Redemption Tempe Women Podcast
Today, we brought in Janet Arneson, homeschool mom of 4. For many of us, we are homeschooling either out of desire or necessity. Janet gives us some perspective on teaching and discipling our kids at home. She also gives us some great life hacks to make this a season of flourishing. And finally, a liturgy for Chromebooks.
Deana and Carrie take a look at John's life as an older, exile living on Patmos. We also talk through how at home church can be both good and worshipful.
Peace seems to be a spiritual unicorn-everyone wants to have it, but it seems difficult to find. Scattered within his questioning, doubt, and turmoil, Gideon proclaims, "The Lord is Peace." How can we declare Jesus as our peace regardless of the battles that surround us?
Deana Rogers, Caitlin Anderson, Susie Lackey, and Carrie Vaughn join Erin Amsden for a time of virtual GATHER. While we can't meet together for our typical GATHER event, this conversation and time of musical worship reminds us that God is shepherding us in the simple and the hard.
Kay shares with us several insights from her study of shepherds and sheep. We had a great discussion about the various ways a shepherd protects, cares for, and disciplines his sheep.
We travel with Ruth and Naomi as they Boaz, a figure of redemption. Also joining us is college student, Selah Vaughn. Growing up in China and going to university in America, she has an inside look into being a foreigner in two different countries. There was also a mention of Depression Era meatloaf. Join us as we understand the deeper meaning behind Haggo'el.
Understanding the Lord as our Banner (Nissi) is timely. Join Deana and Carrie as they talk about Aaron and Hur's obligation to Moses and how we are to support those on the front lines of COVID-19. We also talk through God's demonstration of faithfulness to the Israelites as they battle it out with the Amalekites.
Disruption, inadequacies, and control. In the midst of this quarantine, these are all things we've been confronted with. The three of us sit down to see how Moses and God tackle these fundamental human flaws. We see how God disrupted Moses through the burning bush and then, by revealing His name as YAHWEH.
Today we unearth the meaning of Jehovah Jireh with Erica Day. She spent over 7 years living and working in China and is now serving at ASU. Erica shares stories of taxi cab mishaps and how God has been a Jehovah Jireh in her own life. We also look at how this provision given to Abraham and Isaac is pulled forward in the gift of Jesus.
Holly Butler joins us to talk through Hagar's encounter with El Roi in the wilderness. The three of us wrestle with God asking us to enter back into hard places, but walking into it confident of El Roi-the God who sees.
This week we sit down with Susie Lackey and talk about El Shaddai. From packing up her life in Colorado and moving to Tempe to my crazy relationship with automated cars, we cover the gamut this week. We also dig into the various angles that make up the name, El Shaddai, through the understanding of a Rabbi from New Jersey. Thanks for coming!
We love launching each season with a Gather Event where we eat together, sing, reconnect with friends and meet new women who are joining an ID group to study with us. This podcast includes two excerpts from our evening together. Emma Tautolo interviewed Nicky Stevens, from HOPE, an organization that serves the homeless in our community. We are excited to partner with HOPE as our Outward Focus this season. Deana Rogers introduced our new study: The Names of God: To Know Him and Be Known. Enjoy!
Welcome back to our Spring Season of Around the Table. We are launching our new study this week about the Names of God and gather around our podcast table to talk about names and their meanings. As we discover the stories behind the names of God, our prayer is that we will encounter Jesus and know more deeply the presence of his Spirit in our lives.
This episode has two parts. We begin with an interview from our October Gather event with Erin Vucurevich and foster mom, Jen Hanson. Jen opens our eyes to the life of foster care and adoption, her family’s stories, and the way God and community are vital to caring for the vulnerable. Next, we hear from Kiersten Traina and Erin to take a deeper dive into the work of Foster Care, Kinship, and Adoption and how God is and internal part of every piece of that story.
We loved having Sandy Shrader join us at our October Gather Event to highlight our study of Hebrews 7&8. With both stories and a love of Scripture she helped us think more deeply about Jesus as the One Who Intercedes for Us.
Listen in as Deana and Caitlin talk about Hebrews 9 and 10: the connections between the Old Covenant and Jesus, and the way we engage our senses to remember our redemption.
Deana and Caitlin discuss some of the questions we are encountering in our ID groups as we dive into our study of Hebrews. Be encouraged ro persist in our study —the pieces are coming together! Listen in to their conversation about the spiritual practices they are practicing to grow their faith.
Hey Redemption Women -- our Fall 2019 season is underway and we are so glad you have chosen to join us as we study Hebrews together. Enjoy these excerpts from our September Gather Event.

We loved sitting around the table with Erin and are excited for you to hear her story. As a little girl she learned to love music and Jesus, and those two loves have shaped her life. God has made his presence very real in her life through music, community, and miracle answers to prayer. You are going to love this one!
We are back around the podcast table, this time with our friend Holly Pendleton. Holly has served on the R/Women lead team since September 2016. She shares her faith story in this episode and also what she has been learning about work, rest, and leaning into Sabbath.
We think you are going to love our conversation with Grace Joy as much as we did! Her upbringing in China, her love for Jesus, and the way she has connected with the women in her ID group, moved us toward Jesus as we sat around our podcast table. Pull up a chair for some great stories.
Did our Gather Event podcast about Listening prayer leave you wanting more of that conversation? If so, you are not alone! Holly joins us at the podcast table to talk further about meeting Jesus and how she is teaching her children to be attentive to his voice.
As we conclude our season on prayer and move into summer, we take a look back at what prayer practices and tools have shaped our faith and how we hope to continue to be changed through prayer.
We are familiar with speaking to God in prayer. But how often do we quiet our hearts and still our voices to listen to his? Holly Butler Led us in listening prayer exercises at our final Gather event of the season. Take time to hit pause as often as you’d like during this episode. We believe that God wants us to grow accustomed to his voice.
How does Scripture become more than black and white words on a page? Teena Dare and Marnie Goheen join us at the table today to discuss the way God “animates” Scripture when we take time to sit with his Word and ask him to reveal his truth.
Riccardo Stewart, lead pastor at Redemption Tempe, joins Caitlin and Lori to talk about prayer practices and specific ways to pray for the church. They answer your questions about prayer and Riccardo ends with a prayer story you won’t want to miss. We think you are going to love this one.

How is Lament different from just being sad? Can we find God in our Lament? Jamie joins us at the table to share her story of grief and the value of lament in healing.
We loved welcoming Susanne to the table today to hear her story of longing, whispers from God, and the miracle of parenthood. Like Hannah from the Bible God heard and answered the prayers of these believing moms.
Lori joins us at the podcast table to tell us about how keeping a Gratitude journal and becoming a joy-hunter made a difference in her life.
David taught us so much about Confession. His story, his authentic repentance, and ultimately his restored joy because of God’s mercy is a model for all of us.
Listen to our Spring Gathering as we launched our new study, Lord, Teach Us to Pray. You will also hear Holly’s interview with Liz where she introduces us to YoungLives.
We had more to share than what we could fit in our study journal so we decided to meet you here, around our podcast table. Join us for weekly interviews and conversations throughout our Spring season study, "Lord, Teach us to Pray."
