**TRIGGER WARNING** THIS EPISODE DISCUSSES LOSS -INCLUDING LOSS OF A CHILD.Welcome to a profound dive into the wild beast that is grief. A multidimensional journey that's anything but straightforward, filled with emotional highs and lows that can leave you feeling as if you're on a rollercoaster. As your hosts, grief coach Jess Lowe and therapist KathyDan Moore, we will guide you through this complex maze, covering everything from the various stages of grief to the unique emotional challenges it presents. From the depths of denial and anger, to the bargaining and acceptance stages, we unlock the different manifestations of each phase, emphasizing that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to grieving. Determined to look grief in the eye, we delve into the significance of self-care and the importance of granting ourselves grace during this difficult time. We promise, moving forward doesn't equate to leaving your loved one behind. Rather, it's about nurturing yourself and creating a fresh start, all while cherishing the memory of your loved one. Lastly, we tackle the five pitfalls of grief - offering ways to overcome them. We advocate for embracing grief as a way of honoring and commemorating the love for our loved one, even in their absence. It's a heartwarming conversation that anyone grappling with grief should not miss out on. Tune in and let's navigate this journey together.**********************Resources:Grief.comINSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL GRIEF COACHING- from Grief to GratitudeAuthor Mentioned:Malcolm Gladwellhttps://www.gladwellbooks.com/**********************DISCLAIMER: This podcast is for educational purposes only and does not replace the advice you may be receiving from a licensed therapist. This podcast and website represents the opinions of KathyDan Moore, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Grief Coach Jess Lowe, and their guests to the show and website. One of my favorite unexplained subjects is Fae Folk, and for many people, the topic conjures up thoughts of friendly forest elves that act as guardians to the natural world. Growing up, even my grandparents had books that spoke of these illusive beings. And although I, and my grandparents never fully believed that Fae Folk were in fact real entities, I was taught to respect them all the same, as well as the lore that surrounded them. Maybe it was my grandparent's way of teaching me to respect the woods, and all of the animals that reside within, or maybe it was actually something more.It may sound strange, but as I've gotten older, I've started believing in the possibility that these creatures could be real. Maybe they don't reside in our world as we know it, but perhaps they live alongside us, dwelling in an alternate reality or dimension, and stepping into our consciousness at opportune moments. This of course is just a theory, and I can't say with 100% certainty that I believe in The Fae, but I want to.The belief in these beings is deeply rooted in almost every culture throughout the world, albeit with slight variations as to how they look, their intentions, and their overall disposition. But one of the resounding characteristics that people everywhere seem to agree on, is that these creatures have a mischievous side. In some cases, which I've shared in previous episodes, some of them seem to be downright insidious. And this brings me to the main focus of tonight's episode.TELL YOUR STORY Email or Voice Message: https://www.paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/tell-your-story SUPPORT THE SHOW Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/join/paranormalmysteries?BuyMeACoffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/paranormalPayPal: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=MG24QCZBAWRRNMerchandise: https://www.zazzle.com/store/paranormalmysteries WEBSITE, FORUM & SOCIAL MEDIA Website: https://www.paranormalmysteriespodcast.com Forum: https://www.paranormalmysteriespodcast.com/forum YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ParanormalMysteriesPodcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paranormalmysteriespodcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/paranormalmysteriespodcast Twitter: https://twitter.com/ParaMysteryPod MY WIFE'S “SLEEP AND RELAXATION PODCAST” YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@SleepandRelaxationPodcast Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3aOsZoy Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3zwS29T Pandora: https://bit.ly/3xjB1NX EPISODE REFERENCES 1. We can't wait to runcation with you soon! RUN On Saturday, Aimee ran the Tunnel to Towers 5K in Fort Myers on the Florida Southwestern State College campus. The cause and organization has a motto: “While we have time, let us do good.” We did support a great cause at that race weekend, and this foundation supports our country's heroes and their families. Their contribution