San Grewal and Rahim Mohamed discuss Robyn Urback's opinion piece in the Globe and Mail, titled, “Like a bad ex, Donald Trump is accidentally making Canada become its best self”. Indeed, national pride seems to be at an all-time high, but is it warranted? After all, hate crimes are on the rise, two Jewish bakeries were vandalized last weekend, and a group of white supremacists just threw a "family-friendly festival” called Bigotfest in North Bay. Lorenzo Meloni is an Italian photographer. He has documented some of the defining conflicts of the 21st century across the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. For more than a decade, he has worked in territories marked by wars, revolutions and profound political and social transformations, developing a visual practice that views conflict not merely as an event, but as a historical, material and cultural process. In recent years, his work has expanded beyond the battlefield. Revelation, an ongoing project, explores how science and technology are changing our relationship to the material world. In 2022, he published the monograph We Don't Say Goodbye, a fragmented narrative on the rise, dominance and fall of the Islamic State as a territorial entity. An intersex man had his urethra operated on when he was a toddler. Now he wants to try sounding but his doctors advise against it. He is suspicious of doctors after his non-consensual surgeries. Should he ignore them and pursue his pleasure? A 66 year-old woman loves to give blow jobs to her lucky husband. But sometimes she gets a bit too enthusiastic and ends up with bruises on her lip. Will people see them and know how she got them? On the Magnum, have you ever slept with a clown? Meet Barney Muckle, a British kinkster who has turned clowning into an awesome fetish. He and Dan talk about the inherent silliness of sex ("Sex is putting weird things in funny places,") and how we would all do well to take it less seriously. Barney has a dildo that looks like a banana split, and so should you. Finally, a woman and her girlfriend have decided to take a break from sex. They are both kinky. The caller wonders if they could make this break hot by leaning into a sexy abstinence vibe. Or would they then not be taking a break after all? Record your question and send it in to Dan. Right now a hiring manager is typing "accounting recruiter near me" into ChatGPT, and somebody is coming up. Steve Gipson's argument is that the recruiter who gets named is almost never the best one. It is simply the most visible one. Benjamin sat in a room at the Pinnacle Society conference adding up numbers as top billers casually mentioned inbound work arriving through their websites. Two hundred thousand here. Four hundred thousand there. Another hundred somewhere else. Roughly a million dollars in placement fees that nobody chased. That is the conversation that led to this episode. Steve grew up in the industry listening to his father close deals from a home office, spent seven years on a direct hire desk in insurance, then got recruited out of recruiting by his brother Jeff. Recruiters Websites enters its fourteenth year this December and has worked with over a thousand firms. The number that anchors this episode belongs to one of those clients. A two person firm that had billed four hundred and four thousand dollars of inbound business as of the day this was recorded. They pull twenty to thirty leads a month from people who have never heard of them. Steve is careful with the caveat. That firm planted its tree seven or eight years ago, and they still had to vet the client, sell the fee agreement, and do the work. Then they get into what actually changed. Steve explains why the doom posts claiming Google killed search got it backwards, what an AI snippet is really pulling from, and why the models reward specificity in a way the old ten blue links never did. He breaks down topical authority in plain language, why a page for accounting recruiters in St. Louis should link back to a page for accounting recruiters in Missouri, and how that structure becomes the answer when someone asks a model who to call. He also gives away the tactics most agencies charge for. Directories and industry associations. Publishing your own comparison lists and putting your competitors on them. Three hundred dollar press releases through the newswire. Answering questions on Reddit and Quora, where the models go looking. The uncomfortable part is Steve's estimate that maybe five percent of the people who hear this will act on it. He is fine with that, because the five percent who move have an open field. What You'll Learn Why visibility beats quality in who gets the job order What Google actually changed and why SEO did not die How topical authority works on a recruiting website The listicle and directory play for showing up in AI answers Whether Wix and Squarespace can rank The single on page fix to make this week Finish The Year Strong 2026 runs September 28 through October 5. Retrouvez l'épisode en version française ici : https://www.gdiy.fr/podcast/robert-gentz-vf/It's the largest e-commerce company in Europe, just behind Amazon. And it all started with flip flops.Robert Gentz co-founded Zalando in 2008, after his first startup left him too broke to buy a flight ticket home from Mexico. With his