Take a moment to connect with your body and make space for difficult emotions with compassion and care. This embodiment practice is guided by Lyla June Johnston, a Diné musician, scholar of Indigenous land management, and community organizer. How To Do This Practice:  Ground yourself in the present: Find a comfortable seated position and take four slow, deep breaths. Notice the feeling of your body supported by the chair or the floor, bringing your attention fully into the present moment. Reflect on a difficult truth: Gently bring to mind a challenging truth—such as the lasting impacts of colonization or another painful reality. Approach it with curiosity rather than judgment, allowing yourself to stay present instead of becoming overwhelmed. Notice where your emotions live in your body: As you reflect, pay attention to your physical sensations. You might notice tightness in your chest, heaviness in your stomach, warmth in your heart, or another sensation. Simply observe where your emotions show up. Hold your feelings with compassion: Rather than pushing difficult emotions away or getting lost in them, imagine holding them with the same care you would offer a crying child. Let each feeling be seen, heard, and acknowledged without trying to fix it. Replace shame with love and solidarity: If guilt or shame arises, gently set it down. Instead, invite feelings of compassion, hope, and connection. Consider one way you can move toward repair, understanding, or solidarity—even if it's simply bearing witness with an open heart. Return to the present with intention: Bring your awareness back to your breath, your body, and your surroundings. Relax your shoulders, soften your muscles, and take four more deep breaths. As you finish, carry forward an intention to meet difficult truths with courage, love, and compassionate action. While playing one of our fan sounds at home, we noticed that our dog was exceptionally quiet as people were making noise outside! We think he was trying to tell us something... That dogs find the sound of a fan super relaxing and it masks street noise! We knew he was onto something, so we made this fan sound for sleeping and relaxation specifically for dogs. We started playing this fan noise for him when we went out for the day or when we heard gardeners, delivery people or other dogs outside. Instead of barking, he slept peacefully through it all! Needless to say, the results blew us away!

Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. Often times we place so much pressure on ourselves to achieve the goal, whatever it may be, that we for get that one step forward is better than no steps forward. There is no such thing as failure, unless you quit. Everything in life is practice. Athletes practice to compete and then consider the competition practice for the next competition. Thinking this way can actually bleed over into life as well. Everything we do is just practice for life. Persistence, dedication, discipline, learning to deal with setbacks. Meditation is the same way. We are practicing for life. Mindfully. One breath at a time.

This week on The Weekend Golf Guys, Tom and Jeff teamed up to remind golfers everywhere that your brain can wreck a round faster than a topped tee shot. They hammered home the idea that if you're not having fun out there, you're basically paying good money to be miserable — and that's just bad economics. Frustration, fear, and those wild expectations we all carry around? Yeah, those are the real swing killers.   Tom talked mindset, Jeff talked mechanics, and together they made one thing crystal clear: your setup and your patterns matter way more than whatever complicated nonsense you saw on YouTube at 2 a.m. Jeff even pulled out some wisdom from Dr. Bob Christina, explaining how your physical structure — the way you stand, balance, and move — shapes your swing more than any “try this one weird trick” tip ever will.   Then Jeff rolled out one of his classic lesson moves: he takes the golf ball away. Just removes it. Students freak out for a second, then suddenly start swinging like actual athletes instead of nervous wrecks trying not to embarrass themselves. No ball means no fear, no overthinking, no “don't shank this.” Just balance, motion, and a swing that finally makes sense.   Tom backed him up, pointing out that golfers don't need a dictionary of technical jargon. They need simple, practical stuff they can actually use — grip, stance, alignment, and a brain that isn't screaming at them. Keep it simple, and the swing gets better. Make it complicated, and the golfer gets worse. Every. Single. Time.   