Until the mid 1980s programs presented news in a more objective manner. This stemmed from a Federal Regulation called the "Fairness Doctrine" which was repealed in 1987 & paved the way for the biased landscape we see today.    Also, news media has not been forced to comply with the Fair Packaging & Labeling Act of 1967. Should we demand regulations requiring more objectivity in News Media?  Can we demand that News be "Fairly Labeled"?  Don't Insult My Intelligence... Of course we can! 

In 1976 the Viking mission landed on Mars, added food to a soil sample & recorded the results as Martian microbes digested the food. Dr. Gil Levin designed the experiment & to this day shows how NASA refuses to acknowledge the discovery. DIMI NASA!

Watch out vegetarians...   Its time to get real about the so called "science" claiming that meat causes heart disease, cancer, and everything else under the sun.  Unfortunately there is no hard proof that the claims are true.  Most of the studies are outdated, seriously flawed, or just down right false.  The common theme is blaming meat for the bad foods that frequently accompany meat when eaten.  We get into all that and more on this podcast...  sure to be controversial and generate some back lash.  Don't Insult My Intelligence... Are natural disasters increasing? More people getting killed? Violent crime increasing? Are more people poor? The short answer. No Most every aspect of life is much better than it was 50 yrs ago & getting better every year. The facts are extremely clear on this. Why do people think things are worse? No. But around 70% of people think they are.  More Chimpanzees go the answer right than people.  LOL Link to Image   2. Are Hurricanes becoming more frequent?  Nope, we just hear about them more and more. Here is a link to some great data from the Hurricane Research Division of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. This is an interesting slide. It shows peoples perception of crime getting worse vs the actual stats. Interesting that the huge jump in the perception of crime increasing is in 2001...  Link to Image   4. 95% of people surveyed in the USA believe poverty is on the increase or is not getting better. Again Chimpanzees answer more correctly.  Link to Image   5. A common view point you probably hear quite a lot is the income gap. How there is no more middle class anymore... Not true. Most people in the world are in the middle. Yes a small group of people are extremely wealthy sure, but most people in the world are in the middle.      Link to Image 6. Another example of people's incorrect views. As you can see the majority of people surveyed believe only 20% of children in the world are vaccinated. Why are they so far off from the facts. Um.... Here is the link to a foam ball soaked in water and spun in the air.  This is supposed to prove that if the Earth was round and spinning that we would all fly off.   As we discuss in the podcast it this is not accurate because of relative speed, centrifugal force and gravity.
