Ah, rulebooks. Don't you just love sitting down with a cup of hot beverage and an arcane manual written by what you assume is a “game wizard” and spend four hours of your day trying to understand what exactly phrases like “spend your faucet token to activate the hyrdraulics action space” actually mean, to only inevitably give up and desperately search YouTube for a Watch it Played video? Well, this episode of the No Pun Included podcast is delivered to you by this exact feeling. Not all games in today's episode have bad rulebooks - but the ones that do excel at it. Timestamps: Sheepy Time - ( 04:00 ) Beast - ( 18:21 ) The Great Wall - ( 40:19 ) For more of the No Pun Included podcast visit https://nopunincluded.com/podcast where you can leave a comment if you'd like to discuss any of the games featured in this episode, or any terrible rulebooks you've encountered in your life.
This week we continue to celebrate the musicians that Dylan celebrates, playing the musicians that Dylan and his partner Eddie Gorodetsky played during the three-year/three season run of THEME TIME RADIO HOUR from 2006-2009 (including both an unbroadcast 101st episode, "Kiss," and a two-hour episode from 2020, "Whiskey"). This week we feature the musicians that Dylan played eight times (one was played seven times) on THEME TIME RADIO HOUR, mostly rhythm & blues musicians. In "20 Pounds of Headlines," we round up news from the world of Bob Dylan, including Dylan tour information & news of the new Nobel Laureate in Literature: Abdulrazak Gurnah. In "Who Did It Better?" we ask you to tell us who did Willie Dixon better, Muddy Waters with "Just Make Love to Me (I Just Want to Make Love to You)" or Bob Dylan with "My Wife's Home Town?"
The Packers are heading to Chicago to take on the Bears at Soldier Field in week six, and we start by sharing our overall feelings heading into the game. Next we get into the key matchups for the Packers defense against the Bears offense, led by rookie QB Justin Fields (00:02:26). We talk about the elevated importance of slowing down the Bears running game this week, as well as what we can expect from Eric Stokes, and the rest of the CB group if Kevin King is unable to go and still being without Jaire Alexander. After the break, we move over to the Packers offensive matchups against a stout Bears defense, where the big key will be who wins in the trenches. We take a look at the impact a potential return of Josh Meyers and Elgton Jenkins could have in both the running and passing game (00:32:10). We also talk about Coach LaFleur's comments that he would like to get AJ Dillon more involved and what that may mean for the Packers run game and overall offensive game plan (00:35:42). Lastly, we finish with our nominations for our #BeLegendary X – Factors (00:54:36) and score predictions for the game. https://lombardislegends.com Twitter: @LombardiLegends Instagram: LombardisLegends Facebook: @LombardisLegends YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAdWjeSi1MY347si-6RucUg Intro/Outro Music – Green And The Gold (West Coast Packers Anthem) (feat. In the wake of criticism about conditions at last spring's women's basketball championship, the NCAA is considering a number of changes, including whether the men's and women's Final Fours should be played on the same weekend in the same city. IBJ's sports business reporter Mickey Shuey talks with host Mason King about why that would significantly shorten the list of cities that could host the Final Four and whether Indianapolis could handle a combined event. And King talks with Michelle Perry, a former NCAA executive and now a sports consultant, about what the change would mean for the women's game—and its fans. You can read more about the issue in Mickey's story in this week's IBJ. Looking for another podcast to try? Check out IBJ's The Freedom Forum with Angela B. Freeman, a monthly discussion about diversity and inclusion in central Indiana's business community.
