I got a chance to go hands-on with Silent Hill: Townfall at a private preview event in LA, and I have to say — this one is something special. Three hours with the game, a decorated hotel setup themed around the Scottish town of Saint Amelia, and a live Q&A with writer/director Jon McLennan from ScreenBurn and series producer Akimoto-san from Konami. Yeah, it was that kind of event. This episode is my full breakdown of what I saw, what surprised me, and why I think this might be one of the most important Silent Hill games ever made.We talk the first-person perspective shift and why it works, the CRTV mechanic that replaces the classic radio in the freshest way possible, the gyroscopic DualSense puzzle design, the 2.35:1 cinemascope presentation, and the five endings — including some secret ones. We also get into the combat, which is brutal and deliberate in the best way, and the stealth system that puts you in genuine danger at every turn.

Fresh off Friday's news that LeBron James chose Philadelphia over Cleveland, callers Rick and Dan debate whether LeBron would have ever considered Cleveland at all if the 2003 draft lottery hadn't landed him there, with both agreeing his character and legacy remain untouchable even as they say they'll boo him. Lima and Nick note LeBron, at 41, is still an elite player who averaged 27 and six last season, and lament what his star power and playoff storylines would have meant for the Cavs and for talk radio. The conversation shifts to Browns training camp optimism, spotlighting an afternoon-show segment where analyst Nick Wilson praised nearly every player on the roster, including a surprising shoutout to running back Rocket Sanders despite his modest 27 carries last season.

455: The Chicago Charities College All-Star Game - With Warren Rogan

For more than 40 years, the Chicago Charities College All-Star Game occupied a singular place on the annual football calendar. Each summer, the nation's top graduating college players took on the reigning NFL champions before packed crowds at Chicago's Soldier Field and a national television audience. Played 42 times between 1934 and 1976, the game became an unlikely bridge between college football and the NFL during some of the sport's most transformative years. In "College All-Stars vs. NFL Champions: The Chicago Charities Football Games," sports historian Warren Rogan ("Sports' Forgotten Heroes") explores the history, personalities and enduring legacy of this forgotten football institution. Conceived by Chicago Tribune sports editor Arch Ward during the Great Depression, the game began as a way to help promote a young NFL still seeking to establish itself alongside the far more popular college game. Over the years, it became much more than an exhibition. The series raised more than $4 million for Chicago charities and featured future stars from the worlds of sports, politics and public life, including Kenny Washington, Jackie Robinson, future US President Gerald Ford & eventual US Supreme Court Justice Byron "Whizzer" White. From its inaugural 0–0 tie against George Halas's Chicago Bears in 1934 to the College All-Stars' memorable victory over Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers in 1963, the game produced its share of unforgettable moments before coming to an abrupt, rain-soaked end in 1976. In this episode, we explore the history, significance and lasting legacy of one of football's most fascinating forgotten traditions — a time when the nation's best college players had one final chance to test themselves against the very best professional team in the game. + + +  SUPPORT THE SHOW:  Buy Us a Coffee: https://ko-fi.com/goodseatsstillavailable The "Good Seats" Store: http://tee.pub/lic/RdiDZzQeHSY BUY THE BOOK:  "College All-Stars vs. NFL Champions: The Chicago Charities Football Games: 1934-1976": https://amzn.to/4fmad6S SPONSOR THANKS:  Royal Retros (10% off promo code: SEATS): https://www.royalretros.com/?ref=SEATS Old School Shirts.com (10% off promo code: GOODSEATS): https://oldschoolshirts.com/goodseats FIND AND FOLLOW: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/GoodSeatsStillAvailable Web: https://goodseatsstillavailable.com/ Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/goodseatsstillavailable.com X/Twitter: https://twitter.com/GoodSeatsStill YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@goodseatsstillavailable Threads: https://www.threads.net/@goodseatsstillavailable Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goodseatsstillavailable/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GoodSeatsStillAvailable/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/good-seats-still-available/

