Paleontologists have often determined how old a dinosaur was by counting the growth rings in its bones. Just like with trees, it was thought that each ring corresponded to a single year of age. But researchers who studied crocodiles at an outdoor recreation center near Cape Town appear to have poked a hole in that approach. In the crocodiles, which are some of the closest living relatives of dinosaurs, there was more than one growth ring laid down per year. The results contribute to a growing debate over the best way to age animals.Read more of freelance science reporter Ari Daniel's story here.Interested in more on the future of science? In 1903, two hunters tracking moose through the frozen Yukon wilderness stumbled upon a massive furrow in the mud — thirty feet long, flanked by clawed footprints the size of a man — and followed the trail straight to something that shouldn't exist. What a French traveler, a gold prospector, and a Jesuit priest would witness clambering out of a remote Arctic ravine defies every assumption about what still roams the Canadian wild.*No AI Voices Are Used In The Narration Of This Podcast*IN THIS EPISODE: Is it possible that dinosaurs lived recently? Like, in the 1900s? Even more bizarre… could they have been living in the 20th century in, of all places, the Arctic Circle? (The Monster of Partridge Creek) *** On May 3, 1881, Mena Muller and Louis Kettler took the ferry from New York City to Hoboken, New Jersey. They were going to be married in Hoboken, although they each had a spouse already. The legality of the marriage did not concern them; they were returning to Germany and would start a new life there. But somehow their plans went awry; that night Louis Kettler returned to New York alone and ten days later Mena Muller's body was found in New Jersey with a fractured skull. (The Guttenberg Murder) *** Timothy Trespas lives in his home in Brooklyn. And I do mean in his home – as he rarely leaves the house, because he feels he is being stalked everywhere he goes by gangs of individuals. And he's not the only one. (Gang Stalking Paranoia) *** They say walking is good for you… but that depends on where you walk, when you walk, and who you bump into, as one person found out late one night just trying to alleviate the boredom. (The Smiling Man) *** We've all slept in longer than we planned. What's the longest you ever slept in? Three hours? Thirteen hours? Did you ever sleep three days straight? I think I see maybe two hands raised out there. You two are amateurs. One man slept 300 days out of the year. (Never Enough Sleep) *** A man had several unexplained incidents while hiking in a German forest. Shaken by the events, he eventually encounters a man with bright green eyes. Was this a Guardian Angel or was it a gray alien? In a world where evolution is treated as an unquestionable fact, Christians are often told that discoveries must always be forced to fit a millions-of-years timeline. But what happens when physical evidence refuses to cooperate? And why do evolutionists insist there is “no problem” when soft tissue is found in dinosaur bones that are supposedly tens of millions of years old? Join us as Eric Hovind sits down with Dr. Joel Brown, the director of the Creation Research Society, to examine the growing evidence of soft tissue in dinosaur fossils and why it makes no sense in an evolutionary framework. We will cut through assumptions and animated stories to ask a simple question: does the evidence actually support deep time, or does it point to a young, created Earth? Watch this Podcast on Video at: https://creationtoday.org/on-demand-classes/dinosaur-soft-tissue-vs-millions-of-years-creation-today-show-465/ Join Eric LIVE each Wednesday at 12 Noon CT for conversations with Experts. Send a textWhat if the real dinosaur debate isn't about bones, but about the story we use to read them? We take you from ancient dragon legends and striking biblical descriptions to modern fossil labs that report soft tissue in dinosaur remains, then ask why two smart people can study the same evidence and land on timelines that are worlds apart. Rather than dodging the hard questions, we walk straight into them: Could Noah have housed dinosaur kinds on the Ark? Why do so many cultures remember great reptiles? And how do post-flood changes—shorter lifespans, harsher climates, and rising fear between man and beast—explain rapid extinctions?Along the way, we contrast two starting points. One begins with deep time and unguided processes; the other trusts the authority of Scripture, a recent creation, and a global flood. Those foundations