The Packers pull out an OT win in Cincinnati, 25-22, on a Mason Crosby game winner. We start off our recap with some overall thoughts on the win, before moving into a full breakdown of performances on the offensive side of the ball (00:03:50). The offensive line continued to step up, despite missing three starters, Davonte Adams had another stellar performance (00:08:00), AJ Dillon added a nice contribution in the pass game (00:08:40), and Aaron Rodgers got it going after a slow start (00:11:00). After the break, we look at the defensive performances, and once again we start with the impact of Kenny Clark (00:24:59) and De'Vondre Campbell (00:30:02). Lastly, we briefly touch on the struggles of Mason Crosby (00:39:15), before finishing with our nominations for our #BeLegendary Cheesehead Players of the week (00:43:53). https://lombardislegends.com Twitter: @LombardiLegends Instagram: LombardisLegends Facebook: @LombardisLegends YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAdWjeSi1MY347si-6RucUg Intro/Outro Music – Green And The Gold (West Coast Packers Anthem) (feat. The BarcaBreakdown discuss Joan Laporta's comments ahead of Messi's France Football interview. Laporta had hoped Messi would somehow offer to play for free. This has seemed to blow up in the media as a crazy possibility that could never happen for several reasons. First off legal issues would not allow for a player to play for free in La Liga. Furthermore, Messi had already offered to take a 50% pay reduction to meet the needs of the team. Unfortunately, many senior players on the team have high wage contracts and long in duration. This all stems from Bartomeu's awful financial decisions which had led to a reduction from 300 million euros to a low budget of 97 million euros. While the financial situation was unfortunate for Laporta, he must have been aware of the intricacies of FC Barcelona's financial situation. Despite this, Laporta had promised to sign Messi in his presidential campaign and had elicited that the Messi negotiations were going well. Not until the final moment when Messi returned from his vacation did Laporta say it wasn't possible to sign him. Laporta's story does not seem to fit a real timeline. A politician's game is being played to shift the blame off of Laporta and onto Messi. This came in the form of Laporta saying he had hoped Messi would play for free. Unfortunately, FC Barcelona are in a tough situation. Although we need a leader and someone to spur confidence in our ability to bounce back. We do not have high hope that Barca will be able to prevail in La Liga and the Champions League with Laporta reiterating his confidence in Koeman being the right man for the job. In the most positive news, Dembele seems like he will make an appearance in the coming games in October (Valencia, Dynamo Kiev, and El Clasico-Real Madrid). Let's celebrate the musicians that Dylan celebrates. In this and in upcoming episodes of this series, you will hear the musicians that Dylan and his partner Eddie Gorodetsky played during the three-year/three season run of THEME TIME RADIO HOUR from 2006-2009 (including both an unbroadcast 101st episode, "Kiss," and a two-hour episode from 2020, "Whiskey"). And we do not beat around the bush: we start things off with the most-played musician in all of THEME TIME RADIO HOUR. In "20 Pounds of Headlines," we round up news from the world of Bob Dylan, including Dylan tour information, news of the return of GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY to Broadway on October 13th, and the American opening of RETROSPECTRUM, Dylan's first, five-decade-spanning retrospective of his visual art in Miami in November. In "Who Did It Better?" we ask you to tell us who did "I Can't Get You Off Of My Mind" better: Hank Williams with his original version from 1947 or Bob Dylan in 2000.

Wags asks if this will be the week we see Allen Lazard get more involved. After the break, we look at the defensive matchups, which will focus on trying to slow down the Bengals' talented trio of receivers and Joe Burrow, who is playing at a high level so far on the season (00:39:10). Lastly, we nominate our #BeLegendary X Factors for this week along with predictions for the outcome (00:52:33). https://lombardislegends.com Twitter: @LombardiLegends Instagram: LombardisLegends Facebook: @LombardisLegends YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAdWjeSi1MY347si-6RucUg Intro/Outro Music – Green And The Gold (West Coast Packers Anthem) (feat. Alex and I commented during this time about our first experiences interning at a strength and conditioning facility and Im glad I wasn't the only person completely lost on their first day of work. Alex currently is training baseball players at a high level and puts out amazing content on social media and his website. He talks about his overall goal is to just help as many athletes as he can and taking a selfless way of looking at his growth over the past couple years. Alex is steering the way for many trainers in baseball and how to use social media as a tool to put out the best possible info and by putting it out for free. Main Topic - Good Stuff Decks NOT TO DISCUSS ON AIR, Zack, here is a place for you to add specific cards you may want to talk about: https://scryfall.com/@greenegeek/decks/2b49ca90-c2d8-4ee2-b6ea-643d91f79849 I like powerful decks too! It's good to have a range of different options, and I think a GoodStuff option might be great deck to have in your arsenal Disclaimer: Everyone interacts with Magic differently, this may not be a way that you want to build and/or play decks. No one is wrong! These are just some alternative thoughts, that may lead people to broaden their horizons, and may lead folks to seek out new experiences. Pretty much how Zack builds all of his decks To me, it's a deck where you are just playing awesome cards you already own, without paying particular attention to synergy with your Commander(s) What exactly is a good stuff deck? Build You know how you have those perennial *almost* good enough cards to make your deck? This is the place to play them You can think of this as a deck made almost entirely out of Flex spots. I had a Riku of Two Reflections deck, that just had fun