Phil, Kaitlyn, and Skye respond to questions from the listeners, including whether lay people should go to seminary, how important is attending a church after being hurt by one, and whether Christians should make violent video games. They also venture into theological topics like what pronouns are appropriate for God, what doctrines do we emphasize too much, and why they all think telling kids to “ask Jesus into your heart” is a bad idea. The crew also revisits the topic of Project 2025 and whether they regret their dismissive opinions about it from before the election. Also this week—Skye reveals plans for his new project with Holy Post Media, and one listener's question prompts Kaitlyn to make a big announcement. What's the one thing that can produce lasting fruit in our parish ministries? If we want to see real growth in areas like attendance, vocations, and community life, we must focus on making and maturing disciples. There are no shortcuts—superficial fixes won't yield lasting change. True fruitfulness comes from healthy individuals, thriving ministries, and a clear vision rooted in mission. In this episode, I break it all down using the metaphor of a fruit tree—and show why discipleship is the key to everything. Why Church? Community | Pastor John Ware by Lifehouse
In this episode, Pastor Karl kicks off a new 10-week sermon series diving into the letters of 1st and 2nd Timothy. Speaking on Mother's Day, he highlights the powerful influence of faithful mothers and grandmothers, drawing from Timothy's own story, shaped by his mother, Eunice, and grandmother, Lois. Pastor Karl emphasizes the core theme of these letters: what a Jesus community believes—its doctrine—directly shapes how it lives. Exploring 1st Timothy Chapter 1, he unpacks Paul's charge to Timothy, a young leader in Ephesus, to remain steadfast in a challenging environment, teaching sound doctrine and resisting cultural confusion. Pastor Karl outlines six reasons to "remain" in faith: hard places need hard truth, God's people are needed, God uses unworthy people, we serve a great God, the battle for faith is too important to surrender, and some have already fallen away. With passion, he calls the church to stand under Scripture, guard doctrine, and trust in God's grace to live faithfully. Message Us!The radical claim that genuine Christians will be actively involved in a local church isn't just provocative—it's biblically sound. While saving faith comes through Christ alone, transformed hearts inevitably seek Christian community. This message builds a comprehensive biblical case for why church participation matters.Scripture reveals church involvement as more than optional—it's a consistent pattern throughout the New Testament, an unwavering assumption in the apostles' writings, and even an explicit command in passages like Hebrews 10:24-25. The early believers didn't just casually attend gatherings when convenient; they devoted themselves to fellowship, prayer, and breaking bread together. But church participation isn't merely an obligation—it's a profound gift of grace. When imprisoned by the Nazis, theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote longingly about the "incomparable joy" of being with other Christians, something many take for granted. The local church provides essential spiritual benefits: encouragement when we're downcast, comfort during suffering, equipping for ministry, and accountability to keep us from drifting. The dangers of neglecting church are severe. Isolation makes us vulnerable to sin's deception and can eventually lead to apostasy. Our hearts rationalize disobedience when no one challenges our thinking. Additionally, genuine love for other believers—demonstrated through committed church involvement—serves as evidence of authentic faith according to 1 John 3:14.Church isn't merely about attending services but participating with your whole self. Don't just go to church—be the church by using your gifts, lifting your voice in worship, and investing in relationships. Make Sunday gatherings a priority, join a small group, and consider covenant membership to fully experience what God designed His people to be: a family bound together by Christ's love. What spiritual growth might you be missing by keeping the church at arm's length? How might God use you to strengthen others through committed participation in your local congregation?Support the show

Reformed Brotherhood | Sound Doctrine, Systematic Theology, and Brotherly Love
In this episode of The Reformed Brotherhood, Jesse and Tony explore Colossians 3:18-4:1, diving deep into the transformative power of Christ in shaping Christian character and community. They discuss how the peace of Christ and the message of Christ should define the daily lives of believers, emphasizing the importance of embodying virtues such as compassion, kindness, humility, and patience. The hosts remind listeners that putting on Christ is not aspirational, but rather a reality that defines the Christian life, as believers grow into the character already granted to them through their union with Christ. The conversation moves into the practical implications of sanctification, particularly how it shapes relationships within the church and beyond. Jesse and Tony reflect on how Christians are called to handle conflict and disagreements in ways that are radically different from the world, focusing on forgiveness, love, and unity. They highlight the necessity of yielding to Christ's work in us and how this impacts our daily interactions with others, whether in the church, family, or workplace. The episode also touches on the communal responsibilities of believers, such as teaching and admonishing one another, and the role of worship in fostering unity and growth. The hosts discuss how musical worship, prayer, and scripture reading are all essential practices that both encourage and challenge believers to grow in Christlikeness. This practical and theological exploration offers listeners valuable insights into how to live out the gospel in community and reflect Christ's character in all areas of life. Key Points: The Transformative Power of Christ: The hosts explain how putting on Christ means embodying virtues like compassion, kindness, and humility, which are already part of a believer's identity in Christ. Sanctification and Relationships: Jesse and Tony discuss how sanctification impacts relationships, encouraging Christians to handle conflict with grace and forgiveness, reflecting the gospel in their behavior. The Role of Worship and Community: The importance of mutual teaching, admonishing, and worship within the church is emphasized as a way to build unity and grow in spiritual maturity. Questions for Reflection: How does understanding that Christian character is already ours in Christ shape the way we live and interact with others? In what ways can we handle conflict within the church or family in a manner that reflects the peace of Christ? How can worship, including the singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, help us grow in unity and spiritual maturity? Recommended Resources: The Spirit of Prayer (Free eBook) - Download here