don't just sort fossils; they shape ethics, purpose, and hope. If suffering and death ruled for ages before humanity, the biblical arc from Eden to the cross wobbles. But if death enters through Adam and the fossil record reflects catastrophe and judgment, then the atonement of Jesus Christ stands at the center of history, with the promise of a restored creation where death and predation end.We keep the tone warm and thoughtful as we unpack Leviathan and Behemoth, the meaning of “kinds,” and why average dinosaur size matters for Ark logistics. We press into how worldview forms conclusions, encourage honest inquiry, and invite you to consider whether Scripture should frame consensus—or the other way around. Listen to be challenged, to think deeply about origins and meaning, and to strengthen a biblical worldview that makes sense of evidence and life. If this conversation stirred you, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more listeners can join the journey.Support the showhttps://www.jacksonfamilyministry.comhttps://bobslone.com/home/podcast-production/

In this episode of Casual Chats, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 1993 animated film We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story based on the 1987 book by the same name by Hudson Talbott. Four dinosaurs consisting of a Tyrannosaurus Rex named Rex, a Pterodactyl named Elsa, a Triceratops named Woog, and an Apatosaurus named Dweeb were fed a cereal called Brain Grain by Captain Neweyes and his alien companion Vorb to make them smart. They're tasked on heading to New York City around the Middle Future to meet up with Dr. Bleeb, the main curator of The Museum of Natural History. The dinosaurs meet up with a boy named Louie who ran away to join the circus and a girl named Cecilia who is alone due to her parents not being around. When Louie and Cecelia reaches the circus, they later learned that it's run by Captain Neweyes' brother Professor Screweyes whose main goal is to scare people. When the film premiered in theaters, it made $9.3 million dollars out of a $20 million dollar budget with mixed to negative reviews. Patricia covered this film during her lookback of the Amblimation trilogy while Arun hasn't seen the film since he was a kid. What did they think of the film?
They once ruled the Earth. Now, they could end up in living rooms. AP correspondent Marcela Sanchez has more.

While often remembered as a catchy novelty track, Was (Not Was)'s “Walk the Dinosaur” is actually about our own imminent extinction through nuclear annihilation. Who knew the song would continue to be relevant almost forty years after its release? We trace the band's humble beginnings in Michigan to their surprising success throughout the 80s, with guest vocalists that included Leonard Cohen, Ozzy Osbourne, Madonna, Frank Sinatra Jr. and Kim Basinger (!). For us, and maybe to the chagrin of the Was brothers, we believe the highlight of it all is this way smarter-than-people-realize hit whose video was continuously on our TV sets in 1989. Trump's head is stuck in the 80s so he may not have noticed that cable is dying. All he can think about is getting his greedy little hands on CNN so he can make them say nice things about him. But independent outlets—like The Bulwark— are changing the media space and are beyond the reach of a corrupted FCC. Nevertheless, our screens are going to be filled with vast quantities of pro-MAGA propaganda. Meanwhile, Mamdani played to Trump's 80s tabloid obsession to win a favor, which was good, but it was also something that would have the left howling in disgust if Hakeem had done it. Plus, Hegseth is bullying Anthropic because he wants to mass surveil Americans, how states can legally fight back against ICE and the administration's election meddling, and the irony of cool, edgy, masculine men behaving like women with Mar-a-Lago face.Amanda Carpenter joins Tim Miller for the weekend pod.show notes Tim and Andrew on Mamdani's latest White House visit Friday's "Morning Shots" The Focus Group Podcast on Apple and YouTube Protect Democracy's website Protect Democracy's lawsuit against ICE on behalf of Maine residents Protect Democracy on the Universal Constitutional Remedies Act Tim's playlist Tickets for our LIVE show in Austin on March 19: TheBulwark.com/Events. In this episode, Dr. Howie Mell sits down with Dr. Ken Milne about recent data and evidence on the use of cervical collars and cervical motion restriction. The question the work to answer is whether it's time for the C-collar to follow backboards and dinosaurs into the relative history of medicine.