The show wrapped with Tom sharing how folks can reach him for instruction, and of course, we reminded everyone to subscribe, leave a review, and keep the game fun — because golf is hard enough without you turning it into a science project. Beloved, this is our last installment of Empathica's Journey through the Emotional Circuits. When was the last time you laughed—really laughed?I'm a night owl, and I spend time in a few communities on X. Late at night, we shake off the day's stress, step out of conversing about current day issues and economics and joke around, and laugh until it hurts.Maybe you have a few people in your life who can pull real laughter out of you. Or a show you go back to when you need a deep, belly laugh.Every time I laugh so hard that I can barely breathe, I'm reminded of how rarely I laugh at all.Capricorn's take life too damn serious. Guilty!So…..When was the last time you did something purely for the joy of it—without a productive purpose, without justification, without that voice in your head whispering…Who do you think you are? There was a part of you that was born knowing how to play.A child who danced without choreography. Who imagined entire worlds before breakfast. Who expressed joy as naturally as breathing. And somewhere along the way — through criticism, through responsibilities that came too soon, through a world that valued output over aliveness — that part of you was told to sit down and be serious.Your play circuit — the neurological system responsible for joy, creativity, bonding, and spontaneity — didn't die.It went into hiding. It's still there, beneath the productivity guilt and the fear of being seen as foolish.Still waiting. And if you've been wondering why rest doesn't actually restore you, why weekends feel like another obligation, why joy feels like something other people get to have — this is why.Let me explain how this works. The play circuit lives in the interplay between your limbic system (emotion) and prefrontal cortex (thinking). When activated, it releases endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine — the neurochemistry of happiness, creativity, and social bonding. In children, this system develops trust, resilience, and flexibility. In adults, it sustains innovation, intimacy, and mental health. It is not a luxury. It is a biological necessity. But when trauma enters childhood — when joy was interrupted, when lightness was punished, when the environment required seriousness for survival — the play circuit shuts down. The brain learns: Happiness is dangerous. Being seen in my joy makes me a target. I must earn the right to feel good. And unconscious vows form: I must always be productive. It's not safe to express my joy. My creativity is not valuable. These vows don't just steal your fun. They steal your flexibility. They rigidify your thinking. They make rest feel like laziness and joy feel like irresponsibility. They slowly drain the color from a life that was meant to be vivid. Here's what happens neurologically when the play circuit is suppressed chronically:Your dopamine pathways become reward-deficient. You stop being able to feel satisfaction from small pleasures because your brain has been trained that only achievement counts.Your serotonin regulation falters. You feel low-grade depression that no amount of accomplishment can fix because accomplishment was never the source of well-being — simple presence was.Your endorphins stay dormant. You lose access to natural pain relief, stress resilience, and the physical lightness that comes from unstructured movement and laughter.Research on play deprivation in adults shows clear correlations with increased rigidity, depression, and reduced problem-solving capacity.Your joy is not frivolous, love. It is the foundation of a flexible, creative, connected life.Without it, you are running on fumes — efficient, maybe, but not alive. Here's what I want you to understand: You don't heal your way into joy. Joy is the healing. It's not the reward for finishing your inner work. It's the practice that makes the inner work sustainable.I created an audio journey to help you begin remembering this. The journey is called The Radiance of Joy, and it's guided by Empathica — your Unconscious Emotional Circuit Breaker. She understands that your inability to relax isn't a character flaw. It's a nervous system that learned early: If I let my guard down, something bad will happen. If I enjoy myself too much, I will be punished. If I shine too brightly, I will be dimmed. This work isn't about forcing yourself to be happy. It's about creating enough safety that happiness becomes possible again without guilt, without apology, without needing to justify why you deserve it.At the end of the audio journey, I offer an invitation: Do one thing this week that serves no productive purpose whatsoever.Doodle. Hum. Walk without a destination. Wear something ridiculous in your own home.Let five minutes exist without optimization.Notice what arises — the guilt, the discomfort, the strange unfamiliarity of unearned pleasure — and let it pass through you like weather. You don't have to fix it. Hey, Family Brand community! We are so glad to be back in the studio. It probably doesn't feel like we've been gone since we recorded a few episodes ahead of time, but after spending