We're celebrating Valentine's Day with a spontaneous Walt Disney World day trip — and you're coming along for every bite.First, we head to Hollywood Studios for lunch at 50's Prime Time Café, where we order the onion rings and A Sampling of Mom's Favorite Recipes — the fried chicken, pot roast, and meatloaf combo that feels like a warm hug… followed by a playful scolding if your table manners slip. Then we park hop to Animal Kingdom to try two new desserts at Terra Treats. We dig into the Annual Passholder Exclusive Carrot Cake Sundae — vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, roasted pecans, carrot cake crumbs in a waffle bowl, topped with a birthday cake-flavored shell and a chocolate carrot — for $8.99. And we also try the Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich for $8.29 — a brownie layered with vanilla ice cream, topped with chocolate chips and edible cookie dough. This episode was recorded live and on location, so you'll hear our real-time reactions, first bites, honest reviews, and whether these dishes are worth your time (and your snack budget).Come hungry.
In this episode of the PurrPodcast, Dr. Susan Little and Dr. Jolle Kirpensteijn welcome Dr. Katie Tolbert from Texas A&M University for a practical and science-driven discussion on chronic pancreatitis in cats, with a strong focus on the critical role nutrition plays in long-term management. Together, they explore why chronic pancreatitis is often subtle and multifactorial, how dietary composition influences inflammation and gastrointestinal stability, and—perhaps most importantly—how treats, supplements, and small “extras” can quietly unbalance a carefully formulated therapeutic diet. Even a few treats can dilute nutrient density, disrupt macronutrient balance, and compromise clinical progress, making owner education and dietary consistency essential parts of successful case management. This episode is packed with clinical pearls for veterinarians who want to optimize nutritional strategies, improve compliance, and better understand how precision feeding can significantly impact outcomes in feline chronic pancreatitis. Thanks for tuning in to the Purr Podcast with Dr. Susan and Dr. Jolle! If you enjoyed today's episode, don't forget to subscribe, rate, and leave us a review—it really helps other cat lovers and vet nerds find the show. In this powerful episode, Ray Powell and Jim Carouso sit down with Yaqiu Wang, a leading human rights advocate and fellow at the University of Chicago's Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression. Born and raised in China, Wang offers a rare, insider perspective on what it really means to live under Xi Jinping's surveillance state - and why the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) domestic repression is no longer just a “China problem,” but a direct threat to global freedom and Indo-Pacific security. Most Westerners assume Chinese citizens have struck a “grand bargain” - trading freedom for economic prosperity. Wang dismantles this myth, revealing a population that never agreed to this trade-off but is coerced into silence by a sophisticated apparatus of fear. She explains how the CCP exports its model of digital authoritarianism to countries across Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, embedding surveillance tools into “smart city” projects that threaten democratic norms worldwide.Key Topics Discussed:The Surveillance State: Wang describes the psychological toll of living in a society where every digital interaction is monitored, leading to deep-seated self-censorship that follows Chinese citizens even after they emigrate to the West. The WeChat Trap: Discover how the “super app” WeChat functions as a Trojan horse for CCP influence, effectively holding the Chinese diaspora hostage by controlling their primary news source and connection to family back home.Xinjiang & Human Rights: An in-depth look at the mass internment of Uyghurs, the predictive policing algorithms that flag innocent behaviors (like buying gym weights) as terrorist threats, and the heartbreak of watching the U.S. retreat from its role as a global champion of human rights.Transnational Repression: How Beijing's reach extends far beyond its borders, harassing dissidents on foreign soil and pressuring foreign governments to silence critics.Tune in to understand why the fight for human rights in China is inextricably linked to the national security of the United States and its allies.About the Guest:Yaqiu is a prominent researcher and activist who previously led China research at Human Rights Watch and Freedom House. She has testified before the U.S. Congress on issues ranging from internet censorship to women's rights and continues to be a vocal advocate for the Chinese people despite personal risks.

Join us for this episode which is a fast, honest tour through what ketamine can actually do for mental health—without the hype. We sit down with addiction psychiatrist Dr. Mark Hrymoc to unpack where the evidence is strongest, who qualifies, and why IV ketamine often produces quicker relief than nasal esketamine when depression won't budge. From treatment-resistant depression and acute suicidality to anxiety and PTSD, we dig into the protocols that matter: six-session inductions, customized maintenance, and practical strategies for measuring progress with tools like the PHQ-9.We pull back the curtain on how ketamine works at the receptor level—NMDA antagonism, downstream dopamine effects, and BDNF-driven neuroplasticity—and explain why dissociation may help some patients but isn't required for benefit. You'll hear how we screen candidates, manage blood pressure, reduce nausea, and set up sessions with eye masks, ambient music, and a nurse at the bedside so the experience is safe, focused, and grounded. We also get real about addiction risk, clarifying the difference between recreational use and a carefully monitored medical protocol, and how stable recovery timelines factor into clinical decision-making.For PTSD and anxiety, we explore pairing ketamine with psychotherapy and post-session integration to turn insights into change. We compare IV ketamine's dosing flexibility with Spravato's structured pathway, talk costs and coverage, and outline how to taper other meds only after sustained stability. Looking ahead, we spotlight promising research directions—from extending response with adjuncts to early signals for substance use disorders—and why interventional psychiatry is opening a much-needed chapter beyond traditional antidepressants. If you've wondered whether ketamine is a bridge or a destination, this conversation gives you a clear, practical map. Subscribe, share with a clinician friend, and leave a review to help others find evidence-based mental health care.To contact Dr. Grover - ammadeasy@fastmail.com

Allergies are estimated to affect upwards of 30% of people globally, so why are they so often swept under the rug? People in restaurants lie about their allergies, food labelling is difficult to understand, and those with the allergies are often forced to be their own advocate to avoid a potentially life-threatening medical situation. On this episode, senior producer Teresa Carey interviews allergist Dr. Samira Jeimy to discuss the day-to-day realities of allergies, new potential medications, and why better societal support is needed for those with severe allergies. Host Dr. Samantha Yammine also explores how multilingualism can slow brain aging and a new study that is trying to cleanse wine from the taste of wildfire smoke.
