Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm honored to introduce you all to: Montauk and Camp Hero, ritual abuse, mind control, human experimentation, and organized abuse survivor, whistleblower, and overcomer, former Camp Hero employee, loving father, biking, hiking and outdoor lover, former actor, humanitarian, and passionate purveyor of truth: Joe Loffreno For many years of his life, Joe was the steadfast steward of Camp Hero State Park, a wild, windswept stretch at the eastern edge of Long Island, where craggy cliffs meet the restless Atlantic. This abandoned military base, with its looming Cold War-era radar tower and whispered ties to Stranger Things, is more than a workplace for Joe - it's the epicenter of his life, his memories, and his nightmares. “It's a place that's dominated my life,” he's confessed, his voice carrying the weight of decades spent unraveling its mysteries.A Montauk native, Joe's walked the park's eerie trails and sealed WWII gunnery tunnels, knowing its secrets better than most. But it's his own story that sets him apart - a chilling discovery that he was one of the “Montauk Boys,” abducted as a child during the 80's. It was under hypnosis that he would have vivid memories flooded back: a stranger luring him to the base, men in civilian clothes leading him to a sunken house, and an underground lab where he lay on a table, wires snaking from his body like a science experiment gone wrong. “They analyzed us like animals,” he recalls, haunted by visions of up to 50 other kids, some of whom he believes met darker fates. “It was a very dark, very evil thing.”Despite the skepticism he's received surrounding the truth around Camp Hero, Joe's conviction is unshakable. He's no eccentric recluse; he's a grounded former parks employee, a friend to locals, a man of integrity and conviction, and a father with strong bonds to his children. His discovery, with another employee, of remnants matching his hypnotic visions only fuels his resolve. “If I could dig, I'd find cement structures down there,” he's insisted while pointing to a spot he's certain holds answers. For those of you who have been listening and following along to this podcast featuring survivors of MK ULTRA, Montauk is a location many of you have heard time and time again. Some survivors still believe experimentation on children is still taking place there to this day underneath the ruins of what was once an operational military base. Today, we are going to find out and learn more pieces to the Camp Hero puzzle from a man whose personal experiences at Montauk - both as an unwitting child and as an adult employed by the park itself - are invaluable to the questions we all still have. Joe's story is a testament to resilience, a man confronting a past shrouded in mystery while safeguarding a place that draws Stranger Things fans and truth-seekers alike. Camp Hero, with its rusting 90-foot radar tower and abandoned bunkers, is Long Island's own Area 51 - a vortex of intrigue where history and conspiracy collide. And Joe stands at its heart, a guardian of its secrets, driven by a quest for truth and a refusal to let the shadows of his childhood define him. Believe it or not, there are actually rules when it comes to The Ledge's new release series. The main rule is simple – when there is a two part new release series the deadline for both shows is the start of the part one's Friday night broadcast. But rules don't really work in rock and roll, so every now and then I do have to make an important executive decision. That's what happens with this week's second part of the September new release series. I found out at the begining of the week that our good friend Pavid Vermin was putting out a new record, The Life of a Showgirl, and after he kindly provided me with this wonderful collection of pop-punk (the good kind of pop-punk) I just had to include a couple of tunes this week. (It helps that none of the tunes are over two minutes long.) The same could be said for another friend of the show, the power pop sounds of Detroit's The Needmores. But their email of their first EP, Side X Side, just barely missed the deadline. Close enough for me! Besides those fabulous new records, this week's episode includes a ton of […]

CUJO is a podcast about culture in the age of platforms. Episodes drop every other week, but if you want the full experience — including access to our CUJOPLEX Discord and our eternal parasocial friendship — we recommend signing up for a paid subscription.Paid subscribers also get access to The Weather Report, a new monthly episode series where we take stock of where the cultural winds are blowing and tell you what's rained into our brains. In the latest installment, cyberethnographer Ruby Justice Thelot joins us to wax philosophical about the Labubu craze, matcha and “performative male” discourse, and why politicians are lifting weights in public. To whet your appetite, we're lifting the paywall on the episode for the next 48 hours. It's easy to get the impression these days that the traditional media industry is abandoning cultural criticism. Over the past few months, outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Chicago Tribune have been reassigning or letting go of veteran film, music, and theater critics, leaving some to debate what impact, if any, written criticism still has on the culture at large. Bucking this trend (and pretty much all mainstream media logic) is The Metrograph, a new biannual print magazine about cinema from the eponymous repertory theater in New York City's Chinatown. It's long, proudly niche, intentionally disconnected from the news cycle, and available only in print—with the goal of offering deep film fans an experience they won't be able to find online, while inviting a new generation of people into the culture. The recently released second issue includes a 42-page dive into Paul Morrissey's archives, author Gary Indiana's favorite films (RIP), a history of the Japanese pink film, a “cinemap” of Belgrade, and a comic about Jerry Lewis's infamous lost film The Day the Clown Cried. The cover, which we've cropped for this episode's artwork, features a painting by artist Louise Giovanelli inspired by Christina Ricci's character in Buffalo '66.Senior editor Annabel Brady-Brown (formerly of Australia's Fireflies Press) and editor-at-large Nick Pinkerton (film critic, screenwriter of The Sweet East, creator