co-founder, they tested the market with a one-page flip flop shop in Berlin. It worked. So they built a full shoe destination on top of it.The growth that followed is hard to believe: 6 million euros the first entire year, 160 million in year two, 500 million in year three.Today Zalando does 20 billion euros in gross merchandise value across 29 countries. But Europe doesn't make it easy.Robert learned that the hard way when the TV ad that turned Zalando into a German phenomenon became "the worst ad in the Netherlands" a few months later.Same continent, completely different reaction. That's the real story of building at scale in Europe: 29 different markets, 29 different consumer psychologies, and no shortcuts around any of them.In this episode, Robert reveals:Why Europe's fragmentation is both Zalando's biggest obstacle and its strongest moatThe real reason free returns increase order value instead of killing marginsWhy Zalando builds its own tech stack instead of buying off the shelfHow AI is already rewriting the rules of e-commerceWhy he turned down a US listing and what that says about Europe's futureA rare look into a company that proved Europe can build at global scale in less than 20 years, and what it will take to do it again. You can follow Robert on LinkedIn.The GDIY15 code will get you 15% off on Zalando from €50 spent, valid until 31.07.2026 at 11:59pm.TIMELINE:00:00:00 - The flip flop test before the shoe empire 00:12:06 - Fundraising Needs a Reference Point 00:19:38 - Build vs Buy: When to Own Your Technology 00:30:24 - "Europe is the hardest market on earth" 00:40:58 - The biggest mistake Zalando ever made 00:53:11 - Why the US Out-Scales Europe 01:00:31 - Running a company is like co-parenting 01:10:12 - The Country Launch Playbook 01:19:03 - Democratizing fashion from Paris to northern Finland 01:28:54 - Why fashion is still one of the most inefficient businesses 01:36:43 - AI could turn us into a commodity 01:47:41 - Stock market : Why Chosing Frankfurt Over Nasdaq ? 02:01:52 - "Speed Is the Only Advantage That Matters in the AI Age"We referred to previous GDIY episodes : #496 - Sébastien Kopp - VEJA - Faire du business autrement#487 - VF - Anton Osika - Lovable - Internet, Business et IA : rien ne sera jamais plus comme avant#487 - VO - Anton Osika - Lovable - Internet, Business, and AI: Nothing Will Ever Be the Same Again#311 - Pascal Meyer - QoQa - Vendre un Picasso à sa communauté : quand l'e-commerce n'a plus de limite#81 - Jacques Antoine Granjon - Cofondateur VEEPEE - l'aventure, l'hypercroissance, les marques et l'instinct#11 - Sébastien Kopp - VEJA 2/2 - Réussir dans la mode en préservant le monde#10 - Sébastien Kopp - VEJA 1/2 - concurrencer Nike et Adidas avec du Développement DurableA few recent episodes in English : #542 - VO - Yoni Assia - eToro - “AI Will Replace Most Traders in 18 Months”#513 - VO - Jesper Brodin - IKEA - 40 billion in revenue empire with no bank loan#500 - VO - Reid Hoffman - LinkedIn, Paypal - How to master humanity's most powerful invention#487 - VO - Anton Osika - Lovable - Internet, Business, and AI: Nothing Will Ever Be the Same Again#475 - VO - Shane Parrish - Farnam Street - Clear Thinking: The Decision-Making Expert#473 - VO - Brian Chesky - Airbnb - « We're just getting started »#452 - VO - Reid Hoffman - LinkedIn, Paypal - L'humanité 2.0 : Homo technicus plus qu'Homo sapiens#437 - James Dyson - Dyson - “Failure is more exciting than success”#431 - Sean Rad - Tinder - How the swipe fever took over the worldWe spoke about :Fort KnoxSalesforce CRMAmazon Web ServicesN8N : AI agents and workflowsyou can see and controlLovableReading Recommendations :Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose, by Tony Hsieh

The experts I know who are the most profitable, the most referable, and the most confident in their work have all done this. They picked a focus, they got really good at it, and they stuck with it long enough for it to compound and build a reputation on it.That's it. That's the secret sauce.Today I want to talk about what that actually looks like in practice by sharing an example from my own business that will make this click in a way that all the theory in the world never quite does.Sponsored by Squarespace:Free Guide to Squarespace Circle: nobsmastery.com/squarespaceTune into this episode to hear:How committing to specialization brings ease and profitability to your businessAll the ways being platform agnostic in the early days of Worstofall Design actually cost us time, effort, and cashWhy losing prospects was scary, but worth it in the endHow specializing boosts your ability to lead clients through projects and stay focusedMentioned:Wordpress Vs. The Bald and the Beautiful with Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamo
Across the porcelain provinces of our human experience, each soul leaves behind its own small testament; some solemn and substantial, with others fleeting as a whispered flush under the gentle glow from a nightlight. There are movements of grandeur, movements of haste, movements that arrive with operatic thunder. And then there are those shy little passages that scarcely trouble the waters below. The majesty of these movements is that all belong to the same mysterious intestinal symphony called life. Let us therefore abandon judgment at the bathroom door, accepting that no two constitutions are alike and that dignity may be found even in our most private acts of gastrointestinal release. For when we honor the full spectrum of what moves through us, we cease straining against one another and enter, at last, a gentler world of movement harmony. Need a website or domain? Am I the problem? It's a question we've all asked ourselves–and if you haven't, you probably should. This week, some introspective Valley girls share their struggles with deciding if they're in the wrong. One is suspicious of her husband using Snapchat to chat with his work wife. Another wonders if she can ask her sister to cover up her Star Wars tattoo at her wedding. If there's one thing you'll learn from this episode, it's that it never hurts to look in the mirror and ask the hard question...!!! In this episode, Paul Dio sits down with Jason Bagley, founder of Growth Experts, joining all the way from Cape Town, South Africa. Jason's story is a study in what happens when a marketer stops selling deliverables and starts selling outcomes. He started as a software developer, moved into web design at the exact moment Squarespace and Wix turned it into a race to the bottom, pivoted to a newsletter-only business, sold that during COVID, and eventually landed on the model he's running today — an all-you-can-eat growth marketing agency where the team doesn't just write the thing, they get the thing live. The heart of the conversation is a single insight Jason had with his very first Copy Check client. He'd written a newsletter and expected feedback on the copy. What he got back was a question about MailChimp. That's when the penny dropped. Clients don't want the newsletter written. They want the newsletter sent. They want the landing page built and live. They want the LinkedIn post published. Jason built Growth Experts around that reframe and it's changed how his agency shows up for every client since. Jason and Paul dig into what actually makes a newsletter worth reading in 2026 (spoiler — content, not cadence), how AI is changing what a small team can ship, and why he keeps telling his team to stop asking for sign-off on the work that isn't mission critical. He also gets honest about the mid-growth phase of his own business — the part nobody puts on LinkedIn — where the challenges get harder even as the numbers get better. The episode closes on attention and legacy. Jason's read on where audience attention is moving is simple. It's moving toward honest people doing real things and showing the mistakes. And his legacy is smaller and more personal than most guests give — his wife first, his kids second because of that, and the entrepreneurs he mentors through EO, planting seeds that go on to change worlds he'll never see. Ximena Borrazás is a Uruguayan photographer and documentary filmmaker born in Montevideo in 1992. She focuses on armed conflicts, migration, and humanitarian crises. Her work combines visual sensitivity with a strong commitment to social justice, often addressing the experiences of women and displaced populations. She has published with major international outlets, including National Geographic, The Guardian, BBC, CNN, DW, France 24, Al Jazeera, and the Associated Press, and has worked with institutions such as UNHCR, UNESCO, and IOM. Ximena's project in northern Ethiopia documents the devastating aftermath of the Tigray conflict, one of the deadliest wars of the 21st century. Her images portray survivors of sexual violence, displaced families, and the enduring effects of famine and trauma. This work earned her the 2024 Tom Stoddart Award for Excellence, the Gentex Corp Personal Safety Award from the Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant, and the Africa Mundi Award for best photographic publication in Planeta Futuro of El País. Her long-term documentary project The Scars of War, which began in Tigray, combines photography, testimony, and documentation to investigate conflict-related sexual violence through a forensic lens. Rather than treating sexual violence as an isolated act, the project traces it as a weapon of war, examining physical, psychological, and social evidence left behind, and the systems, or lack thereof, that respond to it. Ximena is currently based in Ukraine where, aside from continuing to photograph, she has a full-time job as a Liaison and Communications Officer with the United Nations. On episode 286, Ximena discusses, among other things: Working for the UN in Ukraine Her first experience of visiting the Polish border The nature of working amidst drone warfare Challenges of being a freelancer in a conflict zone Why she doesn't really want to be a photographer The experience of being in Kyiv on a daily basis Her life before photography Early forays into documentary work Her project in Tigray, Ethiopia and the context of the conflict there How she began The Scars of War, her work on conflict related sexual violence How serendipity on a HEFAT course led to publication in The Guardian How some X-rays changed everything and why they were so powerful How she has extended her project to other areas, and focussed on male victims How her job at the UN combines with her advocacy work Website | Instagram Become a A Small Voice podcast member here to access exclusive additional subscriber-only content