cards. What's better than 1 Simic Sky Swollower? TWO! I had a Keranos, God of Storms deck, man Hypersonic Dragon is just a sweet Magic Card Ertai the corrupted. Played things like biterblossom, the guile and dovescape combo, it had phyrexian arena I think back to when I first started playing Commander (Back in my day it was called EDH gosh darnit!). But seriously, I had decks that were just full of fun/cool cards This may be harder for newer players to do, as they don't have as deep of a collection to comb through. It's also just generally fun to look at Magic cards, and think of the wildest Magical Christmas Land scenarios! When I build decks like this, I tend to just thumb through a TON of cards, and just set cards aside that I like, or that make me smile, or remember some silly thing that happened in a kitchen table game, back in the day When I build a “good stuff” deck, I tend to eschew my typical form of spreadsheet building, which makes sure that I have all of the normal stuff, in the correct ratios, Ramp, Card Draw, Removal etc etc. This tends to lead me towards building less optimized decks. This is not to say that you shouldn't build with intention, far from it! For example, you absolutely want to make sure that you have ways of ending games of Magic. It might be hard to build a tribal deck for this kind of thought experiment, because there will just be so many baked-in synergies. That being said, if it's a very off-the-wall tribe, you can probably make it work. I am GLAD we're getting lots of cards! I just sometimes think back to the days at the beginning of the format, where there were a LOT less Commanders to choose from, and oftentimes the decks felt more personal. I see new folks on Twitter experiencing Commander for the first time, and I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous. It's pretty much impossible to unlearn knowledge gained through years of playing Commander, but I think it is possible to kinda recapture some of that nostalgia by making “good stuff” decks. Zack is also happy getting a lot of new commander cards. I remember when all i looked for in sets were commander cards and modern cards when i first started playing and it felt like you got maybe 1-2 commander cards a set. We have been getting a LOT of cards designed specifically for Commander, and I think a side-effect of this is that we are seeing a general power creep, or maybe even staple creep in the format. I like to think of it as smooth jazz You probably won't have as much of a good time playing a GoodStuff deck against hyper-tuned decks. This is just a more specific case of “Have the rule Zero” talk. It might be really cool to get your playgroup together and talk about making some decks like this to play against each other. We know this isn't possible for folks that don't have a consistent playgroup. It also might be really cool to have a GoodStuff deck to play against newer players, if you're lucky enough to find some to play against (It's seriously cool to watch folks discover stuff! Like they pick up one of your cards, and their eyes just go wide, imagining stuff) It's also super hard to do this when folks have drastically differently sized collections. You could do a budget limit, to try and get the decks to come out more equivalent, but even that is hard. It's really fun to play against these kinds of decks, because you get to see so many infrequently played cards. You'll get to have more of the, “wait, what does that card do?” moments You'll probably get into a lot of “Novel” board states with decks like these (Although Commander does tend to bring about Novel stuff all the time, so maybe this isn't as huge a boon to building a GoodStuff deck) You also probably need to set your expectations a little lower, when playing a deck like this. It's not going to function like a well-oiled machine, and it's probably going to play drastically different from game-to-game. This can be a good thing, if you're just wanting to see what cool stuff can happen. Play My Gonti, Lord of Luxury deck is one that I just threw together out of cards I already had. It's seriously fun to play, and it's just super different every time I play it (this is also helped out by the fact that I'm casting OPC from different decks each time I play it) Breena Some of my favorite decks are like this Decks that aren't designed to do a specific thing, end up doing very different things, and I think that can be a good thing, and a fun experience. Folks out in audience land, what is your take on this idea? Do you have decks like this? Do you ever yearn to recapture that new player experience? Summary Why would you want to build/play a good stuff deck? Wrap it up Keep it Social! In 1970, a woman named Beverly Oliver told conspiracy researcher Gary Shaw at a church revival meeting in Joshua, Texas, that she was the Babushka Lady. Oliver stated that she filmed the assassination with a Super 8 film Yashica and that she turned the undeveloped film over to two men who identified themselves to her as FBI agents. According to Oliver, she obtained no receipt from the men, who told her that they would return the film to her within ten days. She did not follow up with an inquiry. She reiterated her claims in the 1988 documentary The Men Who Killed Kennedy. According to Vincent Bugliosi, Oliver "has never proved to most people's satisfaction that she was in Dealey Plaza that day." Confronted with the fact that the Yashica Super-8 camera was not made until 1969, she stated that she received the "experimental" camera from a friend and was not even sure the manufacturer's name was on it. Beverly Oliver's claims were the basis for a scene in Oliver Stone's 1991 film JFK, in which a character named "Beverly" meets Jim Garrison in a Dallas nightclub. Played by Lolita Davidovich, she is depicted in the director's cut as wearing a headscarf at Dealey Plaza and speaking of having given the film she shot to two men claiming to be FBI agents.

Gas stations across Britain have had to shut down because a lack of truckers has caused huge supply difficulties. As special correspondent Malcolm Brabant reports from Brighton, on the southern coast of England, the problems appear to be one of the side effects of Brexit.
