Primary Day in Maryland. The federal government has issued new rules for work requirements for Medicaid enrollees and thrown states in another tizzy. Maryland's Office of People's Counsel is asking the state's public service commission to reject all but $15 million out of Pepco's $120 million rate increase proposal. And as we begin summer, we have a reminder about Maryland's lists of noxious weeds and invasive plants. And more. Music from Seth Kibel's brand new album, Clarinet Without A Net.
Brother Cole speaks on the unchanging nature of God's counsel and faithfulness, emphasizing how God's constancy provides comfort and assurance in a constantly changing world.

Send us Fan MailDr. Muthu Alagappan is the Founder and CEO of Counsel Health, the company automating access to high-quality, personalized medical advice from doctors. Counsel recently closed a $25M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz and Google Ventures, following an $11M seed round that included A16Z, Asymmetric Capital Partners, Floodgate Fund, and Pear VC.He holds an MD from Stanford Medicine and a B.S. in Biomechanical Engineering from Stanford, and was among the earliest AI researchers to publish on clinical applications of machine intelligence. In this episode, Muthu draws on 15 years at the intersection of AI research and frontline clinical medicine to explore the shift toward semi-autonomous care.In this conversation, we discuss:How AI addresses the limitations of traditional primary care by offering a highly personalized, knowledgeable, and always available medical experience. Why patients might leapfrog clinicians in their willingness to adopt AI for medical advice, and how this shift challenges the traditional identity of physicians. What semi-autonomous care actually looks like in practice, and how Counsel Health uses a clinician cockpit to augment human compassion with real-time machine intelligence. How to leverage population-level patterns without compromising patient privacy. Why the double standard applied to AI is misplaced, and why Muthu argues we should hold AI to a much higher benchmark than human doctors simply. What the future of global healthcare could look like when cognitive medical expertise is fully democratized, ensuring that a patient's zip code no longer dictates the quality of care they receive.Explore the Conversation00:00 Intro & AI Fun Fact: Big Data Limitations and Bias in Clinical AI03:52 Meet Dr. Muthu Alagappan: From Stanford AI Researcher to Counsel Health CEO06:51 Why Primary Care Falls Short: The Case for AI-Augmented Medicine09:05 Human Doctors Are Human: How Patients Are Adopting AI Medical Advice12:20 Patient Privacy and Population Health: Learning Without Training on Data14:17 Inside the Clinician Cockpit: Real-Time AI Support for Doctors16:17 Why Counsel Health Employs Its Own Physicians: Messaging-Based Care19:00 From Semi-Autonomous to Fully Autonomous Care: Healthcare's Next Era24:19 AI Ethics in Medicine: Safety Standards, Model Values, and Data Ownership27:22 The AI Double Standard: Why Machines Deserve a Higher Benchmark Than Doctors31:07 Founder Lessons: Building a Category-Defining Healthcare AI Company33:53 Rewriting the Commencement Address: Medicine as Lifelong Learning35:37 Where to Connect with Dr. Muthu Alagappan and Counsel HealthResourcesSubscribe to the AI & The Future of Work NewsletterConnect with Muthu on LinkedInAI fun fact article: Artificial Intelligence in Health Care: The Ethical Frontier via ConexiantOn the future of AI, Silicon Valley and Venture Capital LIVE EVENT: See how leading enterprises are using agentic AI to give employees back 4–6 productive hours every week. A new MP3 sermon from Founders Baptist Church is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: A Father's Counsel Worth Hearing Subtitle: Non Series - Proverbs Speaker: Richard Caldwell Jr. Broadcaster: Founders Baptist Church Event: Sunday - AM Date: 6/21/2026 Bible: Proverbs 6:20-35 Length: 60 min.