is mortgage-free homes to families of fallen heroes, those injured serving our great nation in our military. This organization supports police officers, firefighters, and first responders in the same way. It was a moving tribute to open the race and a safe, closed course on the college campus. The medal and shirt were well done, too. The best part is that these 5K foot races are run nationwide, so chances are one is near you if you want to participate and support a great organization. Find out more about the race and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at these links: https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/FortMyers/TunneltoTowers5KRunWalkFortMyersFL https://t2t.org/ EAT The post-race party brought tasty chicken wings from a place called Glory Days. These were smoked and seasoned with their special dry-rub recipe. Plus, the staff serving these delicious and smoky offerings were so friendly. They provided post-race water, too. It was a protein-packed post-race offering. Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and Georgia have locations, too. You can have these and a great margarita, their restaurants, and much more! If you needed carbs, bagels were only two steps away at the next booth, provided by The Bagel Factory. This is a local bagel place with all sorts of tasty bagels and cream cheese spreads in various flavors, even pumpkin available now that it is fall, too! DRINK We are on hiatus right now from enjoying cocktails, beer, or wine as we start to ramp up our training again. Dana is testing a new beverage that serves as a meal and can also support our training and recovery. We are getting into the heart of our training to return to the Disneyland races with the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge (a 10K and Half Marathon Challenge). Often, we need a protein-packed meal but have little time to make it. Other protein shakes we have tried are chalky, and some have an artificial aftertaste. Dana researched and looked for better. Enter The Whole Feast. It is all-natural and packs 21 grams of protein per serving, but Dana says it is the best-tasting protein shake he has ever had. In episode 192 of America Adapts, Doug Parsons hosts Dr. Kelly Turner and Dr. Ladd Keith. Kelly is an Associate Professor of Urban Planning at UCLA and Ladd is an assistant professor in the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning at the University of Arizona. We learn how extreme heat disproportionately impacts marginalized communities. We also explore the evolving media coverage of extreme heat. The three of us break down the highs and lows of all the media coverage of extreme heat this past summer. We also learn about Kelly's research on heat's impact on California schools, and what that means for both public health and student learning. We take a dive into federal approaches to heat management and learn about the glaring disparity in resources and attention allocated to extreme heat compared to other climate hazards and ponder the potential for FEMA to classify extreme heat as a disaster declaration. We also discuss the value of having a national adaptation plan for extreme heat planning. Finally, and yes, we go there, we get an update on the efforts to name heat waves. We highlight the pros and cons of this approach and discuss other options. It is a gangbuster episode and that's just a sampling of what we cover. Transcripts for this episode available here. (These are computer generated so pardon the errors.) Topics Covered: Dr. Turner specializes in heat equity research, while Dr. Keith focuses on heat policy planning and governance. Increasing prevalence of extreme heat due to climate change and its disproportionate impact on marginalized groups. Media coverage of extreme heat is becoming more sophisticated, highlighting impacts on workers and public health. Dr. Turner's research in California focuses on schools and heat's impact on student learning. Discussion of heating planning strategies including shade in urban design. The Biden administration is updating heat safety labor laws, emphasizing the need for comprehensive regulations at state and federal levels and the potential for FEMA labeling heat events as disaster declarations. Naming heat waves to increase public awareness is debated, highlighting the importance of reaching vulnerable populations. Will heat lead to managed retreat from regions that become uninhabitable? A national adaptation plan is emphasized to address heat impacts, especially for marginalized communities. Thoughts on Jeff Goodell's “The Heat Will Kill You” book. A series of attacks and murders ends with strange calls to 911. These calls weren't from the victims or the onlookers, but rather the killer himself. While he was so emotional on these calls he earned the name "the weepy voiced killer", it didn't seem to deter him from continuing his violent streak. That is, until he found someone that