and the full archive of 200+ previous episodes for £4 per month. Launching a podcast doesn't require a fancy studio or expensive equipment, and I prove it in this second installment of the nine part podcast launch series. Recording from my home in rural Wisconsin as a mom of two, I walk through exactly what you need to get started: lighting, video recording, hosting, scheduling, branding, and website tools, most of which you probably already own. I break down my go to platforms for editing and hosting, the design tool I use for brand images, the website builder that made building my own site simple, and the organization and communication tools that keep my show (and our client's work) running smoothly. A lesbian with a pregnant wife is confounded and disgruntled at the way Pride celebrations can be a little too sex positive, especially if you have a little kid. Should Pride parades put on a straight-laced appearance, or go full bacchanal? It's an old, old debate. A woman needs her lovers to tell her she's hot and generally praise her during sex. Like, a lot. Is this a kink? On the Magnum, Dan meets his witty, homosexual match in Bryan Safi. The Emmy Award-winning actor, writer, and comedian known for his work on ABC's “9-1-1” as well as his podcasts, Attitudes! and Ask Ronna, is making his Off-Broadway debut this summer with Are You Mad At Me?? They chat about all this, and answer a caller who wonders if she should agree to a man's request on Feeld to be her "foot boy." Safi is magically delightful, and you simply must listen in. And, a woman's butt plug keeps disappearing up her butt. It's not supposed to work like that, right? Right. Call us with your quandaries. 206-302-2064 Record that Q and send it in: Q@Savage.Love. The Bald and the Beautiful with Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamo
Once upon a time in a magical far-off land, Trixie Mattel, the undisputed Royal Duchess of Drag, believed herself to be best friends with Maria Bamford, the realm's undeniable Queen of Comedy. Having followed her through every enchanted television program and neighborhood comedy special, the parasocial relationship grew and grew like a magical beanstalk. Although Trixie had adored her from afar for twenty years, the two had never met until fate summoned them to a mystical Burbank podcast studio, where together they feasted upon ceremonial donuts from Maria's legendary 9:00am comedy court. And thus their imaginary friendship became real at last, proving that even the grandest fairy tales may come true, provided the castle is less than two miles from Maria's home. We're talking sneaking away with your secret vacation man every summer for years (yes, years), flying across the world to visit that dreamy beach boy studying abroad in hopes he finally gets the hint to put a ring on it, and one we've all secretly dreamed about: the hot guy walking down the airplane aisle, only to stop… and take the seat right next to you. Summer is officially heating up, ladies. ☀️

Life is like a box of podcasts, you sort of know what you're gonna get (e.g. host-read ads, friends talking books, hot takes about books that inspired movies). Jaci and Chelsey have heard your cries for their thoughts on the current season of Love Island USA, and they're finally here. The girls kick things off by breaking down the villa after Casa Amor turned everything upside down. Almost every relationship (if you could even call it that) is hanging by a thread, so there's lot's to discuss! Then they move into something just about every boy on that show could use: an advice column. Listeners wrote in asking for help with husbands hitting on them, debating whether moving back in with your parents is the right move, and—surprise!—another garbage husband who just can't stop killing the vibe.!!! A woman's hot boyfriend is being harassed by his upstairs neighbor who has come up with a novel way to summon him to his door. Our first guest is GI physician and friend of the show Dr. Carlton Thomas. He is on to answer a question about NEW DOUCHING TECHNOLOGY. On the Magnum, a newly single woman is howling at the moon with insatiably high libido. She's annoyed with apps and parties and wonders if she should just hire a sex worker already. Dan chatted with "Love Coach," podcast host and former sex worker Shaun Galanos about her options. Finally, a man has just had prostate surgery. His doctors tell him he must have no sexual contact while he recovers. Can his girlfriend suck his dick anyway? Here's how it works. You record your question. Then you send it to Q@Savage.Love Or! The Bald and the Beautiful with Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamo
Once upon a Silver Lake lanai, beneath a moon so bright it seemed personally sponsored by comradery and friendship, Dame Trixie Mattel met Emmy-nominated comedian and actor Robby Hoffman, and before the iced drinks could sweat through their cocktail napkins, a legendary best-friendship was born. In this episode of The Bald and the Beautiful, Trixie sits down with Robby to trace the wildly improbable, yet deeply hilarious road from having almost nothing but nerve, humor, and cockroaches, to becoming a powerhouse comedian with a gorgeous wife and a life so wonderful it sounds like the ending of a YA romance novel written by a semi-anxious adult.