Discover the true marks of biblical fatherhood in "A Father's Counsel Worth Hearing" as Pastor Richard Caldwell teaches from Proverbs 6. Every father is a teacher by virtue of his position in the home. However, not every father provides instruction that is spiritually sound and rooted in the absolute authority of Scripture. In this expository preaching session from Proverbs 6, we examine what makes a father's instruction truly valuable for his children. A godly father has internalized the Word of God and actively guides his children to love divine revelation. He walks in unison with his wife, demonstrating a complementarian model of marriage that honors Jesus Christ. By remaining devoted solely to his wife, he sets a vital example of marital fidelity that protects his children from the devastating trap of immorality. Ultimately, the most precious gift a father can leave his family is a deep trust in the sufficiency of Scripture. Even when a father cannot be present, the truth of God will continue to protect and guide his children. For those who have failed, the gospel offers profound mercy and the grace of a new creation in Christ. Key Biblical Takeaways: - Internalize the Word of God so that your parental instruction aligns perfectly with divine law and rescues your children from deception. - Cultivate a unified marriage where father and mother share the spiritual rearing of their children in obedience to Christ. - Model strict marital loyalty and flee from sexual sin to provide your children with a credible example of godliness. - Rely wholly on the absolute sufficiency of received biblical truth to guide your children when you are no longer present.

1 Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. 2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life. 3 It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling. 4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing. 5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. 6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man? 7 A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him. 8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes. 9 Who can say, “I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?” 10 Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh. 11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right. 12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Yahweh has made even both of them. 13 Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread. 14 “It's no good, it's no good,” says the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasts. 15 There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel. 16 Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman. 17 Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel. 18 Plans are established by advice; by wise guidance you wage war! 19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips. 20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness. 21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning won't be blessed in the end. 22 Don't say, “I will pay back evil.” Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you. 23 Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing. 24 A man's steps are from Yahweh; how then can man understand his way? 25 It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows. 26 A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them. 27 The spirit of man is Yahweh's lamp, searching all his innermost parts. 28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love. 29 The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair. 30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts. Leaders are constantly presented with opportunities, expectations, and decisions—but not every open door is an assignment. In this episode of the Global Leadership Podcast, GLN President and CEO David Ashcraft talks with Priscilla Shirer about how leaders discern what is truly theirs to carry. Priscilla shares practical wisdom on calling, wise counsel, humility, accountability, and learning to say yes or no from a place of clarity rather than fear or guilt. She also reflects on how leaders can protect their families, carry public attention lightly, and create "green space" for rest, responsiveness, and deeper awareness of God's work. For leaders navigating full calendars, growing influence, or the pressure to keep saying yes, this conversation offers a grounded reminder: faithful leadership requires both courage and discernment.

Ecclesiastes 10 warns that even small acts of foolishness can have devastating consequences, while wisdom quietly protects every area of life. Solomon encourages us to guard our words, sharpen our skills, stay humble, lead responsibly, and handle problems with patience rather than panic. By inviting God's wisdom into our daily decisions, we can avoid unnecessary regret and live with greater faithfulness and purpose.

For decades, history has shaped the Middle East. Today, competing narratives are shaping how the world understands it.In Episode 484 of The Andrew Parker Show, Andrew welcomes back Steve Hunegs, Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, for a wide-ranging discussion on Israel, antisemitism, democracy, and the growing challenge of disinformation.Drawing from historical documents, newspaper headlines, and firsthand research, Hunegs examines the events surrounding Israel's founding in 1948, the United Nations partition plan, the Arab-Israeli war, and how many of the narratives dominating today's headlines echo misconceptions that have persisted for generations.Andrew and Steve also discuss the aftermath of October 7, the rise of antisemitism across the political spectrum, the influence of social media on public discourse, Iran and its regional proxies, the future of Israel's security, and why preserving historical truth is essential to the survival of democratic societies. This thoughtful and timely conversation explores the difference between fact and fiction, the importance of historical memory, and the responsibility we all share in defending truth in the public square.Support the showThe Andrew Parker Show - Politics, Israel & The Law. Wontumi–Samreboi Case: I am withdrawing from the case as counsel. I have informed my client, Chairman Wontumi, and the court. My reasons will be made known in court, but I believe there are too many unseen influences surrounding the case. I also find the judge's conduct throughout the proceedings unacceptable. — Andy Appiah-Kubi, Counsel for Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