the last few weeks traveling through Croatia and Turkey, we're excited to sit down and share some of the biggest lessons we brought home with us. Every trip has a way of changing us, and this one was no exception. Our first stop was Croatia, where we hosted another Family Brand cruise with our good friend Antony and the Solomori team. If Croatia has been sitting on your travel bucket list, consider this your sign to move it to the top. It's absolutely beautiful, but what impacted us most wasn't just the scenery—it was the culture. Everywhere we went, we saw families making time for one another, preserving traditions, sharing stories, and simply slowing down. Meals weren't rushed. Conversations stretched for hours. We even learned a Croatian word that quickly became the theme of our trip: pomalo—which simply means take it easy, slow down, don't rush. It became a reminder that maybe we're not meant to race through life quite as fast as we often do. Then we landed in Turkey, and talk about a complete shift. Everything felt unfamiliar—in the best possible way. From hearing the call to prayer echo across Istanbul to visiting beautiful mosques, trying a traditional Turkish bath, navigating a language barrier, and experiencing a culture completely different from our own, we found ourselves having conversations as a family that we never would have had otherwise. It challenged some assumptions, expanded our understanding of another faith and culture, and reminded us how valuable it is to step outside what's comfortable. We left with an even greater appreciation for the kindness we experienced everywhere we went and for how much there is to learn simply by being curious. By the time we made it home, each of us had something different we were bringing back. For some of us, it was a renewed commitment to slow down and prioritize family. For others, it was a deeper appreciation for home, or even a desire to start reading physical books again instead of always listening to audiobooks. More than anything, this trip reminded us that growth doesn't just happen through travel—it happens anytime we're willing to be open to new people, different perspectives, and meaningful conversations. Whether your next adventure is across the world or simply across town, we hope it stretches you in all the best ways. Hit play to hear the full conversation! We dive much deeper into the stories, the laughs, the culture, and the lessons that simply can't all fit into a blog post. P.S. We're here to help you build your own Family Brand, one episode at a time. So go ahead, hit play, and let's grow together! We spend most of our lives afraid. We spend most of our lives worrying about what has been or what could be. We spend our life thinking about all the bad things that are possible. But we very often forget the other side of possibility. All the good things that could happen. Good or bad, neither are true, unless we say so. This meditation hopes to help remind us that we have the universe inside of us and to ask the question how much better could things get? One breath at a time.

Summary: “Have you ever been to a buffet where you literally try everything?”   Sometimes the best way to find your new favorite things is to just sample a lot of different things until you find the things that you enjoy the most. As with a buffet…or even dating, you just “grab something” you think you might like and “give it a taste”. If you like it, you keep going back for more. And if it's not your thing, you simply continue the process of sampling and tasting other things until you find something you truly enjoy.   Founded by Markus Staiger in Donzdorf, Germany way back in 1987, NUCLEAR BLAST has signed a myriad of metal artists over the years from across the spectrum of sub genres, ranging from hardcore and symphonic metal to industrial metal, thrash metal, and beyond, including some top tier legacy thrash bands from the 1980's that enjoyed a resurgence in popularity during the 2000's (fun fact: Slayer's final studio album, Repentless, is the highest charting NUCLEAR BLAST release in the United States, making it to Number 4 on the Billboard 200.)   In the context of this particular episode, we are referring to our recent sampling of the artist roster from NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS, and much like with dating and buffets, there were some bands we enjoyed more than others, some that were right up our alley and REALLY hit the spot, and some that just weren't our cup of tea (so to speak), but rest assured that everything we sampled was most definitely interesting and we learned a few things along the way.   Prepare for the most philosophical voicemail about metal music that we've ever received, realize that when it comes to power outages and paranormal activity that “I just wanna make sure that they know that I know that they know” and remember that “sometimes, wet's not bad” when you JOIN US on our sampling expedition of the NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS artist roster.  Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on your favorite Podcast app Follow us on the Socials: Facebook - Instagram - TikTok Email: metalnerdery@gmail.com Can't be LOUD Enough Playlist on Spotify Metal Nerdery Munchies on YouTube @metalnerderypodcast Show Notes: (00:01): “So, it's wet over there…? You can switch between apps while studying or working without pausing the ambient sound.About our sounds:Water creates a natural white noise. Send us Fan MailA mile of waterfront, a hillside that photographs cannot explain, and a resort name that dares you to relax. We're joined by Justin McWilliams, developer and owner of Camp QYB (Camp Quitcherbichin) on Lake Bridgeport near Runaway Bay, Texas, fresh off winning Glamping Resort of the Year from TACO. Justin has spent roughly four decades in construction and land development, and he brings that hard-earned perspective to what it takes to build a real outdoor hospitality destination from scratch. We talk about why variety matters in glamping and RV resort design: cabins, wagons, Airstreams, capsule-style units, and a growing number of RV sites, all built around the idea that many guests want nature plus community. From there, we dig into the amenity engine that makes the place work, including an old western town hub, multiple food and beverage concepts, events, activities on the lake, and the small details that create a “whimsical” feeling at night. Justin also shares the thinking behind the brand ethos: leave the complaining at home and be present. Then we get practical about the business of campground development: unexpected rock conditions and how they reused boulders, fighting for water and sewer, how interest rates and timing can squeeze a project, and why conservative underwriting matters. Justin breaks down occupancy reality (including the logic behind modelling closer to 35%), the importance of weekday demand, and how ancillary revenue can change the revenue strategy for high-amenity resorts. We also cover events that sell, partnering with charities, and Justin's next moves, from modular housing ideas to sourcing commercial-grade solar lighting and supplies directly. If you care about glamping resort development, RV park operations, feasibility, occupancy strategy, and building a place guests talk about long after checkout, hit subscribe, share this with a builder or operator you know, and leave us a review. New here? Start with our Start Here playlist — five episodes that will change how you think about motherhood. Have you ever caught yourself thinking, in the middle of an especially relentless week, that a minor car accident might actually be a relief — if it meant a doctor's note to lie in bed for two days? No serious injuries, just... permission to stop? Yeah. Emily and Julie get it. JoAnn sits down with Emily Jones and Julie Dobbs, hosts of the Mom Game podcast, for an honest, unfiltered conversation about what it's actually like to be a high-achieving mom who cannot turn her brain off. They talk about the badge of honor we've attached to being busy, the two kinds of mental load (logistical and emotional — and why the emotional one never stops), hormones, perimenopause, the mom volunteer spiral, and what has genuinely helped each of them find moments of real relaxation in the middle of all of it. In this episode: The "minor car accident" fantasy — and why even joking about it should be a warning sign Why high-achieving moms struggle to turn their brains off even when they technically have downtime The difference between the logistical mental load and the emotional mental load (and why the emotional one follows you everywhere) Why you're only as happy as your saddest kid — and what to do with that How hormones and perimenopause are contributing to the overwhelm nobody talked about until now The mom volunteer spiral: who's creating it, who's perpetuating it, and why moms are sometimes part of the problem Why normalizing imperfection — including being open about your kid's ADHD diagnosis — actually helps everyone What's genuinely helped each of them relax: girlfriends, court sports, a good group chat, and improv comedy How to know when you need an outlet before you explode (and why you never want to wait until you do) This one feels like sitting around with friends who get it. No solutions required — just a conversation that makes you feel a little less alone in all of it. Find Emily and Julie on the Mom Game podcast wherever you listen to podcasts. “Who's going to drive?” That was the question Dave and I were debating. And after the debate was over, we got a pretty good laugh out of it. Dave was new on our staff in the New York area at the time, and soon after he arrived we got, shall we call it, an “enlightened” look at each other's personality. We were headed up to this retreat center for a day of prayer and planning, and we got to the parking lot and said in unison, “Well, who's going to drive?” It turned out we both wanted to. As we talked about that during the trip, we started to analyze why we both hate to ride and why we both love to drive. I guess it's often true of people in leadership; we like to be able to control where things are going, and how fast we're going to get there. Well, of course, we ended up falling all over each other saying, “You drive,” “No, you drive,” “No, you drive.” You know what? That's not such a bad idea. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about “Letting Go of the Wheel.” Our word for today from the Word of God: we're in Numbers 13:16 - a turning point in the life of one of God's great leaders, Joshua. One reason He was great might be because of what happened on this particular day. “These are the names of the men Moses sent to explore the land” the Bible says. And then it just talks about one of them. “Moses gave Hoshea the name Joshua.” You might look at that and say, “This is sort of like a genealogy; it's just a name thing, right? Why is that important? Hoshea…Joshua, who cares? As you know, when God changes someone's name in the Bible, it's always important. You have to know what the words mean in order to understand the significance of it. Hoshea, which was his given name, means “deliverer.” The name that he was changed to, Joshua – the name by which we know him – means “salvation is from the Lord.” In essence, Joshua grew up with the name saying, “I deliver.” Moses said, “No, I want to change your name to “God delivers.” I think Joshua realized after that that he was not the controller. He wasn't meant to drive. That's especially significant if you tend to be a controlling person. Are you the type of person who tries to control your children's lives a little bit so they'll do what you think they should? Or maybe you try to control your mate so he or she will do what you think they should. Or you try to control the people you work with or who work for you. Are you the kind of person who decides what the outcome should be, and then maybe you sort of manipulate whatever you have to in order to make that outcome happen? Your attitude, because you are a leadership type person, is “It's up to me. Hey, I've got to make it happen!” Aren't you getting tired? Aren't you worn out from trying to do God's job? I've gotten that way. He changed Hoshea, “I have to deliver,” to Joshua, “the Lord delivers.” So Joshua would never forget who wins the battles. And that's true of your battles now too. You know, I've been driving at times when my wife could tell that I was probably about to fall asleep at the wheel no matter what I tried. And she'd just keep going, “You want me to drive? Would you let me drive?” Probably just before we became a National Safety Council statistic, I'd pull over and I would let her drive. And boy, I was asleep before we pulled away from the side of the road. God's been saying for a long time, “Let go of that wheel. If you keep driving you're going to crash this thing. Would you let go of the wheel?” Maybe God's saying you were never meant to drive. Why don't you become Joshua - the Lord delivers? Let go of the wheel! Hear God saying, “Relax and leave the driving to Me!”

We focus on what to do when anxiety rises in the middle of everyday settings where it is not practical to step away and process it privately. We explain that the main practice is to prepare in quieter moments, especially during meditation or other practice time, so acceptance and “floating” become more familiar. When anxiety shows up in the moment, we suggest noticing the body's signals and using physical relaxation as a cue of safety. We describe simple techniques such as tensing and releasing muscles, relaxing the shoulders, jaw, hands, feet, and legs, and using small movements or shaking out tension when appropriate. The point is to send the brain a message that there is no immediate danger, rather than trying to force away thoughts. We also address the tendency to add a second layer of distress by worrying about how we look, whether others notice, or whether we can get through the situation. We encourage noticing that extra self-criticism and not feeding it, since that can intensify the anxiety. Finally, we emphasize that repeated practice makes these responses easier to access in daily life. The episode closes with a quote about discovering wisdom through our own journey.#Anxiety #AnxietyRelief #SocialAnxiety #AnxietyCoachesPodcast #GinaRyan #StressManagement #MentalHealth #Meditation #Mindfulness #CopingStrategies #RelaxationTechniques #ProgressiveMuscleRelaxation #PettingTheLizard #Amygdala #FightOrFlight #SelfCare #EmotionalWellness #SecondArrow #AnxiousThoughts #CopingWithAnxiety #SocialAnxietyTips #PhysicalRelaxation #Calm #Peace #NervousSystemRegulation #SomaticTracking #PublicAnxiety #GroundingTechniques #MentalHealthAwareness #AnxietySupport #CopingMechanisms #SelfCompassionSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
