And, this week it's one for the commercial property owners and managers with an interview with Wayne Herbert from AI Assets. A smart new PropTech with some very big credentials that solves a problem nearly every building owner currently has with its asset register. Now, AI Assets is an AI driven property asset management platform that makes it quick and easy to identify, capture, and manage the thousands of features, systems, materials, and devices that make up the asset register of any commercial or industrial building. The company used to be known as Aston Industries, but recently it changed its name to AI Assets to reflect the capability of its new platform. Which is used with some landmark projects with major property owners, including Woolworths, CommBank, and even the Sydney Cricket Ground. Wayne has more than 20 years experience working in property valuations and asset management consulting himself. So, he knows firsthand how laborious, time-consuming, and problematic the traditional methods of capturing assets for an asset register is, and how powerful getting access to an up-to-date asset data can be when budgeting and reporting. ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life* * *Summary for March 8, 2020* * *Dear Folks -This week in Ordinary Life the title of the talk I offered was,“Living with Wisdom and Compassion With and In a ’Spacious Heart.’"We have had, are having and will have an incredible journey. We are a life form composed of stardust that gives the universe a way to reflect upon itself. To be human is to give expression to the Great Mystery that holds everything in existence. The emerging story of evolutionary cosmology has the power to heal us. What blocks us from both receiving and giving this healing is our own blindness. Embedded early in this talk is a presentation made by Wayne Herbert about the unimaginable size of the cosmos.I also speak briefly about where Jesus got his ideas and why Buddha’s teachings are so helpful to our ongoing growth. We each decide whether to be compassion or not. We are responsible for what we are. That is a brief summary of the talk offered in Ordinary Life. The audio version contains all the asides and ad libs. You can read or download the text from which I spoke, view the presentation slides, listen to the audio of the talk and/or watch the video of the talk using the links below. ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life* * *Summary for October 28, 2018* * *Dear Folks -This Sunday was my first time to speak since taking a month off. It was so good to see those of you in the Houston area who showed up on Sunday. I am grateful to Wayne Herbert for managing these e-mail messages twice a week, keeping the Ordinary Life community up to date on who was speaking. And, for maintaining the website. If you are interested in knowing more about how we spent some of the month off, go to the website and read the blogs I wrote about our trip to and through the Balkans.Actually, there is a whole team of people who make Ordinary Life work. If you show up on Sunday, or watch the live-stream or video of the class, you’ll see them. They are the ones who make sure things work - like the audio-visual setup, making announcements, keeping up with the money you give, making sure it is used responsibly and transparently, etc. There are nine people on the Steering Committee and right now they are putting a lot of time and energy into making sure the Michael Dowd Event goes well. “Thank you!” to all of them.On Thursday, November 8, the Ordinary Life Women are hosting a special luncheon titled “Family Reunion - Meeting Our Cousins 1,000 Times Removed.” The group has invited a number of Jewish and Muslim friends to join our Ordinary Life members in a wide ranging discussion featuring Moses, Jesus and Mohammad. Bring a food to share and join in a large discussion that will break into smaller facilitated discussion groups. In light of currently national and world events, very timely. As for this past week in Ordinary Life -We live in a disturbed and disturbing world. Religion has gotten involved in politics in a way we have not seen for decades. Uncertainty is the key psychological reality of our time. Our goal, in my opinion, is to aspire to become practitioners of the core values of Jesus. These are peace, love, joy, patience and humility. Also, in this talk I give an overview of the territory I hope to head into and cover in the weeks and months ahead. We will focus on the questions of Jesus as found in amazing stories told about him and amazing stories he told. In this talk I looked at the story about Jesus turning water into wine. In his absence, I (that's me... That’s the short version. You can read the text of my presentation at the link below.A quick update: Bill has sent his first blog post of his trip in the Balkans; his posts will be found on the Ordinary Life website. ORDINARY LIFE - Thoughts and Ideas to Help You Live a Happier Life* * *Summary for September 23, 2018Dear Folks -Bill and Sherry have begun their vacation in the Balkans and will be away from Ordinary Life for the next few weeks. I, Wayne Herbert, will be preparing the weekly previews and summaries until Bill returns. Please contact me if you have comments or suggestions. Bill will be sharing his journey on the blog while he travels. This last Sunday, Brooke Summers-Perry and Bill had an engaging dialogue about life, mindfulness, and the journey that all of us are taking, which they titled“Living the Questions”Brooke and Bill had an engaging and thoughtful discussion about our society, its ills, and how we can live in it and make it better. They spoke of our communal interdependence, dealing with our anger and triggers, and channeling it constructively. Brook spoke of never learning to deal with anger in healthy ways because "good girls" weren't supposed to have those kinds of feelings, and how that affected her life. Bill spoke of spiritual practice: Being aware without being reactive and judgmental, noting a Buddha acronym, "RAIN"... Recognize the thought, Allow, accept it, don’t be judgmental about it, Investigate, identify where it shows up in your body. Then, develop a non attached relationship to it, Nurture. This is only a very brief summary of the wide ranging discussion Brooke and Bill had in this week's Ordinary Life.Brooke has transcribed the discussion into a text format (thank you, Brooke!) and you can read the discussion between Brooke and Bill at the link, below. You can view Brooke's handouts, and find the audio and video version of the discussion at the link below. If you have not registered for the Michael Dowd event, I strongly encourage you to do so.