jD convenes the expert panel to dissect "700 Ft Ceiling," the song that lands like a baseball bat to the face right in the middle of Trouble at the Henhouse. The conversation starts warm — everyone's summertime Hip pick, from "Membership" to "Morning Moon" to "Summer's Killing Us" — before turning to the puzzle at the centre of the track: what exactly is a 700-foot ceiling? (Aviation term. Lowest layer of broken or overcast cloud sitting 700 feet above ground.)The panel unpacks Gord's habit of collecting phrases for their sound rather than their meaning, the wintery outdoor-rink imagery, and the Lou Reed-flat melody that barely distinguishes verse from chorus.Things get spicy on placement. Tracy calls it filler and skips it. Mikk and Jamie agree the song detonates a gorgeous opening run — "Gift Shop," "Springtime in Vienna," "Ahead by a Century," "Don't Wake Daddy," "Flamenco" — and kicks off what Jamie dubs the album's weird second half alongside "Butts Wigglin'" and "Coconut Cream." The Kids in the Hall theory gets floated. So does the grunge theory. Everyone concedes it hit much harder live than it ever did on record. Then the episode's real gift: Mick and Jamie tell the story of renting the Bathhouse for a weekend — sleeping in the studio, playing pool while spinning We Are the Same on vinyl, Billy Ray wandering in at 10pm with stories, engineer Niles behind the board, Gord's training bike still parked where he left it. Once-in-a-lifetime stuff, told well.Next week's shuffle: "Gus: The Polar Bear from Central Park" from In Between Evolution.Key Quotes"It's like an alarm clock goes off." — Mik, on where the song lands on the album"It is like a baseball bat in the face." — jD"Think about how many shows they played after 2004 that they did not play this song. That's why it ranks low. Guys, I'm telling it like it is." — Jamie"I think this is kind of Gord's secret talent — he listens better than everybody." — Mik"He says '700-foot ceiling' like four times, but the second or third time it's '700 and sinking,' which is just cool." — Jamie"It kind of felt very lived in. There was nothing you couldn't touch, nothing you couldn't sit on." — Mik, on the Bathhouse"I'll get emotional if I talk about it." — Jamie, on being shown the band's jam space"Well, I know what we forgot to do this week. In this episode of the California Sports Lawyer Podcast, host Jeremy Evans analyzes how increasingly complex media-rights agreements can determine where games are played, how they are distributed, and whether they happen at all. The canceled Duke–Michigan basketball game demonstrates how competing contractual claims can prevent a valuable sports opportunity from moving forward. Jeremy discusses why Duke and the ACC believed they could place the game on Amazon Prime Video with ESPN's approval, while the Big Ten and Fox maintained that the rights belonged to them under an agreement governing neutral-site games between the conferences. The episode also explores media consolidation, the expanding role of sports agencies at the intersection of talent, investment, capital, and strategy, and the consequences that rights disputes create for schools, athletes, venues, sponsors, and fans. As sports, media, business, technology, and law continue converging, media rights increasingly represent both valuable commercial assets and instruments of control. Future agreements must protect those rights while preserving enough flexibility to create compelling matchups, generate revenue, develop new traditions, and ensure that the underlying games can still be played. Dave Brisbin 7.26.26 Played high school football my first two years. Bookish kid trying to fit in, never got off the bench in league play. But I could learn that playbook. Knew it cover to cover better than the starters. Took some nerdy pride in that. Small and fast, they put me at tight end and during a training scrimmage, quarterback called an end around. I knew that play cold: two steps off the line, planted, spun around across the backfield, quarterback fading into view, ball suspended in my path, slapped against my chest. Clamped down and turned back toward the line. Perfectly executed. But in my mind, the play was over. No more lines on the page. Holding the ball with absolutely no idea what to do next. A big linebacker showed me. I had focused on what I could understand, but everything it means to be a football player starts where the playbook ends. The parts we can read and memorize are not why we go to football games. What we do when nothing is telling us what to do…that's worth a ticket. In real life, though, excitement turns to panic when we can't see the path ahead. It's an honest mistake. We see the path snaking behind, choices and events like stones in a lawn, and we imagine the future laid out in front of us as well… destiny, fate, God ordained…if we could just get a glimpse. But wise man say the path is made by walking on it. Life is not a worn path in the woods, stretching out behind and before. It's an adventure, a masted ship at sea. You see the wake behind, ahead only trackless ocean. A cloud of possible futures, constantly shifting with each choice/event. We look to religion, its scripture, laws, beliefs, rituals—playbook and promise. If we follow the book, we'll be safe. Saved. It may actually seem to work for awhile, until we suddenly find ourselves holding the ball with no idea what to do next. Religion puts the play in motion. Jesus shows us how to exceed the playbook and run downfield with the ball. Life begins where the playbook ends. Why we buy the ticket. The way ahead is trackless ocean, a field of linebackers. Frightening. We could get in trouble. But that's how you know it's an adventure.

The Boys start off discussing last weekend's wild turn of events. Including, the assassination attempt towards former president Donald Trump. The Boys then take a sharp turn and talk all things football. First, TJ discusses his knee injury he had at the end of last season. How his road to recovery has been, and ways to fight off negative thought cycles. T.J. then discusses the differences between all the QB's he's played with. Matthew Stafford, Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff, and Josh Dobbs to name a few. Finally, Will and Taylor ask about T.J.'s mindset for 2024. Does he have any bitterness towards the Lions for trading him?
