Deep tech, vocal house, and a smidge of minimal. Episode four from my old Stream FM residency. Enjoy!
I've started hitting record every time I get onto the decks, cos some of my post-pub crate digs have been pretty good. I thought it might be fun to share some of them. This one's a late night wander through the tracks I'd bought earlier in the day. And I bought some worldies! Normally, I'd rearrange stuff after my first play through, but I like the up-and-down on this one so it's a keeper.
Some nice vocal tracks, surrounded by peak time progressive house. Enjoy!
Shaking out the last of the dark progressive house, now that the sun's out.
Nice deep, techie, mix from July 2007. I think I did three mixes for them that summer, and it's probably the point that the residency started to find its sound. I loved that really cleanly produced sound, despite it not really being particularly dance floor friendly. Good to stroke a chin to, tho.
A post-party, 4am, whiskey and bifta come down mix. A few chin-strokers and a couple of head bobbers. Enjoy!
Some lovely dark-tinged, vocal progressive house in here. Soma Soul's “When I Was Lost” has been on hard repeat since I bought it. Enjoy!
Still lots of good progressive house floating about atm, so I've gone for some dark and chunky prog chuggers. Enjoy!
Remastered version of the second mix from my Stream FM residency from Jun/Jul 2006. Deep tech, minimal techno, and a couple of Minilogue gems. I still love how this stuff sounds today.
Emptying out prog breaks tracks I've collected over the last few months into a little 70 min groover.
Been sat on this for a while; some nice remixes off Bedrock, and a few (cheerier) Sud Beat style chuggers to groove you through the day. Everyone get through Xmas & New Year OK? Fingers crossed 2025 is better for everyone.
I'm still in the Progressive House mine, stumbling over dark little gems, including a new remix of Hold That Sucker Down… which I've played about a minute of, because let's be honest, you can't beat the Builds Like A Skyscraper mix. Rollo at his finest IMO. No wonder Faithless were so good… Happy Xmas everyone, see you in the New Year!
Ok, time for a bit of a change. I'm going to start going through some of my old mixes chronologically, starting with the Stream FM residency I had back in ‘06/'07. This one's a nice mix of acid, minimal, and a hint of electro. Enjoy!
Good ol' Prog House seems to be making a comeback, and I am absolutely here for it! I've been hammering these tunes for the last few weeks — the Creamer & K one, toward the end, I've been sat on for months — but I didn't quite have enough to put together a mix I was totally happy with. Until last night. Subs up, lights down.
Going back to the roots with a slow paced melodic techno mix, similar to the stuff that started the podcast back in the autumn of 2019. Happy anniversary everyone! And you thought those leading zeroes would never get used…
Something a bit deeper. Melodic Techno grooves, a bit of breaks, and some darker tracks to ease into winter. 124bpm for your ears
Another from 2006, inspired by the tunes I was hearing in Amsterdam during a messy weekend away. This is the start of me really getting into that DC10 style minimal, that I was rocking for a few years. Lots of loops and tweaks.
You know I can't stay away from a bit of disco. Or a bit of house. Or a bit of housey disco. Or a good house party. Enjoy!
Quick mix of the last of the summery prog house tunes I've had sat on the hard drive.I'll be crate digging next week...
Still crawling through the summer's bangers. Slightly less energy in this mix, and a couple of remixes of old classics that you may have heard me play before.
I think I did this mix about a month after the previous FTA, but it's a slightly harder, more techy sound. Anyway, I've run it through the re-master-a-tron and tried to save it from the horrible brickwall limiting I put on the original. (Remember the loudness wars? What a time to be alive...)
There's obviously been an improvement in the drugs on the club-scene; BPMs are creeping back up, and there are loads of decent, proggy house tracks. It's been great fun crate-digging over the last few weeks! Enjoy.
Lots of bangers floating about atm, including some remixes of tunes I used to play a decade or so ago. Turn the sub up, and let this wash over you. Progressive house for your ears.
Fluke are back! So I had to start a mix with their new EP, despite it being 100bpm. Enjoy.
I love this deep tech stuff from 2006/7. I used to play loads of it. Great to loop and layer... I only had a 192kbps MP3 of this mix, for some reason, so I decided to remaster it. Enjoy!
I got asked to play another birthday party, so here's a section of the warm-up. 80s bangers!
Some nice progressive breaks tracks that I've been collecting over the last few months. Enjoy!
Sun's out, so lets crack open a cider, get our shades on, and enjoy some afternoon drinking…
Spring's coming and I'm out of retirement for a few gigs to bring summer in, so I'm trawling the crate for some mid-afternoon grooves to get people nodding and chin stroking. This one's an eclectic mix of stuff that's perfect for the garden…
Some lovely dub, deep tech and 127 BPM Techno the climbs up to a Dave Clarke banger.
Easing into some progressive house, before I turn my attention back to the techno.
Kinda forgot how much deep house I used to play, but I was trawling through the archives and this popped out of a dusty folder and fell into the speakers: Smooth deep house grooves, from autumn of 2010; a mix I did exclusively for my old podcast, RK2. Enjoy.
Something nice and proggy, cos hey it's been a while, to keep your ears warm until spring arrives…
One of my favourite mix tapes from back-in-the-day was originally mixed by Mike Cosford as part of the Obsession: Progressive Excellence 6 pack. I've never had a decent copy of this, mine was a copy-of-a-copy-of-a-copy, that was slightly chewed, and then ripped to 128kbps MP3 sometime in the late 90s. So I bought the tracks I was missing on vinyl, sampled them, cleaned them up, practiced where Mike originally dropped them, and re-recorded it. I've broken all sorts of DJ etiquette here -- apologies Mike -- but I needed a decent version of this mix that would last me for another 30 years.https://tdi.online/2023-09-13-Obsession-is-a-mix-tape.html

Going old-school for a bit. Here's the first mix I recorded on CDs, back in 2006-ish? Old school progressive house.
Managed to keep a lid on this for about 30 minutes, and then it explodes. Couple of absolute bangers in the middle. The sound of my party season :D
I've been slowly trawling through my vinyl, cleaning stuff, and doing a bit of organising. Found a load of white labels and mash-ups that I've never used, so… time to record a vinyl mix!Expect a few more of these :D
Another dark-tinged melodic techno mix, leaning toward pea-time, cos there's just so much good, dark music about atm. Turn those Xmas lights off abd lock in.
Nice mix of Deep Tech and House from the Summer of '09. Guest mixed for Adil&Doax's Und3r Kontrol Podcast. Lots of layers and cheeky changes.
Still on a peak-hour tip: something proggy with a smattering of techno for your ears.
Some absolute bangers in here. Lights out, volume up, head down. Let's Dance!
Some nice, deep, dark, Detroit Techno from 2014. Mixed for BrapFM and probably not at all what they were expecting :D
Progressive, melodic techno, veering into vocal bangers in the second half.
Melodic Techno / Deep Tech a bit of Techno and some dark tinged eclectic vibes. Bit all over the place, this one :)
Dark room, detroit / hypnotic techno, cos I'm still in a stompy mood…
My guest mix for Infamous Light Recordings podcast, from November 2007. Minimal techno, deep tech and DC 10 vibes
The one and only DJ Bomb; RK2 legend and all around top bloke, with his first mix for RK3: Deep, progressive, melodic techno and tech grooves, mixed to perfection.
Bit of a throwback mix to some artists & style I used to play back in the noughts.
More summery grooves for those late evening BBQs. Electronica beats, chuggy melodic techno and 120 BPM progressive.
