In this first-ever Art + Conversation podcast, Dr. Ghada Gherwash, the founder of the Colby linguistic justice group, will lead a roundtable discussion on the topic of linguistic justice with some of the founding members of the group. Since language is a prominent theme within the current exhibition, Miracles on the Border: Retablos of Mexican Migrants to the United States, this roundtable will explore how we can encourage a more respectful attitude toward diverse linguistic practices and traditions. Founding members of the linguistic justice group: Ghada Gherwash, PhD., Interim Director of the Farnham Writers’ Center and Multilingual Writing Specialist, Masi Ngidi-Brown, PhD., Director of International Student Programs and Associate Director of the Pugh Center, Sam Plasencia, PhD., Visiting Assistant Professor of English ** Nicki Chaput ‘22, Chioma Ezuma-Ngwu ‘22, Riley Kelfer ‘22, and Farnham Writers’ Center tutors **Members were not a part of the panel conversation.
