My guest this week is Make-up and Hair Designer Claire Anne Williams. Claire left a career as a legal secretary to train at the Delamar Academy before being accepted onto a ScreenSkills traineeship where she worked on big-budget productions such as Solo: A Star Wars Story and Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil. After working on shorts, commercials and music promos, Claire received her first head of department credit working on Neil Maskell's Klokkenluider and recently worked as Make-Up and Hair Crowd Supervisor on The Kitchen, co-written and produced by Daniel Kaluuya. In 2021 Claire was recognised as a ScreenDaily Star of Tomorrow and she is represented by Lucy Price at Loop Talent.  We talk about quitting a satisfying career to pursue her dreams, the hardships of being a trainee later in life, the benefits of having an agent, how she creates a sanctuary for actors, as well as going into the craft of creating things like sweat and wounds and keeping spray tan consistent across weeks of shooting.  Claire was a really fun interviewee and it was great to expand my own understanding of how myriad make-up designing can be. It's not just about eyeliner and lipstick.  This episode 114 of Best Girl Grip.

The "Secrets" theme can be easy to miss, but not in minutes 101-105 of Solo: A Star Wars Story! Obi-Wan Kenobi is an American television miniseries created for the streaming service Disney+. It is part of the Star Wars franchise and stars Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, reprising his role from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Set ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), the series follows Kenobi as he sets out to rescue the kidnapped Princess Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) from the Galactic Empire, leading to a confrontation with his former apprentice, Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen). The project originated as a spin-off film written by Hossein Amini and directed by Stephen Daldry, but it was reworked as a limited series following the commercial failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). McGregor was confirmed to be starring in August 2019, and Deborah Chow was hired to direct a month later. Production was scheduled to begin in July 2020, but the series was put on hold in January 2020 because Lucasfilm was unsatisfied with the scripts. Joby Harold was hired to rewrite the series and serve as showrunner in April 2020, executive producing with Chow, McGregor, Kathleen Kennedy, and Michelle Rejwan. Additional casting took place in March 2021, with co-stars such as Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Jimmy Smits, James Earl Jones, and Christensen reprising their prequel trilogy roles. Filming began by May 2021 in Los Angeles, using StageCraft video wall technology, and wrapped by September. Natalie Holt composed the score, while Star Wars film composer John Williams wrote the main theme. # The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi premiered on May 27, 2022. The subsequent four episodes were released weekly until June 22. The series received positive reviews; critics praised the action sequences, McGregor and Christensen's performances and Chow's direction, but some criticized the writing. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/popcorn-junkies/message

Ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005)—in which the Jedi were destroyed by Order 66 and Obi-Wan Kenobi's apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, became the Sith Lord Darth Vader—Kenobi is in hiding on the planet Tatooine, watching over Anakin's son Luke, when he is called on a mission to rescue Anakin's daughter, Leia, after she is kidnapped by the Galactic Empire's Jedi-hunting Inquisitors in a plot to draw Kenobi out. This leads to a confrontation between Kenobi and Vader. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi watches over young Luke Skywalker and evades the Empire's elite Jedi hunters during his exile on the desert planet Tatooine. Part I When agents of the Empire pose a new threat, Obi-Wan Kenobi emerges after years of hiding. Part II On a dangerous crime-ridden world, Obi-Wan becomes a target. Obi-Wan Kenobi is an American television miniseries created for the streaming service Disney+. It is part of the Star Wars franchise and stars Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, reprising his role from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Set ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), the series follows Kenobi as he sets out to rescue the kidnapped Princess Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) from the Galactic Empire, leading to a confrontation with his former apprentice Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen). The project originated as a spin-off film written by Hossein Amini and directed by Stephen Daldry, but it was reworked as a limited series by Amini following the commercial failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Buckle up, Pixie Dusters because there is a disturbance in the force... Ashley, Sammi, and Dan are chatting about Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is the first Disney movie in this series, and the first Star Wars production to cause some true disagreements among your favorite hosts. Ashley has warmed up to the film, but she still isn't a huge fan - probably because Harrison Ford wasn't in it. This movie has caused a lot of debate in the Star Wars community, so it's no surprise that today you'll hear a lot of discussion about its merits and things that could have been done better.  What do you think? Ever wonder what it was like for Han Solo before he became General Solo, the hero of the Rebellion? Well, wonder no more because in Solo: A Star Wars Story, every minutia of his origins will be explored. We go on an adventure through the Star Wars galaxy's criminal underworld. Robbing stuff, boosting cars, a flippant lack of concern for the safety of others, and even falling for the woman who's no good for you. Or is she? Yes, it's that kind of story, fun and maybe a little overstuffed.  On this month's Bad Movie Night, we hit hyperspace and take a look back at Solo: A Star Wars Story, and debate if it ultimately deserved better than the initial response that it received. Especially, did it deserve to be the film that completely disrupted the Star Wars universe?  To subscribe or for more info on The Hollywood Outsider visit https://www.thehollywoodoutsider.com/ Access to ALL Bad Movie Night episodes: https://www.patreon.com/thehollywoodoutsider Twitter: @BuyPopcorn Reach out to Bad Movie Night at BadMovieNight@TheHollywoodOutsider.com Facebook and Instagram are @thehollywoodoutsider The Hollywood Outsider Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/hollywoodoutsider   Where to find The Hollywood Outsider Hosts on Twitter: Aaron:                  @AaronSmirks John:                    @RjohnDraws Amanda:              @SinkIntoThis Troy:                     @TroyHeinritz