of the Substack Employee Picks, and a former coworker of Emilie's at Kim's Video) join us to discuss the past, present, and future of independent film criticism—and what it means to make a magazine for cinephiles in 2025. We also discuss why younger people in NYC seem to be gravitating back to the movies these days, and how the hyper-IRL, videostore-centric independent film culture of 20 years ago is a good template for what that might look like in the 2020s. Finally, we shout out some of the directors, movies, and micro publications that are making right now such an exciting time for cinema in NYC — and the repertory theaters and video stores we love around the world that are keeping the old Kim's Video spirit alive.Issue 2 of The Metrograph is out now. Buy it here, or at an independent book or magazine store near you.Read more by our guests:”Less rock, more talk: On Paul Morrissey, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Ezra Pound, ‘political' art, and 1988's ‘Spike of Bensonhurst'” by Nick Pinkerton (Employee Picks) “Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows: On the subversive pleasures of Agnès Varda‘s Le Bonheur” by Annabel Brady-Brown (The Metrograph) This is a public episode. Why Paul Calvisi is considering meatless meatballs is anyone's guess, but he soon righted the ship with Darren Urban and Dani Sureck to chat about finishing the victory in the Big Easy, the Saints going up tempo but the Cards still playing solid defense, the Rabbit defense and all the dime looks, Will Johnson's fabulous debut, how the run game will impact the Panthers game on both sides of the ball (like last December), a new Wise Guy (Paul may have a chance …), the Kyler-to-MHJ connection trending up, Trey Benson getting caught from behind, what Bryce Young is doing, Dani gets the guys Cultured, and a look around the NFC West.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode 1: “New Season, New Speed!”We're BACK and louder than ever!
The Elephant in the Universe: 100-year search for dark matter Author: Govert Schilling Echoes of the Big Bang and Deep Underground Searches for WIMPs Headline: CMB Confirms Dark Matter and Energy; XENON Searches Remain Elusive The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), the oldest light in the universe from a few hundred thousand years after the Big Bang, provides crucial evidence for dark matter and dark energy. Analysis of its tiny temperature and density fluctuations precisely determines the universe's composition, independently confirming the need for both dark matter and dark energy even without other observations. Meanwhile, the direct hunt for WIMPs continues in deep underground laboratories like Gran Sasso in Italy, where massive, shielded experiments containing materials like liquid xenon aim to detect the exceedingly rare collisions of dark matter particles with atomic nuclei. These "xenon wars" have, to date, yielded "null results," intensifying the mystery. Only the DAMA experiment, using sodium iodide crystals, claims to have detected a seasonal dark matter effect, but its results remain unconfirmed by other teams. 1952

There's a secret, underground alien base in New Mexico. Visit https://themetaphysical.tv for uncensored After Hours episodes, exclusive content, and access to a library of 1,000+ mind-expanding videos on hidden history, forbidden knowledge, and otherworldly topics! A battle between humans and aliens waged within a secret bunker underground, leaving death and destruction on both sides. At least, that's according to a whistleblower named Phil Schneider, who came forward describing how he'd lost part of his hand in 1979. Amazingly, he got out and exposed the details of this Dulce firefight to the public. But perhaps he went too far—because some time later, he was found dead. Could Schneider have been telling the truth, or are his claims too strange to believe? How does this case tie into disinformation campaigns rampant in the ufology community today? In this episode of Metaphysical, dive into the details of what Schneider said, the nature of alien propaganda, Rob Counts' investigative research, and John Vivanco's remote viewing data. John was able to pinpoint what really happened and where missing people have disappeared to around Dulce. Then you can decide what parts of this story are actually true. If you thought the Roswell UFO crash was the most significant event to ever happen in the New Mexico desert, think again. Join Rob and John for a Metaphysical show that's out of this world. In this episode: details of an existing base underground in Dulce, New Mexico; the Dulce firefight; grey aliens, extraterrestrials, and UFOs; paranormal creature encounters; mysterious deaths and missing people cases; Phil Schneider and UFO whistleblowers; government secrets; energy weapons and secret wars; disinformation campaigns; alleged photos of aliens that came out; mysterious things that live inside caves; alien abductions; Valiant Thor; the history of alien propaganda; different kinds of aliens; the Men in Black; what's true and false about the Dulce firefight; and more! Correction: Phil Schneider appears to have given his presentation in 1995 and passed in 1996.
This week, we're bringing you an excerpt of the KQED podcast Close All Tabs, which features stories about how digital culture shapes our lives. Their new occasional series, OGs of Tech, looks beyond the billionaires to spotlight the often-overlooked innovators who helped build the digital world we live in today. One of these OGs is Felidoro Cueva, who grew up in a rural village in the Andes mountains of Peru, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1964, during the height of the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. He went on to become one of the first Latino engineers in Silicon Valley. His daughter – and Close All Tabs producer Maya Cueva – takes us through Feli's journey: from counterculture experimentation to the discrimination he faced in a startup world where Latino representation was nearly nonexistent. And we make another stop on our road trip series, Hidden Gems, which takes you to out-of-the-way spots across the state that aren't your typical tourist destinations. Today we dig into our archives and visit Volcano, in Amador County, and head 100 feet underground into the Black Chasm Cavern with KQED's Bianca Taylor. Learn more about your ad choices.
