Shot of Nostalgia: The SmackDown Six Era rolls on with your host Acefield Retro, and this week we're diving into one of the most transformative stretches of the entire project. Episode 6: The New Standard covers August through December 2003 — the moment when SmackDown didn't just outperform Raw, it redefined what WWE television could be. The original SmackDown Six formula sharpens into something faster, more ambitious, and more confident, and the blue brand starts carrying itself like the true flagship. We open with the match that shattered expectations for what a TV main event could look like: the 60-minute Iron Man Match between Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle on September 18, 2003. With no September PPV, WWE hands them an entire hour on network TV, and they deliver a masterpiece of strategy, pacing, and physical storytelling. Lesnar wrestles like a cold, calculating monster, even sacrificing a fall early to inflict damage he cashes in later, while Angle brings textbook precision and furious comebacks. It's chaotic, logical, brutal, and brilliant. Brock's 5–4 win establishes him as SmackDown's apex predator and cements the match as one of the greatest in TV wrestling history. From there, we hit the Parking Lot Brawl between Eddie Guerrero and John Cena on August 28, and this week's episode is paired with a full Shot of Nostalgia watch-along of that match. Eddie weaponizes an entire parking lot with the same creativity he brings to a wrestling ring — seatbelts, hoods, roofs, doors — while Cena bumps and sells like a young star fighting to earn his stripes. Eddie bleeds, Cena crashes through a windshield, and the Frog Splash off one car onto another remains one of the defining images of the Guerrero legacy. It's gritty, stylish, violent, pure SmackDown identity — and being able to watch it back together in real time adds a whole new layer to how we talk about its impact. We also revisit Rey Mysterio vs. Tajiri from No Mercy 2003, a match that captures exactly why SmackDown's in-ring output was blowing Raw out of the water. Tajiri's heel turn, complete with red and black mist plus the arrival of Akio and Sakoda, gives the Cruiserweight division the villain it had been missing. Rey brings the explosiveness, Tajiri brings the strikes and swagger, and together they deliver a crisp, high-velocity title match that resets the entire division going into 2004. The rest of this episode is about how the entire brand evolves beneath the surface. Injuries pile up, Heyman's creative voice gets quieter, Goldberg's Raw run exposes WWE's stylistic confusion, and Evolution stumbles behind the scenes. Yet SmackDown stays true to itself — athletic realism, character-driven drama, and a match quality that feels years ahead of the WWE main-event formula. Even as the original SmackDown Six pairings splinter and reform in new combinations, their philosophy — built by Eddie, Edge, Benoit, Angle, Rey, and Chavo — pulses through every show. By December 2003, SmackDown isn't the "other" brand anymore. SmackDown is the new standard. Diagnosed recently with both ADHD and autism within the past two years, Cat Orsini's candid storytelling takes us on a journey from feeling like an outsider as a child to building a thriving business based on authentic relationships, automation with heart, and radical self-acceptance. In this interview, Cat reveals her unique approach to business—one that centers curiosity, genuine connection, and meeting people where they are (with a little tech magic to make life easier and more fun). You'll hear not just the triumphs, but also the complex, sometimes messy moments of “unmasking” and designing a business that fits your actual brain and values, not someone else's idea of success.Meet our Guest: Cat OrsiniCat Orsini has an MBA, is a master-certified coach, an entrepreneur, and co-author of the book "Experts Never Chase." She specializes in relationship marketing, strategic conversations, and building automated systems that allow her—and her clients—to focus on human connection over busywork. Through radical acceptance of her neurodivergence and trauma history, Cat has crafted a career and life that honors her strengths and refuses to squeeze herself into a neurotypical mold.Episode HighlightsStrategic Relationship Marketing vs. AutomationCat breaks down why automation and relationship-building aren't mutually exclusive—and how smart systems can let neurodivergent business owners focus on authentic, meaningful connections.Attract, Don't ChaseMove over “hustle culture.” Cat and Diann discuss how building genuine relationships and letting people self-select nurtures business without the creepiness or pressure of hard selling.Neurodivergent Thriving in BusinessHow Cat's ADHD and autism traits fuel her ability to notice patterns, create unique solutions, and support her clients in efficiently reaching their goals.Radical Self-AcceptanceCat shares her journey from masking and trauma in corporate environments to embracing her differences and demanding work that fits her—not the other way around.Automating the Human TouchLearn how emails, follow-ups, and event workflows can be automated, freeing up energy for one-on-one connections with those who are ready for deeper engagement. The Power of Knowing YourselfDiscussion around building business systems that honor your strengths and limitations, rather than struggling to “strengthen your weaknesses” and dilute what makes you unique.Ethical Reciprocity & Non-Bro MarketingCat outlines how heart-centered reciprocity builds lasting relationships and why neurotypical tactics often miss the mark for neurodivergent individuals.A New Standard for Neurodivergent EntrepreneursThe episode closes with hard-won wisdom: Radical self-acceptance and intentional business design are powerful antidotes to burnout—and Cat's story is proof.Links & Resources:Connect with Cat on LinkedInLearn more about Cat Orsini and her workThe Book Cat Co-Authored with - Experts Never ChaseKnow someone who identifies with ADHD + Autism (officially diagnosed or not…)? The amount of double standards held by both political parties in the United States is shocking. When a government shutdown triggered flight cuts the blame was placed on the Democrat party. When the same thing happened under that party and Biden, they projected the blame on airlines and Republicans. But there are some even better examples. Trump's administration is pushing student loan forgiveness and importation of over half a million Chinese students. Under Biden these things were considered absurd and illegal, but under Trump anger has subsided. Just as Biden received cue cards for basic human behavior, so has Trump. Just as Biden's health issues were covered up, Trump's are being covered up too. Just as Biden auto-signed executive orders, Trump is rubber stamping whatever is placed in front of him. And just as half naked people pranced through the White House lawn for LGBTQ, Trump hosted a party with half naked women to celebrate Halloween. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. In this episode of Crazy Wisdom, host Stewart Alsop sits down with Harry McKay Roper, founder of Imaginary Space, for a wide-ranging conversation on space mining, AI-driven software, crypto's incorruptible potential, and the raw entrepreneurial energy coming out of Argentina. They explore how technologies like Anthropic's Claude 4.5, programmable crypto protocols, and autonomous agents are reshaping economics, coding, and even law. Harry also shares his experiences building in Buenos Aires and why hunger and resilience define the city's creative spirit. You can find Harry online at YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram under @HarryMcKayRoper.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversationTimestamps00:00 – Stewart Alsop welcomes Harry McKay Roper from Imaginary Space and they jump straight into space mining, Helium-3, and asteroid gold. 05:00 – They explore how Bitcoin could hold value when space mining floods markets and discuss China, America, and global geopolitics. 10:00 – Conversation shifts to Argentina, its economic scars, cultural resilience, and overrepresentation in startups and crypto. 15:00 – Harry reflects on living in Buenos Aires, poverty, and the city's constant hustle and creative movement. 20:00 – The focus turns to AI, Claude 4.5, and the rise of autonomous droids and software-building agents. 25:00 – They discuss the collapse of SaaS, internal tools, and Harry's experiments with AI-generated code and new workflows. 30:00 – Stewart compares China's industry to America's software economy, and Harry points to AI, crypto, and space as frontier markets. 35:00 – Talk moves to crypto regulation, uncorruptible judges, and blockchain systems like Kleros. 40:00 – They debate AI consciousness, embodiment, and whether a robot could meditate. 45:00 – The episode closes with thoughts on free will, universal verifiers, and a playful prediction market bet on autonomous software.Key InsightsSpace and Economics Are Colliding – Harry McKay Roper opens with the idea that space mining will fundamentally reshape Earth's economy. The discovery of asteroids rich in gold and other minerals highlights how our notions of scarcity could collapse once space resources become accessible, potentially destroying the terrestrial gold economy and forcing humanity to redefine value itself.Bitcoin as the New Standard of Value – The conversation naturally ties this to Bitcoin's finite nature. Stewart Alsop and Harry discuss how the flood of extraterrestrial gold could render traditional stores of value meaningless, while Bitcoin's coded scarcity could make it the only incorruptible measure of worth in a future of infinite resources.China and the U.S. in Industrial Tug-of-War – They unpack the geopolitical tension between China's industrial dominance and America's financial hegemony. Harry argues the U.S. is waking up from decades of outsourcing, driven by China's speed in robotics and infrastructure. This dynamic competition, he says, is good—it forces America to build again.Argentina's Culture of Hunger and Resilience – Living in Buenos Aires reshaped Harry's understanding of ambition. He contrasts Argentina's hunger to survive and create with the complacency of wealthier nations, calling the Argentine spirit one of “movement.” Despite poverty, the city's creative drive and humor make it a living example of resilience in scarcity.AI Is Making Custom Software Instant – Harry describes how Claude 4.5 and new AI coding tools like Lovable, Cursor, and GPT Engineer make building internal tools trivial. Instead of using SaaS products, companies can now generate bespoke software in minutes with natural language, signaling the end of traditional software development cycles.Crypto and AI Will Merge Into Incorruptible Systems – Harry envisions AI agents on-chain acting as unbiased judges or administrators, removing human corruption from law and governance. Real-world tools like Kleros, founded by an Argentine, already hint at this coming era of algorithmic justice and decentralized decision-making.Consciousness and the Limits of AI – The episode closes on a philosophical note: can a robot meditate or clear its mind? Stewart and Harry question whether AI could ever experience consciousness or free will, suggesting that while AI may mimic thought, the uniquely subjective and embodied nature of human awareness remains beyond automation—for now.