Dinosaurs were getting into the mainstream almost as soon as they appeared on the scientific scene and have a rich history in novels, and short stories. This week we are joined by Richard Fallon, a historian specialising in science in literature and with a particular interest in prehistoric animals in this context. Richard and Dave recently wrote a book chapter on the odds parallels between Jurassic Park and Michael Crichton and the Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle. Having won a prize for this ("Doylean Honors" from the ACD Society!) we though it a great time to sit down with Richard and talk about dinosaurs and other ancient reptiles in fiction and how this has changed over time. Here's some of Richard's collective works: Creatures of Another Age: https://www.valancourtbooks.com/creatures-of-another-age.html Contesting Earth's History in Transatlantic Literary Culture, 1860–1935: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Contesting-History-Transatlantic-Literary-1860-1935/dp/0198926162/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0 Reimagining Dinosaurs in Late Victorian and Edwardian Literature: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reimagining-Dinosaurs-Victorian-Edwardian-Literature/dp/1108984398/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&dib_tag=se&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4n1IVVZf74mbQ0RyFryuMDimH9ZiV04X3glC8p-KfT8.D618IUFHF0G27P0maCF82yXIjgZs_wzvKoA6n0yiz4Y&qid=1770283675&sr=8-1 And you can follow him on Bluesky: @richardfallon.bsky.social
The Superhero Show #614Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: RemembranceThe Superhero Show: Remembrance — Ghosts of the Past ResurfaceThis week on The Superhero Show, the hosts return to the world of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs to unpack episode 1.09, “Remembrance.” In this emotionally charged chapter, the past refuses to stay buried as long-lost technology, painful memories, and old-world ambitions collide. Unlike the jungle-heavy action of previous episodes, Remembrance shifts focus inward—forcing Jack Tenrec and the residents of Sea City to confront history itself.Echoes of the Old WorldRemembrance begins with the discovery of preserved relics from the pre-apocalypse era—artifacts that stir curiosity and ambition in equal measure. When evidence surfaces suggesting the existence of advanced cryogenic technology, hope spreads through the city. Could survivors from the old world still be alive? The hosts highlight how the episode carefully builds intrigue. Instead of immediate action, the tension grows through possibility. The idea that someone from the ancient past might awaken sparks excitement—but also unease. After all, the old world is the one that collapsed.Awakening the PastWhen a preserved figure from before the great cataclysm is revived, Remembrance pivots from mystery to moral conflict. The awakened survivor carries knowledge, but also outdated ideals rooted in control, hierarchy, and technological dominance. The hosts explore how this character represents more than a person—he embodies the mindset that led to Earth's downfall. At first, the promise of forgotten science dazzles Sea City's leadership. However, Jack remains skeptical. He understands that progress without balance can be catastrophic. As the revived figure begins pushing for the reactivation of dangerous systems and old infrastructure, the tension rises sharply.Clash of IdealsThe heart of Remembrance lies in its philosophical battle. The old world valued power and expansion. Jack values harmony and sustainability. The hosts dive into how the episode stages this conflict not just through dialogue, but through escalating stakes as ancient systems threaten to destabilize the fragile ecosystem Sea City depends on.As dormant machinery hums back to life, the danger becomes immediate. Technology once meant to protect civilization now risks destroying what little has been rebuilt. The episode's action crescendos as Jack and Hannah scramble to shut down systems that should have remained relics.Letting Go to Move ForwardBy the conclusion of Remembrance, the message becomes clear: survival requires learning from the past, not resurrecting it wholesale. The revived figure's tragic arc underscores that nostalgia can be dangerous when it ignores the consequences of history. The hosts reflect on how this episode deepens the show's overarching themes. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs has always balanced spectacle with environmental caution, but Remembrance brings that philosophy to the forefront in a powerful way.Final Thoughts on RemembranceIn the end, Remembrance stands as one of the most thoughtful entries in the series. It trades pure action for emotional weight and philosophical stakes, reminding viewers that the greatest threats aren't always dinosaurs or poachers—sometimes they're the unresolved ghosts of yesterday.Tune in to The Superhero Show as the hosts break down every layered moment of Remembrance, exploring how the past shapes the future in a world still fighting to survive.Looking for More?Want to learn more about...

Why did the dinosaurs go extinct? Many of you have learned about the meteorite that scientists say hit the earth 66 million years ago and killed off many dinosaur species. But some dinosaurs survived, and the birds you see flying around today are their direct descendants! In this episode we trace the connection between modern birds and prehistoric dinosaurs. Other questions include: Were any dinosaurs mammals? How did bird dinosaurs survive? Are crocodiles related to dinosaurs? Did dinosaurs have feathers? How do we know? Did all dinosaurs lay eggs? Our guest is Dr. Emily Bamforth, curator of the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in Alberta, Canada.Download our learning guides: PDF | Google Slide | Transcript
