Muscles & Mindset Podcast Episode: Finding Your "Enough": Exploring Abundance vs. Scarcity Introduction Welcome to the Muscles & Mindset Podcast with Dr. Ali Novitsky. In this episode, your favorite obesity medicine doc/fitness guru/physician coach delves into the concept of "enough" and how understanding it can lead to a more abundant life, both physically and mentally. This episode is inspired by Dr. Ali's recent six-week slow travel experience in Greece, which provided her with numerous "a-ha moments" that she is excited to share with you. Key Themes What is "Enough"? We explore the idea of "enough" in various aspects of life: Tangible Aspects: Money, weight loss, muscle mass, clothes, shoes, and purses. Intangible Aspects: Emotional and mental fulfillment, showing up as a parent or partner. Abundance vs. Scarcity Dr. Ali discusses how feelings of scarcity often manifest in tangible ways when we feel disconnected in our lives. For example, feeling a lack of money when there is emotional disconnection. Our brains tend to make abstract concepts tangible, which can lead to a scarcity mindset. Personal Experience in Greece The Packing Fiasco Dr. Ali shares a humorous yet enlightening story about arriving in Greece with eight full suitcases, only to realize that she had packed WAY more than necessary. This experience highlighted the concept of "enough" and how we often overestimate our needs. Living Simply Living in a three-bedroom apartment in Syros, Greece, with her family taught her the value of simplicity. They had fewer clothes, shopped daily for groceries, and wasted less. This minimalist lifestyle made her feel more abundant and less stressed. Practical Applications of "Enough" Financial "Enough" Dr. Ali Novitsky discusses setting a tangible "enough" for yearly income and focusing on meeting that without feeling scarcity. If individuals feel scarcity despite meeting their financial goals, it may be rooted in past experiences. Weight Loss "Enough" In her weight loss programs, Dr. Novitsky emphasizes "optimal weight loss," which focuses on maintaining muscle mass while losing body fat. She encourages setting realistic weight loss goals based on muscle mass and body fat ratio rather than arbitrary numbers. Reflections and Changes Personal Growth Dr. Novitsky's time in Greece prompted significant personal growth. She realized that she is enough as a partner, mother, daughter, and friend. This newfound self-acceptance has led to changes in her goals, lifestyle, and what she is willing to tolerate. Professional Offerings Dr. Novitsky introduces several programs designed to help individuals achieve optimal health: Muscles and Mindset: Beginner and advanced strength training programs. Transform for Physicians: A CME program extending from six months to a year. Optimal GLP-1 Weight Loss: Support for those on GLP-1 agonists. Nutrition Training for Healthcare Providers: A six-week live training program starting October 7th. Conclusion Dr. Novitsky encourages everyone to reflect on what "enough" means in their lives and how they can shift from a scarcity mindset to one of abundance. She thanks the audience for joining her on this journey and looks forward to helping them find their abundance. Until next time, stay healthy and abundant! What a way to welcome the New Year. Excess Baggage is a film from 1997 that almost takes you there but then falls short overall. The casting honestly saved this whole project but it really puts into perspective the importance of a tight story and seamless collaboration. This film was riddled with re-writes and re-shoots which is typically not a good sign, however watching for the charm and nostalgia factor really made up for it. Me and Mikey spent this episode pointing out the story holes, the drama on set during filming, and I drool over Benicia Del Toro. Off-topic rants include: male celebs as ice cream flavors, Patreon news, and why I loved the Eternals movie, Drag Race0:00- 08:40 chit chat/ awards season hypeLA Times Article (October 30, 1996)--- Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the  Patreon! GIVE US A 5 STAR RATING & SUBSCRIBE!Hosts: Lauren @lauren_melanie & Mikey @agentmikey007Substack The Lo Down: a Fashion Grunge blog/newsletterInstagram @fashiongrungepodTwitter @fgrungepodLetterboxd Fashion Grunge PodcastTikTok @fashiongrungepod

Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars and directors and producers! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones they made in between. Today we talk about a true professional. An actor's actor. The great Benicio Del Toro! Conor and Dan are joined by filmmaker and returning guest Chadd Harbold, who produced the new, impressive film Linoleum, starring Jim Gaffigan and Rhea Seehorn, out in theaters now. The Benicio Del Toro B-Sides discussed are: The Funeral, Excess Baggage, The Hunted, and The Wolfman. Plenty more Del Toro films are referenced, including the masterful Things We Lost in the Fire. We discuss his perfect accent in The Usual Suspects, his deep love for The Wolf-Man, the elemental beauty of The Hunted, and all of the scene-stealing he did as a young actor in small parts.  There's discussion on how Chadd and his team filmed Linoleum safely (and successfully) in pre-vaccine COVID times, how impossibly good the late Chris Penn is in The Funeral, and his desire to work with great filmmakers. Oh, and here's that insane Benicio death scene from Licence To Kill. Be sure to give us a follow on Twitter and Facebook at @TFSBSide. We were not afraid to speak negatively about this much beloved Jean-Luc Goddard film: "Breathless".  (Ian rec “Elevator to the Gallows” – Adam rec “Excess Baggage”)

You know what's cool, is when you start hearing stories from those on the inside who are willing to share some of the madness that only those involved really know. When I first heard Randy's story, my jaw hit the floor more than once. To be honest, it's probably still on the floor.Join us as we sit down with Randy as he shares with us how he has taken his traumas, tragedies and headaches he endured as a police officer and turned it into a much needed resource for inured/disabled police officers.Get ready for an amazing episode and special thanks to Randy Sutton for being on. On this week's deep dive, The Cultists present Excess Baggage (1997). An utterly perplexing and largely forgotten film, “Excess” tells the tale of a young sociopath with a penchant for pyromania whose impulsive plan to fake kidnap herself sets off a chain reaction of inconsequential events that will culminate in a sexual rendezvous with a mumbling high luxury thief in a car trunk. Sporting an eclectic cast of Alicia Silverstone, Benicio Del Toro, Harry Connick Jr and Christopher Walken (and peppered with THE SAME Dave Mathews Band song throughout to tell us that this is technically supposed to be a Rom-Com), this film remains a tonal oddity—One that would have faded into total obscurity if it wasn't for the fact that it's initial production contract set off its own curious chain reaction of events that would forever set the bar for industry salary inflation... They're joined by Mira Jacob, author of GOOD TALK and THE SLEEPWALKER'S GUIDE TO DANCING. (35:30–37:30) Mira Jacob tells us about her graphic memoir, GOOD TALK (38:15–40:11) What is Mira reading? (40:12–40:35) TV show recap: A flashback episode to the early ‘90s when the Richardson children are young. They are running a lemonade stand, and Izzy tries to rescue a baby cardinal. Izzy tries to throw out all of her girly clothes, floral curtains, and Keds that she no longer wants to define her. Pearl and Mia are still at odds. Pearl asks Mia to call her dad and tell him about her. Mia does try to call the Ryans and Madeline picks up and correctly guesses who it is. Elena: still meddling. Asks her doctor friend to break confidentiality about Bebe, but discovers Lexie/Pearl's file instead. Linda gives her testimony and the judge goes into a week of deliberation. The judge rules in favor of the McCulloughs and they are awarded custody of Mirabelle. Mia and Pearl make up, at Trip's urging. But they realize they can't stay in Shaker and leave without saying goodbye. Izzy sees Mia and Pearl leaving the key and tries to chase after them, but it's too late. Izzy snaps and grabs a gas can to light her belongings on fire. The other three Richardson children see her, and try to stop her, but then what Elena says causes them all to light matches and start little fires everywhere. Izzy runs away. Pearl and Mia leave Shaker and Pearl decides she wants to see her grandparents. Bebe steals her daughter back from the McCulloughs and makes a run for it. Elena takes the blame for the fires and goes to the duplex hoping Izzy is there, but she isn't. She finds the cardinal feather in Mia's artwork and cries over the ruination of her perfect life and the loss of her daughter. LITTLE FIRES COUNT: 10