What's the Deeper Purpose of the Sabbath? What does true rest mean in the Bible? In this teaching, we explore the biblical understanding of rest as a spiritual principle rooted deeply in God's covenant relationship with humanity. The five major biblical covenants: • Noahic Covenant • Abrahamic Covenant • Mosaic Covenant • Davidic Covenant • New Covenant Each covenant in Scripture shows God's pattern of rest, with the Sabbath as the sign of the Mosaic Covenant, calling people to trust in divine provision over their own efforts. Jesus, as Lord of the Sabbath, fulfilled its meaning through seven healings, showing the Sabbath is about restoration, not rules. The word Shabbat means "to cease"—an invitation to stop striving and find true rest in God. This video unpacks how God leads His people from works-based striving into spiritual rest, rooted in trust and dependence on His provision.
Being a saint means actively participating in God's kingdom work, not just attending church services. Every believer has unique gifts and access to people that pastors may never reach. Christians must view the world through Biblical truth, challenge their perspectives, and use their spiritual gifts within the church community. The local church is essential for spiritual growth, mutual support, and the exercise of these gifts. True Christian living involves finding joy in whatever role God has assigned, whether teaching, serving, or showing hospitality.Support the show
How to Trust God in Uncertainty—Understanding God's calling often requires stepping beyond logic and into faith. Just as Jesus healed the blind man using mud and saliva, God's instructions may not always make sense—but they always require obedience and trust. Today, God is releasing a double anointing: • One for the secret place of private prayer and devotion • One for the public battlefield of ministry and victory Throughout Jesus' ministry, the power of private prayer laid the foundation for public effectiveness. This principle remains true today—what happens in the secret place directly influences your spiritual authority and impact. David's triumph over Goliath illustrates this truth. His public victory was a result of private battles—defeating lions and bears in secret prepared him for the battlefield. Are you ready to step into supernatural breakthrough through faith, obedience, and private devotion?

The discussion revolves around Dylan's journey to faith and how the community at NewCity played a significant role in his transformation. Dylan shares how he initially connected with the church through friendships, particularly with JD, Michael, and Ben. His journey began with social interactions—working out at a park, attending backyard wrestling nights, and engaging with community members who welcomed him before he believed. Despite feeling out of place at first, he was drawn to the kindness, authenticity, and intentionality of the people around him.Over time, Dylan's curiosity about Christianity deepened. He was given a Bible and began reading the Gospel of Mark, leading to spiritual encounters that helped him recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit. Conversations with JD and others helped him process his experiences, and after a period of contemplation, he committed to following Jesus. The podcast highlights the power of organic, relational evangelism—how simply living life with gospel intentionality can impact someone's faith journey. Dylan's story reflects a patient, community-driven approach to discipleship, where love, curiosity, and personal conviction ultimately led him to embrace Christianity.

In this sermon by Chris Romig, the emphasis is on the season of Lent and its profound role in the Christian tradition as a time for self-examination leading up to Easter. Chirs describes Lent as a centuries-old practice rooted in aligning with God's holiness and truth. The sermon outlines a practical approach to observing Lent by engaging with the seven letters to the churches in Revelation 2 and 3. Chris highlights these letters as timeless messages from Jesus relevant for churches today. Each day of the week, he encourages reflection on a different letter, prompting self-examination with questions like: Are we offering wholehearted worship? What fears might limit our courage for Christ? Chris calls for personal and communal prayer, drawing inspiration from historical revivals such as the 1949-1952 revival on the Isle of Lewis, which underscored the transformative power of prayer. He uses this example to inspire a desire for God's renewal in the community. The sermon concludes by urging the congregation to deeply engage with Lent, embracing it as a time for genuine repentance and seeking God's presence. Chris believes this can lead to a powerful spiritual awakening, reviving both individuals and the church community.
