Chapter 18 of The Hork-Bajir Chronicles, part 22.5 of Animorphs Aloud, a fan-produced read-aloud version of the Animorphs series. There is Yeerk speech in this chapter which uses brackets around the dialogue, but I couldn't decide if that should be considered thought-speech or not., since it was implied to be used in the Yeerk pool only between Yeerks. I used the the standard thought-speak sound effect in #18 for the Yeerks inside Leeran Controllers who were using thought-speak (thought that situation may have just been typos), but the brackets are also used for Yeerks communicating inside a host brain, for which I have a different effect. I decided to go with the latter option here. I'd love to know what you all think about that logic! Is this proper thought-speak or no? Thanks for listening! Chapter 3 of The Hork-Bajir Chronicles, part 22.5 of Animorphs Aloud, a fan-produced read-aloud version of the Animorphs series. The trickiest thing with this book was deciding what to do with the Hork-Bajir voices. The official audiobook has the spoken language in the gruff, gravelly voice typical of the Hork-Bajri dialogue of other books, but of course, that would be murder on the voice of a human narrator, so the internal narration of Dak is an easier-to-speak, more normal voice. I think it works well, but I also wanted to maintain consistency with my own previous iterations of Hork-Bajir in Animorphs Aloud. I went with an easier voice for Dak that I could maintain overall (which was still hard - many breaks required!), and then had to decide whether I would apply my slight pitch and tempo drop on his narration. Those effects work great on a single alien line, but they do sound slightly off when listened to for an extended time (at least for me). But at last I decided to go ahead and do it because why not. It's not ideal for narration in general, but I'm already breaking the rules by including sound effects for the onomatopoeias, so why not. (I also did it for all the dialogue for Sub-Visser Seven in The Andalite Chronicles, so again, consistency). Hopefully it sounds okay to you all! Thanks for listening! Chapter 2 of The Hork-Bajir Chronicles, part 22.5 of Animorphs Aloud, a fan-produced read-aloud version of the Animorphs series. You know, this is the very first book on this podcast where I haven't had a subtitle! (Not all websites show the subtitle, but I usually put the cover tagline, or in the case of the special books like Megamorphs, the cover subtitle (eg "In the Time of Dinosaurs").) I keep thinking I must be forgetting something every time I load an episode because I'm now skipping that field each time! Thanks for listening! Prologue of The Hork-Bajir Chronicles, part 22.5 of Animorphs Aloud, a fan-produced read-aloud version of the Animorphs series. Summary: Before there were six Animorphs fighting a battle on Earth, there was a war between Hork-Bajir, Andalites, and Yeerks. But more than that, there was the story of Dak Hamee, a Hork-Bajir "seer", Aldrea, the daughter of disgraced Andalite Prince Seerow, and Esplin 9466, an ambitious Yeerk. Their decisions will affect not just their own futures, but the fate of entire species... Thanks for listening! Don't forget to support the official Animorphs audiobooks! This one is especially was well-done in my opinion! I was so impressed with all the narrators doing the gravelly Hork-Bajir voices, it's very taxing on the voice! SO sorry that this took extra time to release! I was going out of town earlier this week, but I was completely prepared by recording the first couple chapters ahead of time so I could work on/post them while I was away....then I had to go and ruin it by being completely inconsistent in how I pronounced Jara Hamee's name in the prologue! I kept flipping between Jah-rah and Jair-uh, my goodness. Got back last night, rerecorded eight lines, and here you finally go!
