This week on Mouse Chat, Sharpie takes us to Europe for a father-son high-school graduation trip through Spain and Portugal — a destination his oldest son picked as he heads off to study architecture. From Gaudí's Sagrada Família to a flamenco tablao, high-speed trains, beach towns, and Lisbon's tile shops, here's an honest trip report with real tips you can use to plan your own visit. What we cover this week: The route: flying Aer Lingus out of Pittsburgh with a 12-hour Dublin layover each way, then Barcelona (3 nights) → high-speed train to Madrid → train to Seville → local train to Cádiz → back to Seville → a flight to Lisbon, plus a day trip to Cascais. Barcelona: an 8-hour guided tour, an hour inside Sagrada Família (and why the light, the facades, and the windows are unlike any cathedral you've seen), the Gothic Quarter, a Picasso mural, Park Güell, the harbor cable car, neighborhood markets, and a breathtaking live flamenco show. Riding the rails: what first class on Spain's high-speed trains is really like (lounge, meal service, roomy seats) and the fields of sunflowers "as far as the eye can see" between Madrid and Seville. Madrid: a tuk-tuk tour on a 104°F record-heat day — including the AI-translation guide snafu — and how to roll with it when a tour doesn't go to plan. Cádiz: a relaxing beach-town break, a spa hotel with a full thermal suite and 75-minute massages for about $100 each, and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe. Lisbon & Cascais: the cleanest city of the trip, the designer-lined Avenida da Liberdade, a rooftop-pool hotel, hunting down handmade Portuguese pottery and antique tiles, and cliff divers at a beautiful beach town 40 minutes away. Real-world tips: Spain's excellent public transit, the current euro exchange rate (about $1.15 to €1), walking 75 miles over nine days, and Sharpie's planning method — book the big-ticket sights, then fill the gaps with finds along the way. Not trying to carbon date us, but we have also been around since the creation of the Star Wars universe and the Marvel one as well. What I am saying is that we have been lifelong fans of all things Disney, and we spend a lot of time around our family's table discussing a lot of these topics. Basically, the purpose of this podcast is to continue those discussions here and maybe bring you along for the ride.Email: mickeymarvelandmore@gmail.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556208721543Instagram @mickeymarvelandmore: https://www.instagram.com/mickeymarvelandmore/X: https://x.com/Marvel_and_MoreSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4wPOwNwUqOmQOtNiuni6gMApple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mickey-marvel-and-more/id1728888080Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/e52f614e-2485-47b4-b463-8acaa3c6eadf/mickey-marvel-and-moreiHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-mickey-marvel-and-more-147327185/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@MickeyMarvelAndMoreCastbox: https://castbox.fm/ch/6015785RSS Feed: https://anchor.fm/s/f19475a4/podcast/rss

Circle of Parks Podcast: Talking all things Walt Disney World
We went all-in on a Disney Cruise Line experiment: a pre-cruise reset at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, then a four-day Disney Fantasy sailing with Castaway Cay, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, and a sea day that tested our patience and our snack limits. Between Trader Sam's, pool fireworks, and a surprisingly emotional “goodbye” lap around Walt Disney World, the trip already felt like a turning point before we even reached Port Canaveral.Once we board, it turns into a real-world guide to cruising with a family: the early-morning luggage pickup that can spark a panic, how to fix rotational dining conflicts the minute you connect to ship Wi-Fi, and what's actually worth prioritizing when the ship feels huge. We compare the main dining rooms, talk honestly about buffet highs and lows, and explain why Palo is absolutely worth budgeting time and money for if you want a true date-night meal. We also share our favorite relaxation “hack” on the Disney Fantasy: using the Rainforest Room showers to skip the tiny stateroom setup. Then it's island time. We break down what makes Castaway Cay feel perfectly curated for families, why Lookout Cay feels more like the Bahamas with real waves and Junkanoo energy, and how a kayak fishing excursion off Disney property became one of the most memorable moments of the whole sailing. We wrap with what we loved, what we didn't, whether we'd cruise again, and why this trip might be the end of our Disney travel era for a while. If you enjoy honest trip reports and practical Disney cruise tips, subscribe, share this with a Disney planner friend, and leave us a review with your biggest cruise must-do.Send us Fan MailSupport the show

In February, Seattle angel investor Charles Fitzgerald warned the region not to become the next Cleveland, prompting Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb to join the podcast and make the case for his city's comeback. This week we close the loop: Fitzgerald and GeekWire co-founder John Cook call in from an abandoned Westinghouse factory in Cleveland, where days of meeting entrepreneurs, civic leaders, and Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine left them struck by a city hustling and aligned around jobs in ways Seattle no longer is. Back home, we dig into Seattle's unanimous one-year moratorium on new large data centers, which Fitzgerald calls political theater, and he explains why he's sitting out the SpaceX IPO.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After more than 20 years away from Universal Orlando, I finally returned to experience the much-talked-about Epic Universe—and wow, what a trip it was. This week, I'm sharing a special crossover episode with my friends Dave and Toni-Ann from the Disney Crush Podcast as we talk through my first impressions of Epic Universe, Universal Orlando, and the Disney portion of our anniversary trip. Travelin’ Tiaras If you’re thinking about planning your next Disney vacation, Universal trip, cruise, or other adventure, my wife Margita and our good friend Auntie Judy are the Travelin’ Tiaras. Whether you’re booking a brand-new trip or transferring an existing reservation, they’d love to help. TravelinTiaras@gmail.com Supporting the Travelin’ Tiaras helps support the podcast, and we truly appreciate it! In This Episode Highlights include: My first visit to Epic Universe Staying at Universal’s Stella Nova Resort Why the immersive lands at Epic are getting so much attention Honest comparisons between Universal and Disney Returning to Port Orleans Riverside Flower & Garden Festival food and entertainment Using Lightning Lane and the Wait Magic service A preview ride of the new Soarin’ Over America Why Disney still feels like home The Big Takeaway Epic Universe is absolutely impressive and raises the bar in many ways. But after spending time at both destinations on the same trip, I was reminded why Walt Disney World continues to hold a special place in my heart. Sometimes the biggest takeaway from a vacation isn’t a ride or attraction—it’s sharing new experiences with people you love and spending time with friends who enjoy the same geeky passions we do.