would cause his downfall. To access earlier episodes of Corpus Delicti and to help support the show, please visit patreon.com/corpusdelictiOur merch store can be found at teepublic.com/stores/corpus-delicti-podcastMusic by:Kai Engel"Daemones"Blooper music by:Art of Escapism"Coal Miners"This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. As a parent, it can be easy to let our past relationship with school as a student or as a parent of an older child color our current relationship with school. RUN, EAT, and DRINK with RunDisney Legend Alan Young In this episode, we talk with a member of the “Runcation Nation” and pillar of the RunDisney community, Alan Young. He talks about his storied journey and fantastic history with RunDisney. He took this journey with his beautiful wife, Grace, who you see in some of the episode artwork pictures this week. He is what's known as “perfect” in the RunDisney realm. What does it mean… to be “perfect,” you ask? It is a title given to all those who have completed all Walt Disney World Marathons in history. He goes further than all those who have done that, though. He is the only one left who can say he has completed the Disneyland Marathon when it was held once upon a time. With his passion for Disneyland and Walt Disney World evident, Alan talked with us about his favorites across the parks when it came to eating and drinking in the Disney bubble after the running. We loved it because he confirmed much of what we have had at the parks and at Disney Springs, too! Find out more about the Disney dining options that Alan talked about at https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/. You can find out more about RunDisney races at www.rundisney.com. In episode 188 of America Adapts, Doug Parsons hosts Dr. Linda Shi, an Assistant Professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University. Dr. Shi takes us on an insightful journey through her experience at a managed retreat conference in New York City. She navigates conversations encompassing climate migration, the intriguing concept of the Northeast as a climate haven, and pioneering initiatives in cooperative housing. Highlighting the NOAA "NEST" program – Northeast Safe and Thriving for All – Dr. Shi explores how regions can emerge as climate refuges amid population migrations due to climate impacts. The conversation also delves into the intricate terrain of property rights and their misalignment with climate adaptation needs, revealing the inadequacy of many existing land use models. Lastly, a short interview with Amy Chester, Managing Director of Rebuild by Design, spotlighting their "Atlas of Disaster" report. This report provides a state-specific lens on federal disaster declarations and funding, serving as a compelling resource that weaves together the diverse threads of climate adaptation and disaster response. Topics Covered: Managed Retreat Conference in New York City: Climate Migration, Northeast as Climate Haven, Cooperative Housing Private Sector Involvement: Climate Alpha and Equity Considerations Buyout Programs for Disaster Mitigation: Federal vs. State NOAA Nest Program: Climate Migration, Northeast as Climate Haven, Funding Prospects Land and Property Philosophies in Climate Adaptation What property rights model lends itself best to climate adaptation? We can't wait to runcation with you soon! RUN, EAT, and DRINK on a Dopey Challenge Runcation at Walt Disney World with Dawn Broussard! It's an episode perfect for your long run! In this episode, we talk with a member of the “Runcation Nation” and patron of our show, Dawn Broussard. She talks about completing the Dopey Challenge with her daughter this past year. Of course after completing a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and her first-ever marathon in the SAME weekend, she had to explore, indulge, and celebrate this big accomplishment. She selected Artist Point, a character dining experience at Wilderness Lodge. Which characters, you ask? Snow White, Grumpy, and of course, Dopey! Photo opp is included! This meal features tasty shared appetizers, individual entrees, and shared desserts along with a non-alcoholic beverage included in the price of the dinner. The biggest stars of the meal had to be the slow-braised pork shank and the Enchanted Apple martini that Dawn talked about with us. Yummy! We want to check out the Miner's Treasure cookies and cream dessert, too! It all sounds very tempting, very much like the poison apple that Snow White was tempted with in the fairytale. There are food options for the kids and themed drinks without alcohol, too, if you are still hydrating after your race, like the Transformation Potion and Wishing Apple Punch. It sounds like this meal has something for everyone! This past Wednesday, July 26th, 2023, the GOP Committee on Oversight, and Accountability held a hearing which focused on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. Also known as UAPs.
