Dropping Excess Baggage Judges 7:1-8 Gideon had 32, 000 people to help him fight a battle. But when God looked at the people he saw that Gideon could only use 300 people. The rest where just excess baggage. Gideon was spending resources on areas or people that had no essence. I wonder who is around that is not qualified. 22, 000 men wear afraid and so God dropped them 9700 men also let go by God with reference to their alertness(How they drunk water). 300 men were chosen by God to fight and win. God is waiting to drop certain people before you can have a victory. Drop the attitude, drop the excuses etc. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ps-mark-korley/support

Hebrews 10:23-25 New International Version (NIV) 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. The question, “Does the church really matter?” is a critical one. In my conversation with people who have stopped going to church, I came across some intresting reasons why some do not go to church. These include: • Some said their relationship with Christ is private and therefore you don’t really need the church and the community it provides. There are any number of reasons people give for this, including: 1. Christians are a bunch of hypocrites 2. I’ve been hurt by leaders / others in the church 3. Church doesn’t care about the things I care about 4. Too political / judgmental It is important to note that being part of a Church Community is important. The God we follow also examplified this fact Let us look very nature of God. Genesis 1:26-27 - “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” • It is important you note that there has never been a time when God did not exist as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God has always had a relationship each component of himself. 2 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” D.A. Carson in his book, Love in Hard Places, wrote: ! “The church is…made up of natural enemies. What binds us together is not common education, common race, common income levels, common politics, common nationality, common accents, common jobs, or anything else of that sort. Christians come together…because they have all been saved by Jesus Christ and owe him a common allegiance…They are a band of natural enemies who love one another for the sake of Christ.” Does the church really matter? · I can’t say it any better than Tim Keller: “You can’t know God, change deeply, or change the world apart from community.” · It matters so much that Christ laid down his life for it. · The church community is a way to see Christ in others · The church community is a source of accountability and guidance · The church community is a place to serve · The church community is a place to prepare to witness to the world I encourage you to continue to pray and exercise common sense in relation to this covid-19. Use your face mask, sanitize your hands and wash your hands. When church opens up, join your location congregation worship God. psmarkkorley@gmail.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/ps-mark-korley/support
