Some names feel harmless—until you speak them out loud. For her, that name was Jerry. Or maybe it was Miguel. She still isn't sure which one is real… or which one answered her that night. After moving into a new house in Denver, she believed the presence that haunted her childhood home was finally behind her. But it followed. This time, Jerry didn't come alone—there was another figure she called Bobby. The haunting began with small things: a framed Art Festival picture that seemed to change on its own, Shakespeare's tiny portrait shifting expressions, sometimes replaced with a face that wasn't human at all. As a child, she noticed it first. Years later, the same unease returned in Denver—cold drafts in warm rooms, the metallic scent of iron, the sound of a cough coming from empty hallways. The most terrifying moment came when she dared to say the name “Miguel” out loud—only to feel the air turn frigid, as if something unseen had crept up behind her to listen. This is a haunting that followed her across state lines and, a presence that seems to respond to a name she's now afraid to speak. #GhostStories #JerryTheHaunting #HauntedByNames #ShadowFigures #ParanormalStory #SleepParalysisOrNot #HauntedObjects #DarkPresence #TrueHaunting #NameThatShouldNotBeSpoken Love real ghost stories? Hello, music lovers! Welcome to Why Music Matters, a podcast where we examine the power and influence that music can wield in our lives. I'm your host, Jeff Miers. On today's episode, we're celebrating the Goo Goo Dolls, and in particular, the 30th anniversary of their mainstream breakthrough album, A Boy Named Goo. Though the band had already been around for a decade by the time they released this album, which would go on to reach double platinum sales status, A Boy Named Goo pushed the band over the edge, largely on the strength of the timeless hit, Name. This summer, the band is on the road, co-headlining the Summer Anthem Tour, alongside Dashboard Confessional. That tour hits KeyBank Center in Buffalo on August 9 - nearly 30 years after the Goos played the very first show in what was then known as Marine Midland Arena, on September 21, 1996. I caught up with Goos co-founder and bassist Robby Takac from the road, a few days into the Summer Anthem Tour, and we talked about A Boy Named Goo; the new generation of Goo Goo Dolls fans who discovered the band through social media outlets; the level of excitement surrounding this summer's shows; his upcoming Music is Art Festival - which takes place in and around the Terminal B Amphitheater on Buffalo's Outer Harbor on Saturday, September 20 - and the whole long, strange, and largely wonderful trip that has led the Goo Goo Dolls from the stages of Buffalo clubs to the arenas of the world. Welcome back to Why Music Matters, Robby Takac! Produced by 678Main Studio and Creative Services https://678main.com

Jedne z najbardziej pamiętnych koncertów na tegorocznym SLOT Art Festivalu miały miejsce na kameralnej, ulokowanej w festiwalowym lumpeksie Scenie Nowej. Właśnie tam w środę zagrały Szklane Oczy: post-punkowe trio z silnym rysem romantycznym. Sebastian Rogalski porozmawiał z gitarzystką i wokalistką Anią Grąbczyńską oraz basistką Agnieszką Nogą o muzyce, tekstach, niesamowitej Słowiańszczyźnie i... polskim gamedevie.https://szklaneoczy.bandcamp.com/
Zygmunt Pauker Trio – to kwartet. Nie gra w nim także perkusista Zygmunt. Młoda śląsko-zagłebiowsko-krakowska grupa w składzie: Ida Zielińska (wokal), Klara Liszka (klawisz), Szymon Jarzmus (Bas), Artur Kuś (perkusja) bawią się formą i treścią. Oscylują wokół muzyki około-jazzowej. W ich muzyce imponuje szczera emocja, lekkość, ramotkowość. O początkach, nazwie, improwizacji i brzmieniu kwartetu rozmawiał Filip Juszczak.
Bądź silny, by być pomocnym! - to hasło przewodnie Igora Bilinskyiego.
To był prawdziwy Freak Show.
OG Wroclawskiej sceny rave'owej, w rozmowie z Grześkiem Dukaczewskim opowiedział o swojej roli w rozwoju sceny klubowej Slot Art Festiwalu, o jego wyjątkowym sposobie wybierania muzyki i organizacji undergroundowych rave'ów z ekipą Prywatka.

In this illuminating episode of Cowgirl Artists of America's podcast, host Megan Wimberley converses with talented Oklahoma-based artists Lauren Florence and Kasie Salle. The trio engages in a thorough examination of art festivals, underscoring both the rewards and challenges inherent in such events. Listeners are treated to firsthand accounts of the preparation process, from the selection of suitable inventory to the logistics of booth setup. Lauren and Kasie share their unique approaches to engaging with festival-goers, emphasizing the significance of fostering genuine connections and creating memorable experiences for attendees. The conversation also touches upon the emotional landscape of festival participation, exploring how artists navigate the unpredictable nature of sales, weather, and more. This episode serves as a valuable resource for artists at any stage of their careers, offering practical advice and encouragement to pursue their artistic passions through festival participation.Takeaways: Art festivals provide a unique opportunity for artists to gain exposure and credibility in the art community. Successful participation in art festivals often requires substantial preparation and strategic planning well in advance of the event. Engaging with fellow artists at festivals can lead to valuable networking opportunities and collaborative growth. Artists can face emotional challenges during festivals, but building a supportive community can help mitigate those feelings. Weather conditions can greatly impact the festival experience, making it essential to prepare for various scenarios. Having a well-organized booth and being prepared to present your work professionally is crucial for attracting potential buyers. Longtime listeners will know that when it comes to comic-cons and arts festivals, we're always down. But for this week's guest, we're not headed to Boston or New York City—we're going to Italy to get a closer look at the Lake Como Comic and Arts Festival, which takes place May 16-18. Steve Morger, the co-founder of the festival, talks with us about how this unique event got its start and the growth he's seen over the years. We hear about some of the guests, Steve's personal favorites and what he enjoys the most about this comic-con by the lake. The location of the festival— the historic Villa Erba in Cernobbio, Lake Como Italy—is perhaps the best part, and Steve shares how he found the place and why it's remained their home all these years.
According to a September 2023 Pew Research Center survey, more than one in five Black adults in the United States believe that owning a business is essential for achieving financial success. Although Black-owned businesses have experienced significant growth in recent years, they still represent a small percentage of overall firms and revenue in the U.S., based on our analysis of federal data. In 2021, majority Black-owned businesses accounted for only about 3% of all U.S. firms that could be classified by the race and ethnicity of their owners. These businesses generated just 1% of the total gross revenue from all classifiable companies that year, while roughly 14% of the American population identified as Black. In 2021, Black or African American majority-owned firms provided income for approximately 1.4 million workers, with estimated annual payrolls of $53.6 billion. However, most Black-owned firms tend to be smaller enterprises. Two-thirds of these businesses had fewer than 10 employees, 13% had between 10 and 49 employees, and only 3% had 50 or more employees. Additionally, 16% reported having no employees at all (employment size is determined by the number of paid workers during the March 12 pay period according to the ABS).