Fr. Mike explains why it's better to seek counsel from those who don't necessarily always agree with us, using the experience of Rehobo′am as an example. He also touches on the failed leadership of Jerobo′am as he leads his people into false places of worship and idolatry. Today's readings are 1 Kings 12, 2 Chronicles 10-11, and Song of Solomon 1. ACTS 1:12-26 - THE APOSTLES - BRIAN SUMNER - 2026"Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey. 13 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.Matthias Chosen15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said, 16 “Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; 17 for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry.”18 (Now this man purchased a field with the [g]wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. 19 And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.)20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms:‘Let his dwelling place be desolate,And let no one live in it';and,‘Let another take his office.'21 “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”23 And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. 24 And they prayed and said, “You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen 25 to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.” 26 And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles."To support this channel and partner with Brian in Ministryhttps://www.briansumner.net/support/For more on Brianhttp://www.briansumner.nethttps://www.instagram.com/BRIANSUMNER/https://www.facebook.com/BRIANSUMNEROFFICIALTo listen to Brians Podcast, click below.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Purchase Brians Marriage book at https://www.amazon.com/Never-Fails-Da...Brian is a full time "Urban Missionary" both locally and internationally with a focus on MISSIONS - MARRIAGES - MINISTRY. ACTS 2:1:17 - FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT - BRIAN SUMNER - 2026"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. The Crowd's Response5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”Peter's Sermon14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams.”To support this channel and partner with Brian in Ministryhttps://www.briansumner.net/support/For more on Brianhttp://www.briansumner.nethttps://www.instagram.com/BRIANSUMNER/https://www.facebook.com/BRIANSUMNEROFFICIALTo listen to Brians Podcast, click below.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Purchase Brians Marriage book at https://www.amazon.com/Never-Fails-Da...Brian is a full time "Urban Missionary" both locally and internationally with a focus on MISSIONS - MARRIAGES - MINISTRY. 1 Doesn't wisdom cry out? Doesn't understanding raise her voice? 2 On the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands. 3 Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud: 4 “I call to you men! I send my voice to the sons of mankind. 5 You simple, understand prudence! You fools, be of an understanding heart! 6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things. 7 For my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them. 9 They are all plain to him who understands, right to those who find knowledge. 10 Receive my instruction rather than silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. 11 For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can't be compared to it. 12 “I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion. 13 The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth. 14 Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power. 15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. 16 By me princes rule, nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth. 17 I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me. 18 With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity. 19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, my yield than choice silver. 20 I walk in the way of righteousness, in the middle of the paths of justice, 21 that I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries. 22 “Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old. 23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed. 24 When there were no depths, I was born, when there were no springs abounding with water. 25 Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born; 26 while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world. 27 When he established the heavens, I was there. When he set a circle on the surface of the deep, 28 when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong, 29 when he gave to the sea its boundary, that the waters should not violate his commandment, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, 30 then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him, 31 rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men. 32 “Now therefore, my sons, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction, and be wise. Don't refuse it. 34 Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts. 35 For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh. 36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.” Listen Donate Subscribe: Proverbs Daily Podcast Psalms Daily Podcast
