Who’s up for some daydreaming? In these chaotic times, you might say …I’m too busy ➨ really mean “not a priority.” Make self-care a priority. Feed your soul and keep your mind healthy.Isn’t that frivolous ➨ Coping mechanisms are not frivolous. Self-care is not frivolous, it’s absolutely critical.A rebel doesn’t daydream ➨ I’m confined in my home. Physically constrained, so my mind is off and wandering. Daydreaming gives me mental freedom I don’t physically have right now.Creating a ritual to daydream helps overcome:1. Fear2. Uncertainty3. Monotony4. LonelinessToolbox, especially for chaotic times:1. Daydreaming2. Meditating5. Relaxing in the bathtub (or on a hammock)6. Reading7. Conversing8. Exercising9. Hobbies – new and oldLook at your toolbox and incorporate into your daily schedule. Create a positive mindset. This includes daydreaming. We all daydream differently. Mine usually involve travel because it is central to relaxing me and bringing me joy.I was sad to realize I forgot about the International Happiness Day, when the happiest country report is published. I know it can be hard to focus on happiness right now, but it truly can have positive benefits. Take a moment and daydream about:Seeing the Northern Lights in FinlandExperiencing “hygge” in DenmarkHiking (or skiing) the Alps in SwitzerlandMeandering through the Grand Duchy of LuxembourgEnjoying classical music in AustriaWalking the “Lord of the Rings” path in New ZealandEmbracing your religious roots in IsraelRelaxing in a volcanic mud bath in Costa RicaHiking by day and marketing by night in TaiwanWant to continue the conversation? We live in a crazy world. Unless we live like hermits (which brings up a different set of issues!), we need to learn how to deal. Here are 5 ways, according to a recent CNN article:Be optimistic - instead of focusing on the world, focus on your local community and your circle of family and friends. Think about what makes you optimistic - laughing, being thankful, exercising, meditating, journaling, traveling, something else?Volunteer - whatever feeds your soul. There are some fantastic travel opportunities with a volunteer focus.Be grateful - wake up in the morning and ask, "what am I grateful for?" Start your day in a positive frame of mind. Visiting different places that increase your gratitude - for what you have and what you are experiencing.Increase your social interaction - we are creatures that require socialization for our mental and physical health. Including local opportunities. Think about traveling solo in a group.Find your purpose. Feel like you exist for something larger than yourself. Is it spiritual, family or social causes? Travel can play a great role in helping you find your purpose. Eco-tourism and voluntourism are very big right now.➨ Want to find out where your next travel experience should be?
