that clarified further the meaning of the passages he had misunderstood.Join Bill and Bruce, and co-host Cecile, on this BONUS episode of The Eden Podcast! "I'm one of your big fans and I recommend Tru316 constantly," says Dr. Bill Rudd. Dr. Rudd is the author of Should Women Be Pastors and Leaders in Church?: My Journey to Discover What the Bible Says About Gender Roles The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. We invite you to get from Amazon the four books by Bruce C. E. Fleming in The Eden Book Series (Tru316.com/trubooks). Would you like to support the work of the Tru316 Foundation?