Mackenzie Shirilla's defense counsel identified a medical condition during the proceedings that could have provided an alternative explanation for the Strongsville crash. No expert was called to testify. No medical records were entered into evidence. The prosecution's intent theory — that surveillance footage proved prior calculation and design — went unchallenged on the specific point most likely to introduce reasonable doubt.Following the conviction on four counts of murder for the crash that killed Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan, a neurologist reviewed Shirilla's medical records and identified evidence consistent with a medical episode: loss of consciousness, absence of head trauma, and low blood oxygen levels. That expert opinion was submitted as part of a post-conviction petition. The court denied the petition on procedural grounds — the filing exceeded Ohio's 365-day statutory deadline by one day. The medical evidence was never evaluated on its merits.Additional defense failures are documented. The prosecution presented an incident on I-71 as evidence of prior intent — a witness testified that Shirilla threatened to crash the vehicle. Text message evidence showed Shirilla provided an alternative account to the victim's mother, attributing the steering intervention to Dominic Russo. Two contradictory accounts of the same incident. The defense did not challenge the prosecution's version. The prosecution's forensic examiner testified to the absence of mechanical failure. The defense presented no independent accident reconstruction analysis.Criminal defense attorney Bob Motta evaluates each identified failure against the Strickland standard for ineffective assistance of counsel — whether counsel's performance fell below an objective standard of reasonableness and whether the deficiency prejudiced the outcome.Robin Dreeke applies FBI behavioral analysis to the competing narratives surrounding the case. The Netflix documentary presents Shirilla as remorseful and amnesic. A fellow inmate who spent six months in proximity describes behavioral characteristics inconsistent with that portrayal. The families seek certainty. The prosecution maintains the surveillance footage is dispositive. Dreeke examines whether any participant's version of events is shaped more by psychological need than evidentiary support — and whether the same judge presiding over conviction and post-conviction review creates structural bias.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Ecclesiastes 9:1–17 frames life “under the sun” as a repeated meditation on meaning, mortality, and posture toward the ordinary. Ecclesiastes uses steady iterations—like a song reworked over time—to press a dark but honest diagnosis: life without appeal beyond the present age looks empty, arbitrary, and often cruel. Nihilism shows up in several forms—existential loneliness, moral relativism, epistemic skepticism, and cultural breakdown—and the text treats each as a current that shapes modern thought and practice. Solomon observes that death levels distinctions: the righteous and wicked share the same end, and social honors mean nothing at the grave. Solomon pushes the logic of meaninglessness to a blunt conclusion and then counsels a counterintuitive response. The text counsels feasting, enjoyment of one's spouse, diligent work, and celebration—not as naïve hedonism but as prudent embrace of the gifts available in a limited life. Solomon argues for taking pleasure in ordinary provisions and relationships because time and chance make outcomes unpredictable; fortunes turn by luck as often as by wisdom. The narrative's brief portrait of a wise man who risks and gives himself to save a small city—and is forgotten and despised afterward—becomes the book's single declaration of greatness. Solomon elevates self‑giving wisdom over reputation, wealth, and achievement. The story of a nameless rescuer reframes true greatness as sacrificial service for the insignificant rather than accumulation of prestige. The Old Testament portrait points forward to the supreme example of kenotic wisdom: the incarnate King who humbled himself for the salvation of those who could not save themselves. For those anchored in that redemption, meaning and hope outrun luck and the leveling power of death, and present joys become signs of a fuller promise to come.

ACTS 1:1-11 - YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER - BRIAN SUMNER - 2026The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.The Holy Spirit Promised4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”Jesus Ascends to Heaven9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”To support this channel and partner with Brian in Ministryhttps://www.briansumner.net/support/For more on Brianhttp://www.briansumner.nethttps://www.instagram.com/BRIANSUMNER/https://www.facebook.com/BRIANSUMNEROFFICIALTo listen to Brians Podcast, click below.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Purchase Brians Marriage book at https://www.amazon.com/Never-Fails-Da...Brian is a full time "Urban Missionary" both locally and internationally with a focus on MISSIONS - MARRIAGES - MINISTRY. Mike welcomes Jeemin Moon to discuss an eschatological perspective on mental health, trauma, and resurrection hope. Moon shares updates about directing the biblical care and counseling studies program at Heritage College and Seminary, implementing ABC Level One (Equip to Counsel) for fourth-year students, and completing PhD comprehensive exams at Southern Seminary while writing a dissertation on a biblical theology of shame and God's covering. He explains why he taught on resurrection for a forthcoming book project, then reads Hebrews 2:5–18 and connects it to trauma, distinguishing traumatic events from being “traumatized,” and emphasizing Jesus' resurrection ministry to sufferers. They encourage trauma sufferers to interpret painful narratives through Scripture's meta-story, citing Isaiah 43 and Psalm 84 about God redeeming wilderness and valleys of tears into springs.00:00 Podcast Welcome00:22 Meet Jeemin Moon01:26 PhD Work on Shame03:01 Training Counselors at Heritage05:07 Why Focus on Resurrection06:06 Reading Hebrews Two08:40 Trauma Defined Light and Darkness11:40 Traumatic Events vs Traumatized14:46 Resurrection Hope in the Valley17:15 Redeeming the Past Story19:56 Host Reflection and Encouragement22:41 Final Thanks and Sendoff