In this episode, we are discussing the process of setting a new standard for yourself. Most people look for the outside world to change before deciding to hold themselves to a new standard... When that person changes, when this situation changes, when I have more time, more money, etc. then I'll start moving and acting differently. What they don't understand is that the situation is actually a direct reflection of the standard that they've been accepting. In this episode, we're turning this old paradigm on it's head and walking you through the new process of deciding and moving from this new identity before the outside world catches up! 1:1 Mindset & Performance Mentorship Calls: If you would like to book a session to move forward in the area discussed in this show or any other areas of your life, visit link below for further resources or booking schedule https://hoo.be/patmahan CONNECT WITH ME ON: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/likeattractslike11 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/patmahan_ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRDc1pT4/
Being excellent is no longer enough. Visibility takes courage. In this solo episode of Leading You, I unpack a conversation I hear far too often:“I’m brilliant at what I do… so why am I invisible?” Flawless execution won’t get you promoted. Long hours and loyalty won’t make you unmissable. And burnout isn’t always a result of doing too much - it’s often a sign of overfunctioning and “pushing too hard”. I share a raw story from my own corporate career - a moment where, despite being the go-to, high-performing support for a senior leader, I was passed over for a promotion. Not because of lack of skill. But because I’d positioned myself as the support act, not the star. This episode is a wake-up call for high-performing women who’ve been quietly waiting to be noticed. Because in today’s leadership landscape, recognition doesn’t come from hard work alone. It comes from positioning, visibility, and the courage to own your edge. In this episode, we cover: Why being excellent isn’t the same as being visible How to recognise when you’re blending in - and what it’s costing you The trap of over-functioning and waiting to be chosen Why positioning and courage matter more than flawless delivery How to shift from being the option to being the standard A powerful call to own your story, voice, and leadership identit Actions & Reflection Prompts: Where are you still blending in — and what would it look like to stand out? Stop waiting for permission to use your voice. Speak now. Anchor yourself with a personal “Who I Am” statement — not a résumé. Ask: Am I positioning myself as a leader, or someone who supports one? This week, we dig into the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit's new Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) collective action notice standard, the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL's) relaunched Payroll Audit Independent Determination (PAID) program, and the DOL's scaled-back approach to wage and hour investigation penalties. Seventh Circuit's New Standard for FLSA Notice The Seventh Circuit has introduced the Richards framework, a middle-ground standard for FLSA collective actions. This decision deepens the circuit split over notices to potential plaintiffs and could lead to Supreme Court involvement. Learn how this could impact your compliance strategies. DOL Relaunches PAID Program The DOL has relaunched the PAID program, letting employers self-report FLSA violations to avoid litigation or liquidated damages. The program now covers select Family and Medical Leave Act corrections. Discover how this voluntary option supports compliance. Wage and Hour Investigation Penalties Scaled Back A new DOL directive reduces penalties during wage and hour audits. Liquidated damages won't apply in pre-litigation investigations but may still be pursued in litigation. Dan Wensley outlines GTIA's bold vision for a member-driven, globally connected IT channel “We're here to support and help the IT channel grow... and provide a level playing field community.” — Dan Wensley, GTIA In a milestone interview recorded live at the inaugural GTIA ChannelCon 2025, Dan Wensley, CEO of the Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA), joined Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News, to discuss the organization's renewed mission, global scope, and member-first model. Wensley shared that GTIA emerged from the historic CompTIA organization after the divestiture of its training and certification business. What remains is a sharpened focus on the channel—vendors, distributors, ITSPs, MSPs, and professionals—built around community, education, advocacy, and advancement. “This is a new brand, a new image, and a new vision,” said Wensley. “We're not here to sell certifications—we're here to serve the channel.” GTIA's newly structured events, like ChannelCon, offer equal opportunity to all participants regardless of company size. “This is not pay to play,” Wensley emphasized. “Every exhibitor gets the same booth, and every member pays virtually the same amount to participate.” The 2025 conference featured AI and cybersecurity content, but Wensley was deliberate in ensuring AI wasn't allowed to dominate every conversation. “Our members told us they still have businesses to run, so our programming reflects that.” GTIA's global ambition is more than just a name. With members in over 150 countries and expanding regional communities, GTIA is becoming a global hub for thought leadership, networking, and shared best practices. With events already planned for Indonesia, Australia, and a return to the UK, the association is scaling its reach alongside its renewed mission. Wensley closed with a call to action: “If you're in the IT services industry, join us. Let's grow this channel together.” To learn more or become a member, visit gtia.org.

