Celebrating the Holidays and Holy Days with Sunday edition By: Anthony Corona This week on Sunday edition, we leaned into the season with a conversation that was warm, meaningful, and full of joy. Throughout the year we have shared our Faith in Modern Times series with Mark, Lorna, and Gabriel, and they returned for a holiday edition focused on how we celebrate, how we keep the joy alive, and how we share and spread that joy throughout the holidays. This episode is a blend of tradition, music, and memories. We talked about faith based reflections, secular celebrations, cultural rituals, and the little moments that make this time of year feel meaningful. Some traditions are rooted in religion, some in family, some in chosen family, and some simply in comfort and connection. All of them belong here. We also took a stroll through the soundtrack and screen glow of the season, the holiday music that lives in our bones, the specials that signal it is officially that time of year, and the quiet comfort of the Yule log flickering in the background while life slows down just a bit. We celebrated what we can be thankful for, how we hold onto our faith, and how we honor faith of all traditions. Holiday music highlights from this episode included old favorites like "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" and music from A Charlie Brown Christmas, along with newer offerings like Kylie Minogue's "Hot in December." We also visited traditional staples including "O Holy Night" and "Joy to the World." Mark treated us to some wonderfully creative songs made with creation help by artificial intelligence, including a Christmas perspective from the often left out Rudolph partner, Clarice. She just loves his red nose, but we digress. Anthony shared his own cover of "Happy Xmas, War Is Over," and we closed out the episode by rocking right into "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." We would love to hear from you. What are your holiday must listens What are your holiday must eats What traditions do you return to year after year What songs or specials instantly put you in the holiday spirit Maybe it is "Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel" Maybe it is "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" Maybe it is music from A Charlie Brown Christmas Maybe it is the glow of the Yule log on television Maybe it is "Let It Snow" Maybe it is "Silver Bells" Maybe it is "Feliz Navidad" Maybe it is "Last Christmas" Maybe it is a song or tradition that only exists in your family Sunday edition Holiday Giveaway Our Sunday edition Holiday Giveaway is in full swing. A smiling John Lennon on Monday Night Football. A blunt 1970 interview that cut through the post‑Beatles haze. A late‑night Bermuda epiphany triggered by the B‑52s. We stitch together these scenes to tell a clear story of return, risk, and the ache of what never happened. We revisit Lennon's sharp takes on early solo albums, then jump to Howard Cosell's halftime chat where “It's always in the wind” floated a reunion hope. From there we follow the thread to Double Fantasy: phone‑call songwriting with Yoko, the decision to interleave their tracks, and the electric but shelved Cheap Trick‑backed version of I'm Losing You. The music reveals a man choosing domestic honesty over spectacle, and that choice rings loud on Watching The Wheels and Beautiful Boy. We also sit with the shock of December 8, 1980—how news broke live on TV, how radio turned into a vigil, and how listeners discovered deep cuts and new meanings in the days that followed. The legacy keeps evolving. Anthology 1 brought Free As A Bird to life from a worn cassette, reminding us that imperfections can feel truer than polish. New restoration tools now separate voices from tape hiss, reframing classics without erasing their warmth, and sparking debate around releases like Now And Then. We dig into early Beatles gems, Pete Best's late payday, and why Rubber Soul still feels like the band's great hinge moment. Seasonal staples make an appearance too—Lennon's reflective Happy Xmas and McCartney's gloriously divisive Wonderful Christmastime—because these songs hold our calendars as much as our hearts.Come for the stories, stay for the connective tissue: how culture, technology, and memory keep Lennon present. If this journey moved you, follow the show, share it with a friend who loves The Beatles, and leave a quick review so more listeners can find these conversations.Learn Something New orRemember Something OldContact us at musicinmyshoes@gmail.com with your own musical memories.Send us a one-way message. We can't answer you back directly, but it could be part of a future Music In My Shoes Mailbag!!!

Greetings from America where it's our annual National-Murder-A-Turkey Week! We here at the UBP Home Office at tropical Meigs Field are beyond grateful for our listeners, our friends, our UBP families, our Patreon subscribers, Kohls Black Friday deals, and US Postal workers, who deserve our respect and a damn TIP around the holidays. This week, we show our gratitude for the many Beatles and solo Beatles projects in 2025, highlighted by the recent release of “Anthology 4”, which presents an exciting chance to buy “Something” (take 39, instrumental strings only) for the second time since 2019. (Who needs “Carnival Of Light” when you can have “Something” (take 39, instrumental strings only) on TWO pricey physical reissues?) The Turkey Trottin Two share their gratitude, and discuss a litany of holiday-themed Beatles news and releases. And they absolutely never sound like grumpy old dudes who'd rather have a deluxe Rubber Soul than a full slab of Threetles vinyl! Plus, in the spirit of the holiday season, they ponder/pander:

So is the word “Xmas” an attempt to take “Christ” out of “Christmas.” What's the story with that? David Capes tackles this question in this podcast. The answer may surprise you.