Send us a textIron deficiency affects as many as 40% of women of reproductive age, yet the problem often goes undetected—even when patients have symptoms and complications. On this episode, Dr. Blair Bigham and Dr. Mojola Omole speak with hematologists Dr. Michelle Scholzberg and Dr. Rita Selby about their structural solution to this pervasive problem: a province-wide change to how laboratories flag ferritin results. Their article, “Diagnosis and management of iron deficiency in females”, is published in CMAJ.Dr. Michelle Scholzberg, a hematologist and clinician scientist at St. Michael's Hospital and division director of Hematology at the University of Toronto, explains why iron deficiency without anemia is clinically important, how flawed reference standards and stigma around menstruation have contributed to underdiagnosis, why screening based on hemoglobin alone misses many patients and how structural barriers within medicine have long impeded timely detection and treatment. She outlines the evidence that drove a change to the clinical decision threshold for ferritin in Ontario laboratories and describes the movement that led to the changeDr. Rita Selby, an academic hematologist and medical director of the Ontario Laboratory Medicine Program at Ontario Health, describes how change was implemented across Ontario's major private labs. She clarifies the distinction between reference ranges and clinical decision limits, and how the shift helps clinicians identify subclinical iron deficiency earlier. She also discusses anticipated challenges, such as increased demand for treatment and the need for accessible knowledge translation tools. This episode exemplifies how making structural change in Canadian medicine can be difficult, but is possible with grassroots advocacy and inter-institutional collaboration. For more information from our sponsor, go to MedicusPensionPlan.comJoin us as we explore medical solutions that address the urgent need to change healthcare. Customer Care's Evolution From Cost Center to Profit Center Shep interviews Sowmyanarayan Sampath (known simply as Sampath), Chief Executive Officer of Verizon Consumer Group. He discusses why he publicly shares his email address and what Verizon is doing to become number one in customer satisfaction by truly putting the customer first. This episode of Amazing Business Radio with Shep Hyken answers the following questions and more: How can you turn your call center from a cost center to a profit center? Why should companies invest in improving customer experience? How can organizations use customer feedback to enhance their products and services? Why is it important for leadership to be accessible to customers when addressing service issues? How can proactive customer service resolve complex issues more efficiently? Top Takeaways: Feedback is a gift. Every complaint is an opportunity to learn what went wrong and how to do better. Whether it's reading emails, analyzing phone calls, or collecting feedback, listening to the customer is a powerful way to enhance any service or product. Spending money on customer experience may sound expensive, but it can save money and create loyalty over time. By fixing problems quickly and making interactions easier, customers don't have to waste time with lengthy calls and repeating themselves. Happy and satisfied customers tend to stick around longer and often attract friends and family. First contact resolution is always the main goal. However, some problems need more time and coordination with different departments to resolve. That's why having a "customer champion" inside the customer support department who takes ownership and proactively follows through until an issue is resolved makes a difference to customers. Being "customer first" means making sure every channel, whether it's digital, in-person, or on the phone, works seamlessly. Not everyone wants to call, and not everyone wants to use a website or app, so giving customers a choice is essential. When people can choose what's easiest for them and have a great experience every time, it contributes to creating a flawless experience. AI, automation, and technology can make things easier and faster for both customers and employees. If used correctly, technology provides employees with the most accurate and complete information available, enabling them to answer customer questions quickly. Retail isn't dead. It's just become impersonal for many customers. However, if you create a store experience that's good, local, and personalized, people will come to your store. When you make your store about real, personal connections in the community, you give people a reason to want that face-to-face experience again. Plus, Sampath shares why Verizon is shifting its internal metrics from traditional contact center measurements (such as average handle time) to metrics that truly matter to customers and the business in the long term. Quote: "When a customer reaches out to us, they don't reach out to say how great we are doing. They reach out because someone or something along the process did not live up to their standards or ours, whichever is higher." About: Sowmyanarayan Sampath is the CEO of Verizon Consumer, overseeing a customer base that's the largest in the U.S., generating over $103 billion in annual revenue. Rachel Maddow reviews the many ways in which Donald Trump has made history with the first 100 days of his second term, though none of these achievements are anything to be proud of, and Americans are growing increasingly vocal about their displeasure.
